Probably asked & answered but nevertheless must ask.Just installed Windows 10 under the deadline.I thought eveything was peachy but today I tried to start Il-2 & initially got a message that with Windows 10 there was a conflict & I should copy my CUP install to another C:drive location.I did this - too easy....but no joy I still get a non-start.Alls the more pity because I've never been happier thanthis up to date CUP version.Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks! ;)

try another drive maybe, not only another directory; I never install games to C: - C: is reserved for Windows exclusively on my crate....
also, if there is any compatibility mode for exe execution under Win10, try using that...but I hope there are more and better qualified Win10 users and experts amongst the crowd here...

i'm just waiting for all the willing Win 10 guinea pigs to run the gauntlet of inevitable new OS problems, and everything to get sorted out, before i go the new OS route.
good luck to all those unpaid MS testers! :D
-
Install elsewhere than in programs and right click on both selector and exe and give them full authority for each user....
I have IL2 running in W10 and got not side effects or issues from almost august of 2015 when I upgrade my W8....
:)

Try this:
-Right-click on the shortcut to the Selector
-Go to Properties
-Go to the Compatibility tab
-Check the box that says "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
Also, check that the resolution in your conf.ini matches your monitor display. Win10 does some screwy things with resolutions.

Dear Whiskey_Sierra,
did you encounter troubles when activating the Visual Mod?
Regards.

Completely concure.I would have never signed up for Windows 10 but I finally gave in on the last day after warnings that Windows 7 would no longer be supported.I waited as long as I felt I could. Now my only hope is that one of the suggestions found here will work...

Sorry but I don't understand....did you solve the issue or did you have still troubles?
-
Just my two cents (probably what it is worth) - I got the upgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 10 Pro as soon as it was offered by MS for free. Don't remember for sure when that was but it has been awhile now. I have had no issues with CUP/Windows 10 getting along with each other. None. Only problem I ever have is me. I keep doing not very smart things that effect my game. I wish I could blame Microsoft but I can't.

Don't worry mate!
I'm around Il2 modding from 2008 and still mess up things up to reinstall from scratch sometimes....

Solved by putting into another drive...all smiles!

Whew- I thought I had really lost it,BUT I think I figured it our.I just switched in Compatibility section of Properties of the Selector EXE. to Windows Service Pack XP and it seemed to have fixed startup in any version I was trying to start. This is a big load off my mind as I had a perfect functioning CUP version up & working... ;)
-
that should always have been your first port of call, James - it's what was meant by checking permissions....
anyway, good to hear it's sorted.

All Good right up thru CUP18 -thanks!
