Title: Late Corsairs SAS Repack V2 update! [4.10] [4.11] [4.12]
Post by: Birdman on February 14, 2012, 02:32:04 PM
SAS repack of late Corsairs V2

Here is the long awaited SAS Late Corsair pack with a lot of fixes, tweaks and a new bonus plane.

Download link: https://www.mediafire.com/?uidpxkbn1gi7n7d  or   http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1339

Installing instructions: Install just like any other planes. If you're on DBW you need the DBW weapons complement in your #DBW folder. If you're on custom pack, you need the "custom install" weapons complement and DiffFM mod. FM file in currently only for v4.10.1m based versions.

Here are the air.ini entries so that you can see what is included in this pack:
F4U-4             air.F4U_4 2                                   usa01 SUMMER
F4U-4B            air.F4U_4B 2                                  usa01 SUMMER
F4U-5             air.F4U_5 2                                   usa01 SUMMER
F4U-5N            air.F4U_5N 2                                  usa01 SUMMER
AU-1              air.AU_1 2                                    usa01 SUMMER

AU-1 was not included in previous editions of this pack. She is a specialized variant for ground attack that carries a punch and has a special armor protection (as real one). You can notice bullets hitting the armor:
(http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac325/crazyflak/Late%20corsairs/2011201118-16-30.jpg)

All loadouts are rewritten to have 1 weapon fired at a time instead of pairs:
(http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac325/crazyflak/Late%20corsairs/2011201117-11-26.jpg)

Also the F4U-5N now has working "flame hiders" for its cannons :
Before:

Now:

On version 2: AU-1 exhaust pipes adjusted to fit photos and the defaults kins by Starfighter311, Red_Fox90 radar pod and tanks integrated, plus what you see below

(http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac325/crazyflak/Late%20corsairs/3107201213-29-46.jpg)
(http://i912.photobucket.com/albums/ac325/crazyflak/Late%20corsairs/3107201213-29-48.jpg)

A lot of thanks to Dreamk who first made the F4U4-5 pack and another very big credit goes to 101tfs for adding better 3d to all late corsairs (specially engines ;) ). Crazyflak was the mechanic that put together the slots, debugged classfiles and created AU-1. Then I tweaked and fixed the 3d a lot, for example, markings for all countries are now working.

All these planes now have new FMs that are just quick edits of v4.10.1m Corsair FMs. Sources had somewhat contradicting information, but the used engine types and powers are listed in the readme. Top speeds should now be roughly correct at correct altitudes and the differences in superchargers and supercharger controls are now modeled. We have used the listed empty weights and this made F4U-4 about 400 kg lighter than the overweighted stock F4U-1, so this may make these turn surprisingly well. If you have good reference material and the knowledge to improve the FMs of all Corsairs, we are happy to see your improved FMs.

Happy flying with the debugged and tweaked late Corsairs ;)

Great update thanks crazyflak.I have one question concerning the AU-1 was it left out of the start up and blue exhaust flame effect on purpose or is it awaiting an update?

Hi guy's thanks for the update. Can I, after installing V2, delete the Late F4U files from the Wheel Mod V5?
There seems to be a small problem in the cowling area; it looks like its 'closed off' by a shining disk and also the inderwing pylons are white.

O, forgotten as usual: W7, 4.101 & modact 3.06

Just delete the late Corsair files from the wheel mod and your engine textures should be OK again. There is a known material conflict in the wheel mod for late Corsairs, and to fix it a compatible version of the wheel mod is included in V2.

 :) Hi!

Thank you very much "crazyflak"  for this update,

I'll take the opportunity to put myself to 4.10.1  U.P3 rc4 ...
I'm impatiently to try all that stuff...

I hope start soon the corrections and updated my MegaPack of skins,
to make it even more beautiful ... (I not said more, surprise...) ...

See you soon ...

I have a problem in that I can't get the last two loadouts for the F4U-4 to show.

(Taken from the readme):

F4U-4.1x 154 gal Central Tank + 2 x 260 Lbs Frag Bombs + 4 x HVARAT + 4 x HVAR                  1x154gal+2x260Lbs Frag Bombs+4xHVARAT+4xHVAR5N
F4U-4.none                             Empty

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you do not mention the package you use ... it is very convenient to help you ...
And apart from that ... that gives the log?

Hope this helps and thanks for the help on this.

(edit):
Don't know why this works but I just removed the folder "C_Late corsair weapons complement for DBW" and replaced it with the one named "C_Late corsair weapons complement for CUSTOM INSTALL" and I now have all the ordnance.

Thanks for the help anyway.

I do not quite understand ... but I also see an error:
Quote
Can't open file 'PaintSchemes/Skins/F4U-4/Black Knight ZZ.bmp'

The name of the skins should not contain spaces ...

weird, DBW weapons should be enough unless I missed something. And yes, the weapons folder for custom install has more, and I did throw in everything there, so indeed it solved your problem :D

SAS~Epervier:

I missed that looking through the log - great eyesight! However, the weird part is that that's the skin for my La-7 and it's been named that since I made it about 6 years ago. How the F4U-4 came to want that skin is beyond me. Indeed, I didn't even have a skins folder yet for the F4U-4 in the PaintSchemes folder although I just went and made one.

Thanks again.

Superb pack, thank you very much. 8)

Even though I have the aircraft working in 4.11.1 with SAS Modact 4, I only have a limited amount of ordnance on the aircraft even though the weapon pack has a countless variety.  I've tried moving the weapons pack up the hierachy but still no show, the AU for instance in the QMB only has I think three options, yet the weapons list seems enourmous.

Could anyone please tell me what I may be doing wrong here please.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Coming soon, stationary for 4.11.1. ;)

Hello Bravo I know these weren't made for 4.11.1 with Modact 4 but you would think everything was in the folder that would be needed to make things show up, guess there must be something in the folder that is not compatible with our installs. :'(

The price we pay for our experimenting eh. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I am writing here because I can not post a topic in the SAS

I made this mod because I really like the propeller of F2G Gerds

So I decided to install it on LateCorsairs pack, here's the result

by propeller - Gerd's

author LateCorsairs - Birdman

Folder with a propeller installed in the Mods folder or to another folder where you have installed the fashion

and yet it is necessary so that this folder would be loaded up LateCorsairs pack

First I really appreciate your magnificent work of these Corsairs. However I am having problems when installing them into my 4.09+UP2.0 game. The game just don't load in, didn't they work in 4.09 as you mentioned above?

Here is the long awaited SAS Late Corsair pack with a lot of fixes, tweaks and a new bonus plane.

Hi,

Works good in HSFX7 (did some tweaks to have the right sounds) - can anyone confirm that the F4U-6 (AU-1) does not receive "Hayrake" nor NDB navigation systems?

I haven't tried the nav systems yet

I did a merge with the P-47D-30/40 sounds (it's not very clean, many files everywhere and looks kinda messy but it works).
I can upload it if you want :)

Hi this is my first time adding a mod plane.  I am new to this.  I have basic DBW installed.  So the way to install this is to unpack into jsgmemods folder and enable it?  Thanks for any help that you can provide.

There is the Late Corsairs folder and the weapons compliment folder, there's on for Classic Mod (HSFX) and one for DBW, make sure you use the one for DBW, and then put the entries from the read me file into the air.ini, planes.ru, weapons.ru files.  and bingo bango yer good to go.............

Thanks for the instructions.  Just one more thing.  Can you be specific on HSFX install?  Where should I put the plane folder and where should I put weapon complement folder?  Cuz HSFX doesn't have SAS\STD\ folders as described by the readme file.

Got a 70% CTD issue.  I follow the instructions in readme to letter.  I am using DBW fresh install.  DBW worked before this mod. Should I get diff_fm?
Title: Re: Late Corsairs SAS Repack V2 update!
Post by: 352nd_Hoss on December 22, 2013, 09:41:08 PM
No, you don't need a Diff mod in DBW, you do need the latest buttons for it though.  But even with the stock DBW the Corsairs should work.

pandacat - are you sure you have installed everything correctly? got all the ini entries right? do you have all necessary weapons files in place?
and finally, as Hoss has said, the latest buttons file might help as well - 10.3 that is IIRC;

Yes, I followed the instructions from readme file exactly.  Edited, air.ini, weapon.ru and plane.ru.  Where can I get the latest button file?

Finally got it to work.  It's the button file that was screwing things up.  Just a quick note to anyone comes after me.  Please use the latest buttons file from version 10 not the v10.3.

Maybe we could take the AU-1's armour and add it to planes like the Su-25?
Or we could add it to the basic fuselage of every plane to eliminate the nitro-glycerin-fuselage condition.   :)

i'm not using HSFX atm, but if you look in the HSFX section, there should be some info there that will help you.
try this thread, for example - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=37430.0
Title: Re: Late Corsairs SAS Repack V2 update!
Post by: SPEKTRE76 on June 12, 2014, 07:44:53 PM
Okay, I think I messed up. What I meant was I want to activate it using the JGSME mod activator. I just call it HSFX all the time for some reason. People keep saying you need a DiffFM for the mod but they never ever link to a place where you can download it.
Title: Re: Late Corsairs SAS Repack V2 update!
Post by: SAS~Malone on June 12, 2014, 11:31:45 PM
okay, now you've lost me.
if you called JSGME HSFX by accident, then i now know you're using JSGME in your game, but now i don't know what mod game you're running....
without that info, at the very least, i can't offer any valid advice...
as for DiffFM, it's available in the Modworx section, and although some planes don't need it, others do, so really, imo, everyone should have it 'just in case' - it won't harm your game if you have it.

Let us know how you make out once you get DiffFM going. I'll help you get the better engine sounds for them in HSFX

hello,
I just made the installation of the test pack Corsairs on HSFX Version 7.02. Although the devices are functioning normally, I do not have the beautiful sound coming from the mod JSGME "TIGER Flyby's". They seem to come from those embedded in the game "basic", ie a sound not in accordance with aircraft engines, with an unpleasant "moped" noise.
Can someone come to my help to solve this problem?

