INSTALLATION
Unzip and place in your mods, #SAS or #DBW folder, depending on your install.
Add these lines to your air.ini:
Ju-88G-6 air.JU_88G6 2 g01 SUMMER
It is recommended to also add these lines to your weapons_ru.properties:
#####################################################################
# Ju-88G-6
#####################################################################
Ju-88G-6.default 4xMG151 + 2xMG151 SM
Ju-88G-6.Tracers as above, w/Tracer ammo
Ju-88G-6.none Empty
And finally these lines go to your plane_ru.properties:
Ju-88G-6 Ju 88 G-6, 1944
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO SWAP RADAR AERIALS: In your ..\Ju-88G-6\3do\Plane\Ju-88G-6\ folder, delete hier.him, make a copy of ier_Morgenstern.him
and rename it to hier.him. In order to revert standard FuG 220d aerials, repeat above process with hier_FuG220.him. Note that SN-2
Morgenstern antennas were very rare.

REQUIRES DiffFM OR DBW.
Tested with DBW 1.6 and SAS Modact 3.06. Reported to be working with DBW 1.71. Not compatible with 4.09.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A NOTE ON RADAR: The radar in the cockpit is only eye candy. This plane is intended for use with the
Airborne Inercept Radar Pack for Command&Control Mod v2 - https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,26404.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,26404.0.html)
Appropriate AIRPCC/C&C object setup to simulate historical capabilities of this plane:
SN-2b (set neutral/army white)
GTW
Naxos (late option enabled)
RO (alternatively GNR)
NAV (optional, and IMHO not needed given the extraordinary nav insturments in this bird)

Happy nightflying

POSTSCRIPT SIDE-NOTE:
One thing needs to be clarified before we get entangled in discussions. There is a common misconception about Luftwaffe nightfighter variants (and especially the Ju 88G models). Namely that model designations were in any way linked to radar equipment. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! Infact, model designations stem from engines fitted and factory/tooling.
You will often read things like G-6a/b/c (or even G-7a/b/c) being versions of the Ju 88 that could be distinguished by or are tied to certain radars. NOT AT ALL TRUE!
This misconception was born in Britian shortly after the war and has been around and popular ever since - so popular that by now it has also become widespread in Germany.
Now, infact there were three groups of G-6's. G-6a and G-6b both had BMW 801 engines but came from different factories. G-6c had Jumo 213A engines.
The G-7 however is a ghost plane. It can easily be identified as it had the Ju 188 pointed wing, and Jumo 213E engines. Only a very small number (10 or so) were built, and probably did not see service. Practically speaking it was nonexistent.
Therefore, 99% of what you will find on the web concerning Ju 88G-6a/b/c and G-7(a/b/c) is CRAP!
Sorry, I had to add this. ;)

Thanks sputnikshock. This looks really nice. :)
Unfortunately, I've got problems in ModAct 3.06.
QMB: Although the plane name shows, the loadout doesn't. In the advanced setup window, the plane's replaced by the next model on the list.
FMB: Again, the plane name shows in the selector panel, but no loadout. Also mission fails to load (null).
Thanks again mate, great work. I'm sure it can be sorted. ;)

Thanks sputnikshock great plane.Just a quick question.Plane seems to bounce and flip upside down on all quick scramble missions (http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv340/Bingo1957/Untitled-1copy-2.jpg)Could this be a bug or something in my install conflicting with your plane?DBW1.71
-
Thanks for testing the damage model gumpy! ;D
Planes exploding on the runway is a FM issue IIRC. Try installing the latest buttons file.
However, I am still on 1.6 and the plane was not tested in 1.71. Could be a conflict.
Do you get the same error when taking off in a FMB mission?

Hang on let me test that. One thing I can tell you, after renaming your folder to load first it does not seem to be a conflict with any other mods but some strange gear animation on a none mission.(http://i697.photobucket.com/albums/vv340/Bingo1957/User.gif)(UPDATE) Can confirm same results in FMB missions with latest Buttons file.Don't know if this will do any good but, here is the last potion of my last log file. It's not a bug, it's a feature! Used to distract relentless Mossies...
Seriously, do you have any wheels mod installed? If so, try deactivating those.
-
Exact same result after deactivating wheel mods.
-
Thanks sputnikshock.
I'm sure it can be sorted. ;)
Backup original file and then try with this: https://www.mediafire.com/?3fdvysr3o3ke1xk (https://www.mediafire.com/?3fdvysr3o3ke1xk)
Thanks mate. Unfortunately, no change; apart from game crashing when I try to select it in QMB advance setup.

Thought I may have gotten a bad file on download so re downloaded but, still have same results can't takeoff or land but still a great mod.

Thank you so much, Sputnickshock and everyone else involved in creating this new night bird for us! It seems to work just fine in DBW 1.71. :)

@Badmuthafunker: You do have DiffFM active, right? I guess so, because otherwise the sim should CTD on loading I think. Will think about what else it could be.
@Gumpy: "can't takeoff or land but still a great mod". No, no, not being able to t/o and land is totally unacceptable.
Let's see. The child/parent rotation reference is completely &/%)$/up in your screenie. Just loaded it and lowered the gear to make sure there wasn't some last minute change that caused this, but it works fine in my sim. Probably a mod conflict somewhere. Can you try and install it in #SAS and then via selector/modact game load it in a non- or lightly modded environment and check if it still happens?

Glad to hear this! I was about to get scared that it wouldn't work in 1.71
-
Yep all is indeed well in DBW 1.7, even with wheel mods activated.
SM reticle seems to be a bit off though? seems to be a bit forward of the poi of the rounds.

Sorry I can't do that beings I'm only running DBW1.71 no modact to go with it,I will keep checking for mods conflict as I see Friedrich-Wilhelm is having no problems.
-
thanks, sputnik, great plane!
@ Gumpy, your problem definitely looks like a conflict - perhaps gear damage mod, or such?
iirc, there was a similar issue when the 88 3d model was reworked for the 4.10 patch, so possibly you have some or other Ju-88 mod conflicting?
-
SM reticle seems to be a bit off though? seems to be a bit forward of the poi of the rounds.
Since it's a fixed marker and not a fully fledged gunsight it's hard-calibrated to intersect the SM line of fire at 300m. Anything less needs a bit of a lead. I'm sorry, I should have mentioned this.
-
(UPDATE) Found the conflict,I had a rouge Ju88C6 Daywalker folder in the DBW# folder.Don't ask me how or why it got in there cause I have no idea the Daywalker comes in DBW already installed. All is well now ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks sputnikshock and sorry for the brain fart. :-[

Ah got it, 300 meters.
That explains the lead needed at 30 feet lol!
-
er the wheel fix mod should not effect this mod as its not even in it! ::) but now you have mentioned it it is now!!! :P
Holy Yeah!
-
@Gumpy:
Good. :) No worries, now go ahead and land the ship. Btw, I think she is extremely well-behaved on approach, piece of cake.
@barnesy12:
THIS IS GREAT! Thanks! And sorry for blaming your mod...
@CWMV:
Yep...I mean you want to stay away as much as you can from the nasty rear gunner and the burning debris. ;D

It's working for me perfectly with DBW1.71 (4.101) :D!
Great aircraft thanks for it!!! :)

I get a 70% crash :(

I hate to ask Phas3e but, what version you running? That sounds like the old memory wall issue of 1.6.

1.71, the newest thing I have flying is the Phantom.

Nice job Sputnik, my favorite German night-fighter at last!

