This is the Pack I'm currently using. It is composed of:

     JetWar 1.3
SAS Engine MOD 2.7 for v4.12.2
     SAS ModAct 5.30

(up to this point nothing too brillant, but all of this is over:)
     HSFX7.02
     DBW1.71

     Everything working on v4.12.2 platform

This makes available all of the planes (I haven't made a 100% test, but the ones I tried worked) that were in HSFX7 and those in DBW1.71, the Jets of the JetWar pack, plus obviously the objects, maps, etc., etc.

We have been with the help of some users reining it. Some more work must be done. It has been around for a long time, but previously I haven´t never released it because there was quite complicated to make a single way of distributing it. In fact it never was public before due to that limitation. But now, I consider that the TotalMODder V3 and especially the EasyPack I created for it, is the best condition ever to be easily deployed:

Go to the TotalMODder V3 EasyPack, from here (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42295.0.html)

For the SFS files of the contents of such a big pack, there isn't yet a clean and compact compilation, so you have to use the ones that used to come with the packs unified by this pre-DBW2. If you don't have any of this, you should download it before, because you will need it:

SAS ModAct 5.30:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37662.0.html

JetWar 1.33:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15649.0.html

HSFX 7.02:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37309.0.html

DBW 1.71:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21514.0.html

The trick to make all these contents to load without main conflicts was this: use my MultiRC approach to load separated .rcs for DBW1.71 and HSFX7 contents. In the 00_PAL-CmdMultiRC MOD folder you will find a .rc ending at:

Code: [Select]
### By PAL, Execute Extra Batch of .rcs ###
@load com.maddox.rts.cmd.CmdSFSScriptLoad NAME sfsscriptload \
HELP sfsscriptload [RUN <batch file>]
@sfsscriptload RUN PACK-DBW171.rc
@sfsscriptload RUN PACK-HSFX7.rc
@sfsscriptload RUN MODs.rc

### By Storebror, Auto Mount SFSs ###
@load com.maddox.rts.cmd.CmdSFSAutoMount NAME sfsautomount \
HELP sfsautomount [MOUNT <folder name>] [UNMOUNT <folder name>]
#@sfsautomount MOUNT SFS_AUTO

I think it will be self explanatory. Because the order of the SFSs is last one dominates, this list is inverse to the one of what this Pack includes. In the TotalMODder V3 Easy Pack, all of this is pre-configured, so you don't have to worry about anything.

EDIT: You require (because this is essentially the game up to SAS ModAct 5.30) the sas_basic_50.sfs file in the root of your game. If not it won't work.

I had to test several combinations of what classes to use (coming from where, if untouched or adapted by me to make them compatible) so the v4.12.2 would launch.

And for my taste it works quite well, tidy and fast.

Later I will add some Print Screens, etc.

Regards,
                   Pablo

Thank you very much for all your efforts Pablo, "father of DBW 2" :)
Chaps, be careful with our little child DBW2, it's young and needs all tenderness you can offer.

People,
for those who have Beta Tested this pack:

-The current version delivered with the TM3 EasyPack is based in the plain direct installation of JetWar, HSFX7 and DBW1.71. Most of the .SFSs in the Root Folder of the game and the rest in DBW_SAS Folder.

-If you made the grouping I originally proposed (and still recommended) moving the .SFSs respectively to SFS_MODs, SFS_HSFX7 and SFS_DBW Folders, this pack will not work straight for you, because it tries to load the files from the original locations.

But I have included .rc versions for any of the possible locations. Everything is in their original (or whatever jsgmemods folder you adopted):

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\jsgmemods\Activators-PreDBW2\#SAS\00_PAL-CmdMultiRC

The (AlternativeLocation) ones point to my 3 defined Folders and the (OriginalLocation) ones point to the Root, etc. The default delivered are the "OriginalLocation" .rcs If you want to use the other ones, just copy them over the non () .rc files.

(http://s13.postimg.cc/bojh2uw1j/PAL_Cmd_Multi_RC.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

In fact this has a correspondence with all the other packs too. DBW and HSFX7 have equivalent alternative files to easily point the loading wherever it corresponds.

Regards,
                         Pablo

Hurra, thanks!!!

But by the way, stupid technical questions to make some things clear please (I'm not sure after reading ReadMe)?
So to make this super pack working I must:

1. install clean 4.12.2 version;
2. then on the top of it install packs SAS ModAct 5.30, JetWar 1.33, HSFX 7.02, DBW 1.71.;
3. and finally start TotalModder and choose profile pre-DBW2.

