Title: DBW Request Topic
Post by: SAS~CirX on June 14, 2011, 06:29:51 PM
Offline players can use this thread to inform the developers of what they would like to have in official DBW updates.

These are the rules for this, and if the rules are not followed, a post can be deleted!

~ You can only request a mod that already exists, and is in finished and working form

~ You must provide a link to where this mod can be viewed

~ You must provide a short description of the mod and motivation for why the mod should be considered (Do not spam this topic with every and all requests you can think of! Doing this may see you loose your posting privs on the whole forum)

~ The mod must not already be contained in DBW (unless you request a specific update)

~ The mod must not already be requested in this topic

~ No "agree with" or "+1" posts to clutter this forum up please. This is not a popularity poll.

~ No non-request or other discussion posts in this thread please. This topic is for making requests, not for discussing them.

~ No online-play related requests will be alowed

Take Note:

~ A request may not be included in an update for a long time or ever. Requesting it again will not make a difference, it will merely eventually serve to have the request totally removed and ignored.

~ Requests that have been included in updates will be removed from the thread.

Handling this thread properly will result in the guys who put together the updates and expantions to DBW, to be able to get a good idea of what players would like to see in DBW.

Enjoy, and take care!

I hate to be the first but I need to know if there is an issue with the open bombdoor mod and Minimap mod by pablo since they are not in the pack. Is it safe to DL them. I though that the UP 3.0 features was in this. I just wondering and if my post sound bad it is because of my bad english I am very happy for this pack  ::)

Minimap is in this topic https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12198.0.html  Freddy`s oxygen mask mod is in this topic also
Open bombbaydorrs mod is an old mod now incoorporated in UP 3.0 and HSFX 5.01 that add a button in controls for open/ close bombbaydoors and you have to open the doors before release of ordonance and I thougth it might be a reson you left it out in this fine pack

errh The request is can these mods be in pack in future theese mod and freddyes oxgenmask mod means a lot to me for the immersion

Hello! Thank you for this awesome pack. In next update I'd like to have the Ki-44 cutoffs and the Wellington. Many thanks!

Would it be possible to have a map selector box in FMB as they have in UP3?

CirX,

I would like to see the F4U-1, "Birdcage", added to DBW. When VMF-214 first arrived in the Solomon Islands, in the spring of 1943, they flew F4F Wildcats. Eventually, they transitioned to the F4U-1 Corsair, but that was back when the group was known as "The Swashbucklers". Greg Boyington was part of a later incarnation of VMF-214 which adopted the name "Black Sheep" in late summer of 1943. From that time, VMF-214 began transitioning from the F4U-1 to the F4U-1A. When Boyington was shot down on 3 January 1944, he was flying a F4U-1A. However, his wingman, George Ashmun (MIA), was flying a F4U-1.

I have not been able to find a place to download the F4U-1. It was included in UP 2.01. I just recently made the transition to 4.10.1 specifically to be able to use UP 3.0. So, I do not know whether or not the F4U-1 is compatible with 4.10.1.

In any case, I believe the F4U-1 has enough historical significance to justify including it in the DBW, assuming the mod itself meets the technical requirements.

Cheers,

Riptide

Couple:

Bomber crew (unique faces on crew) - Slikk (I can upload somewhere if not out there)
Ranwers Carrier Crew (on v5 atm)
Fly_Zos F6F cockpit redo (again, I can provide if not out there). Provides different paint schemes, pictures, mirror, detail up etc...

Map names in QMB and in general are all over the place. There's also maps that may be different, but one might say x_winter and the other x_w appearing to be the same. Any plans to put some naming standard in place?

Also would be nice like in air.ini to put some seperators by theatre....

e.g.
Mapname - season - n     where n is a number when more than one version of a map exists (null otherwise.... )

Seperators - dunno on names, but somthing like:
Pacific
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.
Eastern Europe
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.
Channel
   Map 1
   Map 2
   Etc.

Would make it easier to go through maps and look a lot more professional.. if this is something I could fix just by editing some text files, Point me at em' and I can do and post back up if you like, or if you don't see it as a value. Better for your map expert to do though as I don't know where they belong so much.

Thanks!

New_Georgia
Biscay
BoF
Coral Islands
Donbass
SND_1940
Cuba
3BG_KTO

and then one that isn't in MapWorx, but is a few years old...That I stuck in my
SAS 3.0, the original,  large,  Zip_Alpin (not the three piece one)

In making153’s request for the Vickers Wellington, which I want too, he did not include a link so here it is (and it works in my DBW):
 https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html

I would also like to request an additional aircraft that are currently working in my version of DBW, with are:
(these are either prewar or early war aircraft, I have some late model desires too, but I’m probably already requesting too much!)

The early American fighter that competed with the Curtis P-36 and was used in some early Pacific war battles:
Seversky P-35 (by Frankiek – US Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2321.0.html

Additional important versions of the P-40:
P-40F/L (Packard Merlin V-1650-1) & P-40N v2 (by Karaya – US Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2418.0.html

Some early models of the B-25 Mitchell including the Doolittle raiders:
Early B-25s (B-25A / B-25B / B-25B Doolittle Raider) (by SAS~Riken – Twins) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13477.0.html

My favorite version of the Hurricane which seems to fly better than all the others (still wish there was a cannon armed version and a Sea version, but this one is great to fly):
Hurricane MkII Hercules (by Red_Fox90 – UK Singles) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15512.0.html

My favorite Bi-plane which is Skippers Bk-534sea armed with the 20mm cannon:
Avia-Bk-534 Sea (by SAS~Skipper - Aircraft) (Note works in my DBW) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13575.0.html
 (http://dispersalfield.ru/main/index.php/topic,216.0.html)

I want to finish with couple of questions:

Would it be possible to make a separate pack for the WWI aircraft that would be an optional addition to DBW, but would only need to be installed by those that want it?
The link is  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15875.0.html

Also is it possible to request aircraft (and get them included in DBW) if they do not currently work in DBW?

