At the occasion of 75th anniversary of invasion of German troops into Poland the map of most of the area is here released. Map contains five cities made according to contemporary aerophotos populated manually, other towns are autopopulated. There are more than 800 bridges and 40 grass airfields made according to Atlas lotnisk polskich 1933, and to Fliegerhorste und Einsatzháfen der Lutwaffe by K. Ries and W. Dierich.

Installation guide is included in the package.
Map was tested on Il2 4.101 SAS modact 3.06, DBW 1.71, UP3RC4 and Il2 4.12.2.

Map of Poland 1939 Patch
of April 9, 2016.
The patch contains:
BlankFieldPlates added to airfields,
Poznan historical fortification,
several smaller towns like Pabianice and other added,
most of airfields tested by betatesters,
issues on takeoff and landing AI behaviour repaired.
The patch does not contain missing 3D objects in some town and city suburbs and humlets. These areas would be necessary to make consistent also in 1944 and 45w versions of the Poland map, what is quite huge amount of work, and, moreover, of testing. Therefore it might be done in some future, after release of the Yugoslavia map.
The patch was tested on 4.12.2 SAS 5.30 Il-2 version, it may be downloaded here :

A question about the 'add to static.ini' list. You have quite a few Objects in that appear to be in the stock categories - Kiev, Slovakia, Houses of 46 etc. Are these additional objects for those categories, or repaints, or did you list everything that you used on your map, stock as well as mods?

Listed everything used. If you want to avoid duplicities, use the second possibility in the program Universal static ini checker ver. 1.3, namely , "Search doubled objects".

I think that it is at best to copy 3do folder to the same folder where your 3do folder resides. It was not possible for me to test every possible variant, you see. The standard way is therefore recommended, other ones you might test by yourself.

Go to i18n, rename "Poland_1939_ru.properties" to "- Poland_1939_ru.properties".

I've just downloaded and installed in DBW 1.71 - fantastic (although I have some problems with FPS over Warszawa- but I'm afraid it's because my Intel-Core 2Duo 3.16 GHz and 4GB RAM is not enough)!
Now I'm going to try install in PRE-DBW2.

Hi ls,
I have the same PC, 8 yrs old. There are some troubles above Warszaw, even if it is not populated densely enough, with regard of its boulevards. The one solution for the future making maps of large cities might be that suggested by Skipper from dispersalfield: to make the whole urban quarter as a single object in Il2. But it must be developed and learned first, lol. Similar solution was mentioned also here at SAS some time ago, but it needs some improving.

Bug report:
some of buildings (not all) of the type PAranjuez in Warsaw, Lodz and perhaps in other places might "fly in air".
This bug will be repaired together with others possible , in a future cumulative patch.

It is obvious that even at 1940-41 the airfield at Swidnik was a grass one.
I am now lacking info on precise location, orientation and concrete runways
in many german airfields in Poland in 1940-44.

I am not an expert over DBW1916, but I do not see any reason why not. ;)
The only thing - there are civilian Polish airfields which surely were not in 1916.
Every capable modder has my agreement for remaking the map to 1916 standards.

Yes, I have this, but there are Polish aerodroms, which I suppopse, were destroyed after september 1st, 1939. I need info on German , most probably concrete airfields, in 1944-45.

About which was with concrete runway it is really hard to findout many of this airfield was only temporary especially when the Russian front coming to Polish borders ... I think concrete airfield we can try to find in silesia region or in center/west of Poland .... Cheers

At the moment, it's the only map of Poland available. So it would have to be used for 1914-21 campaigns. I've got it working in DBW 1.71; but not DBW 1916.

I am facing with the old problem in using this "must to have map" i.e. I am not able to save missions, I made a check with "universal static.ini checker" and it reports no missing objects , just reports a list of "Empty References" and "Doubled used sim" items, (too long lists to be posted) could this lead the problem? As I have not idea how to correct these. I am running also the Estonia "map" from uzin (that has the same installation instructions) and it runs without problem. Any idea??