Very nice sputnik, congratulations ! :)

Miammm! This is a bird very appetizing... I'll have to eat it! ;)
Thank you very much! :)

About the tracer, the Ju88G-1 captured by the british (4R+UR landed at Woodbridge) was loaded with nighr tracer, some line from the report:
The belted loading-order of these guns was: one Armour-Piercing/Incendiary, two H.E./Incendiary-
Tracer, and two Incendiary/Tracer (night-trace or "glimmer"). A Zeiss Revi 16.D gun-sight is used in
conjunction with the forward-firing armament. Externally, this gun-sight differs in two main
essentials from the Zeiss Revi C.12/D, which has hitherto been found in German fighters, these are (1)
the control for elevating the sighting screen has been modified, (2) the coloured anti-glare shield has
been removed. If further examination discloses any changes in the sighting mechanism, a full report
will be issued to the departments concerned.
The rearward firing armament consists of a single Rheinmetall-Borsig MG 131 of 13-mm. calibre in a
manually operate dorsal ring. 235 rounds were carried for this gun in a tank designed for 500, the
belted loading order being: one A.P./Tracer (night trace) and one H.E./Incendiary (night trace).
As far as I know the guns in the pack point downward 5 degree or so

@101tfs:
A few things.
1.
The fact that IL-2 modding is open and everyone can build on everyone else's work is a great benefit to the community and brought us to where we are now on SAS. I am totally in favour of an open approach.
However, with significantly changing the appearance of a mod as fresh, young and alive as this one, I wouldn't have minded a PM in the first place. Not that I would have said no or that you would technically have to ask permission or something, of course not! - but I think posting it out of the blue with a one-line comment is just bad style.
Angry mode off.
2.
Thanks for showing interest in this project and trying to help make it a better plane. This is appreciated.
You should check your msh files though, there's something weird going on with your shadow models or LODs (vertex chaos).
Concerning the nose you made, I double checked with my 3-view material again, and I think it's too pointy and the upper profile curve is rising to steeply towards the canopy frame. Sorry, no improvement there IMHO.
Now also I see that you cleaned the canopy geometry a lot. I think this is good. Might need a bit more relief still. I would like to use it as a starting point for an improved canopy for the next version if you approve.
@Oberst:
Interesting. I will make more loadouts for the next version (rather sooner than later) and will certainly include tracer ammo as an option.
I have to admit I wasn't aware of the -5deg or so alignment of the 151s. Makes sense, more clearance with the nose, and since intercepting bombers at night is preferrably done with a speed close to the target's speed, you'd be rather slow for a ship like this, therefore I assume the negative rotation would go along well with the plane's nose up attitude at this speed. Will see if it's practical to take this into account for the next version. But it doesn't make life easier modding-wise I can already tell you... ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for your research. Could you confirm the number of rounds carried per gun in the pod? The numbers I have might be off.

For the life of me I cant figure out whats wrong, I disable all mods and make sure DBW 1.71 is running fine.
I put the Ju-88G-6 folder into my #DBW, add the 3 bits of text to the 3 text files, start the game and it crashes at 60%
which I know is sposed to be an air.ini issue when searching for a mod that isnt there, but i havnt changed anything :S
-
I get a 70% crash :(
and it crashes at 60%
Wait a sec. 60 or 70%. Did it change?
Did you try reverting to your pre-G-6 inis, and then only add the air.ini entry and don't add anything to weapons and planes properties?
Also, it's a bit tricky with a C-6 and a G-6 now in the inis. Be careful with these. I learned this the hard way while testing ;D
-
What a beauty – thanks so much for creating this much wanted classic nigh-fighter. ;D
-
From the same report:
The forward-firing armament comprises four fixed Mauser MG 151 cannons of 20-mm. calibre.
These guns are mounted in a large blister, measuring 11 feet 3 inches x 12 inches deep (maximum) x
26 inches wide, on the port underside of the fuselage. The barrels of the upper guns protrude 28
inches, those of the lower pair 6 inches. The breeches are in the forward bomb-bay, and above them
are the ammunition tanks which are estimated to hold 250 rounds each.
None of the guns had been fired, and it is of particular interest that the total number of rounds was
only 545. Two tanks had 146 rounds each, the third had 145 and the fourth 108.
On the instrument panel, straight in front of the pilot, is a rounds counter suitable to six fixed guns,
the last two sections being left blank.
-
i currently dont hav time to D/L and install this, but it looks beautiful and i will fly it as soon as i can.
THANK YOU SPUTNIK!!!!

Hey There Sputnikshock,
I love Nachtjagd.
It was one of the most awaited plane for me.
I'm so happy - thank You so much for hard work!
All the best.
Also - thanks Barnesy for top-quality wheels!

Work very fine in 4.09 ! ;)
Sorry but... Is it me or the guns (nts) take a little too far left? :-X
I had this impression by pulling on a ground target!

Excellant piece of work Sputnik, Thanks! 8)
Just took it for a test spin, no problems to report for
either player or AI control.

and no conflicts that I can see.
ModAct 306 on 4101 install.
Thanks Again! ;D

I'm quite sure @101tfs have some surprise in his sleave, may be some other Ju88 variants, so his aim was help with an already done mesh ;)
Sputnickshock, what about the Jumo213 air intake? to me they look too small and too near the engine, those air intake was somethnig very special, and I like this bird for those bits ;)

i'm quite shocked concerning the paint job wips by Gumpy and Phas3e :D not only i hadn't a single moment yesterday to look at the template, but now i don't even think i can make something as good as their works hehehe!
But of course this plane (is a real marvel, sputnikshock, thanks again!) really deserves the masters' touch! :)

Yeah, I should have waited with my reply until I had cooled down a bit. ;)
Anyway, concerning the intakes, I don't think they are too small when looking at these references.