For example I would like to see included in a future update the following:

Martlet MkI & MkII (by SAS~CirX – US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,779.0.html

P-40K Beta (with re-worked tail/wings) (by Beowolff – US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8259.0.html

new Hawk - 75 (by Skipper - US Singles)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9077.0.html

Thanks … TS

Is anybody working on adapting the old 4.09 Ki-30 and Ki-51 modded aircraft to 4.101 ?

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

Being able to add these to my DBW folder would be great. Being "built in" would be fantastic.

Personnally, I very much like Russian versions of the A-20 (with the Russian spheric turret), like here :

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,10030.msg106228.html#msg106228 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,10030.msg106228.html#msg106228), and the old nullwar ones too (lost the link...).

Also, the early Avia B-534 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3592.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3592.0.html)), the French Hawk-75 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,536.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,536.0.html)), Wellington (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html)), B-24D (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13455.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13455.0.html)), F4u-4 and -5 family (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1731.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1731.0.html)). I also would like to ask for the F4U-1 (birdcage) by Muas, but it has problems with 4.101...

Would be very nice to have them !

Also, it would be very nice to have the possibility to display the maps (FMB) like in UP3.0 and HSFX, and not in the old fashioned way.

Before asking for more maps, I will wait the huge update CirX talked about... but the more maps, the best it is !

Not sure if this was already mentioned earlier, but i would love to see Ranwers' PZL P.24's included. I know there were issues with the damage model with the original mod (if i understand, these were inherited from the stock P.11c model used as a base for the mod, and the P.11 is in the meantime fixed), but these birds look fantastic and are simply essential for accurate modeling of campaigns set in the Balkans (Romania, Bulgaria, Greece all used P.24's in significant numbers, as well as the neutral Turkey).

So if it is now possible to solve the problem with the original mod it would be great to have P.24's included as a part of some future official DBW update! :)

I did a quick scan of this thread and there are a few items I did not see mentioned. Someone has already put in a good word for the WWI airplanes and I've asked for the WWI ships (i.e. "Steamboat again in the ranks"). Given the interest in WWI, I would like to see the "WWI Tank Pack -Part 1" by asheshouse added (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12226.0.html).

I understand that there will be large map package coming out soon, but, just in case, I want to mention the WWI maps as candidates for inclusion in DBW:

4.10 WWI Somme map "Updated DEC 26" by Boomer
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12210.0.html

WWI Gallipoli map *New* by Boomer

WWI Battle of Megiddo 1918 by Boomer

WWI Italian Front map by Boomer
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,11992.0.html

Also, I would like to see the D510 and D570 fighters added:

D.510/D570 (UFO) by Skipper
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13674.0.html

Cheers,

If you could see it in your heart to include Ashes original Battle of France map in some update (perhaps the big map pack) I will be as happey as a little girl!

The reason is that I've built two big 1940 campaigns for it, one French ("To Lose a Battle") and one German ("Triumph in the West").  :D

Is there a mod out there which allows ground starts on the ramp as compared to always lined up on the runway?  Along with this would be the need for AI taxi ability.  Would be a real plus, especially for DCG and regular offline missions/campaigns!

No, there isn't, but it has been requested. There is also a new feature in the official 4.11 patch that allows aircraft to spawn or start anywhere you place a static aircraft -but the AI will try to takeoff straight from that spawn point  :D

Those of us who fly jets off the Collossus, USS Boxer (with catapult) and USS Valley Forge (with catapult) cannot share missions or campaigns through DBW because these features are not available.

The Vickers Wellington may have been ignored so far because it is wrongly flagged as a 4.09 Mod.  It is fine inside DBW and works without a hitch.  Could you please look into the inclusion of this fine aircraft?

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2737.0.html)

it is not "wrongly flagged" . it is a 409 mod. it will be included when the 4.101 version is finished. Remeber, just because it does not immediately crash your game, does not mean it is working.

What does the catapult fix do? you put a link to a download, not to a thread.

As for the carriers, pack them up for DBW and send them to me, and I'll include them.
 :)

Thanks for the news on the Wellington, look forward to it.

The catapult fix is in the same thread as the Korean carriers, that's all we got.  They are replacement classfiles, pretty self explanatory.  The Korean Carriers are in DBW but don't have cats like the Illustrious and a few others.  I will try and sort out the files for you if you like.

The Collossus already has working cats so it is good to go right away.  Will you consider including that ship in the next DBW build?

I finally got the Formosa map going, and I noticed that it only had one airfield.
The old ag_Formosa map for 4.09 had 9 airfields.
I don't understand why we use this version.

DBW makes finally sense for me to bring the KriegsMarine to life, with their own Carrier force.
This is a long time idea of mine, have hads it since pacific fighters came out, but never got anywhere with all the mod updates and stuff.
The idea is to make a complete Krieggsmarine Campaign from 1939 onwards... in several Parts

Based in Wilhelmshafen, the german carrier Force will
*operate in local waters, (denmark)
*against France , belgium and NL
*attempt to take Part in BoB
*Help in Norway
*be split in two, one carrier in the Atlantik to go Convoy hunting
*and one in the north near Murmansk
*attempt to get into the Med...
*kick the Portuguese out of the Azores, or maybe not...
.
.
.
.

Based on 109t and Stuka-C, work has begun, but more tools are needed.