Even if you did not wrote the version of Il 2 you are using, i shall try to help.
1. rename your folders 3do and _Tex by giving "minus" sign in front of them. The same way backup your static.ini file.
2. paste 3do and _Tex folders and static.ini file from the Poland_1939 package instead of those in point 1.
Now the missions must be saveable and run. This way you will find if you did any mistake in your former install.

You may have made some mistake when you did it first time. Even if you did not wrote the version of Il 2 you are using, i shall try to help.

Well, you are rigth...anyway, after some tries I can say that the problem is in merging your static.ini with the one I am using,
if I use your no problem with Poland map,
If use my static.ini merged with your I am not able to save missions in Poland map
if I use only my static.ini I am unable to save missios as well
Why? I don't know this is far beyond my "range" unfortunately.....
The only solution I see...should be to use two static.ini of wich one just for the Poland map...not very practical I think

and overwriting if required, to note that I have not other 3do folder before the installation of Poland Map , am I missing something?

For the config.ini, simply cut out the part Render Open Gl and post it in quote brackets here.
Aka post it in code, for error logs the same, code is the # symbol above the smileys.
And if this map needs NEW objects not within Boomer's pack and 4.12.2, simply add those according to the instructions on top, but first make sure to have all objects installed correctly and a working install, then back up the STD folder, at least all textual files.
ALways try to give a form of error log (see Mods section, logfile thread) and the game version.

When flying to the edge of each Il2 map the terrain becomes seemingly flat. It is feature of Il2 engine, you know.

With Microdem, the map maker uses the actual topography of the area he is mapping. So maybe Poland is not as "flat" as Rector believes!
When I did my South Ukraine map, someone told me that he would never fly my map because I had made Ukraine "too flat"...... :)

The problem has been at the end sorted out. I gave-up in hoping to use this map but after some day I just tought to try to put your static.ini addition to the Top of my static.ini instead of the end, before EOF (just a sort of desperate try) and know what? All is working fine now! Why?? I have not idea and not able to figure out. I double checked this several times and , for my game configuration, is as described. Hope this could help someone in future. Strange things happens, but the map for me is working...now and this is the only important thing.

I got this installed in DBW 171 a couple of days ago It works fine The airfields are just as I like them; semi developed Fine for 1914-1945 River ports can be added by mission developers as needed I mean the sort that cater to lighters and barges I got the Belorussia map working too I try to get them going in DBW 1916 I'll have to re-install it first

Thanks to PM of wosiu14, the position of Kock was repaired - now it is east of Demblin, not southeast.
Ulez was added. Position of Blizna was moved to south.
All these and former issues will be repaired in a future patch, together with others revealed here .

Uzin, I think I'm going to fly your map in "The calm before the storm" timeline 1936-1939. Just a series of cross-country flights, to enjoy the effort you put into this map :) Now, I just need to find suitable aircraft for the period!

Finally got around to d/l the Poland map.
Spent two hours installing it (checked the entire static.ini to avoid duplicates)
Crossed my fingers, toes, eyes and launched it.
And it worked beautifully!

Today I noticed some, im my opinion major, problem. I can find on your map Zgierz, Aleksandrow Lodzki, and many others, but... there are no small villages - but it's not so much big problem. More important is that you forget about... Pabianice, rather big city south from Lodz ;)

You are quite right, mea culpa.
Zgierz and Aleksandrow Lodzki were added upon the request of local inhabitant, if you remind the Pabianice then, I would add this city. As you can imagine, the manual adding of all the cities is the way full of possible errors, number of small villages is enormous.
There are other several mistakes: for example, the map 1939 does not contain Poznan fortresses, important in "kampanija wrziesniowa". They were added, however , to 1944 and 1945 map.
Perhaps sometime somebody will upgrade the Poland 1939 map ?

