For those who have missed the High Rez Trees in the past here they are again.
High Rez Trees spring summer autumn winter
https://www.mediafire.com/download/ymirvem6vspbwet/HighRezTrees%2BBackUp.rar (https://www.mediafire.com/download/ymirvem6vspbwet/HighRezTrees%2BBackUp.rar)
High Rez MTO and Desert Trees
https://www.mediafire.com/download/6wgtt54k2301tp3/HighRezMTO-DesertTrees%2BBackUp.rar
Take in account the high rez textures only work in conjunction with Carsmaster's 'High Resolution / True Color Textures Mod' installed. And only in 4.09, 4.10, 4.12.
Having issues with his mod ask over there (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=33239.0 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=33239.0)), having issues with my tree mod ask here.
So if you got the high rez mod up and running installing these trees is piece of cake. Just drop the extracted files from the 'Trees' folder in your Modded Install/#DBW(or Mods folder)/MapMods/Maps/_Tex/Trees.
Original default 512x512 trees are included in the download as a back up.
This is what you will seen then on most maps:

Great. Wonderful!
Many thanks Uufflakke! :)
-
Thank you very much Uufflakke
-
OH! Your killing me with all these lovely trees. The beauty in them is perfect. 8)
Thank you once again!
BTW - Are these new re-paints or the ones you posted a few weeks back?
I got the last set you posted before.
I don't want to overwrite anything that might mess up the good looking trees.

As far as I know I haven't posted any repaint recently.
These are the ones I posted more than a year ago I guess.
But yeah, time flies when having fun. ;D
-
Thank you, very nice trees.
-
Hey Uufflakke, these trees are kick ass. But how do you get so many? I know about the trees=3 in the config but you seem to have way more!

Maybe the way I made the screenshots. From a low point of view you don't see the open space between the trees that are further away.
Or it has to do with the t.tree file in the texture folder of that particular map. It is a mapmodder thingie but by using that kind of files you can assign the exact location where and how many trees you want to show up on a map.
Which makes these so called random trees less random. :D

WOOOW! Fantastic work!! Thank you!! DOWNLOADING!!!
-
Man, it does really look like you have a little forest there! :P Thanks for the info!

Hi guys,
As I posted in another thread, I just got back to playing Il-2 after a long time, had to relearn how to put in mods all over again.
I upgraded to 4.10.1 and DBW 1.71, and only have a few mods, mainly because I'm quite happy with improving mainly two things, sounds, terrain visuals and simply as possible.
Anyway, I got Carmaster's water mod and the High-Res Textures mod working (tested with the sample Spit skins), but as soon as I try to put in the High-res trees mod, I get a map loading error, no map will load. I put the files in the mapmod/maps/_tex/trees folder as indicated.
Any suggestion on the issue? Here is my config :

FroggyCanuck, can you open (or try to open) the map in the Full Mission B. and hit shift + Tab simultaneously. The last 20 lines of the appearing white overlay may give an additional clue.
TBH I do not know if the logfile has less map specific info.
And also I assume this is rather a DII issue than a map issue.
The high res trees miss one file (some of them) which is with the usual 3 tga file set of trees, but work nevertheless, never understood why. :D
If you have the latest high resolution true colour mod, try to enable the "easy DII" option and see if that works, also make sure to have the correct version of the High Res mod for your game version.
You have 4.10 aka DBW and need the 4.10 version.
Good Luck!
-
PS:
From the download
https://www.mediafire.com/download/of0h3g3b39wggpy/High_Resolution_True_Color_Textures_v1.0.zip
The JSGME option I related to is called:
"High Resolution Texture DIIs 'light' "
Maybe it is a system overload, the config.ini looks ok on a first glance.
-
Hi Tom, many thanks for the response!
When I tried to load the map in FMB and press (Shift+tab) as you suggest, it gave me some java errors (could not read them or copy) in the loading sequence, then a continuous message saying : "Cannot set vpVAProgram!!!". I tried loading another map (Alps) and same thing. No maps will load the high-res trees for me.
I should mention that the low-res trees work.
So it may indeed by a dll issue. I try some other configurations and the dll "light" version and report back.
-
Ok, so I made some further tests. Here is what I know :
1. The High Resolution Textures mod works fine for me, both the standard dlls and the "light" dlls. I used the sample Spitfire skins and evrything was ok.
2. The low resolution trees work.
3. The high-resolution trees do not work. As soon as I put the files in the mapmods/maps/_tex/trees folder as indicated, the game launches, but no map will load.
So I'm a bit at a loss to explain what is going on in the process for the High-res mod not to recognize the high-res trees. No biggie, I can still use the low-res ones and good skins if need be.
-
@SAS~Tom2:
Trees usually consists of 3 files: one for the trunk and two for the leaves + branches. The file without the 'TL' at the end is for Excellent settings. With the 'TL' is for Perfect settings.
Having Excellent settings and the High Rez Mod is a bit contradictive in my opinion. Therefor I stopped creating the file for Excellent settings.
@FroggyCanuck:
I see in the log file that you have a tree texture loading problem: INTERNAL ERROR: LoadTextureFromTga('MAPS/_Tex/Trees\AlteredBush8awTL.tga')
Are your settings Excellent perhaps? If so the trees won't show up.
Try Perfect settings.
If that won't solve the issue I'm afraid I can not help you out.

Thanks for the response Uufflakke! No worries. I'll try to see if I haven't missed out on some settings to "perfect". If it doesn't work, I still have the HD skins working and a bunch of other goodies with DBW, so I'll have a blast anyways!
Cheers.