This campaign needing a large collection of Mods, i would like to propose the Fw 190 T for inclusion [4.09 only so far?]
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9350.0.html

as well as the Arado 196 T [flagged as 4.10 ready]
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8374.0.html

A needed concurrent for 1943 is the Mk IIC Seacane with Hispano Cannons
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14699.0.html

the Avia BK534 for carrier training, not a primary need.

In a post here on ordinance release mod

Anto quoted

Quote
Use the new AI Engines Hotkeys mod included (in beta stage). If you look in your Controls section, under your weapon triggers there is a new assignable key called "Weapon Fire Mode". Allows you to set single, paired (default) or full release of rockets/bombs. If the default release is in clusters for rockets, then it will release in half cluster, normal cluster and all rockets.

There is no key for delay at the moment, as there were difficulties trying to merge the above mentioned mod

Is it possible to adjust AI Engine Hotkeys mod so that aircraft with internal bomb bays are affected by this to please? At the moment i think it is only external stores.

Also, is it possible to get the bomb delay setting working please?

thank you

This doesn't affect me directly (since I already have added this aircraft to my DBW folder), but I noticed that the "FM-1_GM" is not included in the sfs files, and I can't even find it as a download anymore. It was listed as 4.101 compatable, and seems important for 1943 CVL operations.
Is there a reason that this important aircraft is gone?
I realize that we could always use the FM-2, as a replacement, but this aircraft wasn't available until 1944.

I would like to ask to improve low-altitude AI-behaviour of some heavy bombers. For example in QMB, Moscow-winter, altitude 100m.  AI-aces of B-17,B-24 are used to collide with the ground after some time. While AI-aces of Lankaster,Galifax, and (can't recall exactly) Pe-8 can fly at the altitude almost without colliding the ground.
It would be nice to to improve AI behaviour of B-17,B-24 to prevent collisions with the ground.

Please, do not ask for new mods here, ask for new mods in the request section?
This thread is to "include" mods that already exist in a finished form into DBW...

A request about the way DBW is being structured - would it be possible to upload the new patches as single files, and possibly periodically re-release everything up to the current version in a single file (for example once DBW 1.5 is finished, release DBW 1.0->1.5 as a single package)?

It's very, very hard to manage small(er) archives when you're HDD limited and you're not subscribed to any of the file sharing servers - I have to wait between 15 to 30 minutes to download the package, then decompress them and then merge into a single package. It takes a lot of times and HDD space...

Plus, between realizing that UP3RC meant it wasn't the final version (sigh... when English isn't your native tongue) and DBW's frequent updates, I just can't store everything and once an install is messed up, here I go again downloading everything.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, DBW is fantastic - but modding in general for Il-2 is starting to really push the limits of the hardware, and not just the graphics anymore. Please guys, if possible, provide some "all-in-one, ready-to-install" periodical download.

PS. Also, something I haven't yet noticed in DBW - is Sani's AI overheating engine included into the pack? If not, would it be possible to include it? For an offline player having "fair" AI is essential, now that we have more realistic engines, g-limits etc.

what kind of Hard drive you using?
ever considered an additional hard drive to store that stuff?
25-60 eurobucks get you a anything between 320 to 1000 Gigabyte extra.

worth the investment compared to the hasle and bandwith useage.
store the files on the extra hard drive, and sleep fine.
copy (backup) your pictures and feel better.
use the more available bandwith to download STAMP COLLECTIONS (edited)
use the more available time to share these STAMP COLLECTIONS with your Girlfriend.
she will appreciate it.

bigger hard drives improve Life quality. At least that´s my experience...

Something I would very much appreciate and that is adding the "Flyby Sounds" of Tiger33's mod. I prefer Jafa's sounds for every thing else, but Tiger's flyby sounds make for much greater immersion for me. I am not talking about the whole mod, just the flyby portion. Jiver's sound mod is great in all respects except the flyby sound is weak compared to Tiger33's. Is it possible to mod the classfiles so it will work in DBW?

I have tried several times to add the WW1 planes to DBW without success, they do not show up in the FMB plane list and the oldest date for a mission in FMB is 1930 thus there is no way to create a mission with a 1917's plane !

there will be no futher new planes added to DBW untill we have succesfully solved the java1.3 limitation.

And at the moment we recommend one adds no more than 10 additional planes to any DBW build.

And before someone comes and screams at me again: this is NOT a bug with DBW, it is a limitation of the version of Java the game was written in. DBW is by far the largest and most comprehensive evolution of IL2 ever, and so you shou;ld expect to hit the ceiling of the game engine much sooner from it, if you install many additional classfiles based mods by yourself.

They only reason you dont see this phenomenon so much in other packs is because they are significantly "lighter" in overall content (not only in planes", and of course you wont see it in stock + modact with few mods, because that is absolutely puny compared to DBW.

I'm sure that many, many wants to see the B-26 as soon as possible added to the game, simply because it's a very important WW2 aircraft.

Wouldn't it be possible in the next Build to lift out something a bit more exotic and not too frequently used, like the driveable Jeep or Kubelwagen? (They can be added later, when the Java-wall has been breached.) And insert the B-26 instead?

BTW: Build 1.5 is super. Thanks!!!

With the B-26 on board I see the need of more acurate Flack at 2500 - 3000 mtrs, When these planes operate in European theatre  they rearly met fighteroppotition since they had to deal with the heavyes on higher altitudes. I know this because I have read articles in big numbers covering the B-26 mostly over french territory during daytime missions. They suffered big time due to radar equipped 88's accurate flack.
I have put 88 battery and ordenary 88 in big numbers under flightpath of B26 and recived no hits.
Is it possible to make Flack more accurate in this altitude?
Title: Re: DBW Request Topic
Post by: Whiskey_Sierra_972 on August 10, 2011, 06:04:13 AM
Try to add less 88 batteries (less accurate aiming but with high rate of fire) and add the 88 single guns (more accurate aiming but low rate of fire)!!!

