Title: Fw-190D-13 "Red 2" of JV-44
Post by: Ta183Huckebein on November 25, 2014, 02:46:48 PM
Hi guys.

I am collecting together a series of skins related to JV-44, and I noticed while browsing Asisbiz, a "Red 2" D-13 is listed. There was no skin, and I have not found any skin for this craft anywhere.

If anyone is interested, there is the pic from Asisbiz:

Jv44 had 5 doras on call, 3 D-9s and 2 D-11s, its assumed that the unknown 11 is Red 2.

There is no evidence of a D-13

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Phas3e.

Asisbiz listed it as a -13. I guess you can't believe everything on the internet ;).

Good to know.

Hello Huck,

As for skins I found lately a lot of crap and nonsense.

Fortunately, "Boelcke" and "Phas3e" always give good advices and informations to me.

Best regards,

Gerhard  ;)  :)

Hi BK.

Yeah, they are some of the best.

Just noted that the picture I posted says D-11 on it. (facepalm)

It's official. I'm an f***ing moron. :-[

Question is here from Huckebein is, is she worth skinning perhaps? Because if you think about it, Phas3e re worked his JV44 pack in ''Gotterdammerung'' with most aircraft in there, he did do ''Red 4'' in the past which was also a D-11, so maybe this one could complete the set? I mean I think she is beautiful.

I do know Phas3e is busy with ''Black 5'' so he is focused on that for the time being, I don't know if Boelcke would do it, mind you he is a busy chap like the rest of us. Skinning is about time, some of us don't have that luxury.

IMO theres no point guessing what the aircraft looked like.
We know nothing about it at all everything would be assumed

I´m sorry, don´t have any sources about that plane, even any informations if that plane has existed in reality.

I am guessing she could be classed as Hypothetical?

Wasn't that the one that landed at Salzburg? Thought there was a colour photo of it with an American GI standing in front of this kite. I could be mistaken though.

That Ice Fire may have been Red 1 I think....I am not to sure I will have to check up on my notes. Still Red 2 looking into her further, I think she was just made up.

I have had no joy through any of my research books as well as the internet. Nothing at all on Red 2. She is a fictional D-11.

That was 'Red 1'

All we know is that 1 D-11 attributed to a 'Jg44' on US army document's was recorded as being at Bad Aibling (Red 4 was left at Munich) and that it can partially be seen in the back ground of several photos of the POW's and on the scrap heap.

I don't think any GI photo albums from there have turned up unlike the other airfields where we have large collections of images  of the aircraft at the field.

So imp skinning the '5th Dora' is one of another time and as more and more albums turn up for sale and online as the old men do what old men do, we may yet get a good look at it and see what the number was and what slogan was painted on the side.
