Title: IL2 No-CD exe , for unmodded games [4.09] [4.10]
Post by: SAS~CirX on September 29, 2009, 07:15:20 PM
(https://storebror.it.cx/sas/archive/sas/tools/ilexe.jpg)

There are many reasons one may want to play the original unmodified IL2. And also many reasons you may want to protect your installation DVD. Especially if you are stuck donw here in South Africa where you will NOT get a replacement if your DVD drive eats it.

(And apart from that , I am of the school of thought that anti-piracy software, measures and restrictions do 0% to stop piracy, and only punishes legitmate users)

So, here is a exe file that replaces the installation stock one, and makes you able to run the unmodded game without the DVD. It works for all DVD versions as far as I know, at least 4.05 and later.

The modded game of course has always run without DVD, but that is a whole different story, isnt it?

So, this is not a mod, as much as a crack. Use it like an adult, use it at your own risk.
I have been using it for years. This no cd crack works with 4.09m .

Agreed, Silent Hunter III cost me around $150 when all was said and done, $45 for the game itself, the rest for a new DVD drive when Starforce decided to destroy mine after it decided one day that my DVD drive was evil and must be destroyed, so destroyed it.  :-\

At least it's still not as bad as needing a constant internet connection even for offline flying like a certain WWI sim I know.

How do you install the file?   It has a S7 extension to the file (IL2fb.S7) and I cannot get it to be recognised when I drop it into the folder as suggested in the first post.

Post by: SAS~CirX on June 25, 2010, 08:36:58 PM
are you sure it is not a ".7z" extention?

SAS~CirX,
Thanks, this .exe works like a dream. I have 2 copies of Il-2 1946 (one for daily use, and one as a back-up in case the first one gets damaged), but this is very convenient (no need to put in the dvd anymore and no noise from the spinning dvd-drive).

SEE47,
All you need to do is to 'unzip' the downloaded file with 7-Zip (it's a free program, search the internet). Once you have unzipped the file you get a replacement file for your original il2fb.exe. Save your original somewhere (or rename it) and put the new il2fb.exe in the main folder of Il-2 1946. Then you can make a link to your desktop and you're ready to go ...

Regards,
Sassenach

I don't see why you made this. The stock game runs without CD anyway ???

Can you use the original rts.dll or do you have to have a no-cd'ed one? As in: For the 1.2 patch you had to replace the rts.dll instead of the il2fb.exe...

Thanks

Post by: SAS~CirX on August 08, 2010, 04:50:39 AM
no, you dont need anything else, just replace your old .exe with this one. Note: this is only for use with il21946, and only for stock unmodded games.

Modded games already does not require the CD.

Yes i have the unmodded one. I installed it again cause of a new computer. So original rts.dll and then the new .exe?

Thanks for this!

I've lost the one I had!

I've always used the NoCD crack since I also got my first IL2 Forgotten Battles for nothing (in the days when they used to bundle it with a new computer)...

Just to know... :)

I purchased mine from Steam, and I couldn't play it without login on Steam (I don't know why).
So I copied the entire folder of IL-2 from Steam to C:\ and I copied this file into it.
It's working like a charm. 8)

Without the file, it was opening the Steam when I was clicking on IL2fb.exe.

Are we going to get one of these for 4.11?..................  or will the other one work?

Guess I'll try it and see what happens.

Oddly enough, for me it doesn't :(

Did you all patch an existing original Il-2 with the no cd exe allready replacing the old one to 4.11?
Because I patched to 4.11 and THEN applied the no cd.

In my previous install with 4.101 stock the no cd exe worked.

NVM, was my own stupidity and conf.ini that led to the non working of the exe.

This must have been the very first crack/patch/mod to ever come out....way before the mods.

and after installing 1946 fresh...and then adding the big super all-in-one pack from the banana forum to take me right up to 4.11.1 .....it still requested the DVD !!!!!!!??????

WTF!!!!!  just how far have we come....?
Don't tell me all those mod-haters are still using their DVD's and faithfully replacing them every year when they wear out????

OMG

say What? ... Are you serious?  ???
Anyone that NEVER installed a Mod to their game is still
using their original IL-2-1946 DVD-game in the computer?
No  ???   This cannot be real.
LMAO!

.... I can still hear an echo from the distant past... with people screaming and all those "mod-haters" in
the Banana forum shouting...  "You can´t Mod this game, you will ruin it forever!"

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! :))

It's made for pirates who are too lazy to buy the game or just pirates that want a nice crack for the pirate version.

Yea, some Windows/PC's can't run it with out the crack, as said by Mr. Churchill.

wtf are you talking about?   I have the european Dvd-rom version of 1946 and Il2 NEVER STARTED without cd
and when I desinstalled and reinstalled the sim, it won't run any more because of the f****d anti-copy Securom's software that is installed with the game which showed a ***** message of conflict any time I tried to start Il2
So, even if I had the original, I was obliged to use this no-cd exe version if I wanted to run the stock one
-search the web for Securom problems and see before talking of piracy

As ectoflyer said, and Buchon, if you even bothered to read the thread first you would seen the reasons already stated.

Well I know about these problems.  The US version that I have (cheaper) is not subject to these problems so piracy is my only idea as to why this happens with the no CD problems.

Ah thank goodness we can be protected from All that is Evil in Starforce. That one piece of malignant sofware has beached more DVD players than all the reefs and shoals of the Pacific. Thank you to whomever the kind soul was who created this.

Thank you very much, I tried every single fix I could find to get IL246 to run on win7 x64.  This EXE fixed the issue.

I guess I had the US version of the EXE file without the securom stuff and/or CD crack.

It works with 4.12.2

Correct, back before the newest updates the No CD Crack was needed. And there was no Steam back then. We used Hyper Lobby or connected directly with our Squadron Leader to fly missions. Anyone here from Bombs-Away.net would remember that.