"Battle was fought between Polish 15 and 72 Infantry Regiments from 28 Infantry Division and German SS-Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, 17. Infanterie Division and I./Panzer-Regiment 23.
Pabianice itself was defended by 15 Infantry Regiment - and was successfully defended (Germans managed to reach the centre of the town but were repulsed by Polish counterattack - suffering heavy casualties, especially in AFVs).
Later that day Polish 2 Infantry Division - which was fighting south of 28 Infantry Division and was under heavy enemy pressure near the town Konstantynow - had to retreat, and exposed the southern flank of 28 Infantry Division.
German forces rushed in this gap and outflanked the Polish division. 72 Infantry Regiment was forced to counterattack near village Chech?o Pierwsze and temporarily repulsed German forces recapturing the village, but later they counterattacked and defeated the regiment, which suffered very heavy casualties.
As the result of these events commander of the division had to order 15. IR to retreat from Pabianice in the late evening on 07.09.1939 to avoid being encircled.
Division regrouped and occupied another defensive line near Wola Cyrusowa. The battle of Wola Cyrusowa lasted for the whole day on 8th of September 1939. All German attacks near Wola Cyrusowa were repulsed.
On 9 IX 28. Infantry Division was ordered by general Wiktor Thommee to stop the battle near Wola Cyrusowa and retreat behind the river Rawka. On 10.09.1939 it was ordered to retreat towards Warsaw via Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Pruszkow. It couldn't get to Warsaw because Germans had already cut-off its way to Warsaw and it didn't manage to break through, so on 13 IX it was ordered to retreat towards Fortress Modlin (as all forces under command of general Thommee) and units of the division reached Modlin between 14 IX (2/3 of the division) and 19 IX (1/3 of the division).
Division was defending the fortress until 29 IX and surrendered on 29.09.1939 after the capitulation of Modlin."

Pabianice are, together with Posen fortresses and some glicks in SE edge, in the list of needed repairs some time in the future, perhaps after Yugoslavia. What about improving field textures in cyberolas style ?
Any other remarks on improvement of the map would be welcome. either publicly here or in PM.
But be patient, please, it will take more than 2 weeks, LOL.

Uzin, upgrading to the use of Smolensk textures would look great. Map_T would maybe need to be re-worked to make a better combination of different textures and reduce the tiling effect of just one texture. Difficult but possible in large open spaces of a map. We'll wait for it. Continue with your good work.

None of the airfields around Warzaw looks like Okecie AFAICT.

I am not at my PC for a while, but I think AF around Warsaw were made strictly historical, according to the List of Polish airfields.

I am now on my rig and found that Okecie AF is present on Poland 1944 map but not on Poland 1939, as it should be ! Wisiting Wikipedia, I found that Okecie AF was built in 1934. Unfortunately, I relied too much upon "Atlas Lornisk Polskich 1933", and omited Okiecie AF. Many thanks for reminder, you can take AF from Poland 1944 map, if needed. Enlisted into repairs of the map. in some future.

5. Some bridges and position of Kock corrected

1. Neisse lake of 70ties remove (by correcting Mymap_c.tga file) as on 44 map. EDIT: Done.

Neudorf (GER) (a.k.a. Neudorf-Oppeln; today: Polska Nowa Wies)
(50 38 10 N - 17 47 00 E)
General: operational airfield (Einsatzhafen) in Silesia 76 km SE of
Breslau (Wroclaw), 11 km WSW of Oppeln (Opole) and 1.2 km SW of
the village of Neudorf (Nowa Wies).
History: built 1938-39. Used by operational units during the attack
on Poland in Sep 39, but thereafter became a training station for
single-engine elementary flight schools.
Dimensions: approx. 825 x 960 meters (900 x 1050 yards) and
rectangular in shape.
Surface and Runways: grass surface. No pave runway. Equipped
with boundary and obstruction lighting as well as a flare path for night
landings.
Fuel and Ammunition: bulk fuel storage was among the workshops off
the S boundary. A large munitions dump was in a forest 3.25 km SE
of the landing area and a smaller dump 1 km to the SW.
Infrastructure: had 3 large and 1 medium hangar off the S boundary
with interconnected paved aprons. Workshops were off the SE
boundary grouped around the medium hangar and the station motor
pool and garages just E of that. All of the station buildings, including
admin offices, barracks and messes, were grouped behind the hangars
off the S boundary. A branch rail spur from the Oppeln-Neisse rail
line served the S and W sides of the airfield.
Dispersal: a number of aircraft bays were cut into the woods on the
NW, W and SE sides of the landing area.
Defenses: unknown.