Try to add a single battery and 3 gun each flight of 4 B-26....it should be quite precise....then change the balance as you think better....

The B26 is great and all, but why not wait.until its a perfect, finished product?
But truth be told there are more than a few aircraft I could see being culled from the roster in order to make room (lerche anyone?)
But really, neither DBW or UP are ever going to get finished if we keep demanding more additions.

What about adding Chinese Voice Pack to Forgotten Countries:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,4057.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,4057.0.html)

It would go for:
- all Chinese fractions (PLA blue/red, China)
- as a placeholder for North/South Korea red/blue (Chinese is more familiar to Korean then Japanese AFAIK)
- as a placeholder for all other eastern asian countries (e.g. Vietnam North/South, Thailand) that ATM use other speach packs then Japanese (e.g. German)

Also some other sugestions for FC (maybe it's wrong thread but it is inlcuded in DBW DL, so...):
- for Taiwan voice pack - replacing german voicepack would be nice - I think there should be Chinese VP used for ground control and US for pilots (most, if not all pilots that flew in Taiwan during Taiwan Straight Crisis were Amarican)
- Also squadrons from Taiwan should be added to pre-war China - Taiwan's actual name was Republic of China and that would make red-sided Taiwan possible. There should be US pack used for pilots in that squadron I think (same way as e.g. Polish is used for Polish RAF squadrons).
- that may be personal, but adding Taiwan and USA on blue side for Static Planes would be nice.

Other requests:

- PAL MiniMap 2.4 (not sure if it ain't already requested): https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15003.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15003.0.html)

- C&C v2.0: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16973.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16973.0.html)

- not sure if it's proper thread but navigation instruments in Jetwar '56 planes are useless ATM: there are basicly 2 things to do here:
  - make beacons, hayrake, civilian radios etc. selectable again - I have no idea why they aren't now
  - make pointer on gyrocompass stick, and turn togeather with dial, I mean the way it's done in HSFX 5 - otherwise gyrocompass is useless as well

If some of these requests are doubled, then sorry, I didn't read the whole thread (many new posts arrived when I was writing this BTW)

Ranwers Browninig .50 cal version of this mod

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3945.0.html

the link is to the Jeep with MG, for those too lazy to click...  ;)
i'd love this, as well - i feel naked riding in the jeep without the comforting barrel of the '50 to accompany me... :D
just a thought, instead of a separate slot, isn't it possible to make the .50 as a loadout for the Jeep, thus saving a classfile or two?
or will that method mean extra classfiles?   ::)

Agree, or just replace the jeep w/o mg by the one with...the ones who don't want an mg can just select "empty" loadout

SHIPS

Hi,

there are loads of new ships and repaints out there:

the IJN carriers in different camouflages,
Italian battleships,
US-destroyers
transports
...

all of them would make a great add-on to DBW. Please !!!

if this has been requested already ... well, sorry for this mail, but all the better for DBW .

cheers

One more thing from me - though Infantry and Mortars mod: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9530.60.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,9530.60.html) ss listed as included in UP3, it's not there, bc stationary.ini entries aren't (technics.ini entries are in their place). Just thought that not everyone will figure it out, so maybe you can add them in one of releases.

EDIT: Seems that whole mod is missing, except of technics.ini entries, cause there is 70% CTD if I only add stationary.ini entries, without the rest of the mod.

I'd like to propose that the DBW review two old mods for possible inclusion in DBW:

1) PZL p.24: This was the export version of the P.11c, used with varying degrees of success by Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. It was virtually identical to the P.11c, except for improved engines and armament (specifications varied depending on model).

There was a PZL p.24 mod released on Aviaskins which looked good, but which apparently had serious problems. Since the P.11c model was improved with the release of the 4.09 patch, would it be possible to revisit this mod? 3d modeling looks good and it appears to work in 4.101.

2) Malvinas/Falklands Islands Map: This was one of the first mod maps, done by Real Darko a couple years back. It is a small, simple map which uses stock textures and appears to work in 4.101. With the increased selection of jets, and with both an A-4 Skyhawk and a Harrier in development, it's possible that we might be able to reenact aspects of the 1982 Falklands conflict.

Hi all!
Supposing that it was not requested earlier I would like to request for new cockpits for the P-51 family... DBW is great, really amazing, however having seen the Histomod`s P-51...I mean Freddy`s pit for this plane - I was astonished... But hey... My PC was not  :P It`s eating my FPS like crazy, so I would request to optimise in some way Freddy`s pits for Mustangs and release it in one of the next releases. It`s the most beautiful pit ever in my opinion. If it isn`t possible than maybe making a new one as the Stang really needs some fresh air.
My 2 cents.
Peace.

Now that we don't have a volunteer thread for time intensive tasks yet, I'm left with nothing but pointing you towards this board:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,65.0.html

If you have finished optimizing Freddy's Pit for midrange PCs please let us know, many of us do like Freddy's work very much as well.

I guess Bakimaster91 was referring to FPS drops on mediocre computers, which is a well known fact for high detail cockpits like Freddy's ones.
Now that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, it'd be quite hard to create comparable cockpits to the ones done by Freddy without the regarding CPU/GPU load. If it was that easy, Freddy would have done it already ;)

Best regards - Mike

I would like to have the ability to fly the Bf-109K-6 and K-14 without the wing cannons. You used to be able to do so in the 4.09m version of the 109 pack. Now, the loadouts that used to remove the wing cannons still exist, but they no longer delete the wing cannons.

