Is there a mod that replaces the DCG maps with more realistic and larger maps, especially for Normandy and North Africa?

Yes, its possible but normaly you have to build a complete new campaign for it! Except only the textures were changed then you have only to change the map path in the maps.dcg!

As Cycle has stated, it is certainly do-able but the missions in the original map are based on coordinates of that map so if you change the map to a larger map.......your aircraft, vehicles and various other objects could appear in completely bizarre locations on the 'new' map.

If you'd like to use a more realistic, larger map you could build your own DCG campaign incorporating any map you want but it can be a laborious process.  Lonestar put out a DCG campaign-building tutorial years ago.  While the game has changed the basic tutorial is still applicable.

Hope this helps.
