Just tried it, this will be an instant classic, this is a great improvement of the GUI. Thanks!
And I love the way you can jump in any aircraft.
FYI, I tried it quickly on Linux, seems OK. Perhaps a glitch with EcranWide, but I think it is my setup.
I use IL-2 on Linux with a program called Wine that creates a simulated windows profile. Quick question: Is it possible to use this with Chromadepth 3d glasses?Just tried it, this will be an instant classic, this is a great improvement of the GUI. Thanks!

S.H.,
when you say "I tried it on Linux"what does it exactly mean? Do you run the Il-2 in Linux? How?

Probably in the future I will implement an alternative HotKey for it to be dedicated.
And how is the performance with the Windows simulated Linux? Have you compared it to native Windows? Because some OpenGL operations can work better with it.
Regarding Chromadepth I don't know much about it, but the source image (what you see in the screen) should be quite manipulated as far as I know. It is more complicated tan showing two semi-images.

Pablo
Excellent innovation.
I've noticed some glitches, flying from Quick Mission planner.
-sometimes (usually after multiple successful "control plane" changes, the menu doesn't disappear with Tab key (and the communication order tree doesn't appear any more either)
-when this happen, map does not appear either, and the game cannot be paused
-in some cases, Autopilot cannot be disabled (which leaves me able to changes cockpits but unable to pilot the planes)
-when I exit the mission, the menu bar and status bar remain in view below the regular IL-2 menu interface
-when I hit refly or start a new flight and hit Tab key, the communications menu comes up normally, and when I hit Tab key again, both the communications menu AND the "stuck" menu- and status bar disappear from view.
Log file shows some null pointer exceptions: http://pastebin.com/w2JY5QEZ
Hi Pablo,
first: thank you for this great mod!
Second: I have a bug to report.
I don't know if you remember me but before I had great difficulty getting this mod to work on my PC. I just thought I'd try again, and lo andbehold... I actually got it to work!
In the process I also found out what the problem is.
If I have these settingsin the conf.ini the game works:
width=1920
height=1080
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
SaveAspect=1
WideScreenFoV=0
If I have these settingsin the conf.ini the game crashes:
width=1920
height=1080
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
SaveAspect=0
WideScreenFoV=1
(Just the relevant bits shown)
Is this a bug, a feature or a problem specific for my notebook with both Intel on-cpu graphics and discrete Radeon graphics?
All the best and thanks again!

What's wrong?0-Stereo Disabled
1-Stereo Mode A (the one you saw in v4Beta, that now is the default)
2-Stereo Mode B (the original v3, “flickering” one, but good for some systems).
3-Stereo Mode C (a variant of the V3 with two buffers, non-flickering but slower. Could be very good in some powerful GPUs).
4-Stereo Mode D (a two combined frames version that still doesn't work very good. In some video cards can work OK).
Thank you santobr – now it works. :D Now I can say too finally ‘well done – benitomuso and the SAS Team – Thank you!!!
Is there any opportunity to get polarized(interlaced)-3D for my 3D-Display. :-* With TriDef-3D it works by using an opengl32.dll but not really good. I’ve a ATI-Card.

It is posible I think.
I can figure out some ways of achieving that. But it requires too much effort and hours of development to make it work properly.
Sorry but for me it doesn't worth the effort.

Pablo
People,
sorry but I have been quite busy lately.
Thanks for all the congratulations and encouraging comments.

