Title: C.U.P. Chocks MOD with assistants [updated 2016/01/28] [CUP]
Post by: benitomuso on April 14, 2015, 08:00:21 AM
Chocks MOD by PAL

Special version for C.U.P. (implemented for the SAS Engine MOD included on it)!

*** Updated to Current C.U.P. versions as for 2016/01/28 ***

Hot recent new features: Carrier Devices.

Do you remember the two guys of the Chocks MOD?

They are becoming smarter. Now they are quite more similar to land personel, they make company to you until you leave the airfield staring at you, etc.

Collaboration required: somebody who could texturize properly these two not to look as pilots. Some 3D changes with a real neutral standing position will be appreciated too!!!

Updated on 2016/01/28, Full implemented Catapult Cable Device and corrected operation in Carriers:

Updated on 2015/06/05, Texturizable Land Assistants:

(http://s3.postimg.cc/62dqvr6g3/2015_06_05_at_11_03_41.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/6f551xopr/full/)

Now the two assistants use a different texture of that one of the Pilots. So you will find two textures in these locations:

3do\humans\LandAux\Germany
3do\humans\LandAux\Russia

I have used the "Glamorous Glenn" pilot texture here, because their clothes are quite neutral. But a good real dedicated skin would be very impotant, with an overall, and without any pilot helmet.

(http://s1.postimg.cc/6g79vv2lr/pilot1.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

A Little more sophistication for the Assistants:

Now it is different between multi-engine and single engined planes.

In multi engined ones, the guys run perpendicular to the plane to avoid propellers:

(http://s12.postimg.cc/6g8sxpiwt/2015_06_06_at_06_40_13.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/5dymf603d/full/)

But in single engined ones, they run to 35deg in advance to avoid wings:

(http://s12.postimg.cc/y65dyn7r1/2015_06_05_at_11_03_41.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/78bgwwn3t/full/)

Their behaviour was improved too:

They start running as stated before
(http://s16.postimg.cc/fxcmpejt1/2015_06_06_at_06_40_53.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/wl44rwekh/full/)

After having reached the border of the runway

They start walking parallel to the plane some more meters
(http://s16.postimg.cc/6qyxfv3yd/2015_06_06_at_06_41_32.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/uupp45mf5/full/)

And finally they wait for you to leave the airport staring at you

It has all the features you already had (in U.P. stock) none less, no new.

Chocks and assistants don't appear in carriers!

Pablo:

Thanks for updating the chocks mod.

Unfortunately, I do not see them when activating it in JSGME in a clean install with no other mods activated.

The folder is as follows;

E:\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 4.12.2CUP\jsgmemods\#CUP_Palbos_Chocks2\#WAW\00_PAL-ChocksMOD(forCUP)

I may be brain farting but I'm pretty sure I have it installed correctly.

thx

Indeed. The problem is the loading order as usual. This mod has to be loaded before the engine mod. Try to rename the folder like this "! 00_PAL-ChocksMOD(forCUP)", it works for me.

In CUP the Engine Mod is loaded inside the core of the WAW or whatever version. But as Korrigan says, it seems to be a precedence problema on loading.

Thanks Pablo, its great to see these guys back!

It is wonderful to actually see the Chocks in place.

Startup then Chocks-Away, there they go!

Previous conflict with Carrier Cats has been resolved.

So now we have the best of both worlds.

The Jet Age uses another variation of SAS Engine MOD, which requires Western's patch, and so unfortunately this version of the Chocks Mod is not yet compatible with the JTW module.

They are fine in DoF and also work with the new 'Golden Age' module currently undergoing final testing.

I think, for ease of implementation, the existing mod should be integrated into future updates of DoF and WaW right away.

This is a very cool mod.
It would be excellent if,  down the road , the personnel were wearing mechanics/fitters coveralls , rather than pilot gear.

Hello again, Marko.

Just put this mod into your #WAW or whatever folder. Make sure it loads before the engine mod by renaming to !00_PAL-ChocksMod(forCUP)

Check the updated first post:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,45743.0.html

Now it can be easily texturizable.

But we need someone who could ellaborate a good skins (I only choosed some temporary ones) for:

3do\humans\LandAux\Germany\Pilot1.tga
3do\humans\LandAux\Russia\Pilot1.tga

Hi Bergkamp, many thanks for your reply! Unfortunately it doesn't works for me... I tried to put the renamed folder in my #waw folder but any guys runs in and/or out my plane...

I renamed the folder first to !00_PAL-ChocksMod(forCUP) and then ! 00_PAL-ChocksMod(forCUP) (space between exclamation mark and double 0) but without results...

Have you an idea to solve this trouble, please?

Many thanks! Ciao.

Mark. Excuse the obvious question. Do you have a key assigned to "chocks in, chocks out" in the controls section? If so, select F2 for outside view and chocks in key. You should then see chocks "in" as per pic in reply #7. Hit chocks key again and you should see chocks away and figures running. If not, I'm lost.

Master Ranwers, that one is very nice!

Could you share it please?

Regarding carriers: it is quite complicated to make it work on them. I have made a couple of attempts, but the walking pilot and these ones would require a lot of code and intervention to make it possible to get them attached and moving to a deck.

But your one could be easily adaptable to other scenarios.

Hi Bergkamp,
obviously yes, I have a key assigned to chocks in/out (shift B), and I check with F2 (external view) when I test for the good function of chocks in/out, exactly as per reply #7, but no guys for my plane... :(...

Thanks for all your suggestions! Ciao.

Version with updated naval devices in first post

I decided to revisit the CTO Mod. I don't know exactly why the original MOD written by Fireball decided to implement the catapult force into the EngineInterface class, as if it was an extra thrust coming from the engines. It essentially did the trick, but it was absolutely weird!

I reverted the EngineInterface class to the stock one, and did what from my point of view should have always had been the approach: that the Engine class made a real pull from the plane. Now you will see how your plane is stressed by the effect of the catapult. Now chocks appear in carriers, and a placeholder catapult gear cable was implemented. To see them you need to configure this in the Conf.ini:

a question - i have not yet installed CUP (yes, shame on me, lol) but i'd like to know if this would work on my Modact 530 install?
should i just go ahead and try, or do you advise against it?

It should work. This is the Gear class of the Engine MOD with several changes and additions, but there aren't specific incompatibilties as far as I know.

With the 3D help of Tomoose I've been working on this:

(http://s15.postimg.cc/iad46b6y3/2015_09_16_at_04_16_02.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/jpeov1813/full/)

Basically I have tried to implement the several systems there currently are for towing planes. The most typical one used was the represented above, explained here:

(http://s11.postimg.cc/7p6acwvwz/A_4bridle_Arrest_Detail_Forum.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

But there are others. It is relatively complex to model all of them and to make any of them fit any plane, but I'm trying to do the best possible. The problema is to being able to automatically select this other type of towing system:
