Title: C.U.P. Campaigns to be found here!
Post by: SAS~Poltava on March 18, 2015, 01:30:21 PM
Thanks to Griffon_301 there now is a 100% certified C.U.P version of my 4.12 campaign "Battle for France", for the Bloch MB.152!

(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Poltava/aaaa_bof-mb152-cup_zpsv2qw4j0s.jpg) (http://s163.photobucket.com/user/Poltava/media/aaaa_bof-mb152-cup_zpsv2qw4j0s.jpg.html)

More info and download HERE: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1525

"Battle for France - MB-152" is a semi-historical, static 17-mission campaign, set during the Battle for France 1940. You are a French fighter pilot flying the Bloch MB152. The campaign commences with the Blitzkrieg phase, starting on May 10, with the actions against Belgium, swiftly followed by the breakthrough at Sedan, the dash for the Channel, and finally the air actions of the final weeks before the armistice on June 25. (At this date French aerial resistance had virtually ceased, with a number surviving aircraft withdrawing to French North Africa.) Many missions in this campaign are based on actual events.

Note that as a C.U.P. user you will have to download this additional material:

1.   The MB-152 (plus the stationary aircraft entries for the ini files found in the download). You can D/L it here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30589.0.htmlhttps://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30589.0.html

3.   The Self Stationary version of the Potez 540 series. You can D/L it here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15399.0.html

tllodyau has also stepped in here and adapted and validated the following of my modded 4.12 campaigns:

Very good, I'll try it out. Any idea on how difficult it would be to update any of your other campaigns?

Technically it is not difficult...its only more ot less time consuming :)

"Typhoons over Normandy" has also been converted to CUP standards, and is included in the HSFX download.

Download here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1315

Thanks for making this a sticky, suitable for all CUP-compatible campaigns!  :)

I just want to say a big thank you to Poltava for your fantastic campaigns. I've enjoyed all the ones I've tried and Typhoons over Normandy is still my all time favourite even though it's a little short. I know that there was talk of you doing a 'part 2' flying from an airstrip in Normandy rather than from across the Channel. Is this still in the pipeline?

Yes, indeed, I have that in my pipeline, but before I do it I hope to get my CUP install sorted, so I can build it directly in CUP.  :)

Please forgive my ignorance..(This is for CUP) I downloaded Fighterboys unzipped the folder, then placed the folder in missions/campaigns/GB... but when I go to pilot career, nothing shows up for RAF at all, I can't even choose a rank?

What did I do wrong?

Hi Kevin,

Did you delete the mission files fb-1 to fb-15 (.mis and .properties) and replace them with the files in the separate FighterBoysCUP folder? It works fine for me... When you're up and running, I also recommend that you download the excellent Spitfire Mk 1 mod here: http://freeil2modding.free-forum.net/spitfire-mk1-upgrade-with-redux-pilot-vt3836.html  Hope that helps!

Glad to help. If you download the Spitfire mod I recommended, I forgot to say that the one I use is the SAS Mod Act version. Save it into your #WAW folder, amend the -text5.tga file to text5.tga as per the note and add the pilot fix and you're good to go!

If you can't even see the campaign, there is probably a folder level error. Check that the folder you placed in GB actually contains all the .mis, .properties and .ini files required in a campaign, and that there not is another folder nested in there, with all these files.

I did as you say (I think).  I now have, in my #WAW folder, a file #SPITFIRE-MKl, in that folder, I have 3do/Cockpit/SpitfireMkl in which I did the thing with the -text5.tga folder and made it into text5.tga.  Now, how do I tell whether I have done this correctly?  Will the Spitfire Mkl look different than it did before?  Sorry for the ignorance.  Thanks for any help/advice.

Post by: porschefan on April 21, 2015, 12:27:15 AM
Hi Ol' Navy, Yes - the changes are minor but they're definitely there on my version. The most obvious difference is the pilot who should look like a proper Battle of Britain pilot rather than the generic Il2 chappie. There are other differences around the cockpit and mirror (my old CUP version had a round reflective patch on the 'hinge' of the mirror which looked wrong but now it's corrected). It might not be worth the hassle for some but try it and see. Don't forget to download the pilot correction also on the same page.

