Title: Choctaw and Wessex
Post by: gio963tto on June 13, 2014, 05:23:49 AM
The sikorsky S58/H34/Wessex.

One of the most popular helicopters of 60s  used in Vietnam from SVAF and marines in the Arab-Israeli conflicts, to get to the Falklands-Malvinas conflict, in the boarded version was among the first anti-submarine helicopters used by many nations .

Most of the choppers will be a challenge for awhile except for the Hind and the upcoming Cobra. You must go easy on the throttle and give it a little forward stick the second you take off. This one I also found to be pretty difficult because it's based on the Sikorsky which is extremely finicky. Basically, take it slow on all the controls. Rarely should you have to go to full 100% throttle.

Thank you very much, indeed.
But the problem persists in autopilot mode, and with AI piloted planes. The problem is obviously with FM, which needs fine tuning for these modes.

Hey, thank you very much!
They all fly well (4.10 DBW), and can shake you into oblivion if operator is careless.

I felt free to make a CH34 basic template http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1986 ,
hope authors of the original skin will approve.

-be sure you dont apply too much power; between 50-60% you can do almost all of it

Thx!

Are they 4.10 only, or will they work in 4.12 ?

Very nice addition, thank you.

However I require some assistance...

I am new to this. Just installed TFM412 and started to look for additional aircraft I could add to TFM. My first choice is this little package.

I have downloaded it and opened readme to find these instructions:

INI air lines:

CH-34_Choctaw            air.Sikorsky_CH34 1            NOINFO  usa01 SUMMER
SH-34_Seabat             air.Sikorsky_SH34 1            NOINFO  usa01 SUMMER

Wessex-HAR3              air.Wessex_HAR3 1              NOINFO  usa01 SUMMER
Wessex-HU5               air.Wessex_HU5 1               NOINFO  usa01 SUMMER

and

Put the folders call "CH-34 Wessex  Helicopter Pack" in your installation and add the Helo readme air.ini. lines in Air.ini.

for skin  used a new folders named  :Sikorsky-CH34(Multi1) for Sikorsky-CH34(Multi1)
                                     Sikorsky-SH34(Multi1) for Sikorsky-SH34(Multi1)
                           WessexHAR3(Multi1)    for WessexHAR3(Multi1)
                                WessexHU5(Multi1)     for WessexHU5(Multi1)

i searched my TFM installation for air.ini and found quite a handful of those in different locations... Would someone be so kind to guide me through this? I understand each additional aircraft package has same rules applicable, so truly, one time guidance would do the trick forever.

apologies, instructions are completely unclear to me...

Thanks for helping.

its this simple: your lines that are supposed to go into air.ini, can be located in this case at #SAS/STD/com.
if you want skin folders, then just make folders named with those names into paintschemes/skins

Sorry to ask, but.....how should we operate so that the torpedo works, not just showing me broken into water message? Speed or Altitude?
Again THX very much for these birds :)

They fill an important place, and I think they are great additions! I often arrange my missions in such a way that I can have one or two of these flying along with my RN fleets! They are awesome!

Flying these, or the two early Sikorsky birds, you can have lots of fun. Certainly these are not as fast as the Huey, and should not be compared to it, but there are dozens of mission possibilities here! Not to mention they look cool!

Hello,

I've ran into some problems trying to install this mod on 4.12 + JetWar + a few aircraft and helicopter mods.

The game crashes at 60 after installing the mod.

Now, what bothers me is that this CTD is persisting even after I have uninstalled the mod and removed its air.ini entries...

Does anyone have a clue on what's going on ?
I'll see if I have time tomorrow to backup my game and uninstall all mods, then check everything.

I am running the latest SAS Modact, by the way. (Or was it UltraPack ? Damnit, I can't remember)

see your log, 60% crash happens due to an faulty .ini line, there should read what is cause of crash :)

Ok.
Turns out I was using SAS MODACT 3.5.

I've checked the logs, it seems to have a reccuring error about a missing "ERA" class, but I don't really know what that means. Here it is in its entirety... Turns out it exceeds the limit and I can't add attachments. I'll put only the errors :

Love this old banger, we flew them on 845 Sqn off HMS Hermes.

Sadly I cannot keep this thing stable at all, even in AI it just loops the loop a few times, turns turtle and crashes.  Is there an AI mod that will make this work in 4.101M ?