I'm asking, because it's my first time with TotalModder  :-[ so I don't wanna make something stupid at beginning...

Greetings,
ls

EDIT: Many thanks, Malone !!!

you don't install the packs HSFX, DBW - you only need their SFS files, placed into the correct folders

As Malone said,
you only need the .SFS files delivered wih them.

But in the other hande: you were right Is. One way of getting all these together if you didn't have it before is:

0-Having the Game at 4.12.2 version.
1-Installing Full DBW 1.71 (Read details in its thread. It includes UP3RC4). (No matter it is theorically oriented to game v4.10.1)
2-Install JetWar 1.33
3-Install HSFX7 over all previous
4-Install SAS ModAct5.30 over all previous.

You are going to get ALL the SFS files required. Some more stuff (posible MODs in jsgmemods, etc.), but the important thing is that you get the SFSs.

With that you can actívate the Pre-DBW2 Profile in TotalMODder EasyPack.

JetWar is required, as specified in the ReadMe. The preDBW2 will have all the Jets, so you require the two .SFSs delivered with the JetWar pack.

Is, there is no difference in the SFSs between HSFX7 , 7.01 and 7.02. The difference is only in the classes and in the Easy Pack all of them are distributed. So, if you have the fb_hfx*.sfs files in the root you are done.

EDITED: There are small differences between HSFX7.0, 7.01 and 7.02. These changes include classes AND SFS Files. Please be sure you have the latest update got with the AutoUpdater.

OK, one more question, I copied all sfs files in my new PRE-DBW2 installation and started TotalModder. After I defined paths of folders I've activated profile and launched Il-2. But here problem - game stops loading at 5%. So my question is: sfs files should be put straight in root directory of Il-2, or (like I did) in original folders (for example SAS_DBW for DBW, or SFS_AUTO for JetWar sfs files)?

Is, the answer is: some yes and some not. The 5% stops are always SFS mounting problems. Open your log.lst (you can use TotalMODder itself for this) and there it will say. If you want post the dump of your log here (as code). But the most probable is some missing or misplaced file.

Pablo, thank you for your work ... I have a question for you, I can not install a mod 00_PAL MissionProCombo v4.12 ... tried four options, but

first option in the picture 1 - created SFS- file (posted it in the root folder of il-2 and in the folder jsgmemods)
 (http://s019.radikal.ru/i643/1408/50/ea2c5ce40b22t.jpg) (http://radikal.ru/fp/8cb63d7268db40fdb608f72e73b559a4)

the second option in the picture 2
 (http://s017.radikal.ru/i403/1408/8e/3cfdf7f813b7t.jpg) (http://radikal.ru/fp/81e6f484f5a14db1b88d429c02a48fee)

the third option in the picture 3 - mod unpacked
 (http://s018.radikal.ru/i524/1408/d3/bf3eec8b9470t.jpg) (http://radikal.ru/fp/87896338410945ecb22d39b19d2cdda7)

but neither one did not help - picture 4

tell me what I'm doing wrong (sorry for my english)

leopard,
you have to load EVERYTHING ON TOP! The logic is that you are OVERWRITTING (by precedence) the loading of other things (in this case pre-DBW2 contents).

Just take a look at what I wrote in the documentation:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42295.msg475892.html#msg475892

It is very clear. And the MODs which include MODding of stock core clases (MissionProCombo does) will not work packed in SFS. They have to be in Folder standard format.

                        Pablo

Thanks Pablo, the answer is no for JetWar sfs files  :).
After moving them from SFS_AUTO folder to root folder everything seems to be OK!!!

Greetings,
ls

EDIT:

PreDBW2 profile works fine, there are only some little problems in FMB with textures on German Opel Blitz trucks (picture below), some maps don't load (ex. ag_bulgaria, balaton), and some stationary ships don't appear in FMB (for example Paddle Steamer).
In Pure HSXF profile German Opel Blitz trucks are displayed properly, so it must be a conflict between HSFX & DBW mods....

Greetings,
ls

Is, please, could you post your findings here as instructed:

Yes Cloyd,
I have made a v4.12.2 DBW1916 a long time ago. In fact I didn't take it into acount when I have created the EasyPack, but I'm going to add it and publish a new version.

While that is true, it has surprisingly little relevance to DBW2, which was itself delayed because of an incoming patch. Now that it has caught up to 4.12, 4.13 is coming out and maybe we should see if compatibility issues wouldn't stop the release from taking advantage of new features.