Hi guys,
I seem to have found the problem. Since the high-res mod seemed to be working for me, I checked some config file settings since mine had been modified quite a bit. I put in a default version and as soon as I put "HardwareShaders=1", the maps would not load. "HardwareShaders=0" and everything works fine (or seems to).
This might sound like a totally idiotic question, but isn't "HardwareShaders=1" required for perfect mode and for me to see the trees?
This is edited my log, not even sure the high-res trees loaded.

Hi Uufflakke,
I took a look at your conf.ini settings and it appears you are using texture compression (TexCompress=2) which is rather surprising since your PC and especially your Graphics Card (GTX 760 2GB) allows you much better settings (no texture compression) ...
Here are my own settings with an old GC (GTX 260), may be you should try them ... ;)

I have my new system since April but haven't played IL2 since then. Just copied the game from XP to Windows 8 and too lazy to adjust the conf.ini. :D
But thanks, I will have a look what the difference is with your settings.

+1, flying with Tex compress=compromise at best. Especially for a man who flies high res stuff. ;)

FroggyCanuck:
Yes, it seems indeed your problem is counter intuitive: You see the trees with Hardwaresh.=1 and can't see with the same value/setting at 0.
This is my conf.ini, only thing you need to do is make the three values labelled "NV"=1 for an NVidia card.

Hi guys, many thanks for all your responses and help!
I'll try to play around with the config settings a bit more to see if that doesn't work. I can see high-res skins and hi-red textures for the maps, so it's definitely a config issue rather than a high-res mod issue.
If I can't get it to work, well no biggie, I'm spending too much time as is trying to look at trees when I should be shooting down enemy planes! :P
-
Fired up up the HD Mod and your Trees in light mode, looks excellent.
No more cubic trees. Great immersion.
Thanks a bunch for this tarte superb
-
I have the exact same problem as Froggy: all maps fail when the tree textures are being loaded. Like froggy, I can load maps if HardwareShaders=0, but it makes everything in the game look shitty (flat water, low-res object textures, etc). Is anyone besides Froggy and myself having similar issues with these trees?

I'm beginning to think I'm not doing something right with Uufflakke's mods...
So far, I've been unable to load ANY maps that feature Uufflakke's mods:
- High-res trees
- High-res winter textures and the 3 maps provided : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,40446.0.html
- Retextured Crete in high-res: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,41447.0.html
Yet I can run the high-res mod, no problem, I see 2048 skins (sample and dowloaded), and am putting the folders in the right place... And when I try to load the problematic map in FMB, I get a CTD.
I am at a loss here.
I seem to have the same problem as another Spooky here : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,41447.48.html

Then I am 100% sure you can not load the other high rez map by Bee:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,39938.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,39938.0.html)
The problem has definately to do with the high resolution mod itself and not with my Crete map or the 2048 trees. Loading 2048 skins doesn't mean automatically you can load high rez maps too.
Sometimes this issue occurs. Don't ask me how come.
Better is to read Carsmaster's thread and/or ask over there:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33239.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33239.0.html)
You will not be the first one who found the solution in Carsmaster's thread. ;)

Repeat...try the easy DII alternative of the high res mod!!
Bet my ass that is it.

Thanks UUfflakke, I'll try to reread that thread and maybe try something else. I really want your stuff to work, it looks great!

Tried it before the first time around, no dice. You just loss your ass Tom! ;D
I know another user had success using a mishmash of Dlls from the high-res stuff and the "light" one. Maybe I'll try that.

Update : You are right Uufflake, I cannot load Bee's Rabaul 1944 map. Worse yet, it doesn't even show up in the QMB. In FMB, I get the following load error:

I'll post something in the high-res mod thread since it deals probably with that.

I had almost the same problem and after several unsuccssesful attempts to install this mod i decided to solve it with a very practical way. I simply changed the resolution of the TGA images of the << Trees >> file from 2048 to 1024 and all works fine. Even in 1024 the superb Uufflakke's images are far better than the 512 stoke ones. You can do the same thing with Crete or Rabaul map. In Crete map Find the << Summer 2048 >> file located in Maps mod / maps / -Tex / land and change the resolution of the TGA images to 1024. In Rabaul map find the file << Rabaul >> located in Maps mod / maps / -Tex and do the same. An important note. In all these files you can also find TGA images with resolution lower than 1024. Don't change them. In my opinion the biggest problem in Il 2 graphics is not the resolution of the objects but the very short distance ( about 5 kl ) of << appearing >> the mass ground objects like cities , villages, etc. and the cockpit << shadings >>. If you have fly with << cliffs of Dover >>, << War thunder >> or the newest << Battle of Stalingrad >> you can see this crucial difference. I wonder if we can improve this graphic point in our beloved Il 2 due to the old graphic engine. Anyway this grate flight simulator ( probably the greatest WWII simulator up to now ) stays on top after more than 10 years thanks to all modders. Good flights to all !

@ikaros flight:
9 out of 10 members who used to have troubles with loading High Rez maps/trees etc. -but no problem at all with loading High Rez skins- found the solution in the High Resolution/True Colour Texture Mod (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33239.0.html (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,33239.0.html)).
About the 'appearing of mass ground objects at very short distance' it is a very well known issue in IL2, as known as the pop up effect. It is possible to eliminate it but then the LOD (Level Of Detail) of each and every object (thousands already) needs be reworked. I won't see someone around here doing that. The higher the amount of LODs the more impact on framerate though. So when flying over a densily populated city it may become a slideshow on (less than) average systems.

I can send the files with Wetransfer.com. If that site is allowed in China.
If you PM me your e-mail address I will upload the files to Wetransfer.com and send it to you.

When I'm in the game menu for hardware setup the "perfect" option is blanked out so I can't click on it.
Does this have to do with config file setup or the mod has not loaded properly?

Not related to the mod. You need to switch from DirectX to OpenGL in Hardware Setup/Video Modes to get to Perfect.

Awesome, thanks for the info.
