Hi,
I’m using UP3 - DBW 1.3 installation. I’m using for the first time #DBW_MissionPro Combo by PAL.
When I want to run EastFront_Kiew map or Pacific_Philipines map I have the following error:
Mission loading failed: Mesh3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created
How to solve this problem???
-
In general this is a memory problem.
Try inserting different RAM values in the Selector, for instance 512 or 1024......
-
Edit your conf.ini file (you can find it in your IL-2 game folder).
Scroll down to section [Render_OpenGL] and set the following two parameters as follows (the parameters are already in that section, just change them to these values):
TexCompress=2
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1
Best regards - Mike
-
Thanks for your answers!
Storebror you were right! TexCompress was the problem.
Everything working fine now :)
Do you know btw if there is a link to optimize me video card' settings for il2? (I've got a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT)

I had the same problem. My TexFlags was already 1, but my TexCompress was 0. I changed it to 2 and BINGO, campaign loads fine.
My question is.....Why does this work????.....My tiny brain does not understand.

Why does this work????
Okay, let's split the answer:
- Why does setting the two TexCompress Flags in conf.ini solve the famous Paratroopers mission load error issue?
This error ("Mission loading failed: Mesh3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created") occurs while textures are loaded into your graphics card's memory. When the size of these textures exceeds the memory limits of your graphics card, mission loading stops with this error message. - Why is it always the Paratroopers causing this error?
It isn't. Forget about the error message contents, it's plain bullshit. - So what exactly do these parameters do?
They let your system compress the textures with a so called "S3TC" texture compression algorithm, which gives a very good performance and much reduced texture size with just a slightly loss of texture quality (regarding quality however the implementation of S3TC, depending on your graphics driver, might cause slightly frayed texture edges). - Why do I need to set two parameters for just one thing?
Good question. Maybe just to confuse the russians ;)
Joking aside, one parameter would logically do, but things are like they are, don't waste time worrying about it. - What happens if I set just one of the two parameters?
Simply said, it just won't do the trick. You need to set both in order to get the texture compression to work correctly. - Okay, got it. But now I forgot the right flag parameter's names and settings...
No problem, here you go:
In your IL-2 game folder you'll find a file "conf.ini". Open this in notepad (or your favourite text editor) and set these two parameters in the section [Render_OpenGL] accordingly:
TexCompress=2
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1
Hope that helps...
Best regards - Mike

Thank you. The basic idea makes sense, but the details are beyond me.
I don't understand why this never happened with my old computer that only had 512 MB of RAM.It only started with UP3 and DBW.
-
"like" "+1" encountered the thing numerous times over the last 72 hours, never found a solution
thank you, gentlemen.
-
"You must not have ever had Canons new English Channel map installed then"
With my old computer, the map would load, but it would produce an unflyable slide show.

Thanks, Storebror!
For the first time a clear explanation.
I put a .txt-file with your text in my install, to remember....
-
Thanks to all. This should be a sticky somewhere. My group and I are new to the Modded version and a couple of the guys were getting this error whereas the rest of us were just fine.
I've taken this info and passed it to them and it should do the trick.
;)

Thank you very much! From one month I could'n play to my favorite game cause to this problem
-
I have this problem when I select 1024 memory size, and not when I select 256, 512 or 768 memory size.
(My config: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 3800+, 3 Gb RAM, NVidia GeForce 9800 GT, Vista).
Hope this helps.
-
I still have this problem on certain maps in QMB (Channel mostly) as well as with the USMC "Toenails" campaign from M4T.
I have the texture compression thing in conf.ini and have fiddled with pretty much all memory combinations possible.
Any ideas?

SAS~Storebror The new Minister of Computer Defence. It has to suck to be this smart 8)
Thanks Storebror.
-
try to do the same thing in [Render DirectX] if the problem persists
-
WOW, I never knew about this problem before.
Thanks all for the info.
I hope I will not run into this sort of problem myself.

Probably...or better, certainly a dumb question about this subject but anyway, why mod packs have diferent memories .exe options while the clean (unmodded) game does not?
I ask this because my modded games (whatever .exe setting) have suffering with that very well known and inconvenient message "...russian paratroopers, bla, bla, bla, etc."
But on the other hand my original game version does not seem to be plagued with this...
And yes, I have my Conf.ini edited as suggested!

Your Pc video card can not handle the textures,
so texture compression needs to be used
S3TC Compression is what needs to be set
Run,setup.exe from inside your root IL-2 folder
on video tab ,select custom
then under texture compression,select S3TC
This is offered by the default IL-2 game,
for those that need it
if you need to use texture compression,then use it

This has nothing to do with the topic on the Paratrooper error
and is an installation issue as the map has installed flawlessly for 100's of people!
have you updated your map,with the update ?

Well, sorry for posting in an old thread but this is the only that i found with the problem i have so...
I have the erro with paratroopers in QMB, changed the 2 things in render_OpenGL and in render_DirectX ut no succes... i keep getting the error... I'm using HSFX 7.03 btw
Hope that someone can help me :( Thanks by now
-
yep done the same thing myself, copied my great version (that works well!) from my windows xp home computer to my laptop which is windows 7 and in QMB and FMB I have to be real careful what i choose or i get the dreaded paratrooper error message and it locks the lap-top completely and i have to re-boot it. Ive tried the above remedy with no success.
-
Try TexLandLarge=0 and MeshDetail=2 or 1, than it works with huge maps like Philippines in HSFX 7.03. without problem.

Hello, I'm italian and I'm new at this forum. I'm using IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 4.13 with SAS Modact 6.10 and I had the same problem, I tried to edit the conf.ini, but my Texcompres was already at 2. So I tried everything that you have suggest on this thread, and I discovered that it's caused by a RAM problem on IL-2 Selector: when I set the RAM at 512 MB, it worked, but it didn't when I set the RAM at 1024 MB. So, for a long time, I didn't know who to slove this problem.
But TODAY I SOLVED IT ONCE AND FOR ALL, I'm going to show you how to do it:
1 - You have to go there https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,20703.0.html and download the pilot skins mod file;
2 - Unzip the file and put it into the MODS folder (or others, like #SAS, #UP or #DBW), so you have the mod;
3 - Copy the 3do folder in the Mesh folder and owerwrite if needed;
4 - turn the RAM setting in the IL-2 Selector to maximun.
That's it.
Bye
P.S. Sorry if you already have solved the problem.
-
Ciao Roby e benvenuto nel forum!
Sorry, but I'm skeptical about solution you're proposing about this error: it matters of a memory error and actually nothing is missing, requiring to be downloaded, you just need to free some RAM.
Cheers,
GB

I did what SAS~Storebror said to fix the problem and I am still having it. Any other solutions?
-
Did you take into account that the solution posted here is for OpenGL users?
As much as I understood, your game is in DirectX mode.
If at all, you will have to apply the settings to your DirectX render section.
This might or might not do the trick, DirectX users have to deal with certain limitations in this game.