Just some oldies that would do great in 1.7:
Dewoitine D-510 & 570 by Skipper https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13674.msg144005.html#msg144005

Ford Trimotor https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14945.0.html by 160th~Aiko

DH-89 Dragon Rapide https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15817.0.html (unknown author)

Autogyro by Skipper https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16065.0.html

and, if someone could make it work for 4.10.1, Junkers F-13 (W-34)  by Skipper (It looks like I love Skipper's stuff, and I do) https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,10335.0.html

All of them are important for 30s and SCW scenarios and, of course, are real fun to fly.

Also the Central Spain map by RedEye_Jir https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,18640.0.html which is the best map of Spanish territory, by far. But I guess you already have this in the pipeline, don't you?
Thanks for great DBW
Title: Re: DBW Request Topic
Post by: juanmalapuente on October 07, 2011, 09:01:13 AM
Thanks a lot, crazyflak. Actually both DH-89 and Trimotor are important in SCW. DH-89 was used along the whole war, first as bomber and then as trainer an liaison. There only was a trimotor in service in SCW that worked as transport along the 3 years, but as most people, I use it also as the best aproximation to Fokker F-VII 3m which not only was transport but also bomber and a very important one along the first year. It also can be used for other Fokker trimotors that participated as bombers and transports, such as F-VIII, F-IX, F-XVIII, F-XX...
But I understand the limits question of the Java code.
I only wanted to know if they were going in any update to avoid the duplication of entries that you always adviced.
Hope something can be worked out anyway.

What I like to see is the CY6 Command and Control mod updated to v2!

Yes, duplication is being seriously worked on... and merging variants in a single slot (where reasonable) is being done.

It seems like this would be a good method of adding new plane variants without the need to add new slots.

What makes it possible to merge slots?

Just weapon loadouts with identical FM and DM?

Is it possible to merge slots for planes which have slightly different engine performance, but which are aerodynamically identical (i.e., slightly uprated or downrated engine, but identical center of gravity and trivial change in mass)?

Is is possible to combine slots for planes which just have different fuel loadouts (i.e., more or fewer fuel tanks, bigger or smaller tanks, self-sealing vs. unsealable tanks)? I could see this working if you create an internal, invisible undroppable "drop tank" to simulate things like "Tokyo tanks" in the B-24, or external undroppable tanks like the "Dauchelbach" tank on the Bf-110D.

Is it possible to add "kamikaze" versions of a particular aircraft as "weapon" loadouts? That is, give the plane an internal undroppable "bomb" (if the fuselage was loaded with explosives) loadout and change its AI behavior to dive into ships.

I recently downloaded a map of "Rio de la Plata" by GAEv.  It includes parts of Uruguay, Brasil, and Argentina which make up the River Plate where the pocket battleship Graf Spee met it's end.  It works for me and it looks like a very useful map which should be included in the next update.

You can find it in the lounge as it hasn't been moved to the maps section under the reference ...

So far, if you merge 2 slots, you eliminate FM differences... although you can use some tricks for fuel amount or weight...

So, merging slots means identical FM and cockpits, but, in theory, DM could vary if you include things like added fuel tanks or guns as "ordinance."

In fact what you mention "internal fuel tank non-droppable" is just what I need for P-39s since some variants otherwise identical had reduced internal tanks but could be added back in the field. I am sure the "non-droppable" characteristic can be done, which opens some possibilities.

It seems to me that making internal (i.e., invisible), non-droppable fuel tanks, bombs or guns would be an easy trick. Just create an appropriately sized rectangle or cylinder in 3ds Max and do what's needed to get it into the game. No textures or no shadow model needed (it's internal), and no LOD work needed (after all, it's already at the minimum possible number of polygons). In fact it sounds like a really good project for a beginning 3d modeler.

Change of AI within same slot is not possible yet, we would need to modify AI class to let the game know that ANY pilot in ANY plane must behave as Kamikaze if it has X loadout.

This sounds more like an AI problem than a slot problem. The kamikaze option should be a loadout option, with a full load of bombs and possibly internally mounted bombs.

For kamikaze behavior, it might be possible to rework the code for the Mistel, Fritz X or Azon bombs and add "kamikaze/missile" it as a new waypoint option for aircraft in the FMB, with further option of target type - ship, ground vehicle, stationary aircraft, flying aircraft (for "taran" or ramming attacks), or specific map location. But that's another project.

It would be really great if the horse drawn vehicles could be included in both DBW 1916 and DBW. This way horse drawn vehicles could be included not only in WWI missions but also in Spanish Civil War and WWII missions.

Here's a request to change the national marking set-up for Corsair Mk.I such that if USMC or USN is selected as the nationality, no national marking (no white star on blue circle) but only plane number is shown.  That way people can use skins with the proper insignia which tends to work better for this plane.

Cheers,

Is it possible to turn off (in Quick Mission Builder) the Ground-Controller command/voice: "Our mission is accomplished - we are returning to base/home". It is very bad to hear it during the middle of dogfighting as after the voice the "another friendly 16-planes" start to fly home leaving "my 16-planes" against enemy.

I'd like to second this motion, although I don't mind adding new objects myself I have tried adding some of the new ones lately and have gotten the old 70% crash memory issue.Hopefully all will be fixed in the 1.7 build.

Try this JGME framework pack. (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19921.0.html) It includes these new objects and you do not need to mess with your inis, as they are separated from your vanilla install by being packaged within the packs.  The pack I created contains parts 1 - 3, but looks like I will have to add 4 - 6!  Sweet!

though in the pack I created, if you fly the pacific the static pack also includes:
Carrier Crew v5
Plutonium UME v1
Stationary Planes v1.6

along with Eperviers vehicle sets 1 - 3.

