Hi all!
I am a Japanese. I cannot speak English. I am sorry.
3D of Bf109 was improved.
This is Beta. No CAP. and Default LOD.
Include G6Late, G6Early, G2, F4, F2 and Secret addition
Next Generation 3D was challenged!!
Many corrections.
The body was made thin. It moved back in the cockpit.
All fillets are new. new Muzzle of a MG131

I think that's what JapanCat was taking about,with his mod you get the thicker transparent spinner in the side view,with Jeronimo's just the flat spinner animation.

Is this new 109 G 3D model spec out to original BF-109G WW2 proportions and the Bf-109G 3D in my UP3 4.10.1 is incorrect?
or is this a 3D model that the maker believes just looks aesthetically better than the one in the game?

New model has corrected overall shape and improved detail, so yes it is more accurate.

Even a better overview in the "DBW mods folder" I set in front of each mod what to do with aircrafts has a "air_".

Btw, I run 4.10.1/ DBW 1.71 with many mods! My main-gamefolder-size: ca: 60 GB (incl. 20 GB PaintSchemes)!!!

Wow. I hadn't checked this out yet, but it's great to see that the fuselage is finally proper where it meets the wing root. That's been a major PITA for so long! Thanks, JapanCat!! 8)
Now, if only all the 109s could look this good... I guess I'll have to wait until the next ultimate 109 pack. Oh well... :-\

...I am also running a 4.09m version and didn't have any trouble, I just copied and pasted JapanCat's 3D rework inside Anto's relevant G6 Late folder and that of course overwrote the previous files, and that did it ... ;)

I cannot find Anto's mod, but I have installed it ::) In my MOD folder i have 3 mods called "00_BF109_Default_slots" , is that it , it has a folder with the right name in it :(

... yep, I am not in front of my game computer currently, but you should find the G6 Late folder in your 00_BF109_Default_slots folder, that's where you need to copy, paste and replace with JapanCat's files ... ;)

The weapon position markers (hooks) in this mod are currently old ones for v4.09m. Thus, they are not compatible with v4.10.1m version (smaller bombs misplaced on rack) and current Bf 109 mods in Ultimate pack, UP3, DBW and HSFX (W.Gr.21 not appearing and some other broken loadouts due to missing hooks). I have sent a fix to JapanCat even before this problem was first reported, so I hope an updated version is released soon. Thus, those bugs are fixed in my IL-2 and JapanCat has the fix.

Thanks JapanCat, I only have a problem: I have replaced the files originaly in BF109 Default slots with your files - this worked great with the previous version - and none of the new planes can be selected in the 'Arms screen' When I press fly and than Shift / Tab I'll see: Can't open file 3DO/plane/Bf-109F-2/FilterGril.mat. And its this file thats missing(?) with every plane.

Thank You for all this great 3D modeling work!
I noticed the compatibility issues with DBW and Bf 109 Ultimate Pack, and decided to fix them. It became a lot more compticated than I thought, but I think I got it all fixed and attached the files for you.
Thus, if you want to test and enjoy these JapanCat's great 3D models of v2012.12.24 on DBW or on Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1, then just first install JapanCat's v2012.12.24 mod and then my attached compatibility pack on top of it overwriting the files. I haven't tested HSFX or v4.09m versions of Bf-109 Ultimate Pack yet, but you can always try. Original JapanCat's version is better at least for users of v4.11m modact without other Bf 109 update packs.
My attached pack has these changes:
- The missing FilterGril.mat and FilterGril.tga is included so that the new v4.11m sand filter loads wihtout other v4.11m files and is used instead of the old frankenfilter.
- Hier.him naming is changed so that sand filter animation still works with DBW and Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1 classfiles. This part is not compatible with v4.11.1m classfiles.
- I moved sand filter a bit so that it fits the air intake better.
- The sand filter is added to all planes that have it in DBW and removed from late G-6 and other planes that don't have it in DBW. Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1 is a bit outdated and has some filters missing, but this fixes those. In v4.11.1m late G-6 has the filter, so my pack is not compatible with it.
- I copied hooks of Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1 back so that all loadouts should work OK.
- I removed glass parts from distant LODs just like I did for Bf-109 Ultimate Pack. This fixes bugs with disappearing glass when another plane of the same type is visible at distance.
- Incomplete number overlay is removed from Bf-109G-6Early(fi) engine by replacing it with Bf-109G-6Early engine. That overlay is not there in unmodified IL-2.
- I placed the small bombs slightly better.
Then some 3D bugs I noticed while testing:
- Texture mapping of spinner is not compatible with old skins because prop blade roots appear in different place.
- Some edges in lighting around wing root and canopy could perhaps be removed to make the model look even better.
- Old bomb racks and recon camera pod are not compatible with the new shape and should be modified to fill holes.
These bugs appear in my DBW, but are not related to this JapanCat's 3D mod at all:
- Gunpod Mk 108 cannons use the same hook as gunpod MG 151/20 cannons and the flashes are misplaced due to different barrel length. Other hooks for Mk 108 exist, but they are not used in code of DBW and Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1.
- Some loadout names of late G-6 are incorrect in DBW but OK Bf-109 Ultimate Pack v3.1, so this is DBW bug.
There are classfile/COD bugs and are not related to 3D at all.

I'm still fighting to get this mod working, but take a close look at the pilot ;)
Victory; after a short period of trying it my own way, I've copied first JC's files to the map Default Slots\3do\planes - as in mentioned in my earlier post - and than I've applied Birdmans files following instructions . And it works; planes visible and on 'desert' maps with that beautiful filter.
A big thanks to both gentleman for this improvement. :)

That looks like a hier.him conflict with some other mod you have installed. Make sure you don't have any other hier.him files loading instead of the JapanCat's hier.him.