However, I'd be happy to learn from better refs if they indeed are too tiny, and will adapt them accordingly.
-
@Gumpy and Phas3e:
You guys rock!!! Absolutely stunning already!!! :) :) :)
Btw, there will be an update coming later today. Improved canopy, small change to the angle of the tail-warning antenna, added D/F loop, and maybe larger air intakes.
But no worries, UVWs will remain the same.
-
Oh man, you are my hero ;)
-
NEW VERSION 1.1 AVAILABLE!
See first post please.
For those who have 1.0 there is also a patch available.
Changes:
- After reviewing again the two canopy variants we have I came to the conclusion that it was best to start over with it.
So, new cleaned-up canopy model, along the lines of 101tfs' fix, but modelled to fit the G-6 fuselage.
- Smoother upper and lower curves on the tailfin now.
- Added D/F loop antenna.
- Fixed the angle of the tailwarning radar aerial. Proper ground clearance now.
- Many small fixes and revisions to the shadow model.
- Corrected the gun barrel protrusion in the weapons pod.
- Added tracers as a loadout option
- Defensive armament corrected to 500 rounds
Thanks to 101tfs and OberstDanjeje for pointing me towards many of these shortcomings.
-
Sorry sputnikshock, I don't want to be nasty, there's one thing left, you need to have manually enabled MW50 instead of WEP.
-
Sorry sputnikshock, I don't want to be nasty, there's one thing left, you need to have manually enabled MW50 instead of WEP.
Nasty? C'mon! Let's make this as good as it gets.
I know you have a pretty profound knowledge about german piston engines.
I initially had referenced the Jumo 213A-1 + MW50 in the fm.
However, when testflying I had instant single-engine failures whenever I activated MW50. Couldn't find the problem and
therefore, as a workaround, switched to the Jumo 213A-1 1.7ata model. Which was not perfect, but worked.
I just rechecked with the MW50 variant, and found out that the engine failure occurs when applying MW50 when the engine is already running at 110%. If I apply MW50 at 100% engine power, and then increase to 110%, it seems to work fine (However, during initial testing I also had a couple of delayed failures as well, and didn't have time to recheck on those now).
Now if this is how it's supposed to be, well - pilot error - my mistake. If it's not, I'd be happy if someone could point me at the potential source of trouble here.
Thanks.
-
You can't apply MW50 with more then 99% power.
It's historical, every other plane with MW50 have this feature.
-
Ok, very good.
Then, stand by for version 1.2, with Jumo 213A-1 MW50.
I am sorry for the rapid succession of patches and updates.
-
I know you have a pretty profound knowledge about german piston engines.
Thank you, it's nice to hear comments like that, I feel I didn't study engineering for 5 years for nothing.
You never enable MW50 at 110%, ever if after is enabled you can go up to 110% for short periods. Never move the throttle up and down when MW50 is enabled. But there is no cardinal rule, the latest failure(=engine management) models are for me impressive, they must be very close to the real thing. It seems like what exactly is going to happen depends from many parameters (engine model, height etc.). The safest way is to don't move the throttle and always check the temp. gauge.
Nasty? C'mon! Let's make this as good as it gets.
Can you add the "blip" sound when the MW50 is enabled? There is in the claymore's Fw 190 pack. It's a minor but nice effect that I like it a lot.
-
VERSION 1.2 AVAILABLE!
Also, if you have 1.0 or 1.1, there is a patch available.
See 1st post please for the downloads.
@FANATICMODDER: Thanks for clarifying. Concerning sound, have to look into this. Maybe for the next version... (oh no, not again! ;D)
-
I checked it, it's fantastic.
-
Hi Sputnikshock,
Does this mod include gear damage? When trying to land (Narvik map in QMB), after a skirmish with two Lancasters, I got an HUD message to the extent that the left landing gear was damaged. I checked in outside view and sure enough, after lowering the landing gear only the right gear was there, the left was missing. I run DBW 1.71, without any gear damage mod installed. I tried to take a screen shot, but this crashed the game.
Cheers,
FW
-
No gear damage mod included from my side.
But it is based on the Ju_88NEW class that was introduced with 4.10 (Ju 88A-17), so maybe this has different gear damage behaviour.
Need to check.
Or there is s.th. in 1.71 by default already? No idea, I'm still on 1.6

I don't think they are, in the folder I use to make my mods, when I copied the classfiles over I didn't get an overwrite such and such message, and my tools folder contains the classfiles for every mod in DBW 1.71

Coming soon:
This is simply my old Heinkel He-219 campaign that has been converted, with some small changes, so that you fly the Ju-88G6 instead. But aerial nightfighting is still as much fun as before! ;D The campaign makes full use of CY6's Command & Control mod, plus his Nightfighter map over Northwestern Europe.
I hope to post it tomorrow.
Many, many thanks for this aircraft, Sputnikschock - works like a charm for me!

Thanks a bunch Poltava!
Btw, if the hardcore nightflyers among you still can't get enough after having finished Poltava's classic, you will find generic missions here:

This will work with the generator wont it?!
:)
-
will any nightfighter?
-
And here we go: a campaign for this superb aircraft!
This is a semi-historical, 8-mission static campaign, set in the first half of 1944. You are a German Night Fighter pilot, flying the Junkers Ju 88 G-6 Nightfighter, facing ever stronger night attacks by the British RAF, including an increasing threat from enemy nightfighters and intruders. But you will also get better radar and electronic counter measures.
You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1110
(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Poltava/ju88g_1.jpg)
This campaign uses the special Night fighting map of CY6 and is of course also based on his great Command and Control MOD, which will, for the first time, make it possible to actually simulate real WW2 Night Fighter combat, with you receiving directions both from a Ground Controller and from your own on-board Radar operator. And also experience some Electronic Warfare counter measures by the enemy.
So a successful intercept depends on you following the directions. Just following the way-points on the map will not be enough.
Note that there is a Radio Beacon placed on your airfield, to help you navigate back to your base. But in order to use it you must of course activate the buttons needed for this etc.
The campaign is based on my old nightfighter campaign for the He 219 Uhu, with a number of variations.
Thanks for looking, and of course a BIG thank you to Sputnikschock for doing this aircraft!!! ;D
-

Next to the 3do folder, that is in the Ju-88-G6_1.2 root folder, where all the other alphanumeric classfiles sit. That's correct.
If it's not an ini issue, not the loadouts, you have DiffFM active, and the latest buttons installed, it's most likely a mod conflict.
Which other mods are you running?

Thanks to Poltava for the campaign and Thanks sputnikshock for this plane. When played with the Ju-88G6 the campaign kind of takes on an unearthly feeling and with all the lights turned off around the house it's actually a little unnerving. 8)

Hello Sputnikshock, hello Poltava,
I just downloaded the Ju-88G-6 campaign and played the first mission. Very exciting! Took down two Lancasters, but my radio officer got injured and was bleeding heavily. So I needed to get back to base quick. However, when I used the keys for "next beacon," and for "previous beacon," nothing happened. The radio beacons work just fine with FW-190s, and Bf-110s in my DBW 1.71 install. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a different beacon function needed for the Ju-88?
Thanks for these great mods,
FW

Hi Epervier!
do you see this beauty? :o
yes its a 2Mot but i hope you can do something for us 4.09s
Version 1 worked very well in 409.
But the version 1.2 I have problems with hoocks/tracers/MgunDump !

can someone put up the version 1 please :-X

About 60-80 other mods. Too many to list. Are there any in particular that I should be worried about?
-

Rather not.
But if v1 could be converted to 409 it should be possible with 1.2 as well.
Epervier, will PM you a few things that might be helpful.
@mandrill:
60-80 mods!!! ??? ??? ??? That's a difficult one then. You could as a start try and disable everything that has to do with Ju88s, any other nightfighter mods (or anything that uses tracerless ammo), maybe engines and torpedos (less likely to be the troublemakers though).
But I am just guessing.

Thanks Spunikshock for this plane ;)
Works for me on 4.09 thanks to Epervier
Not yet on HFSX 5.0(no weapons access in QMB:the window choice is blank;yes air, plane & weapons_ru are correctly registred)
Would it be possible to improve the shape of the tail that seems not wide enough:

Perhaps it is not possible :-[

Would it be possible to improve the shape of the tail that seems not wide enough
Improving is always possible. But maybe you could elaborate a bit what you actually think needs improvement/correction.
Would be best if you could sketch over the image indicating with a couple of lines and arrows the changes you are asking for.
Because as it is, I am not really sure what you mean with tail (vertical stabilizer, rear fuselage???) and wider (higher, longer, thicker???).
Thanks.
-
Would it be possible to improve the shape of the tail that seems not wide enough:
I've noticed this too. Basically, the tail doesn't seem long enough, and the angle between the tail and fuselage seems too narrow. On a positive note, I've been enjoying this bird quite a bit. Thanks for your work.