Hmmm I'm miffed  :(  So I placed a folder into the missions/campaigns/GB/Fighterboys  - copied all the files, pasted all the CUP .mis & .properities files (along with the other files .ini ect) still not getting it to even show up. Should I disable MissionPro? I noticed that RAF/NZAF ect stock campaigns are also not there. Do have Germany, USA haven't really checked the rest.

Try and do that, even though I haven't heard of MissionPro having THAT effect.

Sorry - thought this thread was campaign specific - my mistake. Its Fighter Boys, and its also missing a Bedford Truck. I realise I could delete them from the mis.file but I want this to be right as you intended (I know how much work goes into these campaigns) plus I expected the CUP to have everything. Apparently it does not.

Ehm for starters you can add that gaz car mod from here and its associated color variations to get a blue car..then just modify the entry of the chief section of the mis file with the corresponding entry of the gaz car mod...
or try any other car that is in CUP

Hamm, OK, I said how smart you were, and I really mean it.  But, after installing the campaign, when it is loading, the aircraft I get is a jeep.  I can get it changed to a Lancaster (I don't know for sure what screen it is), but then when I start the campaign on autopilot, I end up with the Lancaster right up against some buildings, with only have a left wing.  I can manually start the engines, but then the aircraft can't move (due to being up against the buildings I guess).  What have I done wrong?  Evidently I have messed something up.  Same is true when I attempt to load the mission in FMB.  I have gone into QMB and can use a Lancaster.  Thanks for any help or advice.

Many thanks for this one! I enjoyed the Lanc in Just Flight's 'Dambusters' add-on and am really looking forward to this IL-2 campaign! I've just started a mission report over at CombatAce (in the Mission Reports forum, oddly enough) and the Lancs having now arrived, I'm eagerly anticipating my first flight.

Simon, you might want to add even more objects, tanks, vehicles etc.
when I converted Peter´s MB-152 campaign, I ran into some trouble with objects like cars, buses, fuel trucks and starter vehicles as there is not much variety in CUP currently;
the new GAZ car with its color variations I think is a great way to start with; also some early war French tanks would be great and even some other older vehicle stuff...

other than that, I am looking forward to your new campaigns..I just started that great Spit campaign of yours, done for 4.10 originally; it seems to run just fine in CUP and the formation takeoff in mission 1 is just GREAT!!!!!

It's later than the period you're after but here's a Polish squadron campaign: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=4766

I've not tried this one myself but I've tried a few of the other campaigns by the same guy and they're usually pretty good.

hi Griffon

Got tyhis in response to your helpful post...but I've just flown the first two missions this - as a pilot career, and the first mission a second time, as a single mission - and the briefing panel is completely blank - no text at all. I hear the period music (and the stock menu music) but not the controller briefings (maybe these replace the usual text ones?) mentioned in the .pdf readme. Any suggestions welcome as to what I've done wrong! TIA!

33lima, you just need to remove the -_ru' extensions from the 'properties' files in the Missions/Campaign/'name of the campaign' folder and the briefings should show up.

Many thanks - i'm onto it!

Completed mission report is now up - definitely another one worth playing!

33lima, I enjoyed reading your stories about the Lanc campaign.

I could give you a few pointers if you want another go but I was gratified to read of the challenges you experienced - that is pretty much what I was aiming for! ;D

The campaign is supposed to be difficult but the autopilot will take you to the next waypoint if you use the radio to order it to and the radio stations can be used to navigate but they are mostly just to keep you entertained on the long flight.

The mine laying mission does end up in daylight as the morning progresses and the sunrise is particularly impressive, making the return journey much easier - if you have all engines running and are not full of holes!

Anyway, well written reviews. Keep it up

Thanks! And no I haven't given up on the Lanc campaign, I'm just hoping for some bomber stream work soon, where, free of formation-keeping, all I have to worry about is mid-air collisions. And the flak. And the searchlights. And the navigation. And the night fighters. And Scarecrows. And maybe, just maybe, avoiding 'agricultural bombing', if/when I get there. And landing, if/when I get home....! It looks like a great campaign!

