Title: LeO-451 v1.3 [4.09] [4.10] [4.12]
Post by: Ranwers on February 23, 2013, 10:12:48 AM
(https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/img17/6062/45aiy.jpg)

First French bomber in the game  :)
Cockpit is semi similar (based on Pe-2).
- at the ground you can not make out the ventral turret.
- 250m above sea level, you can pull out the turrets (press' Airbrakes "). The speed and stability of the aircraft change!
- As you will notice, 250m above sea level and close to an enemy, both turrets are in position.

Version 1.3
- Some minor bugs fixed
- Added weapons 64x10kg incendiary Bombs
- AI pilot = only in presence of enemy planes : ventral gondola and dorsal turret will automatically activate.
- Manual pilot = it is the player who decides the activation of the gondola, by pressing "AirBrake" key. The turret will automatically activate only in presence of enemy planes.

I tried it in my SAS ModAct4 (411). The plane loads, it appears in the QMB selection box, but then, "mission ... null". Here's what the log says,
INTERNAL ERROR: Can't open file 'effects/smokes/Gun.eff'
WARNING: object 'effects/smokes/Gun.eff' of class 'FObjSect' not created
INTERNAL ERROR: Effect param file 'effects/smokes/Gun.eff' NOT loaded
Mission error, ID_04: java.lang.RuntimeException: INTERNAL ERROR: Effect param file 'effects/smokes/Gun.eff' NOT loaded

I shall give it a try with my SAS ModAct3.6 (4.101) and report back

Thank you Ranwers and all involved! This is GREAT. I am very happy. I have waited some new french plane so long time. Thank you (all)!

And In generally. There has been very good progress in il-2 environment within last year (around).   Example Do-17, Ju-188, Ju-388, Ju-88G, Ki-67, D4Y, SCW-planes and i don't forget new ships and tanks. The plane diversity of il-2 is about huge now!.  Thanks to all modders !!!
But luckily there is still lot to do and wait! :)  Remember: Amiot 354, D.520, HP Hampden, Stirling, Scua, Hudson,  P1Y,  Ki-48, Helldiver  and many others !

I have now tested it with SAS ModAct 3.6 (4.101) and all is fine! Great plane indeed... As for SAS ModAct4 (411) the problem persists,

I'm using 4.11.1m and I use the fm from the folder marked 4.10.  I have Autodiffm found here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=24777.36 installed in my #SAS folder, and this plane works like a charm in 4.11.1m.  The only problem is in the bombadier's position, as reported ealier, but I don't mind, cause I ain't no bombadier.  It's a beautiful model and a great addition!  Just remove the - from in front of the folder marked effects.

I think there was an forgetting in the "readme"
- at ground you can not make out the ventral turret.
- 25m above sea level, you can take out the turrets (press' Airbrakes "). The speed and stability of the aircraft change!
- As you will notice, 25m above sea level and close to an enemy, 2 turrets into place.

Im stupid...Mission loading null error if I try to fly it, if I load up any other plane and place the enemy as LeO its purple, 20m away from the ground and crushes into it, also on scramble missions i start without landing gear and on normal ones with a turned off engine...

And it is a very redoubtable opponent. I've found that as an AI plane, you invariably get shot down by the defensive rear gunners after a few passes ...

I've been trying this plane out quite a lot - it's really one of those types that are just so unusual for a flight sim. You just gotta love it. There is something about the design that makes it look so different.

One thing I have remarked on after repeated missions - the Leo does have a tendency to fly progressively lower and lower and after a period of time it and other in the same flight, will out of themselves crash into the ground, this even when there are no attacking planes or enemies in the vicinity ...

I think you have a problem with overheating for the engines.
In the emd you wrote 0.021 as "te speed" factor, the current factor for 4.11, 4.10,409 buttons is 0.01.
Your engines are too hot  in x min instead of x/2 min (slighly less if you divide by the right figure). AI are obliged to reduce rpm and power to recover normal T°, but as the time in the mission is going on this fact is more and more "heavy" and finaly they can not push the dead engines.
Try to reduce this factor, in HistoMod I am using 0.009, in the real life the danger is coming from too cold engine, but in normal conditions, with normal driving an engine is never too hot; remember Spit can maintain full power more than 20 min without danger in the real past!

I am afraid I still face the problem (at least with A1)...

As an aside - nice brown smoke effects. Which Mod is it?