All in all though, if you wanted to add sets 4 - 6, you can do it easily in the static pack and update the related inis contains there.  No need to mess with vanilla DBW.  If something causes load failure, then simply disable the mod via GME.

Works great!

And please check the Reticle of the P39 series back again to US Sights. Maybe it is possible to make a script that change the reticle if USSR is choose. But I can hardly believe that the russians change every gunsight in their P39, and its strange to use the USSR Reticles if fly this plane as USA or RAF.

And please please please an option to fire the cowling MGs in EVERY Fw 190 A modell as it was in unpatched originale buy version of the first Il2. It was so this way in reality !!!

i have once post a scan from a book where the gunsight is explained and it says it feature full options to choose which cannos are fired together.........why ? because i fîng hat waste cannon ammo for a target which I could easily finish with mgs. all other planes has this options and the germans did not choose it on the FW190 ? for sure not

Is it possible to save different trim settings for each aircraft (in future)? For example, the (messed up 4.10m  >:() Spitfire FM needs at least 30 positive elevator trim "clicks" to have a relatively stable flight. So i already have RSI before pulling the trigger.  ;)

Got DBW + DCG to work (very excited),  started the Extended Solomons Campaign and to my horror . . . no F4U-1 !!!

The most important plane of the most pivital 6 months of the Pacific War , and it's been omitted ?

I know people like to fart around in Tiger Moths and Harvards or the 50 variants of Spits and Me's (not to mention post-war jets), which is fine, but I do believe we need to make space for a plane that changed the tide of the war.

Actually the only difference (AFAIK) between the Corsair Mk. 1 (which is in the game) and the F4U-1 is the name and the american bomb loadouts.
So making a new one shouldn't be so difficult.

I added it to my #DBW_MOD_Aircraft Clean JGME pack and it works great!  Simply update one line in the air.ini inside the pack with the entry noted in the above thread, and you should be good to go.

I don't know if I'm late for asking new planes to be included in 1.7, but I think these last month, a lot of good stuff has appeared and list of planes in could be revised :)
For instance, all the new material of DreamK: Heinkel He-46, Romeo Ro-37, Breda Ba-65 is great and very important for many scenarios.
Now I've just tried the new 4.11 Henschel Hs-123, made available for DBW users mercy a Epervier, I think It would be better to replace the franken Hs-123 we had (which has been making a really good job until now) by these new ones, or at least one of them, if DT give their permission.
I guess you're telling me that this is all 1.8 theme of discussion, but I had to try ;).

As I understand it DBW 1.7 is preatty much a bugfix and slotreducing patch, many mods lately that would be interesting having in, is yet on beta stage. 1.8 buildt will be the one update that will be implementing more of the requested mods.
We need to know what future base the DBW pack is going to be based on. before a major add will be implemented.
Mind you this is only my understanding of what lay ahead. The planning is preatty much based on a mix between what users want and what is actually possible and make sence to do

Hello Guys,

may I add a few toughts to this topic?

The Me109G-5/AS:

Some newly built G-5 was sent directly from Erla-Leipzig to Erla-Antwerpen for installing the AS-engine, which was not unique btw. At Antwerpen they did not only change the engine. They also attached a new Erla-canopy, indicated by the tubular frame at the rear cockpit. And they got rid of the equipment for pressurizing the cabin. To ventilate the now sealed cabin, they added those air-scoops beneath the forward canopy-frame. And they added also small rectangular flaps in the fuselage directly under the cockpit. These flaps ("Belüftungsklappe" in Ersatzteilliste) were moveable from the inside and could be opened to improve airflow. They were regular items on non-pressurized Gustavs. Both features are clearly recognizable on any G-5/AS fotos. And finally they rebuilt the GM-1-device as to deliver MW-50, which is clear from the “C3”-triangle which all G-5/AS had. These G-5/AS also had the type 100 'asymetrical cowl', meaning, it had the charactoristic AS buldges on each side, but the left was much more shallow then the right side. Almost like the current G-10 erla in DBW 1.7, but without the flat plate on the left rear cowl.

As Luftwaffe was not happy with the cabin of the G-5s, at some later date it war ordered to dismantle the compressor for recycling. I do not know, whether the Baureihenbezeichnung of such aircraft was changed from G-5 to G-6. But I don’t think so, as in spite of lacking the compressor, the airframe itself remained different in many ways to G-6. I’ll tend to the Baureihenbezeichnung ”G-5/U2 AS” name.

So whats this rambling of mine about? The in-game G-5/AS lacks three fundlemental features that make a G-5/AS a G-5/AS. The lack of the Erla-Haube, the late G-6 cockpit, and MW-50 (which all G-5/AS had). So, if these could be added to the next batch, it would make it more historically accurate.

My appologies if this is too much to ask or if I offended anybody.

Kind regards.

another 109...
called G5, but with the G6 features.

if we had every 109 veriant ever built or found in the books, we wouldnt be able to have anything else...
the Luftwaffe sure had a massive amounts of 109 variants of all sorts in use...

?

DBW 1.7 was especially designed to reduce, or "fusion" a large amount of planes, in order to save space.
Other variants can be used, as external add-ins.

well there are 34 variants of spitfires too.. anyways,

Not another 109, just correct the existing G-5/AS to be more historically correct.

I would love to have the ability to control the brightness of reflector sights.  Certain planes have really "busy" gunsights, so much so that it can be difficult to see your target thru the sight if you're in wide view.  Something like a control similar to the reticle dimmer, only changing how bright your crosshairs show up.  I don't know if this is even possible to put into a mod, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I would like to see included the tropicalised Hurricane fighters that were in UP2 I think.  I built a 14 mission Malta campaign (George Cross Island) which is on M4T but with more recent modpacks the Hurricanes have gone so the campaign is obsolete.  Like the Hurricane I suppose.