Thanks,
I've installed, everything is working but some questions:

1. What exactly does included fix of 3do vehicles by WindWpn? - I can't see any difference with previous version, especially still exists bug with German Opel Blitz Truck (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42337.msg476350.html#msg476350 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42337.msg476350.html#msg476350)).

2. In DBW 1916 profile is there changed folder structure? I'm asking because there is 5% CTD, and after looking in log.lst it seems that game is searching for sfs files in another folders than in a case of PRE-DBW2 profile....

Greetings,
ls

Yes Is,
it is explained. Is much better to use a different folder (for exmple jsgmemods1916v3 or whatever) to not mix the MAAAANY MODs folders of the DBW1916. Then you have to copy there (or viceversa) everything what is in the jsgmemods1916v3 of the .rar of the EasyPack1.2 and last but not least, you have to establish the folders (Game and MODding one) to the game root and to the whatever jsjmemods1916v3 you have.

If you have a 5%CTD it is an SFS problem (a not found one). Just check the log.lst and it will display clearly which one failed and from where wanted to be loaded. COnfirm you have it in the corresponding place.

  Regards,
                            Pablo

Then the profile show recognize all the folders of DBW1916 and then run.

And regarding the vehicles, if you check the .SFS file inside the Activators-PreDBW2-Fixes, it has inside a 3do folder with many fixes. You should check it by yourself. It was preapared by WindWpn, I really don't know if it was supposed to solve everything or not.

Pablo,

First, let me say thanks again! I got DBW1916 working with your new upload and I'm a happy man.

Like ls, I was getting a 5% CTD when loading the the 1916 profile. Most of the missing SFS files were in my SAS_DBW folder, copied from my DBW410 install, not in the required SFS_DBW folder. The other missing files I had mistakenly put in the root folder. All sorted now, mostly by just changing the folder name.

Thanks,
Cloyd

You are right!

Yes, I mixed some different sources in the .rcs

Now I have uploaded a new version of the pack, with everything verified for startup.

It includes latest versions of MissionProCombo and VisualMOD to easily activate them.

Regarding SFS files. It is a mess, I hope soon we could repack them.

For the while, the required lists (in original and alternative grouped locations) are these below. This is included in the EasyPack Documentation directory too.

  Regards,
                            Pablo

And regarding the vehicles, if you check the .SFS file inside the Activators-PreDBW2-Fixes, it has inside a 3do folder with many fixes. You should check it by yourself. It was preapared by WindWpn, I really don't know if it was supposed to solve everything or not.

Thanks Pablo, I've checked it. Exactly, there are fixes for some other vehicles.
Meanwhile, I discovered way to get back German trucks from DBW (or UP), post is here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42337.msg477544.html#msg477544 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42337.msg477544.html#msg477544).
In my setup it works... :)

Hi Pablo

Thank you very much for all your work with DBW2 and the TotalMODder!

I've now downloaded HSFX 7.0 and I also found and downloaded the update HSFX 7.01.
There are actually a few sfs files in the 7.01 update:
fb_hfxbeta.sfs
fb_hfxcontrol.sfs
fb_hfx3do24.sfs (2 different versions, one is for expert mode)

The 7.01 sfs files are all dated November 6,  2013.

Are you sure there are no sfs files in the 7.02 update?
I haven't been able to find any download for it, only the auto updater which I haven't tried yet.

Cheers

Is, there is no difference in the SFSs between HSFX7 , 7.01 and 7.02. The difference is only in the classes and in the Easy Pack all of them are distributed. So, if you have the fb_hfx*.sfs files in the root you are done.

No,
you are right. I will correct that post. I was not aware of those changes.

Now I'm going to update my original post. Perhaps you can edit and remove my quote so other people don't get confused by it.

  Thanks,

Hello benitomuso and von Oben,
in my recognition only new HSFX sfs file, which came with 7.02 update is fb_hfxmaps06.sfs (everything else was in 7.0 and in 7.01).
I' ve checked it trying to install PRE-DBW2 without 7.02 update (cause Autouopdater wasn't working for few days).
EDIT: Sorry, and fb_hfxbeta.sfs was modified by 7.02 update (it is bigger now).
Greetings,
ls

If I already have TFM-412 The Next Level then what do I do to install DBW-2?

my recommendation - a separate install.
TFM 412 and DBW 2 contain much of the same stuff, so there's little point in trying to get these to work as one.
it's not impossible, but will require some pretty advanced modding knowledge, so certainly it's not something we are going to start advising people to do.

