People,
have you ever tried to land the SeaFury in a carrier? I consider this plane the most difficult of all the nacy planes.

First: it doesn't have air brakes.
Second: it stalls relatively easy if you try to approach the carrier at low speed.
Third: its arrestor hook is too short, so if you don't get the plane with the nose up and its tail close to ground it never catches the stop cables. And if you try to do so: have its tails low while you are approaching the deck, it will stall and you will loose control.

So: what a hell of a plane! I think that most of these problems are a lack of realism of the MOD implementation, but it is a good training to try to land with this tough british.

  Regards,

I remember trying to convince the original creator of the Sea Fury to extend the hook downwards by sending him a picture of the IRL version alongside the MOD.

Never got a reply.......however, by experimentation I have managed to get it to grab a hook on most occasions. I produced a TRK a while back with a voice-over explaining the ways of this aircraft as it flies in IL-2.

If you are interested you can download the UP 2.01 version TRK here and drop it into your "records" folder to see.

If you think that landing the Seafury on a carrier is difficult try to land it in formation with AI and  a fence at the beginning of the runway ,Is the worst clip that i have ever managed to caught on a clip,After half a hour of trying i get it !

Your movies are really great sOcrazty......Have you published anywhere the progs. you use to produce them and maybe a few hints?

Going back to the problems of the Sea Fury hook...I found the pictures that I sent to the Mod originator to try and get the hook lowered. I enclose the two pics below showing the IL-2 hook down and the IRL hook down....it is easy to see why we have problems with deck landings.

Having said that...it is a wonderful and detailed mod...the "in wing" detail with the wings folded is really amazing!

Nicholaiovitch :)

The IL-2 hook down:-

The real hook down:-