:(Could it be that the link to Gamefront for the 4.09 version is not working? Would like to download the magnificent plane - of course to try out the new Defender in the Dark campaign!
-
@leperemagloire:
Thanks alot. Drawing is perfect. 100% clear what you mean.
Will double check the 3d model with side-view drawings for the next update (will be a little while, as I am collecting bugs and improvements so we can go to the 'final' version in just one more update ;) ).
Btw.: On the skin bitmaps, the tailfin part has the same shape as on the standard Ju 88 skins, just UVWs where stretched/enlarged a bit for the new tail. This is to retain maximum skin compatibility.

Many thanks for this beatiful bird! By the way, are you intending to do a Morgenstern or a Berlin version?
-
Since v1.1 or 1.2 the radar meshes (incl. LODs, shadows) are in a selfcontained separate msh file. This was done for precisely the reason that now it is very easy for other modders or myself to change the radar aerials by simply adding a new msh and editing hier.him accordingly.
I have no intention to do a Berlin version (never became operational), but I am thinking about adding the SN-2 Morgenstern antenna or FuG 218 (which would need a change of the rear warning antenna as well though).
-
Thanks to sputnikshock for great plane :)
Thanks to Epervier for 4.09 ;D
Epervier can you please put the 4.09 download to mediafire :-X
since 2 weeks i have problems to come on gamefront,
i think they have changed something that my In. Explorer dont want.
Thanks!

@r4xm: Then your Mossie pilots suck.
On paper (fm data), she no match for a Mosquito NF.XIX or NF.30, unless you lure them into a turning dogfight.

Ok, I started working on version 1.3, which will hopefully be the final 1.x series update.
Please post which other corrections/additions/bugfixes you would like to see in 1.3 and I will try to include them if feasable. Release date will depend on how much will show up in thread ;) However, post what bugs you, because this will be the last update in a while.
Outlandish requests will be turned down right away (like could we have a loadout option that turns this bird into a G-7 model... ;D)

Request: Remove the bulges from the cowling undersides. The bulges were only present on Jumo 211J cowlings. If Jumo 213s were fitted, there were no bulges on the cowling undersides. See the below link.

Hi Sputnik - I haven't had time to check recently, but last time I looked at the DBW Ju 88 the small, circular, glazed apertures in the engine nacelles had reverted back to the simplified, rectangular form of the original game - when viewed from the cockpit. (I'm referring to the cluster of three engine-mounted gauges used on all Jumo powered Ju 88s which enabled the pilot to see, with a glance to each side, pitch setting, coolant pressure and temperature).
I remember back in the halcyon days of AAA ;), that Maraz(?) corrected them on his Ju 88 A4/Torp mod, so that when viewed from the cockpit the instruments could be seen nestled beneath circular apertures (which were a bit larger than scale reality for practicality's sake). Sadly, at some point between then and now, they were converted back to stock (presumably by TD or Ultrapack).
Any chance your nightfighter could incorporate this? The real gauges were illuminated at night by glowing dial surrounds, which are described in more detail on the 'cockpitinstrumente' site below (in German).
Incidentally, on the subject of cockpit lighting, Ju 88s, He 219s and Mosquitos all used ultra-violet cockpit lighting for those occasions when only a glance at a map would do. Don't know how useful that would be in-game, but it would make for a neat effect (and an eerie atmosphere ;)).
Here is the dial cluster mounted on the cockpit side of the port engine (the starboard engine needs the same treatment)
Il2 shows the square mounting panel, which should really be concealed beneath the cowling:
the actual circular window, is seen in this view:
The original instruments can be seen here (click on 'bomber' > 'motorgondel Ju88'):

@Red13:
Are you sure we are looking at Jumo 213's in both images?
I am not sure the 213's in the G-6 model did have Motorgondel Instrumentierung. I have looked at many many pictures of this airplane, and I cannot remember a single one showing these instruments. Most of the time image quality and size are not particularly hi-res, however, the window in the engine cowlings can definitely be seen on photos (of comparable quality) of older Ju 88 models. As you may have noticed, I have kicked out the engine mounted instruments altogether in the G-6 cockpit.
Now, there will be a cockpit update in version 2.0, but this will only be at some time in the future, because I need a break from this mod ;).
Should these instruments have been present in the G-6 as well, they will be included in v2.0.
P.S.: Apart from photos, I think it is reasonable to assume that the Motorgondel Instrumente where not fitted in G-6c models. First, they where complicated to manufacture. Not something you'd like to keep in late 1944. Second, the reason for them to be fitted in the first place was that a) no instrument wiring needed to be run from the engines into the cockpit, and b) space on the cockpit panel could be saved.
Now, with the BMW powered G-1, G-6a and G-6b models you would have wiring in place already. And since the nightfighter models did not need to provide space for crewmembers to crawl around under the panel, there was plenty of space to fit these instruments.

The reworking of the tails might mean I need to remake my skins, I changed the lines to match the tall tailed 88 and added a masking layer, which will cause a black setcion to appear ingame.
All good though if it means we get a more accurate model.
-
@Phas3e:
Apart from the lower leading edge corner, vertices were moved a few centimeters only. I am trying to keep the UVWs as compatible with existing mapping as possible.

This is a beautiful aircraft Sputnik.
And this is nitpicking in the extreme I know , so ignore if you want to. It may be a decision based on poly count total for all I know!
I found this photo which shows that the outboard air intake opening is not flush to the engine casing but rather extended out from it (about 20cm?) and turned , or rounded like a horn so that the opening is then parallel to the engine casing. Also , the actual orifice of the air scoop is rounded on the ends , rather than rectangular.
The current air intake opening is flush to the casing of the engine. As I said and extreme nit.
Keep up the fantastic work.

Hi Sputnik - thanks for the reply. Since reading your post I've checked it out in the best reference I have for Ju 88s (Waldemar Trojca's Ju 88 vols 1 and 2, which is something of a 'bible' for 88's) and I think you are correct in asserting that Jumo 213s didn't have motorgondel instruments. I'm happy to withdraw the request and grateful for the correction: serves me right for making lazy assumptions without checking references first.
40 years reading about this stuff, and I'm still learning... :)
-
Hi Spuntikshock,
I very much appreciate your efforts in regard to the Ju-88G-6 and especially your openness in letting the rest of us follow the progress of your work. Thus, please do not view this post as unsubstantiated criticism, but more as a curiosity question. It seems to me that currently, the Ju-88 models in Il-2 have rather reduced visibility to the rear. The pilot's view over-the-shoulder is blocked by something brown (the backrest of the pilot's seat?) and by those drawn train-compartment-like curtains. However, when looking at photographs and other images of Ju-88 cockpits/canopies, I am under the impression that the pilot should have much more visibility towards the rear. Is this impression wrong? If not, would it be possible to change the visibility in the cockpit?
Pardon my ignorance, as I ask this without having any practical understanding of the amount of work needed for such a change. So, if this is not feasible, please disregard.
Thanks,
FW

Well done all!

This concludes the 3d work for version 1.3 I think.
Now all that is missing is classfile work for those who experienced problems with loadouts/weapons and gear trouble (Ju 88 C-6 conflicts).
The funny thing is, that while there were numerous requests for 3d improvements on the external model, noone noticed that the radio compass was off by 90deg, the beacon needle pointing 180° to the wrong direction, and nightlighting on the turnbank indicators such that the yaw balls were invisible in dark nights. ;D ;D ;D Which leaves me wondeirng, do you guys actually fly this bird at night or are you just staring at it? :P
-
I want it, superb ;)
-
Thanks for such a well researched and constructed aircraft. 8)
Just wondered, really just out of curiosity , the radio antenna mast on top of the cockpit.... On the G models was it actually where you've got it ??? As said, its really just by way of my own lack of knowledge about 88 nightfighters. :-[
Keep up the brill work ! And yes, I do fly your kite around during the day, cos she's so pretty :-) Thanks !!
-
On the G models, it was actually nowhere near I got it! :o ;D
It was non-existant. Will kick it out and adjust wire antenna.
-
Love the Morgenstern radar mate, great work again. Its getting hard to keep up with you, your work rate can only be admired :).

Hi Sputnik,
I did notice the misalignment of the radio compass and the beacon needle. But because I had never used them in Ju-88 before, flying mostly FW-190s and Bf-110s, I put that down to my ignorance in regard to their proper use and thought that I need to read the 4.10 manual on radio navigation for the Ju-88 once more. ;)
Cheers, and thanks for all your hard work on this plane!

Development update
Vertical stabilizer geometry correction
After rechecking with 3-view plans, I realised that indeed its shape was a bit off. Leading edge lower corner needed to come forward, overall height needed to be reduced a little bit, and trailing edge of the rudder needed to move further back. Status: Done.
Thanks to leperemagloire for pointing me to this problem
Engine flame and exhaust
Hooks moved to the rear end of the the flamekillers. Status: Done
Thanks to OberstDanjeje for solving this.
Weapons classfiles
Will be made independent from base install and provided with the d/l. Probably in deactivated state, to be enabled by users experiencing loadout errors. Status: Planned
Base class
Aircraft will be made idependent from existing stock Ju 88 parent class, in order to avoid potential conflicts with C-6 pack installs. This will be optional. Status: Planned
Radar aerial
Optional Morgenstern antenna (uncovered). Status: Done

This is a live dev update/status report/to do list. It is for me to keep track of things, but I'll let you peep through the keyhole. There are a lot of mods with a lot of secrecy around them - for good reasons - however I will try something new here and adopt an open information policy. If this leads to
people becoming pushy, or demanding - in the sense that some posters act as if they had a right to require changes to a mod, as has happened many times with other mods - I will take this off and drop the veil of secrecy. Hope you understand.
Nevertheless I have good faith in the followers of this thread and I believe this can proceed to the benefit of everyone involved.
-
There is no blip sound foe the MW50 in the Fw190 but a clik like turning on a switch
-
Whatever it is, Fw190 MW50 sound will not be included in this version.

VERSION 1.3 AVAILABLE! See first post please.
This time, no patch. You have to download the whole thing. Sorry, too many changes.
Please completely delete previous version before installing!
This includes all the fixes and changes discussed in the thread. However, classfiles have not been made independent yet.
There will be a separate "troubleshooter" package with independent classfiles available soon. This is intended for people who
experience loadout problems and/or mod conflicts with earlier Ju 88 mods.
Please understand that v1.3 is the final version for now. Therefore, unless there are immedeate bugs that I missed in testing, no changes/additions will be made. If you find inaccuracies or have more requests concerning this bird, feel free to post them here, and I will try to consider them for a future version. This is not going to happen sputnikspeed though. I am burned out from this mod. ;)
Thanks to everyone for your support, encouragement, criticism, enthusiasm and kind words. Thank you!

Amazing stuff m8t ! Thanks 8)

Absolutely great plane.Thank you so much sputnikshock. :) :) :) :)

Thank you - this is great work - and a great approach to publish mod, actually.
This, together with the other night fighter and night fighting mods, certainly bring these seldom (if at all) simulated air battles to life in IL-2.
Thanks again.

Cheers for the update, i will be adjusting my skins to suit over the weekend and uploaded to the new A&A site ;)

Thanks Phas3e, and sorry for the UVW change.

;D
I did notice that the turnbank indicators were dark but not the rest. I cheat with the Hud and don't use compass, and I'm a lousy navigator. But this bird will probably kick me into learning how to properly use navigation tools.
Thanks again, this mod was delivered with sputnikspeed !

Please understand that v1.3 is the final version for now.
Even if it is the final version for ever, no reasonable person will complain.
Thanks to everyone for your support, encouragement, criticism, enthusiasm and kind words. Thank you!
We should thank you for this fantastic addition to our virtuall flying experiences! I should thank you personally for taking seriously my request for the 'blip' (or 'click) sound for the MW50.

Some ideas:
- Why not adding the Morgenstern radar as a seperate choice? You 've done already all the work.
- Why not adding the new pilots from the "better pilots" mod? They 're done already for the Ju 88As, you don't have to work in anything.
A question:
Is the gunsight right? It's the one used (I cannot remember exactly the type designation) in day fighters between 1941-43, not the later one from late 1943 (and until the end of the war). Attention: I am not saying that it is a mistake, I have no idea, I am just asking.
-

I don't get it. It is included as an option. Since it was a very rare piece of equipment, it's really only included as a historical footnote, as an optional configuration for the radar geeks. And as such, the inconvenience of having to rename files to activate it is perfectly fine from my perspective.

I have no clue. Hard to find G-6 cockpit photos. I just kept what was there from the C-6 out of pragmatism.
-
I made a mistake in v1.3.
By fixing the gunsight, I unintentionally misaligned the SM reticle. A micro-patch to v1.31 will fix this in the coming days. Until then, you have to aim off-target. Sorry.
-

Man, as I told you, if you leave it the way it is, is perfect. I should thank you again for all the work you've done for us.

My god this is a fantastic piece of work, thanks for all your hard work, Works wonderful in HSFX, but somehow ive got to create a skin folder, normal way of just naming a folder and adding it wont work, but this is a wonderful beast to fly...Thanks again
-
Hi Sputnik. I'm still getting a 60% or 70% CTD w the 1.3 version. (I was hoping that my problems would just go away).
The original 1.0 version works perfectly though.
Could you tell me what might be likely to cause the crash in the more recent versions?
Appreciate the help. Again I am flying Modact 3.06 w 4.101.

Hello, sputnikshock,
Thank you very much for this great mod, :)
I just want to help to make even better that it all ready is.
I´m a fan of WWII aviation, and I have a doubt related with stabilizers of this mod,
the are the standard for most JU-88´s, but the G´s series and longer, bigger stabilizers.
When it read information about the JU-88 G Night-Fighter series, among the many changes, it had a "New" Tail and stabilizers,
it seems that actually were just the same as JU-188 Tail and stabilizers.
I have a very interesting book, about the technical development of the Ju-88, its KAgero Ju 88 Vol.III, I have a scanning image
of technical drawing, the difference between the earlier type of stabilizers and the specific for the G series.
I would like to show it, but I don't know, how to post it here, to make my doubt clear.
-
@ace:
I know... However, I always thought that the stock IL-2 Ju 88 horizontal stabilizers were to long. Since the G model's 188 tail had a longer span, but only by ~20cm on each side, I decided to stick with stock geometry - under the assumption that two faults would now even out.
I was wrong though. Your comment led me to recheck with plan drawings, and the stock elevators are infact spot on. For an A model.
Therefore, to cut a long story short...
-
...Patch 1.31 is cancelled. Since the stabilizer issue came up, I decided it would be better instead to go for one final push, and here she is:
VERSION 1.4, FINAL RELEASE
Changes:
-Schräge Musik reticle misalignment fixed
-External LOD0 missing cockpit seats added
-Horizontal stabilizer remodelled
See first post please for download. Patch from 1.3 to 1.4 is available as well.

