@Blond: Either your name is a give away  :P or you are not a true Ajax fan..  Heheh, just kidding mate, but the ArenA was build in the mid 1990's.
However, my 3d modelling skills are way to limited to make such custom objects such as the Olympic stadium, I will go for the stock football stadium instead.

Just kidding, Rembrandt ;)
Anyway... few hundred bottles of Amstel would be fine to see around ports and airfields barracks...

Very nice textures there Michel, it looks really convincing. Will you also make colourful textures to simulate flower fields, or did that industry come up after WW2?

Well, the flower fields have been around since the 16th century, however I suspect not on the scale as seen today. That's a hard thing to research, I based some textures on black and white aerial photographs of 1940, but it would obviously be a pain to figure the out the flower fields, etc.
But it is an interesting thought, some flower fields might give the landscape a distinctive look for sure.

I do have some heath (dutch: heide) textures in place, which can be seen in the distance of a rudimentary version of Soesterberg airfield.

All this is looking very good man, good luck.
Flat landscapes are the worst to texture, really ! You are doing a very nice job, can't wait for this map.

The original footage of operation Oyster is pretty spectacular, skip to 2:00 for the low level attack bit:

That's the kind of flying I like in Il-2 - way down to the ground. Thanks for link.

The northsea map is not dead  ;)

Some months ago the AAA side was closed so I lost contact to the other guys.
First of all I bought a new laptop. It was a little bit tricky with Windows 7 but
now it works very good. With standard conf.ini I have round about 100 FPS on
the northseamap. Even with bombers and ships and MDS.

The northseamap works beautyfull with the UP installation. I took some 352th crossing
channel textures for the british part of the northseamap. I still have 4 slots free for textures.
The other textures are reworked. Now they have the brightness and color range  of the
slovakia map.

In some regions I worked a little bit with the map_h. I started to create some "Dünen".
The water has a bigger blue tuch. I saw a HD documantation of the northsea. This
film was a big inspiration.

Tante Ju on its ride out.

Playing a little bit with Zutis MDS. I have a book with a documantation about
radar in the northsea in the second world war. After reading this book i started to
create radar station in the correct regions of the map. The same will happen with
AAA stations.

The habour was built with original images of WWII

Next beta version will be out shortly before christmas. Winter map too.

If this netherlands map 1940 has parts of the northsea map (map_c, map_t) I whould stop
populating the netherlands. I later whould take the part of the netherlands 1940 static ini and put
this into the northsea map. So I whould have less work and it is alway a little bit
strange to see different versions of cities.

If you have not started with Amsterdam please wait. An expert from the netherlands hase done this
job and it looks very impressive. Looks like he has put a lot of energy into this work.

It is really good to see you around, Waggel, after all these months; I am still struggling with your brilliant map (can't save in FMB, although the static.ini checker mentions no missing objects). The 'expert from the Netherlands' isUuflakke, who as I recall has done a wonderful job populating Amsterdam (see first page of this thread)
Michel, your map evolves impressively; it is a most needed addition to the game; all the best, 8)
EDIT: I just revisited NordSee map and it works for me now! Obviously, some textures I've added for some other map did the trick  :D

Moin Moin cgagan  :)

The problem that you can not save in FMB normally is caused by an error in the static ini file.
I never saw something else. I got the map  running on UI, HSFX and UP. Maybe your problem
is gone with the next beta.

At the moment I try to simulate the "Watteenmeer" in IL-2. I think we  can learn a lot from
the pacific guys. My inspiration was this documentation:
