Dear all,
Here is the F7F-3 Tigercat "SAS Edition", based on the FM release, which in turn is based on an Alphasim Freeware Model.
This one has been brought to you to resolve a couple of bugs and glitches in the FM release version, with several modifications (loadout options, flight model, classes) and with unrelated things removed, in order to seemlessly fit this mod into existing installations of any type.
The F7F-3 has initially been released at Freemodding, credit for bringing the plane into IL-2 belongs to the FM team.
This mod has been created with improvements and better compatibility in mind.

tHANK YOU FOR SHARE theMiSfiT, VERY GOOD WORK!
-
This aircraft does not interest me because it was not involved in the WWII.
But I want to (big) thank you for your effort to the Rebels! ;)
-
Great addon. I have already tested this. I have to say that it's a big lose that we hadn't planes like this 10 years ago instead of those '46 things...
-
Thanks Fly. Nice skin.
-
Awesome work 8), theMiSfiT, Thank you!
Best regards,

Excellent!!!
-
Ty for this new joy!

Great plane, flies great: it seems there's something sticking out from the cockpit when pilot turns his head. I noticed a lot of commented out lines in heir.him. Anyone else see this?
-
Yes- there's a strange "growth" on the left side of the cockpit canopy, which appears intermittently- I'll post a picture later. It comes and goes, and I'm not sure what "makes" it.
-
I waited for it
:) Thank you :)

Yes- there's a strange "growth" on the left side of the cockpit canopy, which appears intermittently- I'll post a picture later. It comes and goes, and I'm not sure what "makes" it.
It's the oxygen mask values in heir.him: it's much larger than scale and at a 90 degree angle..
-
Oh yes, that's one of the side effects from Barnesy's pilots.
They use vastly unproportional dimensions, the head gets shrinked and the mask enlarged from hier.him editing, plus the orientation doesn't match anymore.
Guess that's a leftover from those pilots.
For the time being, until this makes it into an "official" update, you can use the patch with new hier.him attached to this post.
Best regards - Mike

Marvellus new Cat...
Working with my 4.10.1 UR3RC4 plus patch pack and AutoDiff Fm. Also confirmed 4.12.2, former TFM412 flying. Both are heavy modded enviroment...
Great bomber killer, also very dangerous opponent of smaller ships.
-
Great Job!
-
How could I have missed my second favorite plane release? So glad this beauty got released!
-
I don't want to seem rude, but shouldn't some more credit be given to the work of the chaps over at FM? I mean they did make this aircraft (except for the model that is). I just think some credits should be mentioned in the post, SAS version or not.
-
How much more than the full original credits can one give?
The SAS version ships with a brief credit list, note the last line:
Credits:
- Original Model: Alphasim
- IL-2 Slot: FM Team
- Further Improvements: SAS Team
Original FM credits file shipped with this pack.
When you download the mod, you can check the original full credits file and it reads like this:

I think someone has been "confused" by the mis-information that is being put out in certain places.
G;

It seems so. New war?
-
Nope, no war.
We do not care for war, just mods.

Yep well said old friend, all we do at SAS is modding and more modding :)
-
And the occasional screenshot competition ;)
-
Awesome work guys, thank you very much, greatly appreciated. 8)
Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Updated Version available in first post.
Version 1.01:
- Pilot Mask Bug fixed
- Flight Model improved
- Self Stationary Planes added
In order to hopefully cool down the atmosphere at certain places, it has been additionally stressed that this mod is based on the FM release of the F7F-3 mod, whose credit belongs to FM.
On that opportunity the "alleged unexistent" improvements have been enlisted in a separate file too.
Best regards - Mike

Sorry if it sounds as noob's question.
Installation instructions (readme.txt) do not mention CUP users.
I tried to use #SAS folder, but didn't succeed to get F7F3 in the game.
Then I used #WAW folder, but game crashed at 65% when launched.
Where should I download/install if I use CUP (WAW only) ?
Thanks in advance.
-
Hi Dimlee,
C.U.P. users can install the F7F Tigercat in any module's folder of their choice.
In your case for WAW it would be the #WAW folder.
I have just tried this and it works flawlessly.
If it doesn't work for you, please post your logfile contents.
See here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13457.0.html
for further details about how to get your logfile contents.

Thank you, Mike.
I have tried again and paid more attention. It does work fine now.
Sexy plane with interesting FM. I feel like flying hybride of my two favorites: P-38 and FW-190.
:)

This kitty has some sharp teeth, and a great flight model as well.
Thanks to everyone that made this long awaited aircraft come to IL-2
-
still catching up in the forums after a lengthy absence, and just found this beauty - awesome, awesome, awesome!
a huge thanks from me to all involved in bringing this plane to the IL-2 skies! :D
-
Is F7F the best piston engined fighter in IL2 universe?
I have a lot fun fighting La-7 aces offline. 1 vs 2 not a problem. 1 vs 4 is hard but manageable.
I wonder how she would stand against La-9.
-
The best? Depends on the mission I suppose. Most fun? In my opinion...YES!

Well, I can hardly imagine the mission where she will not excel, unless jets are on the same map. Interception (of everything, incl Tu-4/B-29), dogfight, straffing... So fast at any altitude and ROC is surprisingly high.
-
WOW What a Beauty Thanks for this,it's been a long time coming.
-
any news on a template, UVW unwrap or such? anything to help a poor skinner.... :)
i guess i can start building a template from scratch - seems the only thing this plane is missing is some nice skins. :D
-
Hopefully, this plane will be included in one of CUP releases? It's not there yet.

Thank you, Mike.

For me P-38s, P-51s and FW-190A-3-9 atm for props. :D
Great FM in this version Mike.

I have a request for any cockpit capable modder or IL-2 fan, also to the creator(s) of this mod, if you drop by ;):
I try for private fun to add a vivid canopy reflection into the pit, for the sake of my balls I cannot identify the texture responsible for the dark tint inside the pit. I tried exchanging a few, even adding new values to the respective mats, to no joy...any tip welcomed!
Cheers
Tom
PS
This is weird, I am a complete dumbass as modder :D, but usually when I KNOW there is a canopy effect like tint, darkness etc, I can find it..
Edit: The reason I take it Barnesy12 or whoever made the initial cockpit added a tint is that there is a subtle but noticable difference when watching the landscape outside and back in the pit, same when the canopy is moved into the slide open posit.
Would love to add that and a mirror to this plane.
-
The responsible files are glass_reflections.mat and glass_reflections.tga.
Best regards - Mike
-
Thank you Mike,
I already had them on my editing list.
But editing them does exactly nothing, so I assume some deeper involvement of mesh files. ;)
Cheers

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the place for this question, but here goes.
--- comment deleted ---
Edit by Admin : You know it is not.
There is a request section which, oddly enough, is where people put requests However, I doubt any modder here would respond to a request to touch this "copyrighted" ;) aircraft
This aircraft is offered "as is", warts and all so to speak, it is not an SAS mod - please read the first post.
-
Well, apologies, then.
I did not 'know' it was not the place, hence my first statement. I did read the rules at the request section, and misunderstood about posting there for new mods only, and continuing older mods in their respective thread. Since this aircraft is posted here, says 'SAS Edition' in the first post, and included in the BAT install, I only thought appropriate to ask here. I know you must get tired of newcomer questions, but please try to imagine the excitement of opening a well mod-packaged long forgotten game, seeing what's available, and simply asking a question about further modification. After about 10 hours of reading through here and every manual just to make sure I didn't post something stupid, I suppose I must have.
Like I mentioned in my edited post, I'm new and didn't want to open a can of worms. Is posting the original question in the right section appropriate? My end goal is to contribute a campaign based on an aircraft included in your package, and just had a question about it. I was apprehensive to post about it, so I guess that's that.
Thanks and apologies again.
-
Apologies accepted then ... ;)
The practice of taking other's work or basic models and "copyrighting" them by some sites/modders has already opened a family sized can of worms.. you can of course post a request in the appropriate section ... AFAIK this is the only case where a mod like this was updated by the team here to correct some fundamental flaws and the resulting fall out was not worth the trouble at the end of the day... so IMHO best just to walk away from it.

:( An opinion please ?

No idea. The log shows no useful information, it simply ends where the mission is supposed to play.
I've just tested it on a plain vanilla UP2 + QMBPro + F7F, works fine, here is my log:

I forgot to specify that Windows opens a modal window saying: "Break Point encountered"
I have not made any changes in the code ...
-
As I said, it works for me and the log and error message doesn't tell a thing, so I'm sorry but without any hints from logs or error messages and without a chance to reproduce the error, I have no idea how to help here.
Best regards - Mike

I know ! I'll check the code ... :-X

Did you install the torpedoe for 409 ? Mk.13 late Torpedo for 4.09m Rebels v1.00 first post.

Did you install the torpedoe for 409 ? Mk.13 late Torpedo for 4.09m Rebels v1.00 first post.
Yes, tks ! ;)
I think I found the cause.
Some of the code does not seem to be appreciated by the 409!
And yet the Java compiler does not detect any errors.
-
@Hubberranz Thanks for report !
If you have the same error as this planes (F7F-3 & F7F-3N):
For F7F-3 and F7F-3N !
Open in Plane folder the hier.him file, search [VatorR_D1] tab and :
instead of :
