New version. :o :-[
You need to run the game on Open GL to load it properly since I freed one texture slot on addition for Lanzarote and the Canaries. ;)
Changelog:
From 11.01.:
Added volcano tex at Lanzarote, reworked some tex and their area posits at the Canaries.
Yep Steve, made that for you! ;) Feel free to improve. :P
Chose to not reduce volcano texture size on map with extension of "...,2/4" to have a slightly bigger volcano area on these places.
Looks not perfect but ok to me, especially at noon, when this map looks best anyway.
Added options.
E.g. Default is what you download, the landlight.mat file in options is a version better for late noon flights.
Also the palm trees by SAS+Boomer look best in the added HiRes version. I kept them 1024x1024 by default to be easy on users without Hi Res mod.
Added an extra for different cloud files, also as slot in load.ini for those who want to activate.
Reworked Guelmim area a tad.
I added a BumpH file for bumpy look of the volcano texture, if you want to decativate that look, go to "MapMods\maps\_Tex\ag\Ifni3" and rename "redkolybia60_fields.BumpH" to "-redkolybia60_fields.BumpH", with the "-". Or delete the file.
From yesterday, also included!
Sligtly changed texture colours, very subtle..
Also I did what was long planned...added the scrub 2 layer jungle forest way farer inland like seen as per Google imagery and that many times.
Added a new jet capable airfield at the very southwest of Morocco's part of this map.
Its reallife name is TanTan, here I named it in '' 'Aeroport TanTan Nationale', showing thus it is more inland and south in RL.
But the error is marginal, for purists I added backup map files to erase this airport.
So now this map is jet capable with one great desert takeoff place at Sidi Ifni and 2 jet bases.
More important, I also took care of Lanzarote and the tiny part of Gran Canaria. I added the scrub forest there where applicable as per my research and slightly changed a few tex from agracier's default.
To install,
put the MapMods folder inside your Mods/#SAS/DBW named modding folder and allow to overwrite.
(Only for advanced users: Backup your "MAPMODS\MAPS\_Tex\ag\Ifni3" folder in case you already have a previous version of this map...and want to combine the new stuff with that tex version.)
Add the all.ini entry.
Quick missions by Uufflakke (+ by me) added, they go into your QMB mission segment.
One has a waterstart point (RedAirbase01) and one starts from the airbase at Guelmim (jet base).
Credit as in previous posts.
Map by agracier
City and village layouts and buildings mostly by Uufflakke.
Trees by SAS+Boomer (optional in their HiRes version added and included under "Option" folder.)
Bases' templates by Dixiecapt. (2 jet bases..)
New Ifni capital building layout, add-on trees and population, harbour and harbour land mass, scrub forest all over the map, tex recolour etc by me.
Have fun!
Cheers
Tom/Thorsten

------------
This map is system intensive only at Sidi Ifni capital, see previous comments..I put more trees and buildings at the capital than any other map contains at one place. You can avoid stutter (lower end systems) by starting from Guelmim airbase inland or starting with the Blue Quick Missions.
All Quicks except one waterstart and the Guelmim Scramble mission are by Uufflakke.
Here is the previous thread...

Post reply #34 has the last complete and well tested version. The last page the first version of this new upload.
TBH I did not care too much about campaigns. I tried to not cover too many houses with scrub forest, but did not care too much about NOT covering them ugly roads lol. :)

Great job indeed!!!! Many thanks for your latest offer, 8)

Thank you Marcost and Costas for your friendly words! :)

Found an error in your load.ini. The wood section, wood 2,3 and 4 points to " Ifni " and in my install the texture " Transparent " is not in there but is in your _tex folder for this map so just add a " 3 " to the end of ifni so it looks like this...
Wood2 = ag/Ifni3/transparent.tga
Wood3 = ag/Ifni3/transparent.tga
Wood4 = ag/Ifni3/transparent.tga
-
Copy that and thank you Mark, I will check this soon and fix the upload later.
Cheerio
Thorsten
-
PS: Darn, missed the "3" in that value. Must have been a stupid leftover from my side while modifying many versions from the older map versions. :-[
Will fix! :)
-
It happens to all of us from time to time. Mine is when I'm ready to release a map, I have to go gather textures from other tex folders where I have been getting them from and listing their new path in the load.ini. Sometimes, more often than not, I miss a few textures or making the correct .ini listing and as I'm testing it, It takes forever to get everything right. :)
-
Thanks Thorst, great looking map i'll have to climb in a MIG now and have a fly around that volcano.
-
Thanks Steve.. :)
Link updated, 2nd link has the fix.
Cheers pals.
Thorst.
-
hi Thorsten,
You've been slowly upgrading this Ifni map for ever in a day :D ;)
It can get very addictive yes :D ;)
Looking forward to flying on one of the most revamped maps ever ;) :)
Cheers

Options folder seperate
https://www.mediafire.com/download/bajtki8j4be10rl/Option.rar
Mediafire sucks atm..
Will add new options to first post link also:
First, I played with the map_T.tga file to add a little less repetition at high alt.
This is included as option now, to test, take the map_T.tga from the optional folder and REPLACE INTO the map folder.
And, I added a 2nd texture set as alternative:
This one is both a bit darker and more reddish, vivid.
First, IMO my textures may look sub optimal for very bright monitors, so I made these. Secondly, they have the benefit to be more close to the real landscape, check videos in first post.
The shots are without the changed tex colour, just for the high alt impression.
First screen unedited, in the other screens I guestimated how what I see on my monitor may look for a very bright monitor
That's also (varying monitors) why I supported the download with two different landlight.mat files.

2 shots of my personal version (I have a very dark monitor setting for my eyes) of the last tex repaint. No edits.
(http://s20.postimg.cc/g1uifjbgt/29_01_2014_4_18_28.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
(http://s20.postimg.cc/j9yzskxql/29_01_2014_4_18_34.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
Now the colours are as vivid as doable. At least on my system. Aim was to provide with this map many options to fit a variety of user's possible colour and brightness setups.
If there are more "dark monitor fetishists" around this forum, I can also share my personal thing as seperate note and folder.
-
Some shots of the last updated link. The optional and IMO better tex.
Now flying low is close to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCyR5yzj21g
Like I said, my personal version is even closer, but a tad brighter. If someone wants it, I include it as well.

Great photo, mate! :)

Hmmmm...
SAS~Tom2 - I may have found a bug.
The propeller seems to be missing from the aircraft in your screenshots.
pr0n
-
Lol Gorn, yep, all the new "total useless low drag Luftwaffe vs Warshaw pact planes" here. :D
Love the Mig-21s, best modded jet in IL-2 IMO.
-
...Love the Mig-21s...
Uh-huh.
I kinda' came to realise that... ;)
-
..lately I rather wished for a US counterpart. :D
F-5... :P
Anyway, '21s so far have the best jet pits with Freddy's F-86 / Mig-15 cockpits.

New Quick add-on mission for 4.12.
Since the AI tends to mess up TO taxiing, this is for players mostly.
Flight ally No 3 (all RedQuicks here) will most prolly ignore the correct taxi route and crash. Of course with the New visual mod, you can take its position...at an offset base position, close to the hangar tents.
Fliht ally No 1 might do a chicken dance ;D and then takeoff well.
(http://s20.postimg.cc/kue0vbqdp/il2fb_2014_07_06_19_35_41_18.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
Flight ally No 2 will simply takeoff.
And this is the player, made for single plane. Takeoff aka taxi start posit inside one of the building groups I made after real present footage:

https://www.mediafire.com/download/14k6hoyh9s31vg3/Ag_Uf_Ifni3.rar
So.....in essence:
This upload, to be extracted into Missions/QuickQMBPro, has two more missions not in the previous map download:
Ag_Uf_Ifni3RedBridge00.mis
Takes off in the building complex taxiing
Ag_Uf_Ifni3RedBridge01.mis
Same, but with some of these objects:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37743.0.html
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,41421.0.html
Ag_Uf_Ifni3RedNone01.mis
Mission from map download, water takeoff for water planes
Ag_Uf_Ifni3RedScramble01.mis
Same, but takeoff at jet base Guelmim
Rest already in previous page map download links..last reply with download links. ;)
Any update will be with more of max_thehitman's objects, but rather for the other Quicks I worked on, the Woodlark RedScramble missions.

Here is a version I found so appealing over the past year or at least this summer (lol) that it would be almost bad manner to not upload it:
It is the agracier Sidi Ifni map (with Uufflakke's villages of course) with agracier's default texture colours but the static ini changes I made for the "modern day" Ifni capital version and the fake scrub forest added, the latter to my taste fits nice. While the modified reddish or very reddish textures in this thread are close to what I saw both on photos and videos for Sidi Ifni, the overall look of the default textures is a very pleasant alternative. And fits to nothern parts of Morrocco or of this map to be precise well.
Here is the original thread, my favourite IL-2 map, at least for deserts:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=12129.0
And here the link to the above mentioned version.

Install:
If you have already the high resolution version of the _Tex/Trees Palmtrees by SAS~Boomer, back those up or skip the contained trees in _Tex/Trees here of the mod.
Put the mapmods folder inside your #SAS/Mods whatever named mods container. ALlow to overwrite.
You may also definately backup:
_Tex/CloudShadows.mat
and
_Tex/LandLight.mat
As well as CloudsNoise.tga.
The recommended weather here is fair/hazy, recommended daytime late afternoon. I did not tune down the textures with darker landlight mat files, just do what is good recommendation for 90% of all desert maps: Do fly at earlier morn/erly morn and late afternoon from 16.00 to 18.15.

PS
WRT the last map upload in page 2, reply 16, important is the folder "ag_ifni3 landlight mat options", as nothing changes the appearance of texture lighting more than the landlight.mat file, apart its colouring. For these very reddish textures it is important.
Also, for the previous upload of the reddish version, the map_T.tga under the options download folder was vitally important. ;)
These are the things I wanted to say about the last "official" change of this map.