The fact is that if we don't refine this pack we will never have a DBW2 (not pre-).

So collaboration is recommended and suggested.

Unsure to place here or in bug forum but I come across a problem with frame rates.  I followed the install process as outlined above, opened IL-2 Total MODder V3 and configured "preDBW2-Pure" with the following MODs activated:

"00_PAL-MissionProCombo-v4122"
"Activators-PreDBW2-"
"Activators-PreDBW-Fixes"
"Activators-4122Classes"

These appeared as the default requirements for PreDBW.  The game starts without any problems,  however once I hit approximately the 2,000th frame of game play, my FPS drops from 60 FPS to 1 or 0 FPS.  It is as if I hit a wall.  I have tested this with single missions with different maps and aircraft and the results are the same.  The last portion of my log.file show the following:

ActorException: Interpolators destroying in invoked method 'tick'

I started with a clean IL-2 1946 4.07, used SAS Il-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch to bring it up to ver. 4.12.2. Then install SAS UP3 DBW F'nBigSuperPack to install DBW 1.71; followed by Jetwar 13 & Jetwar v133 Hotfix.  Next installed HSFX 7.0 and used its auto updater to bring it up to 7.02. Next I installed MODAct 5.3 then total MODder using TM3-EasyPack.

Appreciate assistance with identifying what is causing the frame rate stall.  Thank you

Hi Pablo, thanks for your stuff, it's the first time I use TotalModder but it's perfect for Il2.

I had a big issue running pre-DBW because in the PACK-DBW171.rc there is a file I don't have it's sasup_decals_02.sfs

It is not clear what could be the problem.

Something easy to try to clarify the situation: chek if with SAS ModAct 5.30 happens the same or not. If you experience the same, something on your installation or essential IL-2 download is not correct.

The log you posted is a very general message and it is impossible to identify anything.

Somewhere in the whole download of the DBW1.71 there is such a file. Theorically it goes in the Root Game Folder.

It is small enough, so here it goes.

Thanks Pablo,  I agree it is vague but that is all I have to go with hence my request for help. I'm re-installing everything in hopes there was a error somewhere, then I will try strictly using  MODact 5.3.

Re-install everything but the results are the same.  FPS begins at 70 - 80 fps than about a minute later, it drops to 1 or 0 fps.  Nothing in log file that I can see that causes this issue. Game freezes.

Attempted using MODACT 5.3 only, it offered the following options:
"Stock Game" - loaded but reverted to Il-2 ver. 10.0.1
"Classic Mod Game" - attempted to use but did not load
"SAS Mod Act" - attempted to use but did not load
"Ultrapack 3 or later" - attempted to use but did not load
"Dark Blue World" - loaded in ver. 1.7 configuration and Il-2 ver 4.10.1
"Dark Blue World 1916" - loaded in ver 1.6 configuration

Using MODding V3 resulted in the same results with the following differences:
"MA530-Pure" - Aircraft explode on runway at beginning of missions
"HSFX7-Pure" - Aircraft explode on runway at beginning of missions

It appears to me that there is a conflict with HSFX and DBW files but I am not smart enough to even begin to try to troubleshoot it.

If there is a question about the files I am using, I am using an original Il-2 1946 DVD (not steam version) and I do have HSFX 7.02 working as a separate game as well as IL-2 ver 4.12.2 with the "New Full Monty" as a separate game - separate folders for each. My games are not on the system drive.

Since I am the only one reporting this, it must be something I am doing wrong.  I will wait for your SFS pack so I do not install full games.

Thanks Pablo

Hi guys, I have a strange issue, I'd like to have the Ju388 and He177 flyable so I added the entire folder for Ju388 and the entire folder for He177 flyable you can found here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,38982.0.html

but both stay AI only

Tried in HSFX 7 and both crashed.
No one else tried to make this birds flyable?
When installing mods it's correct to use HSFX7 mods?

Thanks

Hi guys, first off, I just want to congratulate you at SAS for such awesome work. Keeping a sim old as IL-2 as fresh as ever is quite an amazing feat!

On to my situation : I'm an offline player and currently running DBW 1.71, which I modded using the the famous Stock 4.07m to DBW 1.71 SuperPack.

I'm really interested in eventually moving on to 4.12 and DBW2.

This being said, I know the base of modding and am able to add aircraft, map mods and other few tidbits, but nothing I can consider hardcore. I've never tried TotalModder (just JGSME) and reading through the threads am a bit overwhelmed at the process.

