First Beta of "Jetman Reloaded".
Use at your own risk. All links of the "original" Jetman Release can be found below for reference.
I recommend to get rid of all other previous Jetman Versions before installing this one.
You can keep the old air.ini line though.

This model can, because we dont want to spend too much time on it, and start pulling apart meneuver classes and things, not be put into it's own slot.
It uses the lerche slot.
Because of that, i could also not change the default loadout. So the guns are the same, they are not a cheat, but they look and sound like lazers now. So be sure to remove this mod again when you are doing some serious campaigning.. Obviouslly the lerche's rocket loadout wont work. Just ignore it.
Also, this thing is about as franken as they come, so it is surrounded by large invisible things and has the proper bugs we expect by now.
This uses its own FM, so you will need SAS buttons 4.8 or later. It is the same parameters as the Lerche FM (so once again, cannot be used as a cheat) only it has jet sounds.
The jets dont flame or smoke, since it would fry his feet, and as I said, I just dont have the time at the moment. Wingtip smoke looks great though.
And then there are some serious invisibility issues when using nav lights and such. Nothing I can do with that, it is what it is.
This takes off and lands like a horten (with airbrake engaged), and I think Go229 skins will work.

i dunno what some people always have with their "always historical" behavior, modding should be fun and sometimes (or always) this stuff really is fun :D
maybe you can use the legs as elevators, if theyre damaged, you can see some wounds, and they can fall off, then you see bones, and the shoes are the elevator controls (i dont know the english name, those things that move) and the also get damaged and fall off, same things with the arms as aileron
and if you shoot off the tail section, his hips fall off, and if the player is killed, his head falls off or sht :o :D

Just a thought.......Imagine what would have happened if someone new to IL2 would have wandered over here and requested a mod like JETMAN. I know we all would have had a good chuckle at that.
ALSO.......JETBABE is a needed addition,IMO. However in order to be admitted into the Brotherhood of Super Heros and Villians Union,he is REQUIRED to have an approved sidekick.(Superman was OK'ed because he was "grandfathered" in.)Please try to follow the rules.I don't want to end up flying some unrealistic scab mod!

Thanks for the skin too- I used a copy of it for a template with the bolt pattern from the GO void skin.
Lots of fun - I can imagine some really interesting mission possibilities between drivable pt boats, tanks, vehicles and firepower- all being laid waste by flying Batmans ;) - jk; I might set up something like that once it's all available just to watch what happens 8)

Yes, to make it work in its own slot we would have to change the maneuver class file, and it is doable, but it would infringe on every other modpack and AI and FM mod system out there. i dont like mods that interfere with the whole system, so I chose to make it this way. When we do somthing that needs to edit an important class such as this, it will have to be for something a lot better than jetman.

apart from that possible-or-not-crap:
i am experiencing either a 5% or a 60% crash when trying to start with this enabled, depending on whether i use 4.08m, 4.09m, UP without any mods, UP with "safe_.dll" and so on. yes i have latest buttons. anybody got an idea why?

1st off, all of mods at SAS is for 4.09m or upwards, so not recommended for 4.08 or 4.09b1m
Then if you get 60%, have you followed the 60% troubleshooter yet?

For some odd reason, I'm not getting anymore crashes, but no jetman either. UP, jetman in MODS, no JsgmeMods enabled, fine loading, selecting the lerche, click on fly, loading and ... lerche! no jetman neither fmb nor qmb.

edit: never mind, found and removed the offending classfile. my Lerches are back to their normal, ugly selves. ;)
for anyone who has this issue, remove the following classfile from your Jetman install: 730EE8429B57C08C

Just some more information: to have the Lerche shown properly remove from Jetman folder the 730EE8429B57C08C file. And, just to avoid conflicts, you can also disable "Presets" and "Samples" folders (the ones in Jetman folder), so that all Lerche will have back default gun sound (and not laser one). Only downside will be that also Jetman will use Lerche gun sound. It's up to your choice.
Edit: Dho! Malone, I just saw you edited your post about the class file removing. Sorry for redundancy. ;D

my prefered method is to cover the mod in vaseline, then use a broomstick to jam it in as deep as I can until I pass out.

ok thanks. the reason being for adding aircraft is that i just installed Ultr@Pack 2.01 and the SAS Mods folder reverts it back to Mod Activator but i fixed the problem i forgot to do a clean install.