I am using Plutonium effects, minus the clasfiles (ModAct4, 4.111). The brown smokes must come from Soccorista's fine selection of effects, available at the UP site

Many Thanks to Rawners for this wonderful french rarity !
What a nice surprise, i didn't believe my eyes when i saw it !

No problem to install and fly it in HSFX6 !

Skies of Battle of France are becoming quite crowdy on the french side, with MB-152, MS-406 and H-75's escorting LeO-451's !
(and some more small roles for VG-33 and Caudron714)

You really are a Magician, Rawners !

When I tried to download this, I clicked the link, and ended up on a page in some language (Polish?) that I don't understand, and when I clicked the button that I presume was to download the file, I was prompted, in this language that I don't know, to sign in to something( I think) before I can do the download. I'm kind of reluctant to do this, since I don't understand a word of what I'm signing up for, nd I was wondering here, if someone could put up a link to this in some language I know some of, like, maybe English, or at least Spanish, because that's as multi- lingual as I get, at the moment. :-[

There is nothing to be reluctant about, as you are not signing up for anything. All you need to do is fill in the captcha, press enter and you'll get a download link

Just click on 'Stáhnout' - the yellow field, and on the following page, under 'Omezené stahování', there are a bunch of red crosses, and underneath a captcha that you you should fill in directly underneath ... then press enter ...

That's it ...

There is no signing up necessary or anything. I've downloaded from here countless times.

And just to fill in, the language is Czech ....

I have tried all three of the new FMs for 4.09 and in each case the aircraft maintains height until it extends its gun cupola when the height loss starts. As soon as it withdraws the guns it climbs back to its designated altitude.

I don't understand what to do with those "FM" folders. The readme says to "put them in your buttons" in fairly broken english, but MY buttons file is just a file, not a folder I can put things in. I certainly don't have the capability to edit my buttons file, or the know-how, for that matter. Does it just mean to drop the file in the FM folder into the same folder that the buttons file is in, or is one meant to place the whole folder in the same folder as buttons, or what?
Title: Re: LeO-451
Post by: Mick on March 02, 2013, 01:18:50 AM
... simple, hoddyman, according to the buttons you are currently using in your game , SAS or UV2 or UV3, simply open the corresponding folder that comes with the Leo and replace the default FM file that comes with the LeO (the SAS one if I am not mistaken) with it ...  ;)

So you are right, no need to fiddle with your buttons, as this is an external FM ...  ;)

Hi Guys,

Downloaded and installed however I cant get the skin to show properly in my QMB (looks like a pink/peachy wash all over it) and I get a mission 'NULL' if I try to fly it ??

I've tried the vichy markings, removed the '-' from effects, replaced the FM with the 4.101 version and redownloaded and reinstalled but still the same ?

Any ideas??

Using DBW 1.71 btw
Title: Re: LeO-451
Post by: Hubberranz on March 04, 2013, 10:52:08 AM
...deleting "-" in front of effects did it for me; WORKS;using DBW1.71 (with or without HD mod); with the original 410 download FM; have not changed it yet.
My file position is still "_" in front; unchanged, which is early loading as is. Delete/restore QBM.ini in Quicks; try another map.

(https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/img26/2020/04032013leogun.jpg) (https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/download/26/04032013leogun.jpg)
 - original downloaded FM: lost 820m in engagement, gondola deployed, good rate of descent... (1000m to180m ).
 - separate download FM-2 410buttonsSAS: works; lost 710m in similar engagement, gondola deployed, slightly slower rate of descent.
( 1000m to 290m ). The plane continued to descend a bit 320m to 290m while catching up speed with the cupola back up.
 - difference in final altitude might be due to combat durations...
I have tried all three of the new FMs for 4.09 and in each case the aircraft maintains height until it extends its gun cupola when the height loss starts. As soon as it withdraws the guns it climbs back to its designated altitude.
therefore  same in 410 / DBW.

I Still cant get the skins to show on this plane? I've noticed in the SUMMER/DESERT folders that my skin1o.tga are both of a 1940s saluting cheerleader in red? This is the image that displays as the skin in my QMB?

I tried copying the skin1p.tga up to 1024x1024 and substituting that as my skin1o.tga and albeit this is the damage skin it did show properly in my QMB screen, however when loading a mission I got a memory error although the plane did actually appear on screen (Briefly) this time.

I'm stumped? Is the download corrupted?