Hi!

I know that DBW 1.71 is just out and I came here to make a reuest but accepting the public hate I go with it:

I have installed the Twister V1 mods that give the game a V1 in two version: the first  as a AI plane so we can set intercepting mission without FMB struggle and the second a drivable V1 that if used by AI when under attack make some limited evasive manouver....

ATM I'm using both as remote target for training mission with guns and missiles....so I was wondering (this is my request) if is possible develop in a similar way the new KS-1 missiles to give us some more immersive flying target....

All the best at all!!

We can use ashehouse's RN HMS J class destroyers (Jupiter / Napier / Javelin / Kipling) in DBW1.71.
I think... these ships are contained UP3.0RC4 sfs, aren't them?

But these J class destroyers are old version1 with many 3D problems.

ashehouse released version2 and 3.

I want to apply this new and problems solved version2 and 3 onto DBW1.71.

But I copy ShipAshe folder with J class 3do folder to #DBW folder...
IL-2 DBW1.71 crashes before splash screen.

Windows error dialog shows this.

So, I can't apply ashehouse's bugfix new version onto DBW1.71.

Here is my request.
When the same name 3do folder existing between in *.sfs and #DBW, #DBW ones superior and enabled.
Then we can apply bugfix, new version as we hope.

May be in this thread somewhere, but "Offline RRR" is needed.  Too often, I fly a DCG campaign only to find I am out of ammo or low on fuel and would really enjoy attempting to land a base, RRR while battle continues overhead or nearby, and then go back up.  Even for ground attack, there is value given the ability to rearm with ordinance and go back out to finish off target or seek out others in a given mission.

Definitely an "Offline RRR" for DBW would be excellent.

PS:  if squad/flight/wingman AI could also be commanded to RRR, that would be the icing on the cake!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

There used to be a mod(way back) that eliminated the AI always using their nav lights and landing lights - generally discouraged in combat areas. Also , as of now in my game , the AI landing lights are on even in daylight.

It seems senseless to me.
What do other people think?

It's been a long time since I made a request in this section, and I don't remember if it was related to this same topic: DBW 1936.
I proposed this some months ago, may be then was only an idea but now it's becoming a need. With the incredible pace of production that we had lately, It's more justified than ever to make this split. Only in new aircraft we have dozens, and some people is reaching java limit already, apparently.
The same way there's DBW 1916, this would make sense even though could be a little limiting, considering many 30s aircraft participated in WWII.
Anyway, there're plenty of mods of the 30s, good for China, Chaco, SCW or simply civil aircraft, that would fit here better than anywhere else, not to talk about maps and other mods.
Thanks in advance.
Title: Re: DBW Request Topic
Post by: SAS~Malone on June 27, 2012, 03:01:03 AM
the java limit is unavoidable, it WILL eventually happen to everyone as they keep adding more planes.
the best solution, imho, is to have separated air.ini files, divided into different era's, or however you like.
so, for SCW scenario, you use an edited air.ini with only the SCW planes in it, and similar for other era's.
so, instead of asking the modders to create whole new sub-packs, you can achieve similar results by yourself, relatively easily.
and this way, you should be able to avoid the java limit problem completely. ;)

I think RRR is almost useless for offliners, because your entire squad will land and stop fighting, only you will takeoff again to fight alone against all the enemies.

LOL if only it was that easy...

Well, the enemy will land too ;) Solution is easy, just copy a flight in FMB, and paste it on the same locations, only some time after that...or in other locations, etc...
And the same for friendly flights...
Bit more work for mission builders, but I guess when playing the mission it will be very immersive...

Title: Re: DBW Request Topic

That would work for the enemies. But you would need to have unlimited ammo and fuel selected to be able to take off 3 or 4 times, like in real life. :-\

It's not a solution, because you can't use the autopilot anymore and then you can't use the time compression and these two things are so important to an offline mission. :(
I think it's more easy to make your squad rearm and refuel and takeoff again. :P

Well, if you fly 100% realistic then autopilot and time compression arent a problem ::) also if you really want to make the time pass, trim your plane and do it. No need for Autopilot...at least IMO

I know this has been mentioned already, but I too think that RRR for offline play would be wonderful! It would add so much to the game.

Please give the UBS and the 50cal and the italian HMG the same smoke lines as all other MGs. These 3 Weapons used different smoke lines in the DBW, not from a seperate effect mod

BTW, is it possible to do something against the Tu-2 SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE evasive action ?

@KG3_V, Does the MG17 fire separately of the four 20mm cannons on the Fw 190 ?

Im pretty sure it was so. Also you find information about the 190 Revi that it was possible for the pilot to choose the gun combination he wanted to use. for me it was always a damn waste of ammo the the cannons fire together with the mgs. so you waste ammo for a target which is able to finish with mgs.

Then, make AI to RRR too.  :)
LOL if only it was that easy...

I think RRR is almost useless for offliners, because your entire squad will land and stop fighting, only you will takeoff again to fight alone against all the enemies.

Well, the enemy will land too ;) Solution is easy, just copy a flight in FMB, and paste it on the same locations, only some time after that...or in other locations, etc...
And the same for friendly flights...
Bit more work for mission builders, but I guess when playing the mission it will be very immersive...

I would also love to see Ultrapack's R/R/R in DBW.

The reason is, I currently have Lowengin's DCG4DBW generating dynamic missions for Midway. I take off from Midway, fly on a mission and complete it. After the mission, my flight returns to base, damaged and low on fuel & ammo. Then the Japanese zeros come and shoot up my entire flight of planes, which by this time has landed and are "sitting ducks". This spoils a mission that was successful up until then. If you are not the flight leader, there is no way of telling your flight to stay in the air, so they just land and wait for destruction.