If it's any help it's worked fine for me, for two missions so far. The map showed up from the beginning, on the LH panel of the briefing screen. The briefing text only showed up in the RH panel, after I had deleted '_ru' from all the properties files. I'm not sure if there are some audio messages or briefings I should be hearing, that I'm not, but the normal radio comms are all playing as normal.

Thanks for the prompt reply 33lima, I guess I need to go back and re-download/install and try that.  As I said above, I can't get anything to show up concerning the brief screen.  Not sure what my problem is, but I am betting it is me.  Thanks again.

You might try turning missionpro in jsgme on or off. There are still issues with compatibility but it should work. Or open a mission or two in FMB and save straight away, that sometimes works. (after you remove the _ru extension though).

As always, thank you for your advice.  In fact, I did turn off mission pro last night and now I get the map and brief screen but when I try to start the first mission all I get is sky (although it is a pretty one).  There doesn't seem to be any aircraft since I am unable to push the "arming" button to look at the markings, etc., and the load screen goes through its processes really fast.    Anyhow, I'll keep "diddling".  I am pretty sure I don't have any more difficulties than you smart folks, but it's just that I don't usually possess the know how to fix them like y'all do.  Thanks for your thoughts.
Title: Re: C.U.P. Campaigns to be found here!
Post by: ol' Navy on May 12, 2015, 01:05:06 PM
When you see the brief screen if there is a flight path marked on it you will need to open the mission in FMB and just look around a bit then save and it should work. If there is NO flight path there is no player plane selected and it may take a bit more fiddling.

I don't know why these things are different for different people who apparently have the same version of CUP but I reckon its because there are just so many mods included that even a slight difference in the install process can make a difference.

Thanks friend.  The only thing I have done lately concerning my game is I downloaded/installed, through JSGME of course, that air.ini switcher mod in helps of speeding up my game.  Hope I didn't mess something up.  But I will see this evening what you are talking about.  My old eyes I'm afraid don't let me look at the game very often lately, and so I think I can do it later today.  Thank you, as always for your help.

Anything you add that is not based on the cup changes the way the mods act and react from just a cup install. The easiest way to add what was not added to the cup modules is open the sfs files that are used and install them that way. very easy to do

The way to get the la chute summer/winter maps to show in cup modules waw/jtw is first dl all 3 versions of la chute the three versions are la chute/la chute hsfx/la chute up3rc4. Then install in that order and pay att. to the static ini that comes with each version.
Important you must open the sfs files that pertain to the map and install that way that way when/if updates come will not mess it up. I am sure Simon will tell you what he uses to create the sfs files.
To do the static right and fast use win-merge to compare and merge the static ini if not a long time by opening both and comparing then copying and pasting the contents.
Great maps and the lanc campaign you will enjoy

So at least one of your excellent SCW campaigns must be close, yes?   8)

I have heard rumors that there will be a special module for the inter-war years, and then ALL my SCW campaigns will be available!  :)

More than rumours my friend, you designed the definitive SCW flightline and it will be available in CUP very soon.  The French aircraft MB142, LEO451 and Potez 540 will also be integrated into the next World at War Upgrade, along with around 30 other aircraft now ready for 412.

I downloaded the lancaster campaign but after pressing fly, during loading I get this error:
...la_chute_spit973/chute_load.ini

this is using cup with all modules installed and waw set.

I wish I knew the cause and solution for this problem but I don't. It happens to a few people and there has been some discussion about it on the main queries thread but I have not seen a definitive answer.

Some people are adding the original map but I have not seen reports that this fixes the problem.

Sorry I am not more help - I have never seen the error myself and I use a unmodded CUP.

No problems with 1942 Lancaster Tour of Duty - Flying PURE WAW no other mods needed.  Absolutely BRILLIANT campaign and its great to see more campaign/mission builders of this quality working with 412 FMB.  A MASTERPIECE!

