Title: UP3 Server Patches (old thread, outdated)
Post by: SAS~Storebror on November 15, 2014, 06:48:34 AM
Hi folks,

Since the server patches (RC1 and RC4 are required) seem to have vanished, I'm offering a mirror here for server operators and those who'd like to become one:

UP3 RC1 Server Patch (https://www.mediafire.com/download/sd9as108cirobqu)
UP3 RC4 Server Patch (https://www.mediafire.com/download/z6xa5dqlut2bf3q)

Best regards - Mike

Having a problem after installing the DS patches. First time I got error messages in that black box on my desktop. After that every time I try and start the game, I get these 'DeleteFile<\E:\UP_3\~~whats.up> failed messages' in that same black box on my desktop.

The worst part is that the DS patches deleted/overwrote my original UP3 Startup in my jsgmemods folder so there is no way for me to start my game at all now.

If I understood you correctly, you tried to install these patches on your game?

These patches are for another software: the IL-2 dedicated Server (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&c=575) ;)

Hi Aviar,

Of course when you want to run an IL-2 server installation, you have to start with an IL-2 dedicated server version.
Original Server installations start with Version 2.04 and have to be patched up step by step, a good explanation can be found here:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&p=157139#157139

You can take a shortcut by using this full featured 4.08m server pack:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=2417

Then you "only" need to apply the server patches for 4.09m, 4.10m and 4.10.1m before installing UP3 RC on top, followed by the two UP3 server patches from the first post of this thread.
Last but not least, I strongly recommend to update the Selector to it's latest version, use the "SAS Selector v3.1.3 for Dedicated Server Operators" in your case:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16403.0.html

Wow, I totally misunderstood. I'm glad I had a backup of my UP3 folder as the current one is garbage now.

*EDIT: You know, I used to run a dedicated server back in the day so I don't know why I did such a silly thing. However, let me leave you all with this little tidbit. It is a medical fact that we lose millions of brain cells every day. These brain cells are never replaced. So that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

When you installed the UP3 server patches above your client installation, it's sufficient to install the client RC4 patch on top and your UP3 is fine again.

Getting close to starting the DS except that it won't launch. I get a 'No Group Selected' error.

Well, there is nothing in the Groups window to select. Actually, I don't even know what a 'Group' is. I could not find anything in the readme that describes what a Group is and how I can place one in the window...!!??

Also, how do I know I have the correct DS? The readme says version 303m.

Hi Mike,

long ago since I run my last UP3.3 server, which I now have restarted to run with UP3.4.

So far all works well and I have the server now running with UP3.4 Patch0.

Is there a server version for Patch2 available?????

I tried already if the client version of Patch2 works as well......but it did not. Not really a surprise...lol

Hm... did I really miss that?
Alright, here is UP3.4 Server: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/3iy3iahavfb7z/Ultrapack_3.4_''Cassie''_Server_Update
After that, install Patch 2 for Server on top: https://www.mediafire.com/file/zj2rgd9jry4ypad/Ultrapack_3.4_Server_Patch_2.rar/file
Finally, grab the contents from the "#UP#" folder of the latest Hotfix and throw them in your Server's one.

Sorry for the fiddling but Server Operators are supposed to deal with that :P

Hello  :)

Did I do something wrong? It seems I cannot combine these files for extracting them. All eight of them are in the same directory yet they can only be extracted individually.

In order to open a split rar archive, you don't have to add all parts to another 7zip container, but instead you just open part1 in 7zip:

I see now, thanks.

I am trying to understand what I am missing, because I started from 4.0.8 > 4.0.9. > 4.10 > 4.10.1,
then Ultrapack Server 3.4 > Server Patch 2 > Hotfix 17 #UP# > IL-2_Selector_4.0.2_Server. Yet running il2fb.exe for the server gives dozens of exceptions. I ended up copying these up_ SFS files from the client install since it keeps complaining they are missing:
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Server runs fine after I copy them over, but loading this non-stock missions (https://www.mediafire.com/file/57if38ktynjfhnz/028_Korea2.zip/file) seems to throw some more:
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

It also lets me load this other non-stock mission (https://www.mediafire.com/file/i4wz7ec1835pi55/SM1.zip/file) and connect/play it, but the server crashes without anything I can recognize in logs.lst after 5-10 minutes on whatever mission I try. A memory leak?

No worries, we'll get you through this together.
The installation order for UP3 Server is <stock version order> ... -> 4.10.1 -> UP3 RC4 Server -> UP 3.4 -> Patch 2 -> latest Hotfix.
The UP3 RC4 Server step seems to be missing in your case.

Ok, from 4.10.1 I added the UP_3.0RC4_DFServer Patch to the order, and noticed it gives these .sfs files:

I continued with Ultrapack Server 3.4.part1-8, then Ultrapack 3.4 Server Patch 2, and finally the contents of #UP#\STD from hotfix 17 (https://www.mediafire.com/file/clsdpv87hp226np/Ultrapack+3.4+Cassie+Patch+2+Hotfix+17.exe/file) into the servers #UP#\STD.