This mod has taken alot of energy, and all my spare time. New RL projects are kicking off for me, and I can't support this with the same level of commitment anymore. Therefore, v1.4 is the final release until at least June. No worries, I will be around, even do a bit of smallscale work on my other mods if time permits, but this one has to hibernate for a while. It's too demanding.
Which is also good for you, because now you can stop finding inaccuracies and spend the time flying (or making) missions with this baby. ;D
Again thanks to all involved, and to everyone who has helped - by contribution or criticism - to improve this mod to where it is now.
-
Congratz for final release, you made an awesome job there :)
-
Thanks, any way there is a little bug, on the tail the haken (I mean the game's marking non the haken on the skins) is distorted
-
- Why not adding the Morgenstern radar as a seperate choice? You 've done already all the work.
I don't get it. It is included as an option.
How to ACTIVATE Morgenstern radar antennas?
Thanks.
-
@Oberst: Sh*t, sorry. I have Haken disabled by default, and forgot to recheck after tailmod. Guess you just have to live with the distortion for a few month now.
@zack: That's easy. Go back to the first post and read it. ;)
-
Again: THANKS! You have done more in shorter time than anyone thought possible. Take a well-deserved break. Time to really FLY this beauty!!!
-
I'm having issues with swastika distortion in version 1.4 on the right side of the tail. I'm using DBW 1.6. Anyone else seeing this? I'd post a screenshot, but my computer refuses to take one at the moment.
-
@BaronFel181: see post #173 and #175 please.
-
Oh man, I feel silly... Sorry for not reading before posting. Thanks for the quick reply!
-
No worries, I feel the same. ::) ;)
-
Thanks Sputnikshock!!
I love these night birds
-
No problem for the haken.
I have uploded JSGME folder to active the Morgenstern, it's for V1.4, only for DBW, just put in jour jsgmemods folder

Thanky you very much Sputnik for version 1.4 of the plane. The plane is getting better and better! 8)
The only thing I have found it is the old antenna mast when looking up from the cockpit... ::)

You really deserve your grade : 4.09 Guardian Angel ;)
-
Cheers for the final, though now with the correct tail the swastika is warped when to skinning it.
Its going to take more time to get it looking correct so my updated skins will take a bit longer.
-
Don't know if you are aware of this. There are actually two tailfins in the geometry. One that you see in game (=the one you skin). This has correct UVWs. Then, there is a clone of it which is invisible in game, but contains the UVWs for generic markings.
It is only this second instance of the tail that has distortion. So whatever you do with your skins will only apply to the first tail surface = UVWs should be fine. Generic markings will be distorted no matter what you do, and the only way to change this would be to go into the mesh and change the UVWs of these invisible overlay polygons.

Hey sputnikshock!
I fixed a problem with the skin of landing gear, but I have a little problem to find this part:

Hi, installed in my sas mod 4.10 and it shws in selection screen but only under german skin. then when click to fly it says data file corrupted. any ideas?
-
I assume you are on 4.10, not 4.101 right?
From here (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18751 (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=18751)):
4.101 FIXES:
[...]
3. "Data corrupt" error message appearing from some QMB missions.
[...]
15. Ju-88 with empty loadout causes exception.
So, first redownload and reinstall the Ju-88G-6. Maybe you had a bad download with files going corrupt. Then if it still doesn't work and you are indeed running 4.10, upgrade to 4.101. If that doesn't do the trick, I have no clue.
-
hi, yep 4.10 is what i am toying with. i try to reinstall.
-
tested some more. they dont work in either 4.10 and 4.10.1. The 4.10.1 says mission loading error:null. Am i missing something? shd there be a german weps pack too as the loadout section is blank.
-
OK, go back to post #81 and download the two files from there. Move them in the same folder as your other Ju-88G-6 classfiles.
You should then get proper loadouts. If mission loading error:null persists, try selecting a loadout other than default, leave the loadout screen/menu, go back to the loadouts and reselect default. That should solve the null error.
-
hi, it worked in 4.10.1. now how about the skin folder name? how is it named?
-
Glad to hear she's flying.
Skin folder name:
Ju-88G-6
-
thx

Hi all
I have install this mod for 4.09,but in QMB I see:
"INTERNAL ERROR: Effect param file `effects/smokes/Gun.eff` NOT loaded.
Version 4.09.
-
INTERNAL ERROR: Effect param file `effects/smokes/Gun.eff` NOT loaded.
This error is not specific to the Ju-88 409!
You must have the same error with all aircraft MG151/20 using.

Update on my problem w updates on this a/c after version 1.0.
I tried renaming 1.4 to have the same name as the original 1.0 folder and voila! - the mod suddenly worked again.
Thanks for the amazing plane!
-
@mandrill: Strange...I renamed my Ju-88G-6 folder over and over again durnig dev and never had any problems. Whatever, it's working for you now which is all that matters.
-
once again thank you for this much-needed nightfighter!
-
Hi!
I have just installed (in my 409) this great bomber killer and I'm really happy to see it in our SIM althought I'm not a night fighter!!
I have got the effect issue but as I have instaled the fix provided by our great fellow Epervier I have solved it!
Anyway I got a gear issue with this bird!
Like you can see in this screnshoot:
(http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/3ub71.jpg) (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/3ub71)
the gear when extended assume a strange position that make landing impossible and moreover cause the plane to flip over at take off....not yet tested the stationary plane but I bet that since it use the same 3do dynamic it should act badly too.
Any other have the issue or can suggest a solution?
Thanks in advance!!
walter
-
@walter: gumpy had the same issue (in DBW 1.71 though). See post #23 and before for what happened with in his install and how he solved it. Malone in post #21 hints at the potential source of trouble for those using 409.
-
Yes I forgot those post as it was refered at a 410 installation....definitively the JU-88 C-6 give some issue with landing gear also in 409....
Hope to see it sorted even in a far future....
Thanks for your help and for this great mod!

:( Magnificent plane, but after installing the 4.09 version I seem to have a problem with the sound of the right engine. Not that it is completely gone, but let's say there is 80 procent less engine noise than on the left side. Fearing it could be a game problem or even hardware failure, I tested all other planes and everything works fine for them. What can be done to solve this?
Greetings,
Jenato

Dear all,
my squad is about to shift to HSFX 6.
I've tried to install this wonderful plane using 4.11 DiffM, but as I feared, the result was a CTD @ 60%.
Typical of a FM issue.
As this bird as been released w/ a 4.10 FM, could one of you FM wizards take a look and maybe adapt the FM so we can use it w/ HSFX?
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers, and congrats again!

Hey.
btw, is this Compatible with UP? i added this to my UP Mods folder, of which there are only 3 mods in so far, and i have Diffm installed, and its crashes at 60%.
hope you can help

There are two versions UP.
You are asked to be specific if you want help.
UP2.01 or UP3 ?
You have other aircraft that use diffFM?
bomberkiller is right: air.ini is correct?

This is not an absolute truth.
In rare cases, it may be useful to have the update buttons.
This is the case wherein there is no EMD in the external FM.

Hey,
i have no other Aircraft Mod's added. the only MOD's i have are Plutonium Universal effects :\

i removed the Ju-g6 and tried adding a few other Mod planes. and everyone crashed at 70%, so im assuming i have something missing!

Hi there! I just installed this mod, and my mouse freezes on the main menu. I downloaded the V1.4 version, and I'm running SAS on 4.11.1. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks a lot everyone!