Difficulty Settings.  These can be set quickly through QMB and they will be remembered by the rest of the sim after that.

You need realistic landings etc, basically set everything to realistic except for views, I still like to look outside, and 'no instant success', keep that off.  Then go back to the campaign and the mission will start properly.

Hey dudes, just re-installed the old IL2 and discovered this phenomenal mod, I was quite into the old modding back in the day, so I am catching up again, now what I am remembering was that there was a campaign back in the day for the Luftwaffe that went from Poland to Berlin, is that still around, and with the planes and maps we have available is there anyway or place or anyone working on a Spanish Civil War to Berlin campaign? Because that would blow my mind.

@Zoring, you should try "Years of Triumph". It starts in Spain and takes you through a great part of the WWII, Don´t remember though if it takes you all the way back to Berlin!

1.) No, it just takes you to the eve of "Barbarossa", June 1941.
2.) The starting SCW segment requires some aircraft not currently in CUP, no  :-\\ But eventually (if time can be found) I hope to update this whole campaign. And hopefully by then I will be fully CUP-compatible myself  :)

Hi everybody,
same error for me, with Monty27's Flying Tiger campaign (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35546.0.html). First I removed "_ru" from mission filenames, and now the text briefings is ok but still the "arming" button doesn't work and the mission starts with a almost-blank screen...
like this:

Thanks

I just tested and all the missions load properly in my install.  Maybe, deactivate all your mods and see if it works.  If so, add them back one at a time.

IIRC that campaign was designed for DBW 4.10 and the first mission needs a F6C..i am not sure that this one is included in WAW...

F6C???  Are we talking about two different missions here?  The first mission is a C-47 flight from Mingaladon to Toungoo.  Also, CUP does includes the F6C4Hawk.  The Flying Tigers campaign that I am running and that was referenced was originally made by Monty for "The Full Monty" mod.
Title: Re: C.U.P. Campaigns to be found here!
Post by: Griffon_301 on June 15, 2015, 12:57:06 PM
ah ok, so I did not quite remember correctly :) then it must be the second mission that is that gunnery training in the F6C :)
well, but TFM was designed for 4.10 and what I have posted about the campaign conversion woes is still the same, read through that thread to get a better picture why certain 4.10 campaigns designed for TFM will not work out of the box in CUP!

the issue that was posted here might be a missing plane, a loadout for a plane that is not available or other things like missing chiefs, etc...;
the best way to check is to load the mission that does not work in FMB in CUP and see what errors creep up during loading...there might be none but there also might be quite a lot of them...

UPDATE: first two missions of the Flying Tigers campaign from Monty load just fine on my side, only issue is some missing AAA Gaz vehicles in mission 2 (Uthe gunnery training in the F6C) but thats it, doesnt stop the missions from loading....

I strongly suggest you to reinstall CUP at some time, maybe with fresh new downloads ; with such a big pack 90% of the game could be ok with some corrupted files anyway. First time I had problems with a few maps and the game crashing when quitting. Reinstalling CUP solved most of the problem...

I am trying some campaigns from other platforms, here is the list:
"Luftwaffe Pilot: Afrika!" by Flatspinman ver 4.09
"The Debden Eagles" of the Mustang Legends series ver 4.121
"Armhem and Antwerp" by CorkerHam ver 4.122
"Typhoons over Normandy" by Poltava ver 4.122  CUP
BTW all of the above campaigns are at M4T, there is also a link to Poltava's campaigns on page 1 for CUP, 3 in all.
So far I am a happy camper, er campaigner ;D.

I have also downloaded some other campaigns from different platforms of IL2 1946 such as DBW and TFM, but have not tried them yet.

Hi everybody,
yesterday I installed the Philk's trilogy Hell in the Pacific in my IL2 CUP-modded install, and it seems running ok.
I've only started the first mission of each campaign, took off and flew a few minute, but nothing strange happened. Only Guam is started with a dramatic drop of FPS, but I think is due to my old PC.

you can find it at M4T:

Just my two cents worth here.  Monty's Battle of Britain campaign runs fine (mostly) in CUP.  There are some missions that won't load, but I had trouble with some of them not loading in TFM either.  I just tell them "Apply" and go ahead on.  But for the most part it does fine.