There are skins for this plane? I've just gone through the posts and don't see any links to other skins. Have I missed something?

As another thing though - I remember that on another plane, the Caudron, you had to add alpha channels to all the tga skins in order for other skins in .bmp to show up ...

making, if you look at Ranwer's avatar, that might give some clue as to where that comes from.
as the skin10.tga is not essential, i think he just put that in for a laugh, perhaps?
the one you should concern yourself with is skin1o.tgb
that is the primary default skin that will be used.
i'm kinda guessing here, as i haven't installed this yet, myself - but that's the principle of it, anyway.

if your skin is displaying that, then something is wrong, for sure...

Hi Malone thanks mate I've managed to view the .tgb's you mention in Irfanview (disregarding the renaming option to .tga) and that is the correct skins. I just dont understand why the QMB keeps showing the skin1o.tga instead ?? Surely someone else has run into this problem ??

I will take your suggestion tho as I assume this will allow me to once again use 'high' as my universal graphics setting??
Title: Re: LeO-451
Post by: SAS~Loku on March 07, 2013, 03:33:14 AM
All four skins are neccesary to make mod work properly: skin1o.tgb, skin1o.tga, skin1p.tga, skin1q.tga.
Depend on your graphic setting, game will use skin1o.tgb for perfect and excelent mode and skin1o.tga for high and lower settings.
My advice is to take skin1o.tgb resize down to 512x512 size and save as skin1o.tga.

No,they are standrad 1024 size, same as stocks, just because your graphic settings are low game use lower resolution 512 size skin.

Hi just an update I can only view the skin if I select 'excellent' in objects detail, if I leave the setting as normal I get the damage skin only ?? Thats after a resize to 512x512. I note the new skin1o.tga overwrites the one aleady in the folder (Ranwers Cheerleader) and leaves the skin1o.tgb in place - is this correct ?? or should I delete the .tgb version ??

Tried your new FM Epervier. Good news is the LeO is flying on a much more level course i.e not losing height and crashing.
Bad news however is I'm now getting ctd when pressing 'M' for map, if the aircraft is hit by flak or damaged and when adjusting engine power (pressing 1,2,3.....etc.)

I'm using UP3 install, SAS buttons 10.0, SAS modact 3.06

I don't use HSFX 6.0, but it seems that the bomber position glitch appears only in this version because the plane was made for 4.09 and 4.10.1. So, you can try to install it in 4.09 or 4.10.1 or wait for a patch for the 4.11 version.

I have installed and briefly tested the latter FM and got it working flawless in my 410 (not yet tested map 'M' key or take flak hit) but I got a strange issue in my 409:

The selector usually disappear when game start to load and the IL2 window appear in the low screen end , but after installing the latter update (new FM and a new classfile) the game run with the selector window tag still shown but if I lower the screen and try to reenable the selector nothing happen; moreover restarting the game make the selector still happen at game run but the game low screen window don't shown anymore and if I lower the game I can't reup it in full screen....

Enabling older FM and classfiles sove the issue....

My 409 is a heavy modded mod activator 2.3....

Today more test....and a look at log file....

Thanks for this beautiful french bomber!!! Very important for the Battle of France scenario, but useful too for a fictional campaign under Regia Aeronautica colours...  :)

@Benno: probably the problem is your browser. I use Firefox without problems. Bye!

Still no luck with a D/L link  :'(
Benno :'(

There is a yellow square to the right that says 'Stahnout' - click on that and it will take you the next page where you have to fill in a captcha - 4 deformed letters in a prominent color. Fill the letters in the box immediately underneath and either press <enter. or click on 'stahnout' again ...

Your download link should automatically start and you'll be asked where to save the file ...

Bit confused here. Which is the correct FM for DBW 1.7/Il-2 4.10? The one which appears at reply no. 137 (on page 12 of this thread) or some other (for example, in the first post)?

Also, as far as the FM which appears at reply no. 137, contained therein is a folder entitled "FM_410_buttonsSAS" with a file "LEO451_FM" inside and a separate file (outside the folder) which also reads "LEO451_FM". Which one should be installed? I also presume that the file "FAE5FEA0B49E5C12" is to be placed in the _Leo451 folder as well, correct?
Title: Re: LeO-451

Correct !
Title: Re: LeO-451
Post by: btasm on March 09, 2013, 02:53:03 PM
Sorry, which is correct?

a.) Install the FM which appears at reply no 137?

b.) Then install the file inside "FM_410_buttonSAS" or

c.) Install the separate file entitled "LEO451_FM" and

d.) Place "FAE...." in the _Le0451 folder?