Uzin, the railway bridges are probably working as they should, it was only because I'm a FMB newbie that I had problems to get the trains over bridges. I've learnt how to do it now.
After a lot of testing in DGen_mod have I now been able to get a decent start frontline for September 1:st, 1939 IMHO.
But I had to make Konitz and Schneidemuhl Polish, because the lack of Polish towns in the North west part of the map.

I am not sure that those AF are named, they are probably made on the data found as follows: " auxilliary AF was 5 km SE of the village so and so" . But I shall look at this question later.

You most kidding Uzin this is a map we wait for years , just find out a beta version is out , infortunatly having a CUP install only now I cannot test it yet , but still beg to fly my favorite plane over this map until Il2 is out it s were everything begin how can we have a Blitzgreg without Poland... just watching those screen shot and i all ready imagine all the scenario who could be done there,,, Most all the 109 skins i skins for the last 2 months could only fly on this maps.....it s a exellent work you just done , just give use the time to appreciated it....

As I have read here some guys have troubles with mediafire where some files migh get corrupted.
Especially, folder StoneWall2 was found to suffer from this issue sometimes.

BlankFieldPlates were added to Lublinek and Ksawerow airstrips, Ulez AF levelled, Mielce and Sandomierz AF surrounding terrain height adjusted as to not prevent correct AI and autopilot landings. Names were corrected.

And the add2staticini should be added to static.ini file which is in the folder:

By my mistale I have omitted the folder Stonewall2 in the previously released Patch_Pol_39_v2, even if it was listed in add2staticini file there present.
So I am releasing Patch_Pol_39_v3 now, including all the necessary folders for upgrading Poland_1939 map:

Ok Uzin,
downloaded the patch and applied , in my configuration game 4.12 +5.3 it works fine and it is possible to save missions, made a quick tour on Warsaw , where my PC showed its age (fps) so hurried back in countryside where it is best suited!

As it concerns FPS over Warsaw, it is perhaps the problem with all larger cities - either to have buildings like notes for drum , lol, or to affect FPS .

I think will be better to leave the big cities as beautiful as they are now, :) ; when I will have a faster PC I will always able to come back avoiding fps nightmare! After all the game is about airplane fighting not city center sightseeing :D (even being really amusing to make it)

I'm a bit late to the party, but I must praise your work like everyone else. This map of yours fills a big gap, and I simply must build a campaign or two for it. WW2 or WW1. Or both! I will get back to you. Because with this map the possibilities for historical mission building is just HUGE! 1914-15, 1920, 1939, 1941, 1944 etc. And you made it possible! ;)

I promised the patch to be released after two weeks. Owing to my procrastination, :P
I am doing it only now, a week later.
The patch contains:
BlankFieldPlates added to airfields,
Poznan historical fortification,
several smaller towns like Pabianice and other added,
most of airfields tested by betatesters,
issues on takeoff and landing AI behaviour repaired.
The patch does not contain missing 3D objects in some town and city suburbs and humlets. These areas would be necessary to make consistent also in 1944 and 45w versions of the Poland map, what is quite huge amount of work, and, moreover, of testing. Therefore it might be done in some future, after release of the Yugoslavia map.
The patch was tested on 4.12.2 SAS 5.30 Il-2 version, it may be downloaded here or at the first post of this thread.