So stupid question of the day : Are there plans in the future undefined for another Superpack, let's say from 4.12 to DBW2? Sorry if this question has been answered, I'm not sure I'm understanding some of the discussions going on.

And I'm not being lazy, I just find as a casual modder these superpacks the best of both worlds. I get the goodies without negligeable chance of screwing anything up! So just curious.

Thanks!

Hi guys, I have some issue with the Mc202 and Mc205 cockpit, both have a ghost windshield, the same happen on all the Aircraft that use those pit.
I did a test with HSFX7 clean and there isn't any issue and preDBW2 clean (only the 3 activator's folder) and the ghost windshield is there.
I'm the only one with this issue?

I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I installed pre dbw as in the second page in the order suggested.
Lastly I installed the total modder but when I try to run it it stops at 0% and I get a blank small screen that pops up and then il2 freezes. Do I need still need to mess with the .rc files for DBW and HSXF as stated on the first page or do I leave alone?
I tried to see if I could generate a log but haven't been able to get it to work when the games freezes/crashes for some reason.
I couldn't find anything specific to my problems searching the thread both here and on the total modder thread. Any suggestions as to what I'm making a hash of?

Just want to know out of morbid curiosity.

When can we expect the OFFICIAL release of DBW-2?

Just curious because while this pre-DBW2 modpack seems vastly interesting to install, I don't want to go through the risk of getting one minor step wrong that could screw up my IL-2 install.

Just curious because while this pre-DBW2 modpack seems vastly interesting to install, I don't want to go through the risk of getting one minor step wrong that could screw up my IL-2 install.

The idea of the TotalMODder is just touching only two files (il2fb.exe and DInput.dll) and nothing else at all. So the risk is miminum, but rgarging your other question:

I considered (and have all the resources required, included a special SFS Packer I made myself) to generate a single non-redundant set of SFS files that could be the new "universal base" from where to grow.

While I was waiting for WhiskySierra to have his Maps + Objects huge pack ready, I started to talk with CharlieChap regarding compiling everything from HSFX7 together with former (or unexistent MODs only in DBW). Then he convinced me supporting it with several reasons what was the goal of making a newer and bigger pack. And he really made me give up my previous intention.

So for the while I would not make any compilation of anything new. Reviewing all the contents, packing them by cathegories, etc., is quite difficult and annoying, later you have to upload all the files somewhere which takes ages, and if something has to be corrected it is just frustrating.

If on the other hand the HSFX7 contents are basically wanted to be maintained separated and not resolved (the names) by his compiler / autor (CharileChap) everything is a no go Project.

Soon 4.13 versión will be available, making the DBW2 version 4.12 an incompatible pack...

In a wrap up: a lot of things that have discouraged me from the idea.

  Regards,
                        Pablo

***Not Found!*** in English sould be interpreted as the corresponding contents not being found, exactly that. If you look at the explanation of the TotalMODder (specially of the Easy Pack), it clearly states that for the DBW1916 to work, you need all the folders of the DBW1916. So what are you missing? All the folders of the DBW1916. They should be in the "MODs Source Folder:" indicated in your profile: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam...\jsgme..."

Hello,

I too followed the complete new install method PAL outlined on the 2nd page of the posting. I use C:\4.12.2 Pre DBW2 as my game directory, and loaded all the mods into it as outlined. I patched the HSFX up to 7.02 [tried using the Auto updater to bring it to 7.03, with no success - splash screen still reads 7.02] I set up the Activators for each pre-installed mod as outlined in the Read me.

When I click on the 'Launch Il-2 now" button in the TM-3 screen, for DBW, DBW 1916. and Pre DBW2, I see the corresponding splash screen, with 5% load for a few seconds, then closes. For HSFX7 and Mod Act 5.3, they apparently fully load as I see the initial screen, but upon clicking 'Fly', a 'Data file corrupt' message appears. Also, both of these have a message, "This is a 16 flight mission (v 4.10) at the bottom of the screen - would expect to see 4.12[?]. Selecting pure UP3.0 is nothing, though I did have the splash 5%/close at least once in my meanderings trying to get things started.

I removed the Il.2exe file from the game folder as directed, so seem to have followed all the directives laid out, but apparently not. As others have encountered some difficulties, hopefully PAL or a knowledgeable forum member can offer some trouble shooting advise for us to try.

Thanks much for any help getting Pre DBW2 to run.

People,
as you probable have seen in this forum, nobody of us is adivine, so without the log or some extra info it is absolutely impossible to know what the hell is going on in your installation.