This MOD Works on the principle of alternating frames (one for the left eye, the next for the right eye). In the anaglyph mode typically used, both images are mixed up to show to your eyes a stable image.
It can easily be sent as two completely independent frames in full color that will produced an image with phantom to your eye because the fast alternance). If your Monitor set, your video card or whatever could interlace it, you are done.
The so called "Mode C" of the Stereo feature works with two separate buffers (left and right) that can be sent by a video card to a 3D monitor (in any possible format for it). But the problem is that few and only expensive cards have this feature of "real stereoscopic infrastructure".
Regards,
Pablo
A card that is capable of this can be bought for $30 dollars now. But I'm not sure how well.
XFX HD-545X-ZQH2 Radeon HD 5450 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card.
Now it's perfect! :o
There is no more problems when we have water in the screen. 8)
About 3D TVs, the mode B almost works in alternate frames 3D mode of my TV.
The only problem is that I can't sustain more than 60 FPS all the time, so, the image changes from left to right all the time.
Mode C doesn't detect my ATI HD6950 and the mode D only shows the left image.
I hope some day we could enjoy the 3D effect with our cheaper 3D TVs, we are almost there. ;)
Thank you, Pablo, this mod is fantastic, fantastic indeed. :)
santobr.
In my 3D TV, it doesn't work like that. :)
When the TV recognizes a 3D signal, it automatic changes the FPS to 24FPS because of the HDMI limit (it is a cheaper 3D TV).
This mean that the TV is expecting 58FPS or less.
It doesn't matter how much frames the source will transmit to the TV, just like in 2D, the image is repeated by the buffers until the GPU generates the next pair of images.
The effect is very very good, I can play ARMA2, Alien vs Predator, S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, RO2, Men of War, Rise of Flight.
My system is not the best, I have a good card HD6950 but a cheaper CPU and 4GB of RAM.
Just like when I play 2D games, in some heavy scenes the FPS drops, but the image remains perfect, never changes, it never lost the synchronism.
If it works with nVidia, I think it is a matter of detail to enable the quad-buffers for ATI in OpenGL mode. ;)

PhoenixOrion, try values
PAL3DFollowInertia=0.1
PAL3DFollowInertiaAngle=0.1
Basically, the way it's set up, seems to be that values approaching 0 have the "full" inertia and values approaching 1 have reduced inertia. But higher values don't seem to work properly, causing a lot of camera flicker - even values 0.5 caused a lot of unwanted behaviour.
Default value being 0.01, if you put the values to 0.1 you get about 1/10th of the inertia (assuming some kind of linear scale, could be logarithmic or exponential as well...). It's there, but not distracting in fast in-game camera movements.
I like the inertia very much, but default values feel just a bit too high (or low) for gameplay. They're just about perfect for making videos, though, so I will probably experiment with different values and adjust them according to whether I'm recording video or actually flying. At the moment, I've settled to values 0.03 for both Inertia and InertiaAngle.
Phoenix,
don't be so anxious and read just once but in depth. Look at this post:

It explains that now a specific setting in MISC Controls appears. It is called GameMenu and gives to all of us the chance of selecting a specific key to deploy the menú.

Request for further understanding of Mode C:
I have an Nvidia GTX670 running on a standard 60 hz LCD monitor at 1920x1200. However, "I think" I see enhanced 3D when using Mode C without glasses. I am not sure if its the RealFollow or Mode C, but something is making the pit look more 3D with stick and other controls appearing lifted from frame. Not sure if its a placebo or not, but using Mode C, I'm assuming I should be on a 120 hz monitor and using Nvidia proprietary 3D glasses setup, correct?
All in all, great mod and definite visual improvement, but I am not sure if I am seeing true 3D without glasses, or its simply the effect of RealFollow?

Hello, Pablo.
Do you have an ATI card?
santo.
Hi Pablo, thank you to add me on credits..:).. Hope you are going well with all .. cheers!. :)
When I go to the menu and choose "Control Enemy Plane" and jump into the cockpit I have no control over the plane. When I jump back into the plane I left I can't control it either. What simple thing have I missed?

I'd guess you need to hit your autopilot key? Worth a try anyway.
It is explained before,
you have to find in your Controls screen, in MISC section, the option which says "Game Menu" and assign a HotKey to it. I suggest the "Home" in the Keyboard.

able to make a proper Reload (Refuel / Rearm),
Is it possible to include this mod
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,27198.0.html
to your visual mod I tried to use camera mod with your visual mod but I lose your game menu feature when I put camera mod to load before your mod.
one question though Pablo:
in first pic you see only a few static objects, no problem,
but in second pic there is no way to get back to the menu.
And when there are more objects, how to show them?
I will try changing the fonts, but maybe you have a better idea?

Hi Avala - latest version is with reply 97 of this thread, https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37311.msg426721.html#msg426721
:D
Current 8.2 version has two problems I've detected so far.
1. It overrides my font configuration mod and makes the interface font obnoxiously huge again, as well as using different font than what I'm running from another mod. This can be solved with moving my own font mod above the visual mod in loading order, but it was a bit of a surprise to have to deal with that.
2. When the "Game menu" button is used, the game freezes with a java error:Code: [Select][7:31:18 PM] java.lang.NoSuchMethodError

Regarding question of which one, as stated by Whisky Sierra, it is this one:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37311.msg432919.html#msg432919
Lasts versions corrected that in good amount (they update the position 10 times faster when the plane is dead or lost stability)Thanks for the update.. I'll make sure I have the latest version and try again...
If you mean you don't like the inertial behavior: in the Game Menu Storebror included check options to enable/disable them. I took that in further developments.
aka # brackets here, along with the system specs like above and your game version like above.. ;)..you get a good chance for a precise tip often. The brackets for code (to spare space when posting long text) come up when you hit the # sign when making a post. 3rd bar of signs above text window, to be precise, at least on my rig.Thanks again "MadDaog"..last night I tried to find the "mystery" (game menu) again to no avail!. I then decided to start from scratch and removed all il2 files and re-install il2 4.12.2+modact5.3+the latest version (5/22/14) of 00.pal.visual mod8. And that put me right back to the .....modact splash screen ...then desktop....nothing else! no game start!...then I removed the Visual mod8 file from jsgmemod file and put in the version from another post in this SAS thread topic ( PAL-VisualMOD8-v4122_RRR.7z ) and activate it using jsgme that file would let il2 start but no sign of the visual mod8 in the controls setup menu!.
obviously I am not doing something right?
I know the mod dev put lots of hard long hours into this mod, and it is very well appreciated by all the IL2 1946 fans.
But! it would be great to have some kind of docs for this mod for peaple who run into issues (like me!)? And it looks like a game changer if i could ever get it to work!
Well..I'll keep trying!
Thanks! for any help I can gleam from the SAS community.
hi Pablo :D
i hope it hasn't already been mentioned, i didn't read through the entire thread, but would it be possible to prevent, when taking control of another plane, that it reverts to a default skin and markings?
this is not a major issue, just a 'would be nice' thing ;)
i explained the trick in my previous post ;)
Hello again, I have a question about the known accepted resolutions when using Modact and Visual mod 8. I seem to not be able to use my native PC monitors resolution (1680 X 1050) or my 3d monitors native res (1920 X 1080) only res above 1280 X 1024 thats allowed s 1600 X 1200.
When mod-select is set to no mods it allows my native res but not if I set to modact ?. any ideas here?
Nice mods though...even in 1280X1024! But no stereo (other than red blue) on my 3d monitor needs to be native res of 1920x1080 to work properly.
It doesn't work for me. I'm running SAS ModAct 5.2x (4.12.1m) when its loading(QMB), it runs smoothly and then when it reaches 100% the sounds of the aircraft plays but not the game. It stucks at the loading screen.... :( Any advice??

Hi Pablo
just a question on the new ultra-cool pilot addition - is it possible to allow this pilot control more than once?
to explain, this is what i did in a mission - did a ground-start, bailed out, went walkabout a bit, then took control of another plane on the runway.
took off with this plane, then bailed out at altitude - parachuted down, and was met with the usual automated running and diving pilot sequence.
would it be possible to allow for me to parachute down, and then run around in the countryside again..? or not..?
it's no big deal if it can't be done, or is too much extra work, just thought i'd ask to find out.. ;)
Pablo
A great mod again mate thank you. I too was wondering something, with this mod or something similar do you think it may be possible in the future to have deployable paratroopers?
I don't mean controllable ones for the player, but paratroops that on landing instead of running and diving, would maybe adopt a firing position or advance a distance then adopt a firing position?
Again just wondering not a request mate.
cheers
slipper
please provide the full path name to your game...
give me the full path, i.e: C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik....
only install the latest ;)
Yes, your game is in your desktop
Thanks for a truly impressive mod, Pablo!
Is it possible too save the selections you make, so you don't have to redo them next time?
I've searched, but haven't been able to locate any answer to this.
What settings are you referring to regarding non-saving issue?
I have not been able to get visual MOD V8 or V9 to work, im running HSFX 7, 4.12.2, when I install this mod I can run the game and it works fine, but if I close out the game and try to start it again I get a crash. something to do with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Please help.