Hey Bravo! Do I need to get HSFX or diffFM or DBW or am I just good with my installation of SAS? As usual you're a savior!!
-
It should work in your SAS ModAct 4.0, and I would suggest HSFX 6.17, It is an Awesome Mod Pack..
-
I might get that! What version should I install for my 4.11.1?
-
Start at 6.0, then go up to 6.17
-
Hello, I play with DBW 1.71 and the Full Monty, and I have the same problem than Gumpy and Walter Solito with the landing gears.
Can someone explain me how to fix it ? In advance thank you. :)
And thanks to sputnikshock, this mod is amazing. Maybe my favorit mod plane.
PS : My apologizes for my bad english. :-[
-
Hello Maurice Morrison,
Do you incidentally have GearDamageFX V 1.3 in your #DBW folder? I had it and by removing it, everything was solved. I can be mistaken, but this Mod can be used very well in 4.09 not in 4.101 DBW. So, may be this can be of any help?
Greetings,
Jenato
-
Yeah ! Thanks Jenato, you solved my problem. :)
-
Initial test confirms that only the 4.09 + effects fix works with 4.12 and SAS 5.11 (No UP, DBW, HSFX installed. Just manual install over 4.12 and SAS 5.11)
Very nice aircraft! Thank you! Great to see a template supplied as well. I wish that was standard with all new model releases...
-
Hi Sputnikshock, thanks for the awesome mod! Just having a small issue. Its saying "Cannot load gear.mat" when I try to use the plane. Any ideas?
-
The 4.09 version with the 'effect fix' works ok im my 4.12.2 & 5.3 modact version :) :), so perhaps a 4.12 icon is justified?
-
Hello everyone,
as you might have noticed, I am only checking in to SAS every now and then (like...maybe 1x per month...or less), due to a demanding RL workload. Anyway, wanted to assure you that (sooner or later) I do read the comments and should some bigger issues with the plane arise, it won't go unnoticed (and unfixed hopefully). Moreover, just wanted to say thanks to all the G-6 pilots out there for still using my mod.
When after such a long time positive replies show up in the thread, that truly makes the effort and time that went into it worthwhile. So, yeah, thank you!
:)
cheers

Sputnikshock
Thank you again for the mod. Here's hoping that we'll see more of your night fighting innovations again some day.

I have this same configuration, and tried to install this version , choosing the plane from QMB and trying to fly it I just have a CTD is anyone able to help?
-
Ok folks, tricky this one. I had this beast running fine in HSFX 6, but now im running 4.12.2 HSFX 7.01 and have the all singing and dancing HSFX buttons files to allow the add-on aircraft. So i installed the v1.4 version of the G-6 together with the effects file and all seemed great. The game loads without crashing, the aircraft and weps are all there in QMB, I select a bog standard map for testing (Normandy) and press load...this is when things go wrong..At 30% I get this
"The instruction at OX23101147 referenced memory at OX248d2f8c. The memory could not be read. click to terminate".....Then the game crashes...and the event-log only says this
[27.03.2014 19:13:46] Mission: Records/Intro 04 Ed.trk is Playing
06:00:00 Mission BEGIN
06:00:42 Mission END
[27.03.2014 19:18:51] Mission: Records/Intro 04 Ed.trk is Playing
06:00:00 Mission BEGIN
06:00:42 Mission END
Now i had this happen to me many moons ago, and i cant remember what the problem was, if anyone could help id be most grateful.
-
i have issues with this, in both of my 412 installs, Modact530 and TFM412
there is an older version of the G-6, with Atlanticzerstorer loadout, torpedo and others, but no radar.
then, there is this 'new' version which has the 412 stamp of approval.
the older version worked fine, all loadouts correct, no problem. it just had older 3d.
then this version, without those other loadouts, but SM instead, simply doesn't work in my 4122 games.
it only has default or none loadouts, none of the SM options.
it also has that old problem with the SM firing simultaneously with the forward guns, and it would be lovely to see this, my favorite Ju88 variant, working correctly in 412 :D
-
pretty sure i've stuffed something up here with the different versions.
gonna start from scratch, and get back - there are some other little issues i'd like to resolve :D
-
as i suspected, i got some stuff mixed up with the other G-6 Stechmucke mod.
sorry for the ruckus, lol
all is working well in 412 Modact 530 now :D
-
on to some more minor stuff - there doesn't appear to be any engine start smoke - is this meant to be? or some missing hooks?
also, there's some very irritating blockage of the reticle, when you look dead centre down it, it disappears. move lightly left or right off the reticle, and it appears again.
it's a minor thing, but it just happens to disappear right on the sweet spot for aiming, and this is a real pita. surely some small hier edit or something could fix this?
anyone else actually experience this, or is it my issue alone?
i'll post a pic soon, to illustrate ;)
-
I've noticed a few problems with this mesh, it could mean that the collision mesh is broken in the game.
Several of the binary meshes are missing a data block. If you open WingRIn_D0.msh in a text editor you can see the block names.
In the middle of that there is the sequence ...
[LOD3_ShFaces] [CoCommon_b0] [CoCommon_b0p0]
There should be a [CoCommon] block in there. With it missing I think the game will just stop loading the mesh, it will still display correctly and fly correctly, but parts of the mesh won't exist in the collision mesh.
The quickest way to fix this is to use MshConverter and save it as text. MshConverter (and my app actually) will create the missing block for you.
I think the machine gun hooks are in the wrong place as well.
Other than that, looks excellent.
(http://s30.postimg.cc/9uavwhj0h/screenshot.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
-
yeah, it sure does.
i want to look at another slot so that we can have both versions of the G-6 which were made, this one and the Atlantikzerstorer one :D
-
Wonder if someone could help me please?
There was an addition to this mod made which allowed the different radar arrays to be selected as a loadout option rather than changing the folders around, can anyone remember where it was? Or post a link please?
cheers
slipper
-
never heard of it - i have loadouts that indicate the different radars, but no 3d changes...
also interested to hear more about that...
-
only this ....
"HOW TO SWAP RADAR AERIALS: In your ..\Ju-88G-6\3do\Plane\Ju-88G-6\ folder, delete hier.him, make a copy of ier_Morgenstern.him
and rename it to hier.him. In order to revert standard FuG 220d aerials, repeat above process with hier_FuG220.him. Note that SN-2 Morgenstern antennas were very rare."
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=3623.7476
As per SAS-Malone's screenshot
-
I have 4.09 version installed in 4.12.2, both aerial selectables and working.
-
by selectable, do you mean through the loadout choices, and not via changing him files?
if so, why does mine (also 409 version in 4.12.2) not do this? i can only change it through the him file....
-
Yes that is what i mean. There was a fix posted that gave you the option in the weapons loadout screen of having the 2 different radars arrays with the two different loadouts (tracer and no tracer).
So there were four loadouts, forgive my terminology doing it from memory, - no tracer and FuG 220, tracer and FuG220, no tracer and Morgenstern, tracer and Morgenstern.
There was therefore no need to change folders.
Does anyone have this please?
-
i do have the version with only those four loadouts you mention, but it seems it doesn't have the 3d incorporated into the loadouts, as you mention.
so, yes, also keen to know about this option... :D
-
When you go to the selecction screen, nothing happens , but when you start playing, the chages are there
-
Singue
They do not show for me mate, they are on the loadout screen as choices but in game only the FuG 220 shows, where it should, the Morgenstern doesn't show at all. Any chance you could upload your version?
-
When you go to the selecction screen, nothing happens , but when you start playing, the chages are there
I agree, doesn't show in selection screen but different arrays show up in-game.
My problem with Ju-88 G6 was never getting it to work.......the problem I had with it was when it was installed it made the game CTD at 100% loading when you selected the Ju-88 A4
-
I don´t know how to do it, but the link is this, in first page:

Ah, cheers singue, its just the 4.09 version you have installed.
Yes i tried this in 4.101 and it works fine, cheers mate

I have just noticed something strange with this plane. It works fine in QMB, but if i try and fly it in the FMB i get a weird result.
The plane is completely pink and starts with its wheels down, nose over on the ground stationary. I think i have heard of this problem before, but cannot think what causes it any ideas please?
Can any one confirm they get the same thing? this happens with both the 4.09 and 4.10 latest (v1.4) versions.
Any help appreciated

pink plane=mostly smoething wrong with your hd mod, try re-install your hd mod.
-
it's not necessarily related to the HD mod - in this case i doubt it very much.
pink planes on spawn was happening long before HD mod was in existence.
usually, something is missing from the plane - weapons/3d, or such -
error log will indicate the problem, so that should be your first port of call.
post it up for us to look at.
-
Will do thanks Malone, funny how it works ok in QMB though you would expect if a file is missing it would affect the plane loading everytime. I'll post my error log later
-
quick update, i selected a different map and it works fine, the map it doesn't work on is CY6's Rhur map. How can a map affect if a plane loads or not?
-
slipper, when you mentioned that it's okay in QMB, that got me to thinking - what is likely happening here, is that you are trying to run older missions, that are making use of loadouts that have since changed, and this can cause that pink spawn that you're experiencing.
it's not necessarily your 'pilot' plane, but any of the AI planes in the mission, too, that have a loadout that has changed since the mission was first built.
if you have a mission with this problem, load it up in FMB and go through the AC loadouts, select a loadout from the existing list, save, and try the mission again.
it might also help to delete the 'lastmission.mis' file inside Single Missions folder, as this sometimes retains the incorrect loadout information. :D
-
Thanks Malone for your help i will give it a try, have not had anytime the last few days to look at it again. What you say about the loadouts could be true as i have been messing about with the java trying to get the AI to use the SM installation, if i get it sorted i will release a fix.
cheers
mate

I have a new SAS TFM 4.12 install that works great, but somehow I've run into problems installing this beautiful 88. The plane folder is in SAS folder& all the files are also properly placed. In game play the plane does show up in QMB and elsewhere but when mission is started the plane that shows up is whatever plane was last played before I changed it to the JU-88G.Strange huh? I have never had this occur in all the years of my blundering through modded Il-2.Even the ( non 4.12)Ju-88C models added to the SAS folder after attemping the "G" worked fine.Any ideas? :-\
-
Hello, Dietz, same happened to me, reinstalled latest version and OK. Perhaps a wrong file.
-
Just tried your solution but without success:I deleted the old SAS Ju-88G install, but left the files in place in STD,then I dropped new Ju-88G flder into SAS folder, held my breath & started sim...with disappointing same results.I would think removing file entries & then reinstalling shouldn't make any difference?
-
Same problem mr Dietz my ju88g6 look like zlin50 :) ..... i see it on the list but nothing else .....

If I disable 3do with keystroke I get crosshairs.

I have assigned "Toggle gunsight" in "Controls" with keystroke "Z". Of course you may have a different keystroke command, but this seems to disable 6DO & brings the crosshairs to sight.

Toggle Gunsight didnt do much in this case ... And I dont know how to disable 3DO an bring the crosshir to sight .... :-[

Hi all. Tried in HSFX 7 (latest) and can't get it to go. I searched and see some got it working on earlier versions but not 7? I have difffm and other planes installed. It doesn't crash, but and I can select it in QMB, but the plan doesn't show in the arming config and errors on mission load. Thoughts?
Thanks.
-
Confirm working in my 4.12.2 with latest modact. Used link for 409 and effects fix.
-
Again with problem both crosshairs ,,regular/schrage musik,, is not precise looking forward not seeing my Revi looking upward need to aim much behind the crosshair to hit ,,enemy,, with schrage .... its not a HUGE problem but I wondering did sombody had the same problem and maybe have some solution to fix it ... cheers .... toggle gunsight not help its only get worse in both problems ....
-
In HSFX7 does not work. The regular version, the plane does not appear in the simple editor, and it cannot be selected accordingly. Version 4.09 rises normally. However! When you try to start a mission in a simple editor, the game hangs at 100% load people. Don't crash, but it freezes well.

When you go to the selecction screen, nothing happens , but when you start playing, the chages are there
I agree, doesn't show in selection screen but different arrays show up in-game.
My problem with Ju-88 G6 was never getting it to work.......the problem I had with it was when it was installed it made the game CTD at 100% loading when you selected the Ju-88 A4
Hello everyone, I have the same kind of "fightingirish" problem.
I play 4.12 modact 5.3 and I downloaded version 1.4 (first post),the Ju88 G-6 appears in QMB screen but doesn't function and it has no loadout.
I made a proof deleting the 1.4 version and installing the www.mediafire.com/?ypgg5hvi8zqs81p for 4.09 version (always in first post) but in this case the Ju88 G-6 seems OK in QMB and I can fly with it but when I go back and select Ju88 A-4 (the old stock version) I have CDT at 100% loading.
Can some of you help me?
Thank you.

Has anyone tried the the Ju 88G-6 night fighter with the CUP WAW mod? Does the radar mod work with CUP WAW?
Thanks,

The campaign I've built for this aircraft, called "Defender in the Dark", has now been updated to version 3.0. It's a big overhaul, for instance by adding the important Realistic Airfield Lights Mod by Sputnikshock, making the weather random and adding a Lorenz Blind Approach System to your airfield. I've also added one new mission.
You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1110
I've updated the campaign using my simple "Nachtjagd Mod Pack", which contains all the Mods you need for realistic WW2 night fighting, including the Ju 88 G-6, the C& C Mod and the Realistic Airfield Lights Mod. (Plus some other goodies.) The pack is easily installed via JSGME, on top of a vanilla DBW 1.71 install. I'm sorry but it wo'nt work on 4.12 installs :-\
You can find the Nachtjagd Mod Pack here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2143
Thanks for looking :)

Having the same problem with the stock A-4 and the CDT issue. Was anyone else having this problem? I've got a lot of missions and campaigns around the Ju-88A-4.

Ok, hope this works, so here goes: Mod Activator 5.30; Ultra pack selector 3.1.1; 4.12.2m. Also, when I remove the G-6 the A-4 can once again be flown. Hope you guys might tell me where I'm going wrong and thanks.

ULTIMATE BABY!! :D :D :D with the patch from the last post (aviaskins link) works perfectly in 4.12.2 modact 5.3
Night time fun begins ;)

Added radar screen for this one as well. It comes third after pilot and rear gunner
This is based on OG mod + Vasya's fixes, full package for 4.12:

But... the radar equipment was present in the cockpit already ]dontknow[
"A NOTE ON RADAR: The radar in the cockpit is only eye candy. This plane is intended for use with the
Airborne Inercept Radar Pack for Command&Control Mod v2 -"
I added working radar screen as a separate view position.
A more elegant solution will be to create a proper radar operator seat and fit working radar to screens present in cockpit (like in Bf-110 nightfighter), but this is well beyond my ability
-
Oh I see.
Blame it on myself being an Ultrapack fanboy.
We've got full featured radar sets in all those planes for years.
]cheers[