At least the texture mapping in spinner is different. That is clearly visible in Mick's pictures, so maybe he means it. The PropRot comment may also be about the texture mapping difference or about the new rotating blade shape.
Anyway, my dream is to have Jeronimo's rounder spinner with JapanCat's more detailed blades some day.

But it is in the F2 folder and not elsewhere, so if like me you only test the G2 for ex, and then didn't install the F2 folder you won't get it ... ;)

Which game version are you using? Do you mean the stock F-4 variant or some other F-4 version?
At least in DBW with JapanCat's Bf 109 and my compatibility pack installed the stock Bf 109 F-2, F-4, G-2 and G-6 have JapanCat's updated 3D and those new filters on desert maps. Then Bf 109 G-6 Late has new JapanCat's 3D but no filter at all beause it is not coded in DBW. Other Bf 109 variants still have the original DBW 3D without JapanCat's latest updates because JapanCat has not finished updating them yet. Those F and G variants not included in this update still have the old white filter or no filter at all for the later variants.
The new filter is actually included in v4.11m, and in v4.11.1m without Ultimate Bf-109 pack installed you shouldn't see the old filter at all. In all installs with Ultimate Bf-109 pack F and G variants without these latest JapanCat's uptates may have the old filter, so you'll have to choose the stock variants and desert map to see the new filter. If you still can't see the new filter, then you likely have some hier.him conflict with some other hier.him file loading instead of the one in this mod.

Yes, it is that filter together with the two other filter parts. I had to change the part names back to old ones in my compatibility pack to get compatible with old classfiles, but 3D is still the new one.
That Bf 109 doesn't seem to have any of JapanCat's latest 3D updates, so she is likely some variant not yet updated by JapanCat. Anyway, variants without JapanCat's latest updates still have the old filter.

Birdman, - many thanks for your compatability pack, and JapanCat thanks for all the great 3D model improvements!
As with SAS~BravoFxTrt I also have the same problem with the old desert filter still showing on the Bf 109 F-2, F-4, G-2 and G-6 on desert maps , even after carefully following the thread and applying your pack as instructed, overwriting JapanCats files in my DBW setup. (I don't have the Bf-109 ultimate pack.)
Having removed various mods one by one, there seems to be a conflict with Barnesy's latest Luftwaffe pilots mod, at least on my DBW setup. New pilots mod enabled & old filter appears, disable pilots mod and the new v4.11.1m filter appears, complete with open/close animation.
Otherwise everything looks and flies great and bombs are now correctly positioned etc.
Has anyone else found the same issue or got a fix? I have already renamed the Bf-109 mod to load first.
Thanks once again to all involved. - Phas3e - a 2048 F skin would be really great! Wish I had your skill!

hi all the conflict? is that you have two different mods with heir files for the 109 so when i get back to my computer in the new year i will make a patch to accomodate japan cats mod i did send japan cat the pilot mod for his mod but he obviously missed it or dont want to use it so will sort out in the new year the pilot mod was made for stock 109 not modded 109

More than 4.09 and 4.10. A default and the ultimate.

So you only need to get Birdman's "fix" and copy and replace some of JapanCats files with Birdman ones ...

The new model is not perfect compatible with traditional skin.
Since the cockpit has been moved to the back, there are displaced.
If matching of the mapping skin when distortion occurs. very bad.
if we must be an exact match to make the new skin.

Its showing duplicate texture with the external cockpit view. So I don't think mapping on the skin is the issue for that.
That would be the 3d model I would think.
NOT complaining, as I'm very greatful for JC's hard work and dedication. :)

... well not only duplicates, if for ex you consider the head armor protection, it is now where the 20mm gun cover should be, but there is no duplicate to be found in the new head protection armor ...

As a mater of fact it wouldn't be historically correct as the F-4/Z model had a more beefy oil carter as in the BF-109 G... ;)

I think that's important I also compatible with.
However, the compatibility of the skin is technically impossible.

You only need to modify the place of the new objects you have added (like the stick for ex) there is enough room in the template to add new objects without messing all existing skins ... ;)
I am not a skinner myself, so it is difficult for me to explain, but Claymore can do it in detail if you want ... :D

Yes Mick is right, great addition you made by adding the stick inside the cockpit but you could give it a new material and a new associated tga like I did in Fw 190, my stick01_D0 move with the right arm of the pilot so it's separated mesh with it's proper material called "stick.mat" and it's associated tga called "stick.tga" based on the same textures as we have in cockpit folder:

As there is no need to skinners to modify it's texture you leave free space on the template and you have no need to move away all existing and needed textures.

Works perfectly in my 4.10 & 4.11 installs. Also, use 'stock' pilots, problem solved (at least for me).

but i'm curious - how does one get the female pilot to come up? she doesn't appear on the "pilot" list in the arming screen - I reckon i'm missing something here...
my curiosity has grown larger than my judgement on historical coherence over this ;D

Anto's latest Bf109 V4 pack includes all the 3D improvements from the first release (v2012.10.21), the second release (v2012.12.24) is buggy, regarding external cockpit views (cockpit messed up) ... and JapanCat hasn't yet fixed that and I wonder if he will someday ... :'(

Those this mode works on UP3.0 RC4 our I´m doing something wrong?
I only recently saw this tread, a so I downloaded the version on JpanCat directly form is site, and just unzipped it on #UP folder, the game loads, but the aircraft altered don't show up on QMB selection screen, and if the mission is load, I get the horizon bug, some how the new 3D isn't loading.
I have check it out a bit better, the G-10, G-14 and G6 A/S actually work fine, all the others don't show up, the F-2, F-4, G-2, G-6 and G6 Late