In first term I bet that are misssing .SFS files, but I cannot be sure.

you don't install the packs HSFX, DBW - you only need their SFS files, placed into the correct folders
What is the correct folder you must put .sfs files ?

Hurra, thanks!!!

But by the way, stupid technical questions to make some things clear please (I'm not sure after reading ReadMe)?
So to make this super pack working I must:

1. install clean 4.12.2 version;
2. then on the top of it install packs SAS ModAct 5.30, JetWar 1.33, HSFX 7.02, DBW 1.71.;
3. and finally start TotalModder and choose profile pre-DBW2.

I'm asking, because it's my first time with TotalModder  :-[ so I don't wanna make something stupid at beginning...

Greetings,
ls

Regards,
                       Pablo
And I did and respect all these instructions.  If someone can't help me to find where is the problem, please just tell me if it's the good instructions.
I'll be glad if you can help me/us

Hi benji

The instructions you quoted are accurate.  :)

Here's what I did.

I had 4.10 and UP3+DBW 1.71 already installed so I updated to 4.12.2.
Installed JetWar 1.33 to a temp folder.
Installed HSFX7 to the same temp folder.
Installed ModAct5.30 to the same temp folder.
Copied all the sfs files from the temp folder to my IL-2 4.12.2 folder.

But I had to move some sfs files, see my post here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42295.24.html

Quote from my post:

UP3: my sasup_decals_01.sfs was in the SAS_DBW folder.
From PACK-UP3(OriginalLocation).rc says:
@sfs MOUNT sasup_decals_01.sfs

The Jet war sfs I had to place in the SAS_SFS folder.

Mods.rc (from PreDBW2) says:
@sfs MOUNT SAS_SFS/sasamt_jetwar_01.sfs
@sfs MOUNT SAS_SFS/sasamt_jetwar_02.sfs

Good luck!  :)

Hoo ! Big thanks for all these informations !

What is the temp folder ? Is it the root folder of il-2 ?

In my case, I just installed hsfx 7.03, jetware 1.33, up 3 RC4, dbw 1.71 and sas modact 5.3 but I didn't move any .sfs files or others so I will try tomorrow evening and I'll let you know
Thank you to take your free time for me, I really appreciated

It's in the second page of this topic. It's wrong instructions?

Well, I have had some success, but still not there. I did not load UP3 as I misunderstood from the page 2 instructions that DBW 1.71 had the UP3.0 included, but I now believe that it only included the R4 update for UP3 [?]

I examined my game folder for my DBW 4.10 load and saw that a only a handful of the sfs files had been loaded in my new Pre-DBW2 4.12 folder, so I copied and pasted them from the former into the latter. I was then able to successfully activate the Pure DBW 1.71 selection, seems to be working. I will download the DBW 1916 2.1 update sometime later and expect that will work as it's based on the above.

Pure UP3.0 would not start at all, no log file generated; I suspect this is due to my not installing it before DBW 1.71 at the beginning of the group install, but very much don't know. As I stated above, I copied all the UP sfs files into the game folder, which resulted in DBW 1.71 working, but not Pure UP3.0

However, no love with HSFX or ModAct 5.3. I think I had a corrupt download of ModAct 5.3, as I can only see a few sfs files, as I found with the UP3.0 missing sfs above, and no aircraft sfs files at all, so I will try again. Here are the error references for my attempts with HSFX and Mod Act 5.0:

I explained in a post in the DBW thread question re my being unable to participate much at all these past 5 years, and not really that expert before that. Please show me how to easily access a list only as you requested from the game folder, thanks

  Regards,
                        Pablo

Does this mean DBW2 is dead in the water?

Aviar

CFM is called to be what is going to make all the rest unnecessary.

Monty is performing a great job on organizing and cleaning his Full Monty pack into a compressed, very robust and stable pack.

It exceeds the contents and the features of pre-DBW2, and he is more dynamic than what we achieved here.

So no regrets from my part, I have deceided to catch that other train going by the parallel track.

I'm adapting the DBW1916 to work over CFM, so nobody would miss anything of the pre-DBW2.

From my point of view I seriously encourage everybody to adapt this new standard by Monty, you will not miss anything.

Thanks much for the reply with detailed instructions. It turns out that was mistaken, Pure DBW 1.71 started, but was running in 4.10 - when I activated it with 4.12, it wouldn't load, so I will try the entire install again, and confirm my 4.12 is not corrupted. If I fail again, I will post the info you requested; I'll check back with the results either way, thank you again for your input.

While I'm here, can you answer another question: I asked if the FM of DBW is preserved in this Pre-DBW2 install in a question posted in the forum, but no one has replied. Can you tell me if I am correct that if I am flying a DBW 1.71 pure/4.12 activated load, I will have the 4.12 new A.I., and the DBW flyable aircraft FM, yes?

I would expect so, but please fill me in if you would.

Thanks again,

Success!!

Just kept at it, not the most technically up to speed but persisted and got it up and going. As was stated time and again [sorry to frustrate you, PAL!], it was mostly about the files being where there supposed to be. The 'Data file corrupt' messages I referenced where cleared up by deleting the .last.quick in the Quicks folder, and/or running a Single mission, then trying the QMB again.

I had mistakenly loaded the 2 files from the Jet pac SAS_SFS folder directly into the game folder, but the log file showed me the Pre DBW2 was looking for the SAS_SFS folder, so placed it into the main game folder, with it's 2 sfs files and that ended the 5% load-quit when attempting to start Pre DBW2.  Finally understood that DBW 1916 is not included in the DBW 1.71 download and apparently requires a purchase download of some sort. I have Rise of Flight [limited version with select aircraft I purchased on sale from 777] already loaded, and am not really interested in adding this, so I have everything I need.

Curious regarding my question re 412.2 FM of flyable/A.I. aircraft going unanswered both here and in the main DBW thread, but now I can see for myself.

I am at the tail end of those taking advantage of this offering, and though another 'Super-Mega-Massive-Everything in existence" pack is apparently now the end all, there's a limit to my time to participate, so I don't know if I'll pursue that, perhaps down the road. My main interest as I related is to hopefully be able to fly the aircraft against the new A.I opponents with the greatly improved performance, combined with seeing how aircraft from DBW/UP FM compare with HSFX. [I especially prefer DBW Ta 152 H's FM to HSFX]

Thank you for the respondents who offered assistance to my inquires,

This is going to be a rebirth of the old IL2 !! and you´ll be an importnat part of it! Congratulations  :)

DBW1916 will be great, do you know if the SCW will also be added?

I did get everything up and running, but wasn't able to devote much flying time these past few weeks. I was having quite a struggle in QMB combats, and figured it was the new 4.12 A.I. at work, but now I have found that my control inputs are somewhat nulled. One can pretty much toss an aircraft back and forth with the rudder pedals with 4.12, HSFX, DBW, etc., but with this install the aircraft rudder induced movement is very abbreviated, then minuscule movement after that. Using the control stick is also diminished, even to the point where flying a Fw 190, you can pull the stick back to the stop and not induce a stall. One other problem is the sound of the Ta-152 cannon - with pure DBW 1.71 or Mod pac you hear both in the very loud typical standard, but pure UP3 and Pre-DBW they are very diminished, the wing cannon almost imperceptible.

Apparently some conflict, but not experienced enough to know what to do. Any inputs would be appreciated, thank you.

p3

Forgot to mention, I copied a back up 4.12 to my directory to begin the install, and this had my CH Product control settings loaded, so is this the problem? I tried the restore defaults and re-assigned controls, but no fix.
Title: Re: pre-DBW2 (DBW for 4.12.2) - Public Release
Post by: pugo3 on February 17, 2015, 03:05:26 PM
My nulled control inputs were solved by uninstalling my CHP drivers and going with Windows game controllers, though I'm not sure that this was because I used a copy of 4.12.2 that had already been in use with control input settings or not.

I am still not clear regarding how UP3 sfs files are to be properly loaded. I followed the prescribed DBW 1.71, Jet Wars, HSFX 7.0, ModAct 5.3 install and got the 5% load/quit trying to load Pure UP3, Pure DBW, and Pre-DBW2; I copied the up...sfs files from my existing DBW load and pasted into the new Pre DBW2 files, and that solved the problem. Is this correct, or was a new install of UP3.0 assumed?

Anyways, this may be no longer supported, but if anyone can comment on this for others trying to load the game, I think it would help clarify this, as the Up3.0 sfs do not load in the procedure given by Pal, at least they didn't for me. I extracted the files from DBW 1.71 into a temp folder to double check, and the vast majority of up...sfs files are not present.