These exceptions continue  :(

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Full logs.lst here:
https://pastebin.com/K8nCdjLB

It complains about the missing up__.sfs and others that I could only find in the client install, is there something else I am missing?

Ok, from 4.10.1 I added the UP_3.0RC4_DFServer Patch to the order
...which is fine, but it's still missing UP3 itself and the RC1 Server Patch.

The order is:
...
4.10.1
UP3RC (Client and Server use the same pack here) -> see here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15966.0.html
UP3 Server Patches (RC1 and RC4, both are requited) -> see here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43594.0.html
UP3.4 Update for UP3 and DBW -> see here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43594.msg765234.html#msg765234
UP 3.4 Patch 2 -> see here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43594.msg765234.html#msg765234
Latest Hotfix (right below Patch 2)

So from what I'm starting to understand is that there are multiple ways to get a dedicated server running Ultrapack?

Starting from 4.10.1m I followed the previous instructions

Attempted to connect to the server and it said "Server uses a different version of the game (4.10.1m)". I made a video just to make sure I'm not insane  :(
https://youtu.be/EgtD0xu7qGE?t=545

Was I to really skip these files that I used previously, for the client ones?
Hm... did I really miss that?
Alright, here is UP3.4 Server: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/3iy3iahavfb7z/Ultrapack_3.4_''Cassie''_Server_Update
After that, install Patch 2 for Server on top: https://www.mediafire.com/file/zj2rgd9jry4ypad/Ultrapack_3.4_Server_Patch_2.rar/file

Oh indeed you're right, my mistake.
You need to install the server update for Cassie and Patch 2, not the client ones.
Post updated, sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for clarifying  :)
I got the install in order then.

Any other reason why missions using Ultrapack maps/assets cause it to crash at random times? My logs.lst (https://pastebin.com/DWTM5mHB) never produces anything right before crash.

https://youtu.be/OF1P8ggLOuk

I've ran the same mission  (https://pastebin.com/Bep7mPHw)and one time I managed 2 hour 20 minutes, another time only 20 minutes before a crash.  I ran some stock 1946 missions and had no issues with them after a few hours on the Ultrapack server.

Looks odd.
Please give the attached file a try.
Just extract the zip and drop the extracted file "EEBBE344D2C2A05A" (no extension) into the "#UP#" folder.

Added that to the #UP# folder, but still crashing silently at random times.  :(

Is there any way to get more verbose logging or some easier way of identifying the issue? I have put up some of these same missions that crash, with everything removed but home bases, and the server stays up no issue. So I think its not map related but something placed in the mission?

Sorry I've been unspecific again.
I'm sorry for all the hassles... rest assured, once you have the dedicated server up and running, you'll be amazed how rock-solid it operates for ages without any need to interfere with it.

Back to topic:
You need to put the file "EEBBE344D2C2A05A" into a subfolder of "#UP#" (quite like you would with any other mod), the name doesn't matter - if you like, call it "server hotfix".
So the folder/file structure has to be like this:
Code: [Select]
[your game folder]
                |
                +--> [#UP#]
                       |
                       +--> [server hotfix]
                                   |
                                   +-------> EEBBE344D2C2A05A

(Note: Square brackets just denote folder names, they are not part of the name of the folder itself)

I'm 150% confident that once the file is in the right spot, the random crashes will end.

Ran various missions on the server over past few days, but I am still experiencing crashes.
Placed the mod in its own folder within #UP#:

Hm... interesting.
If you could provide a crashing mission we could cross-check on our server.
Other than that, please find another version of the file "EEBBE344D2C2A05A" attached to this post.
As before, extract the file from the zip and put it into your "server hotfix" folder.
I take it that there is no other folder inside "#UP#" but "server hotfix" and maybe "STD"?
Last but not least, instead of running the server exe with double-click, I recommend to open a command prompt and run the exe in there manually.
That way you see the last output from the server when it crashed.
Maybe there's another issue which the server would have told you about all the time already...

Put the new "EEBBE344D2C2A05A" in, there are no other folders inside #UP# besides "STD" and "server hotfix". Tested few more times and issue persists, sometimes it is 20 minutes before a crash, other times 2 hour, or 6 hours...
Nothing in the terminal after il2server.exe quits:

These missions crashed:
S1.mis (https://www.mediafire.com/file/xvqanly8imony6f/S1.mis/file)
FL_StalingradW42Red.mis (https://www.mediafire.com/file/1dc22td89bldbgx/FL_StalingradW42Red.mis/file)
FL_Korea2Blue.mis (https://www.mediafire.com/file/07wujdin0iqfwpf/FL_Korea2Blue.mis/file)

There must be a player connected to the server for the crashes to occur, an empty server has no issues.

Are there any other options to resolving my issue with the Ultrapack 3.4 dedicated server? I've reinstalled again and again- it still crashes at random times when players are connected to the server.

Did the sas1946.rocks server use the same files and patching process? Or is there a mission I can run to test if it crashes? I loaded missions with nothing but home bases on them and they do not crash. I'm not sure where it starts, whether with AI or static objects placed on the map.