OK, problem fixed: I've downloaded the old version. Now, it works but I have the 'invisible' problem and I have Jetman instead of Lerche. And Jetman is very funny to pilot !!!!!!!! :D :D ;D ;D And it's really dangerous : I destroyed an Ace Go-229 in QMB without any problem ! It looks like ennemies don't even see me !

i figured out the issue with 4.12... its quite a simple fix... the air.ini is incorect on here

once i did this... everything worked out ok
edit: after another quick test i realised that there still needs some work to be done... just changing the Air now replaces the lerche haha... this is strange due to the fact of how the class files are that came with it... ill continue t look into it

i... its quite a simple fix...
edit: after another quick test i realised that there still needs some work to be done... just changing the Air now replaces the lerche haha... this is strange due to the fact of how the class files are that came with it... ill continue t look into it
What you did is revert BACK to a no slot Jetman.
But I found Lerch to be too underpowered. Take off is impossible. ( Yes, I know about use of airbrakes ).
The lerch fm may be at it's worse in 412, more then everywhere else.

When taking a closer look at the classfiles it appears that the one given is the lerche class file...

The slot Jetman use the same FM as Lerch, I think... maybe all same classes...
After you changed the air.ini the way you did, you are just using a raw Lerche, with an added twist: now Lerche has a new skin file named "Jetman" .

... had to change my ware. Updatum: I just used it in QBM and with another map: the thing went up like a rocket. Oh well. Go figure.
OK. Area 51 airport altitude was 2000m., with almost impossible to take-off. The other place is 5m near sea level, and featured EZ take-off ! :P
I will need to dig a silo 2000m deep, and launch from there. Just kidding. ;D

ok after some more tinkering i think i have it figured out haha i made a new class file for jet man and got him flying
just drop this file into your jetman folder and keep your air.ini file just like it says on the first page

Although you have eliminate the crash at 60% in 412, there is still a problem:
now you have two slots for Jetman, and NO Heinkel LercheIIIb.
I'm pretty sure it's not there. :(

The two-slot Jetman bug can be fixed by deleting the file "730EE8429B57C08C".
However there are a couple of severe bugs remaining.
I might build a fresh Jetman later this week, please be patient...

Found this: lercheIIIb gunsounds cannot be restored while Jetman412 is in use.
( nullifying -Presets and -samples don't do the job ).

right now the sound issues have to do with one of the classfiles... you can return the lerches sounds but it also changes jetmans gunsounds back as well... i could fix this, but i say we wait for mike to finnish his version haha

I found in past versions, the altitude of the airport mattered. Take off near sea-level make it better.
Tested LercheIII = everything (is back) to normal !

Now that this one gets airborne at around 65% thrust with 100% plus nuke applied, and the engine's critical height is 6000m, I think it should have enough power to even take off from Mt. Everest :D

At 2000m (51) had to bend forward 35' , and go towards HZ flight more quickly: ( .. note it was near impossible before.. ). 412

Tips to take- off : - remember it is two engine craft. Engage both engines and insure both are running.
- 412.2m often miss-start an engine; so you need to verify with separate engine trust test. ( or use an autopilot start ).
- although I managed to ATOMIC jump start towards horizontal without airbrakes on...
- using air-brakes allows VTOL flight, like LercheIII.
Tips VTOL Landing - engage airbrakes; this gives stable VTOL. + Use 3rd person view.
- use ONLY rudder to rotate or correct unwanted rotation; to point/vector towards the runway lenght.
- precision is key; slightly and momentarily push ( tiny hits ) forward or backward on elevator to hz-move or stop motion.
- Avoid ailerons at all cost: if engaged, you will need to abort.
- LercheIII lands with 53% power at sealevel. Jetw'man with 57% at 2000m altitude.
- you need to achieve vertical air immobility (hover) at any power needed, before U can easedown slowly.
( usually hovering finally settles in at and around 55% of power, over low altitude lands ).

This mod is one of the most fun making mods out there! And it runs mostly without issues. However I encountered a strange bug. I was going down on an Arty with 700km/h and got hit by the Arty which caused my plane to emidiently stop in the Air. Jetman was just hanging there without 1 single movement for like 1 and a half Minute until I finally got shot down. ;D
