In the meantime the AAA team (BBury/Gibbage/Monguse) made more P38s and these , plus the previous ones were taken up in HSFX/UP.
I have meant for some time to extract them and present them to manual installers, and here at last is my attempt.
I rewrote classfiles to eliminate unneeded classes, and to consolidate cockpit 3d use to stock cockpits, and consolidate 3d models to those needed for the mod to work. Removed desert default skins (which were copies of Summer default skins anyway). Re assembled Multi Slot E F G H comunal 3d model, so that it would display national markings. Had to make some small consessions to 3d model for that to work, nothing too dramatic though.
Result is, this collection is , uncompressed, about 61MB, whereas it would have been about 330MB at its current size. What you give up for this is some possible individualised defaults skins, but they were all duplicates of each other anyway, so, not realy a big loss.
I did all this to lighten this pack, and so to make its footprint on my drive smaller.
I also included my contrail fix into this already (not for the stock 38s, only for these.)
v1.1: Birdman fixed some serious skin problems, and also fixed some nagging LOD issues.S!

Only requirement is that you have to have SAS weapons classes, or at least this patch:
Guys who do not have SAS gunmods, here is a patch. This derives from the AAA weaponsmod. You will see it is very small and contains only classfiles. They have been fixed to now use universal sounds and effects, so, no conflicts.

As mentioned in the original thread, thanks to AAA for making the new planes available and to Gaston for going through the initial extraction.
FAQ: UP users dont need this (I think). No idea whats in HSFX, and yes, this replaces the ones from Gastons Extraction also.
I did not yet test this collection for a long time, so please report faults.

EDIT: Since I removed the desert Skinfolder, it would have been cool if I also changed the "DESERT" in the air.ini to "SUMMER", but dont worry, this should not affect you at all.

Cirx, just checking, you say the D/L should be about 59MB...when I try to D/L, it says it's 3.7MB....might want to check the upload out, mate... ???

Now I can easily see why the inner wings never get any bullet holes and why there are so many LOD issues.
There really aren't any damage materials used in the WingIn meshes, and the Msh converter LOD value bug is striking again.
Someone could fix those and make a fixed version. (Or should I take some time to fix those?) Luckily, there are now a lot less files to fix.
P.S. There are smoothed engines for stock late P-38s (and Beaufighter :) ) available as a part of this modpack at AAA

Someone may like the smoothed 3d and adapt it also to these ones, but unfortunately there are some hier.him issues with divebrake hiding in wing and holes in tail.

Edit: Got the fixes from Birdman, as well as 2 serious skin bugs he spotted. Since they were serious I stayed up and updated the mod immediately to v1.1. I suggest all redownload that one. S! to Birdman!

Yeah my favorite fighter in the PT.
Heres a little question for the damage mod experts. Have you ever seen the P38 still flying but with one of its complete tail and rudder assemblies missing in the game due to damage? It looks really bad. You have the boom meeting the rear stabiliser but nothing joining the two. Can this be fixed sometime in the future?

this pack is the only one available.
it is cut out from UP/HSFX - you would need either of those packs to get them, but with this pack, it's obviously not necessary. 8)

Maybe he (tevtonets) means that he wants a "non-light" cut off of the package: he wants every single one of those 330MB Cirx mentioned.

More space demand does not automatically equal more quality, people need to realize that. In fact many aircraft mod just waste unnecessary space such as the Spitfire Mk.VIII fighter bombers (they actually dont need any new 3D files, hooks and such are all there already by default) and many others...

These new Lightnings have "accurate names" (i.e. P-38J-10-LO) Can someone specify which versions are stock planes ? P-38J... P-38L... P-38L Late...

I affraid that stock Lightnings maybe just approximatelly close to the original ones, not really specific subtypes.

Is this E has or has not automatic coolant radiator control? Because this collection's E has. Which is actually not historic I think, auto coolant introduced with the H model. Would someone fix the E in this feature?

Any way one can just get the P-38E out of this pack? I already have all the rest of them. I don't want to risk messing up anything else. This is for UP2.01 over 4.09m. When I downlaoded this a couple of years ago, the E model was not in it. But if someone assures me it's really the same performance-wise as the F, then I'll forget it. I think in the actual war the E was only flown a little bit in the Aleutian islands. Then was quickly replaced by the F. But I might want it if it's really different than the F.

I changed the default skin, in the right way (skin1o.tga 1M, skin1p.tga 64k, skin1q.tga 1k, skin1o.tgb 4M) it work, but no canopy frame, black head/back armor plate and no control wheel. Anyone has any idea what should I do to work with the new skin? Thanks!

what´s wrong with my installation? only loadouts of P38 E are available in the menue. other types show nothing but "empty"

For what it's worth...APPARENTLY working in version 4.09 without any modifications to the files, provided that you have the AAA weapons pack installed. Have not yet done thorough testing on loadouts etc but I can load them in and shred Zeroes with them.