And finally, was this FM designed to stop the ai slowly, but surely, losing altitude then crashing?

Thanks.

btasm et.al for DBW, way I did it is drop the _Leo 451 INTO #DBW then download the attachment at very bottom of download page for 410_b2.7z users.(---I used the one that was downloaded 462 times) If you look at very bottom of _Leo451 there is FAE5FEA0B49E5C12 and LEO451FM. I deleted both those files. Now, back to the For_410_Users clip attachment d/l, Iopened the file and found FAE5FEA0B49E5C12 and LEO451FM. I copy and pasted those files to replace the original files and it worked. Of course, I had to do all the other routine stuff like the .ini file copy n paste etc.

>>>I know it seems like they must be the same files, but apparently they're not. Only Ranwers can can answer this I think. But I am somewhat illiterate in this kind of computer work, the whys are for greater minds. All I know is that this worked for me. Good luck.
Hope this helps somebody to get this beautiful bird flying ;)

Hi!

Just tested in both 409 and 410!

All work flawless apart a little missing error in my 410 due a missing effect:

Mission error, ID_04: java.lang.RuntimeException: INTERNAL ERROR: Effect param file 'effects/smokes/Gun.eff' NOT loaded

Since I have solved it in my rig and the effects are a customizable part of the game it's not said that others can have the same issue!

Ask at need!

Thanke to all involved!

All the very best!

You must have a folder "-Self_Stationary_Plane_LeO-451!"

For those that have the bombsight bug in HSFX6 ( black stripe and bombsight not working)
I made a simple and quite crude tweek.
Tweeked the bombsight classes so the package bellow uses same bombsight like the Pe-2.

The tweek as I said is very crude but it appeared to be working when I tested.
You can try it out if you need a bombsight.
I cannot guarantee it will work 100% right, see bellow link for more info.

https://www.mediafire.com/?e7iuce48xjnayvj

Important Note:
! I did not write the bombsight code in this package.
All credit goes to the makers of Pe-2.
So if you want to give someone credit it's them( not sure if it's official or modder that made it)
All I did was creativally duplicate it to be honest

Your mod work perfectly on HSFX 6, it's a great addition for human who wants to pilot this plane.
In the same way, i would like to known if you are able to make such same mod for others bombers as Lancaster Wellington and Potez 540 for HSFX 6.017, because the bombsight capability is off for human.

Hi, having odd problems with this bird. The thing loads fine, comes up in the QMB menu fine. But crashes when you try to fly it as it is loading. Even more oddly if you try to use it as an opponent AI plane. Your own plane's engine won't work (We are in the Twilight  zone DeeDee Dahda DeeDee Dahda) You just glide gently into the ground. I was using DBW 1.7. Would love to get this plane working, even as an AI plane.
Any advice?

I had the same sort of problems. Loading null error is often caused by a weapon you choose as loadout from which there's no classfile. But in this case it's the effect file (to be excactly the map) who causes this. Just like it's said in the read me file, if you got trouble with the effects just take away the "-" in front of the map file name (that solved my problems). If you got a plane as AI plane who got a Loading NUll Error as you try to fly it yourself it will cause that your engine won't start....
Hope this helps and works...

Hi all,

I'm running 4.12.2 Mod Act 5.3 and downloaded Leo 4.10 version. I've got this flying now.
I did have some issues -
1. Forgot to paste the Self Stationary files from within the folder to the main plane file  :-[
2. Needed to remove the '-' from the effects folder. (Mission fail:null)

Thanks for the great work!  :)

I have been a long term DBW 1.7.1 player but it's time to move on a reap the great improvements from 4.12! Still, it's nice to bring some of the wealth from DBW over to 4.12.

Keep up the good work guys!

Just discovered this sweet little thing right in front of my nose ! NavAid !   G = you'r left of...     D = you'r right of...   ( Beacon objects, Radio Station objects )
Yahooo! This is fun...
[ Rem left/right is from the object perspective...  here the "Lorenz-long" is left 300m behond the end of runway. With normal beacons a strait arrow means either it's in front or back ].
[ So check by banking the plane off line: assume beacon is in front, banking left should put you "right of beacon" (=D); if the needle moves "left" (=G), the beacon is behind you... ].