Hi Daniel

1) Copy the two following files from your ModAct installation to the root of you HSFX installation.

sas_sound_01.sfs
sas_sound_02.sfs

2) Edit the .rc file to add the following lines just after the sound entries already in it

@sfs MOUNT sas_sound_01.sfs
@sfs MOUNT sas_sound_02.sfs

4.12.2 / 5.3
Noticed the pilot of the AU-1, in the DBW version, has the KTO era white helmet but the AU-1 pilot, in the 4.12 version, has the WWII era "cloth" helmet. Does anyone know of a way to get the white helmet in the 4.12 version? (Maybe in the F4U-5 version as well.) Any help appreciated.

I have installed this package but I found the exhaust flame still existed from the old place (bottom of the hood) as it should do on a F4U-1D, as if it were overwritten by some other mods where other earlier variant of F4U were included. I found a F4U-4 folder in my 3Dfix cowling engine prop mod and deleted it, but the flame still appeared in the old position. Is there any idea about what could be the cause?

Having just flown missions w/ AU1 Corsair, I have noticed that fuel levels are not adequately modeled...i fly almost 300 km and fuel is still 100%. this was in Czech_Texans , Fr Indochina campaign. in all fairness, it was somewhat modded to accomodate HSFX 7.0.3.

Title: Re: Late Corsairs SAS Repack V2 update!
Post by: Griffon_301 on July 14, 2021, 12:22:31 PM
why 1940? because your plane.properties say so; if you want to change that, just do it as you change any other ini or properties entries;

the pink plane comes from your game that is not handling HD skins properly; as this mod comes from "another" site that uses modded dll files of their own for several of their planes, you either have to use those, live with the pink Corsairs or dont use them at all...

...which probably might be no bad idea at all as those new late Corsairs are not 100% compatible with BAT and I guess UP as well... I have them adapted for BAT and running in my modded game and have not seen any problems so far, but for inexperienced mod users, I strongly advise against using mods whose classfiles clash with the ones, already in the game...

finally, if you really need to use those Corsairs, there is a new FM available at aviaskins which is very nice but introduces a nasty snag on the F-4U4 that should not be there as this problem was solved already when the -1A was fully developed and the -1D had come online finally....

It suddenly roles to port when you are decelerating to lower gear, hook and flaps, happens at around 170mph... Outside view confirms that neither aileron, nor rudder are moved and if you are below 1000 ft (quite usual when landing on a carrier), I did not manage to prevent a crash, the autopilot can bring back the Corsair to level flight but is hard pressed to do so below 1000 ft either...it's strange as only the -4 shows this behaviour...all other late Corsairs are fine...
Your modified FM is great Vasya and can live with that problem...it only happens once btw, once the autopilot has saved my virtual me and the Corsair, you can land normally, FM lets you land great at speeds as low as 95mph... It's just this one snag which I cannot trace where it comes from...

I ran the tests again and found nothing suspicious.
On landing, I lower the propeller pitch to 50 and use the elevator trim - 20-25 divisions / clicks.
With full refueling on the glide path, the high vertical speed of the aircraft, as in real life, just as the heavy engine pulls the aircraft down.
Landing thrust 28-35 percent
The touch speed is about 150 km. at one o'clock.
The airplane trims as in the newsreel, if the speed is above 160 km. at one o'clock.
It is very difficult to model a wing patch in Ilovsky FM.
Please try!

as said, I highly rate your FM and I do not know where this wing drop comes from; It is happening on no other Corsair, just on the F4U-4 and I have tried to replicate it on the other Corsairs as well;
I know how to put them down on the Carriers, I can land any of them, the -4 is just the hardest by a margin. I might do a ntrk and post that so you can see whats happening and what I mean...
but it is really only a minor problem here...the -4 Corsair flies great otherwise and you really feel the additional horsepower it has and I also guess you made the elevator and ailerons a touch lighter as the -1A and -1D?

I added your FM now which you have posted and tried three different carrier landing scenarios with the -4 and could not replicate the problem ... I will try and use the older FM tomorrow and see if the problem creeps back up again...

now all that the late Corsair family would need to be really nearly perfect is the radar screen for the -5(N);

Vasya, thanks for the FM, it is really very well done and the late Corsairs are a joy to fly...

Uhm, not knowing the particulars, but 101tfs usually imports from Word of Warplanes or some such. That means, unless someone spends another life time of work, the mapping will be inherently different and never compatible.
That is one thing that keeps me away from many of the "improved 3d" models, particularity popular planes with hundreds of skins available, they'd be useless.

Bit of an odd question, but is there a way to delete the radar pod from the F4U-5N's wing (like a line/section of the heir file that'd need to be deleted)?

Reason I ask is because the -5N was used by Honduras, and while they clearly used -5Ns, the radar pod was quite clearly removed in most pictures I've seen of them taken from the early 60s on.

Just wondering

Open hier.him with text editor (Notepad).
Search [radar] tab.
Change to :
//[radar]
//Mesh radar
//Parent WingROut_D0
//Separable
//Attaching 0 1 0 -1 0 0 0 0 1 1.87 0.6 0.27