I also agree it would be very cool to be able to refuel the "flight" of 4 planes, and as flight leader, make them take off again to defend Midway. That's what you'd expect would happen in the real world. I guess its asking a lot, but R/R/R is an extremely cool feature that I reckon should be in DBW, even if its just the basic R/R/R that currently exists in UP3.

Its quite frustrating to sit in your plane after a successful mission, watching your landed squadron get decimated by a couple of rowdy zeros. If even just my plane could rearm and patrol the air above the airfield, I'd have a chance at saving them.

You can find it in the lounge as it hasn't been moved to the maps section under the reference ...

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,18887.0.html

This is a second request for this map to be included in the next update of DBW.  I'm also requesting that the above referenced post be moved to the maps section.

Quick Mission - it's frustrating to be limited to about a dozen maps when there are, what, a hundred or more for the Full Mission creator.

Please add some.

Ok, I'll try getting DCG and UP3 working. I suspect the Midway map included in DBW was better tho.

I believe those two are mutually exclusive.
If I recall correctly UP does not work with DCG for some reason.

Yes, seems UP3 and DCG don't work. I spent several hours getting UP3 and DCG working to generate a Midway campaign last weekend, on full-auto mission generation.

It "almost works", but had two problems... DCG generated the first mission, but it was missing all enemy planes. This *might* be caused by my config settings, so maybe no biggie.

But when the mission ends, IL-2 hangs when quitting back to the next briefing screen.  I guess this is the issue some ppl mentioned about DCG not being able to read the mission "results" file due to extra encryption added in UP3. (I can't quite remember the name of the file).

Sorry, I guess this has been off topic... feel free to delete any/all of my posts.

Hey Guys,

In the interest of subverting a few member meltdowns I would add that there is a thread around here somewhere of a member/modder attempting to update DCG to be compatible with DBW and or UP3.
Forgive me I can't remember who , or what board it is on.

Question. Whether it is possible as ??????, to clean 3d zero models from JapanCat? That zero were usual. Because 90 % of skins don't approach to them especially from the old companies.

Hi guys, i've read about future SAS activities and DBW projects. I want to sincerely thanks everyone involved and -although not often operative here in this period- i'm looking with great positivity towards our sim's future :)

about the DBW19*6 series, i'm absolutely not competent in coding/packing/randomstuffs but i'm curious about a possible "integration" of DBWs in the same IL2 installation..

so one can install DBW, then add 1916, 1936, 1956 and so on, or leave them standalone in another installation, something like the original IL2 / PF / IL2+PF spirit, of course IF possible :)

Keep up the excellent work, and a big hug to the community :)

S!

Landscape not showing in Gallipoli map DBW 1916., I 've reinstalled and installed  in as so many times & different orders now of 1916 "update" + patches. still No gallipoli landscape, maps  pics/tgas. etc. is the rc not loading from one of the sfs map files ? No Gallipoli maps available in either DBW and DBW 1916. I get gallipoli landscape loading error in both FMB and qmb. both versions.
any help greatly appreciated.

Hi everybody
I would like to suggest the creation of a mod that simulates the use of a sunglass by the pilot.
With the new pilots from Barnesy, we would have the same vision that the real pilots use to have in real life, as it seems that most of the pilots use to wear sunglasses to avoid the effects of the sunlight.
I think that this kind of mod should not be so difficult to create, as compared to what our great and talented mod comunity is capable of.
All the best

A few things that would tremendously enhance the visual experience in this game are 3d grass, dynamic waves that wash up on beaches, higher resolution ships, and higher resolution runways. I don't know if these are possible due to the age of the game, but they would be awesome to see!!

Hello all.
If it is possible no invisible trees were great. the trees can stay but if you are low flying they must be visible example: here i was flying deep and...

https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/dead/dead.gif

Boom this happened because i cant see the trees

https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/dead/dead.gif

they float in the air as discs no treewoodlimberlumber (dont know the correct word sorry) to the ground, only visible from above not by directly flying towards it

"maybe it's time for" doesn't mean that it can be. Sorry but it doesn't sound "that" simple. However, once we can get a stable code work with our core java class, it is considerable.

yeah, these things take time.
we are not a factory that can just push out new stuff the second there is a new patch.
of course, we have long since been considering a new DBW, but the reality is that it's still some way off, if it even happens at all.
please, no requests for a new DBW. if/when we can do it, we will.

OK, thanx, and sorry for my impatience, but 4.12 is very promising. And I can't wait to have it with goodies from excellent DBW 1.71.
So in the meantime I will use SAS Mod Activator v5.1 for 4.12m (maybe it will make possible to import some mods from DBW):

A great addition to DBW next version would be a p-40 pack consisting of the p-40F, p-40N, and P-40L. Here's why: at around 14,000 the p-40 is the third most produced US fighter ever. The largest in numbers, and best variant was the p-40N. It was the final production model and included a 1,360hp motor. It could achieve a top speed of 378 mph. This would be a great addition to DBW and would enhance gameplay in China, MTO, and PTO. It was flown until the end of the war.

Here are links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_P-40_variants; http://www.p40warhawk.com/Variants/P-40N.htm

I have another request...would it be possible to replace the in game trees with much better trees such as these: http://www.3dmentor.ru/free-models.html ; and these: http://www.klicker.de/plants.html. The trees in Il-2 (especially the Palm trees, 2d Banana trees, and layered forest trees. If the next DBW included updated trees such as these it would really improve the virtual environment IMO.

It would be great to see The Full Monty and DBW 1.71 in one big pack already merge into one pice without those problems with instalation. Just d/l, unzip, open one instalation program and than simply launch Il.