Hello,
about the problem with the loading of La Chute map, I solved the problem by adding a tex file in the mapmods/maps of WAW, the structure beeing: tex/water/PacificBlue.tga. I got the PacificBlue.tga by copying the PacificBlueTL.tga and removing theTL. As far as I remember  I found the tex folder in one of the La Chute map. I hope it will help.

Sorry if the tip has been passed on but this is what I do with "Blinding Sun" (USSR-VVS stock campaign) in #WAW-CUP:
Almost all the missions are running fine in gorgeous CUP but every 6 or 7 missions, there is one that crashes (exploding planes, etc ...).
So I keep my cool  :-\ , select "quit" without choosing "Apply". I exit the game, change the settings of the selector to "5.30 Modact" instead of CUP, start the game et voila! I can run the mission (without the bells and whistles of CUP) and then switch back to CUP for the next one.
This would also work for campaigns done for HSFX if you had it installed in the same folder as CUP.

Have had a quick look at the Cold Winter (Blinding Sun) missions and note that several don't fully load - aircraft Ju 87D3 , Ju 87 D5 and Ju 87 G1 are changed in CUP To Ju87 D3j , Ju 87 D5j , and Ju87G1j - check air.ini in STD - and so cause aircraft to explode ; similarly the 4xSC50  bombs are now 4xSC70  for Ju87D5j : mission files need to be altered : in addition , if memory is correct, mission28 needs player aircraft moving slightly to avoid crashing . So you have the option of updating mission files and staying in CUP Mode .Best wishes - Trev.

I'll join Hairog in this question. At the moment I'm flying, and thoroughly enjoying, Poltava's Finnish Front campaign. I would love to find not only CUP-compatible Jet Age campaigns, especially covering the Viet Nam period, but Dawn of Flight campaigns as well.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank Poltava here for help with a campaign installation problem. Had I paid closer attention to the instructions, I would have thought to change the file name so that there were no spaces.  :-[

Tanglechute error?

Has been dealt with here already....check if solution posted there helps you too

Hi Phil, thanks for your suggestion. Looking around and searching for "Tanglechute error" I found this solution by Dechiper in this topic:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,47063.msg522687.html#msg522687

this is a special case... this bug is caused by the optional visualmod that you can activate in JSGME.

to fix: disable all visualmods in JSGME.
if you want (like me and many others) still use the brilliant visualmod, download a clean version from SAS (either version 8 or 9) and install that.

i am not sure why the CUP included visualmods were not updated yet, this bug was reported several times, but it should work as described above.

This afternoon I will try to disable all visual mod and I will try again. I will report the results.

Ciao.

Marco

Well, I disabled  #CUP_visualmod8_V4122 and #CUP_visualmod9_V4122. I start the campaign Finnish front and it seems to works fine, first mission ok.

Many thanks for all! Ciao!

Hello Marco!

glad I could help :)
in case you want to have the Viz Mod, try and download the mod from the appropriate thread here...my vizMod V9 works as advertised most of the time that way, but to be honest, I can also live without it...
whats more interesting is that SweetFx thingie that was promoted here a few weeks ago, that really ups the ante with regard to the beauty of this sim....

Hi Phil, for the moment I prefer to play without any visMod, though the text in the dropdown menus of QMB are too wide and the entire line is not fully visible. But as you said me too can live without it... ;)

I hope next release of visualmods may works better for all CUP enthusiasts...

Ciao!

Marco

Hi guys, well Finnish campaign is over, really enjoyable!!

Now I am playing with Battle for France and it appear very nice! Just two question:
Quote
Note that as a C.U.P. user you will have to download this additional material:

1.   The MB-152 (plus the stationary aircraft entries for the ini files found in the download). You can D/L it here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30589.0.htmlhttps://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30589.0.html
2.   The LeO-451 (plus the stationary aircraft entries for the ini files found in the download). You can D/L it here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,32853.0.html
3.   The Self Stationary version of the Potez 540 series. You can D/L it here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15399.0.html

Many thanks for your replies! Ciao!