Besides the muted cannon sound of the Ta 152C in Pure Pre-DBW2 and Pure UP3, I also am disappointed to find the exhaust smoke of the Bf 109 1940E/N is not present in the same packs, so is this somehow lost in the Total Modder set up? If not, please give me some idea as to how to remedy this, if it is possible. I will really miss that awesome cannon sound, and the exhaust smoke is pretty fun to see, so hopefully this is related to my install [??]

Thank you for any inputs; I will wait a few days and re-post on the other Pre-DBW2 thread to hopefully get some users attention, as most have dropped interest awaiting the CFM package, but TM-3 is very worthwhile during the wait for anyone wanting 4.12 now with DBW.

Post by: pugo3 on March 11, 2015, 01:12:46 PM
Well, no sign of life here, as is to be expected seeing the developer's comment re putting DBW2 aside in view of the new CUP pac. So I'll summarize my experience and answer the questions I posted now that I've installed and used the package to hopefully serve to help anyone wishing to give it a try.

Two quick notes to qualify my remarks:
1) I flew the Fw 190/Ta 152, F4U and F4F only for my evaluation, so no claims to an exhaustive study
2) My Win 7 dual core has always translated aircraft on the slow side, diminishing performance [gotta live with it, can't afford upgrades for now]

First off, how you install the sfs files will give you two different aircraft modelling! If you install DBW 1.17, then manually load just the sfs files from the list of required mod pacs, you will end up with basically 4.12/HSFX aircraft in the DBW rendered maps. The cockpits, sounds, FM are all very much HSFX, not sure if 'Expert mode' or not, but believe they are.

However, if you follow Pablo's method of installing DBW 1.17, and installing each additional mod in the order he prescribed, the full program, not sfs files only, you will have DBW/UP3 aircraft in the DBW rendered maps, sounds, with only the cockpits from HSFX. Regrettably, the DBW/UP3 FM of this method is very much under the influence of 4.12 - the stability and speed of the aircraft are very noticeably diminished from DBW/UP3, which is a real loss in my eyes. I was hoping to fly against the new vicious AI of 4.12 with the UP3 aircraft and there indigenous FM, and with these I am convinced I could take them on with much more authority, but alas, 4.12 rules here. Try for yourself, of course, these are my findings. The difference is your being most always the hunted, rather than a good, even, tough, 'who knows how this thing will turn out' dogfight.

I hope we will continue to see developers use their own FM or FM corrections to the Ubisoft renderings, as UP3 and HSFX 'Expert mode' have done. Here, the work of the UP3 developers has been set aside, whether correctly or not you decide.

One final note: Pablo failed to specify how the UP3 sfs files were to be loaded, as to the order and method. I only succeeded in having 'Pure UP3' work once out of 3 attempts, so apparently there is something required which I did not follow, but again, no instructions re this were included in any of the threads I read. Just make sure that you copy and paste them in, or you will get the 5% load/ quit.

Overall, a worthwhile package, especially nice to fly HSFX in the more artistic DBW maps, but the deterioration of the aircraft using the DBW/UP3 method of install is definitely a step backwards and lamentable. Many thanks to Pablo for his efforts, belatedly to be sure.

Edit: upon further review, I now believe that the DBW/UP3 flyable aircraft are the original FM, but the 4.12 rendered AI opponents now have very much more aggressive behavior, and therefore press you much more, hence your aircraft seems to be not as well behaved as in DBW/UP3!

I would further state that I find the Ta 152C/H are the most accurate of the Il-2 derivatives based on the limited amount of combat accounts extant. With the 'H' you can have a good solid and mostly equally matched dogfight with Spit Mk IX 25 lb, Mk XIV, and Mk XVI, whereas this is not the case in HSFX Expert mode. I had to add a 10% fuel to the Mk XVI to allow a more even dogfight [I attribute this to my computer's interpreting flyable aircraft slower as above] Otherwise he was all over me At 30% each.

The Wildcat [edit] is also to especially combat capable in this load, handling itself commendably against most Japanese opponents, again, not so in HSFX Expert. Recommended.

Regrettably, the Corsair seems to have that nasty aileron snatching with resulting violent stalls, even in rather modest maneuvering, which eliminates any close in combat. This seems to be across the board in the Il-2 F4U, with only HSFX Expert mode not including this characteristic. Would like to see some combat accounts demonstrating this nasty of a stall, definitely makes an impression, so I cannot see how it was not loudly condemned if it was in fact as bad as 4.12 FM suggests.

Again, a great alternative experience for anyone enjoying Il-2 and mostly interested in individual dogfighting, and again, nice to have a variety of FM's out there for us to weigh and decide for ourselves which aircraft to fly.