Patch is intended to be done over original Poland 1939 map as given in the first post of this thread. So it was tested now. Sorry for inconvenience.

oh, oh! excuse me. You are talking about the updated 1939 map version.
I think any time users download a map, they should always check back later for any updates. Usually, maps are continuously a WIP to make them better or to correct errors.
btw, I am one of those who downloaded the updated 1939 map. ;)
I hope users will also see my map updates!

I have only just discovered this patch although it has been available for a while and I was particularly keen to have the blank field plates. I downloaded the original and just moved on to other things. This game is now so huge that, what with RL interfering from time to time, it takes a while to get round to stuff you mean to do. Anyway, thank you very much for the patch which makes this great map even better.

Removing or moving objects from roads and railways, removing interfering houses and other objects, minor adjustments so the 3d models better match the terrain texture etc.
And my Poland 1939 campaign is nearly finished now.

Have you in Il-2 Sturmovik/MODS(or #SAS)/mapmods/maps/all.ini file the following lines added ?

I think if you have the map in all.ini file, it must be visible in FMB listing. It has nothing to do with other mods. Moreover, I did not met a situation where one map interfere with the other one. Can you post here your all.ini file?

I started working on a DGen_Mod Campaign for Poland 1939 three years ago, but since I also made some updates on the map (info here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,55110.0.html) and some 3d updates it has taken long time. :-[
The campaign is made for VP Modpack, and estimated release is during 2019. ;)

Senility it creeping up on me here, I guess. I could have sworn I saw VPmedia's retextured map available for download, but neither I nor the search function have been able to locate the link. Is it still WIP or is it available?

I don't know what happened: so far the maps of Poland (1939, 1944, 1945 - all three) opened without a problem. However, when I installed BAT the "Big Circus" version I can't use any of these maps. I thought that this may be the result of my "modernization", but despite their removal nothing has happened. Has anyone also had such a problem?

I have only used Poland 1939 recently but I have had no problems. What do you mean that you cannot "use" it? Are you flying any particular mission or is it a general map problem?

The map cannot be started at all. The game just freezes. In older BAT versions I didn't have any problems with that.

I have not installed BAT the "Big Circus" version
because of my rig being too old and running win XP.,
so sorry, I cannot help.

No issue here. Are you trying to open the maps in the FMB, QMB, or in a campaign? Any error message or just the freeze?

Maps do not open in FMB function. I wrote several missions on the maps of Poland 1939 and 1944 and one 1945. At the moment neither clean maps from the catalog nor my missions are opening. I do not understand at all - because so far after each modernization of the game Uzin maps functioned flawlessly - unless I broke something myself There is no message that would explain a lot, only the endlessly circling circle, meaning loading and finally the information: "... The program has stopped responding etc ..."

Can you help me to get this map to work? I have sturmovik 1946 from steam.
I don't have MODS folder in my game files. Then at point "3." from instruction i don't have all.ini text file to copy content from add2all_ini.txt
Am i missing something? I'm new, never installed any mod on Sturmovik 1946 game. Should i get some mod manager? Plz help, i'm from Poland and really want to get this map to work.

If you have a version from STEAM then it is stock.
To add maps or any other mods to your install you need a modact for your version.

Most mods and modpacks (B.A.T. and VP Modpack) are made for version 4.12.2 this is the version I recommend you get either by using the mega patch or unpatcher.

Incredible you are a living encyclopedia for this game. Thanks a lot :). I searched BAT and found the static.ini entry but I didn't think that I could have just dump it in fact I still work in the old days by searching object collections and extracting from sfs however to extract from BAT sfs is a daunting task. Thank you again.

What is curious, the number of downloads of revised, remade version of this Poland map

reached only 97, in spite of being much more accurate and with much less issues.