My new campaign "Onwards to Stalingrad!" has just been posted:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2250

Can someone confirm that it works in C.U.P. if just the extension "_ru" is removed? Then I can simply do a C.U.P. version. Having my fingers crossed here... Thanks in advance!  :)

Ho Ho Ho, merry Christmas, o great campaign creator!
I cannot remember if you have CUP installed or not.

If you do, did you run a test to see if the objects/planes/loads are in sync with CUP .ini files?

Not sure if you remember, we had a post about it at https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,45182.msg530561.html#msg530561
With 45 missions, this is the way to go.

I've had another confirmation that "Onwards to Stalingrad!" seems to work in CUP.  :) (I don't know first hand, as I don't have CUP, yet.)

But then you have to replace all files with the extension "*_ru.properties" with the corresponding files that you find in the special folder in the download marked "For CUP".  :)

Dear Poltava,
I had fun to run your campaign France 1940 D520, the Dewoitine is a fine aircraft in comparison with the MB 152 which flies like a flat-iron. Unfortunately with CUP up to 18B, on the 7th mission the plane is on the belly. As far as I remember I met no problem with the previous version of CUP or SAS. What would you recommend? I have read the log.text but I am not able to decipher it.
Thank you and best regards.

Dear Poltava,
could you please check one of the missions I don't remember exactly which one, I think it was over Sedan, I could check if you want, in which there is a huge lot of aircrafts, british, french and german resulting in a desperating low fps?
Best regards and thank you.

I think I guess what mission you are talking about: the big attack on the German bridges over the Meuse.

I'll see what I can do. Perhaps reduce some of the ground activity and the AAA fire.

The updated 4.12 version of this campaign is soon ready BTW  :)

While staying on this topic... If you need to to improve FPS, what kind of objects/activities will you sacrifice the first?
Probably in this order, what do you think?
1. Parachutes
2. Quick fire flak (as Wiberlwind).
3. Explosions
4. Flak other
5. Artillery other
6. Aircrafts
7. Moving vehicles/ships

Dimlee,

That is a good list, actually. (Not least a LOT of chutes can take a big bite out of your FPS.) And as long as the mission is not a ground-pounding one, moving vehicles can be reduced as well.

Now my old D.520 campaign has been updated to modded 4.12 standards. (As I only use HSFX at the moment - sorry! - I don't know if it works in CUP, but I really hope so!)

(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Poltava/000_new_d520_zpsziduxl9d.jpg) (http://s163.photobucket.com/user/Poltava/media/000_new_d520_zpsziduxl9d.jpg.html)

So now you get to fly F_Red's amazing Dewoitine D.520 in the Battle for France! This campaign is essentially a remake of my "Battle for France" (4.12) campaign for the MB.152, but with a number of additions and adjustments. E.g. there are fewer escort missions (the MB.152 was in contrast with the D.520 primarily used as an escort), the opposition is a bit tougher and there are more missions with random elements.

You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1687

Thanks for looking!  :)

The text on mission4today is a little confusing because it says it is for HSFX 7.0.3

Can we use it for both ?

As I wrote on M4T: "It might work in CUP as well. I hope so but don't know ATM."

This update is done after a request. And I did it on the 4.12 system I use currently, and as I don't use CUP (yet) I don't know if it works there. Just try it and see!  :)

I have been flying the CUP version of Operation Taifun. Mission 1 was fine. Mission 2 gave me the old aircraft exploding on the runway problem. Missions 3, 4 and 5 all start fine again. I have tried everything I can think of ( load-out conflicts, plane type, wrong objects etc. ) to get 2 to work but no luck. There is an object in the mission that FMB tells me doesn't exist in CUP but if I remove it, it makes no difference.

Anyone had the same or similar problem? Any ideas for a solution?

Edit: solved my problem. But the mystery deepens! The Ju-88s had a load-out in the mission file that doesn't exist. The odd thing is I checked the load-out against the weapon.ru file and there was 6x250 bombs just as the mission file said. So I thought there was no problem there but when I check in the quick mission builder that load-out doesn't exist. When I changed 6 to 4 everything worked fine. But why does weapon.ru contain a load-out that doesn't exist?

Really great, Poltava!! However, I don't see any mission briefings. Must have something to do with the properties.ru file?

Thanks for help!!
Title: Re: C.U.P. Campaigns to be found here!
Post by: SAS~Poltava on March 19, 2016, 01:47:57 PM
Yes indeed, that's a thing that differs between HSFX and CUP. For the file with the briefings HSFX uses the old mod suffix " ... ru.properties", while CUP for some reason uses the same suffix as the un-modded, stock game: "... .properties".

I will provide a CUP version eventually, but in the meanwhile use a program like "Bulk Rename Utility" to simply rename those files from "... ru.properties" to "... .properties". Or do it manually.  :)

Well, there has been some changes in CUP that can hurt backward compatability, but why only the creators of CUP can explain.

Good to hear that you found the culprit. Yes: the exploding aircraft on the runway-bug is almost always connected to a loud-out not supported by the game version used.

Title: Re: C.U.P. Campaigns to be found here!
Post by: SAS~Poltava on March 26, 2016, 04:41:43 PM
Tartenmuche,

I can't really say, as I don't have CUP. These campaigns run fine with high FPS in my rig, which is pretty old. They have been built with DBW 1.71. The problem can be that there are often many aircraft in the air at the same time, and also, in some of them, many AA guns.

I understand that having many aircraft in the air at the same time in CUP can be problematic. It could also be that you lack some crucial unit: for instance "Baby Blitz" and the Potez Campaign are Night fighting campaign (at least partially), that both uses a number of functions that can only be found in the C&C Mod. That could be the answer.

Notice that neither of these campaigns have been "CUP certified". They are, technically speaking, still DBW 1.71/4.10 campaigns. And there is a problem in CUP with the backward compatibility, so a lot of older campaign material will not work in CUP. At least if it hasn't gone through a deliberate CUP update.

I have been playing the On to Stalingrad campaign and greatly enjoy it but I should mention some more explosions. This time it seems not to be weaponry but a question of aircraft spawning where there are objects. I seem to remember that the missions called Blau and Wilhelm were especially affected. Most of the time there seemed to be objects on spawn points or in the way of aircraft taxiing. I wonder if the Donbas map was revised after you created the OTS campaign. I hope you won't think I am just a moaner. I feel it is almost a duty to tell a campaign-maker about such problems. I stress that I think your campaigns are great.

Thanks for the heads-up Airbourne!

The campaign has been built in HSFX, and as I don't have CUP I haven't been able to confirm myself that the campaign actually works 100% in CUP. Others have told us so.

Now, I know from my "Abbeville Boys" campaign that there are some strange and/or subtle differences between CUP and HSFX that I can't explain, that seems to affect the size of some common objects (or placement of hit boxes - I don't know), meaning for instance that an aircraft can start from under under a specific masking net in HSFX, but it will come in contact with the same net in CUP, and in worse case explode.

Try opening the problematic missions in FMB and move the offending objects out of the way  :-|

Most of the objects concerned are part of the map, not added in FMB. In bad cases I just re-design the take-off in FMB. If only one plane is affected, I fly the mission anyway and it is just a bit harder because my staffel is one plane short. Nevertheless I have been awarded the Knight's Cross which I don't recall ever happening before in more than ten years of playing the game!

Then this is really getting strange. A map re-design could be the answer. You say you see aircraft after aircraft just slamming into pre-existing map objcts?  :o

That's right. Sometimes they spawn where there is already an object and so they explode.

Then some kind of map revision must have been made. Curioser and curioser, said Alice.  o_O

Yep, I had the same issue as Airborne and used the same work around. From memory the exploding plane problem stared after mission 6.

Mikojan, so you have not had the same problems as Airbourne, with aircraft taking off into map objects?

Boelcke's westfront campaign works in cup (mostly) make sure to change the H75_A2 to H75_A3 though
