Can I create a standalone Stationary object? - Yes you can!
« on: March 19, 2025, 05:15:09 PM »

Hi guys

So Stationary objects I see in-game are derived from existing models eg. aircraft, cars and ships.

I want to add the bridge shown below to my game spanning a canyon.
I don't want to be hamstrung by having to do a low poly Static object, I would prefer to create a multi mesh Stationary object.

Is this possible and how would I go about doing this?

Class file, Stationary entry, Technics entry?

Wouldn't this be much the same process as when making those revetments?

Revetments are single mesh objects (Static object).

The bridge is 24,000 polys so I want to break it up into multiple smaller meshes no different to aircraft, ships etc.

Hello genXgamer, if you take a look at the thread called Junks you will find some class files from Andrew (Grief11), they allow you to make a static object from meshes using a hier him, I used these to make the static objects in my Thorneycroft Amazon and Coles crane release and there have also been a few other vehicles released that use the same classfiles to add further detail to them so I think it will work for your bridge but I do not know if it will work for a single object or if you will have to break down the bridge into parts, you will need to experiment. :D ;)

Links to thread:

Here are the files in that thread:

Hope that helps.

Tale care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thanks mate

I will download the Junks to see if I can use anything.

As far as the the three class files.

As stated above,

Quote
I currently have many wrecked aircraft in my game as Static objects via the hier.him static mod (shown below), however even though I've managed to get the fighters poly count down to 5,000 and the bombers to 20,000 and using a .him, I find it extremely temperamental/buggy.

Hello again, hope all is well.

The way I used this was to put the three class files in a folder inside the SAS folder, now I have two installs and in one I named it: !                                          00_HierHimStatic, note the long gap from!, that puts it near the top of the mod folder, just have the class files inside that no need for anything else in the folder.
My test install has less stuff in and I just named the folder in that: 'Files from Andrew make hier work for static', that one is lower down in the mod folder. :o o_O :D

For my vehicles I kept the meshes to under 3000 faces and just assembled the static models as I went using the hier
using parts from the moving vehicle that was already assembled.

There is a actual moving vehicle in my packs, that was made first and just has more than usual parts than any of the in game moving vehicles and does not need the files from Andrew. ;)

You will see from the Junk thread that we had fun and games trying to get things going but got there eventually. :D

As far as I can recall I never had a need to try this for buildings, the religious building set just uses meshes in the normal way as there tend to be less polygons used in the construction of those, sorry I cannot help further other than if you cannot get your bridge to work then send me the model and I will take a look for you but \I cannot give any guarantees. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thanks for the offer of help Pete.

All I know is I want to steer away from the hier.him static mod, I've found it to be buggy and that includes greif11's mods.

I'll add the bridge as a car then create a stationary from that.
We'll see what happens.
