Title: Lockhed 12 A or Electra Jr., Lockheed Hudson, Ki-56
Post by: Kopfdorfer on March 21, 2011, 10:27:03 AM
The Lockheed Electra family of Civilian AIrcraft would be a welcome edition to the lexicon.

Super Electra 14
(http://www.cclausen.net/ebvjpgs/lockheed_electra.jpg)
Lodestar 18
(http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/j/Lockheed%20Model%2018.jpg)

Indeed this family and its sibling the Lodestar both led directly to the militarily important Hudson, Ventura and Harpoon families. It would seem to make sense that once one is attacked by one of our rabid modders, the others would be more likely to be produced.

Hudson

Ventura
(http://www.bathead.com/Noseart/faw4.jpg)

Harpoon
(http://www.warbirddepot.com/dbimages/17/17-a-1280.jpg)

They carried just about every conceivable type of armament, in addition to being a major contributor as a transport aircraft, as well as air/sea rescue.

A real workhorse!

Mmmm, it would be nice to have something like this family, because it could include an approximation of the Kawasaki Ki-56 (Type 1 Freight Transport).

This one is pretty close. It will need offensive loadouts, and a tail dragger landing gear.

and the MkIIIA (with US armament).

Plus the other member of the Electra Warbird family :

Ki56 Thalia Light Transport

Though her dimensions are a trifle different , she definitely belongs in the stable.

I rarely post in Requests, as the few people who mod aircraft have their hands full with other projects, and a list of future projects as long as your arm- However, in this case, this is one of those aircraft which should have always have been in IL2 from the start- flown by multiple airforces in virtually all WWII theatres.

Thanks to Ranwers and some others, the list of glaringly obvious omissions- aircraft that played large parts in WWII- is getting much smaller ( the B26, Do17 etc), but the Hudson/Harpoon/Ventura family, along with proper versions of the RAF 4 engined heavys (which I dont expect to see anytime soon), the Helldiver, Hs126, the Baltimore and a few others are part of the list of 'should definitely be in IL2' just because of the important roles they played in WWII. Hope one day someone takes them on.

I completely agree and I'd like to see this family of faithful work horses flying in the IL2 skies!

Thanks for this request,

Untill someone makes one here is what I did. I took the Navy skin from this plane...

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13782.0.html

Skins here...

https://www.mediafire.com/?gnlbx766l81t6hw

I then took the B-25-D 5NC and put the skin into its skin folder. I edited the skin to have the black hole for the top turret and got this....

(http://s19.postimg.cc/bzelo61b7/20_04_2013_17_16_30.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

No rockets but it has bombs. It could be used as a poor stand in .Anyway its just a suggestion.

Replacing the tricicle landing gear by a tail sitter we can have a more similar plane. Of course adding rockets will be amazing!

Thanks for reviving this request guys.
It is unarguably a worthy project.
Just as an added comment , I believe that the most significant version , and thus by my particular reckoning the variant that ought to be the first version , would be the Hudson MkIIIA. It was built in very significant numbers (601) , served in several theatres for several nations , and toted a full cupboard of armaments and ordnance , not to mention a transport role.

Also , this variant could be easily adapted as a Model 14 Super Electra  civilian version , and finally Amelia Earhart could be satisfied!

I would truly love to see her in IL2 .

I think he would have already posted it in case he had one. The Ranwers clan can't cover all the WW2 planes.

It's not at all close, unless you mean they're both aircraft.

Milton Schupe has done some stunning work on the series for FS9. He can be found at sim-outhouse. He may be open to a project for IL-2, using his models which already exist, subject to the usual restrictions and caveats. The worst he can say is no.
