Title: Drone (UAV) "What if..." [4.10] [4.12] [4.13]
Post by: Bison_M on November 18, 2015, 03:03:10 PM
This idea originated long ago. I think not only me. :)    (Post edited 15-11-2024)

What if...

Now the game is enough modern aircraft. Why not add the UAV?

First, I decided to use the Go-229 having the form flying wing.
The most used form in modern times for the UAV.
I used a 3D model from Paulus - with permission of the author and thank him for Go-229-1966!

I made a small change:
Removed pilot and canopy glazing.

(https://i.postimg.cc/5NvSjYB3/2024-11-15-09-28-53.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/N5sHz0P9)

Change the position of the landing gear wheels and replaced by more modern.
I moved the nose landing gear forward and got an extra bottom compartment weapons.

(https://i.postimg.cc/K8D7r6s3/2024-11-15-09-29-15.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/zy3RqcNq)

And other minor changes in 3D.

Now the model uses a slot - Go229 A1.

Cockpit remained unchanged, so for now recommend use mode "Ctrl + F1":

It would be good to create a ground control station, to make sure that in the event of the collapse of the UAV pilot not died , and add modern weapons.
In fact, as a valid slot UAV reconnaissance now (not including machine guns). :-|
That is probably all.

Installation: unzip into your mods folder.

Select a Go-229 A1.

Unfortunately, I do not know the author's skin, which is used as default (with minor modifications)

The rest:

Thanks IL2 Maddox games and Dadalos team,

Paulus for Go-229-1966

and all those who do not in this list

Best wishes ;)

Thank you.

In addition, I want to say that if you have GO 229-1966, you can use the drone in the slot of GO-229 by Paulus.

Only need to rename from ...3do\plane\Go-229A-1 to ...3do\plane\Go-229-1966

Best wishes.

Great idea!
I dont know how our masters made the SAS Jetman (miniaturised Go-229 basically...)
So a similar way miniaturised Go-229 UAV also become a great idea. Jetman without pilot under, but with wheels, take off and landing via normal way. Instead of lasers a pair of 7,62mm machine guns. Due to its minimal size, very difficult to observe and hit(but an machine gun bullet destroys it...)and represents a smaller category of UAVs. Also have even a Mini X-4. How made it Storebror??? Mini-Sidewinder also possible? Also, modern target drones are very similar!
About cockpit-Fi-282 cockpit in game are very UAV-like feeling-you sit basically a chair in midair, with minimum frames around and an simple crosshairs added. (I think to change cockpit are not very easy...) Jetman "cockpit" also usable idea.
Thanks your and your mates work!

Good morning! I am back! :)
Also have an idea how possible to made an franken UAV, every parts already in game, the machine represents an MQ-9 Reaper category UAV/UCAV. Have more classical look, but UAVs are around us since WWII... Write in here, or under requests/suggestions?

Tnx. This version is based on the Do -335.

There propeller transferred back, elongated wings and added radar dome on the nose.

Installation:

Unzip in your mods folder and select Do-335 A-0

Enjoy

Yes, great idea with Go-229-1966...Only "too fast" for an X-45/47 like UAV, but fun!
Also, i tested the Black Sea Gull-old SAS G-11 based mod. It works under 4.12.2 modact, so we have an povered glider as UAV basis...

Auto, you rename the folder Go-229A-1(in the downloaded UAV pack) into Go-229-1966? And, also, you have any modern jets? To got weapons for Go-229-1966 you need JetWar 1.2 minimum, and jets like F-4 Phantom II...

hi new drones are not a bad idea at all I'm flying in the air over Ukraine and Donbas a lot and I miss some machines here . I only use RP-54 drones as kamikaze FPV drones mainly against ground targets, once I managed to crash a Mi-8 Terminator helicopter over Avdiivka. I had some suggestions for new machines recently I will send you a link . Otherwise, don't take them too seriously  :)

Hello all, possible to reup the links, all are dead. Thanks a lot for job, would like to test it in VP.
The links that I found were restored in the first post.
As for the other links, if anyone has them, you can add them and I will restore them in the first post.
P.S.
A few years ago, I started working on the ground control station for the "Fire Scout" from Edlor, but all work was frozen.

MQ- drones are suitable for a classic attack, but it cannot be used as a kamikaze drone and the map of Korea, I would change it to thermal vision

Edlor's model of the Fire Scout was almost revolutionary for the good old Il-2 in terms of the introduction of the remote-controlled vehicle.
Yes, it would be great to have a more modern workstation and HUD. But even now it can be used in some missions.
With a touch of our imagination...  :)

Alex has many great ideas that he has started to implement, but it is difficult to expect him to continue working on them.
I remember when he started working on modern cockpits for AH-1W and AH-64 helicopters, but as far as I know, no one helped him with JAVA, unfortunately I do not know.
Alex, all the best.
