Title: Halifax - Re-work [4.12]

Long time ago I made franken Halifax. It was one way for export in to game new planes.
I must say that was one of best my franken plane  :P
Now I made brand new model of Halifax with new loadouts.

Instal:
1) Remove any previous mod of Halifax
2) Instal mod in #SAS folder

For base game versions 4.11.1m and earlier an additional weapons supplement pack is required since these game versions miss two bombs (1000lb GP and 4000lb HC).
The additional "rebels" weapons are available here:

WARNING ...

For those people using this extra mod in their game...
Bomber Crew Mod update for UP 2.0 - by Slikk (which also works in the 4.12 game version)
---- https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3997.msg137876.html#msg137876
Erase (or disable the folder with a "-" minus sign) of  the Halifax folder inside that pack.
--- It will effect all of Ranwers new pilots for this new bomber version of the Halifax.
This bomber uses high-resolution pilot models with "blinking eyes"  ;D  It is kind of scary watching the rear gunner looking at you. LOL

Keep Calm and Carry on.

Very nice ! Thank you very much Mike & Ranwers !

But...
I do not have time to test ... but I am surprised to see a single icon (412)!  ;)
Because I know:
+ Mike never does things by halves!
+ There are no glaring inconsistency in the code!
+ The external FM seems compatible with all versions!
= I am convinced that the Rebels 409 (and Privateers) can use this Mod!  8)

Only UV2 users will notice a slight phase shift in engine noise ... if they have a musical ear!  :P

Seems to work in DBW 410 (I did not test all loadouts, though...) !

THANKS !

Also, works in CUP-WAW. The other Halifax (B MkI and B MkII) do not seem to be affected, and are still flying (with old 3d of course...).

So... Epervier was right !

Dear Gaston,
could you kindly tell me how to install the new halifax in WAW. There is already a Halifax Mk III. What should I remove? The weapons are not the same, should I remove the old one. May I install the folder inside the WAW folder just like that? I wouldn't like to damage my IL2.
Thank you and best regards.

how to install the new halifax in WAW. There is already a Halifax Mk III. What should I remove?
Nothing to remove, basically just adding the folder in #WAW should give you the new 3D. The 'old' Halifax mod is located in some SFS file, so you won't 'damage' it but you can't either remove it easily.

Anyway, I wouldn't do it, because there are 11 conflicting files between this new Halifax mod and WAW classfiles (maybe related to the previous Halifax mod, I did not check). It could result in loadout not working properly ; the best way would be to ask for this Halifax to be added in a future WAW update (there is already a thread dedicated to this kind of purpose (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,45237.msg559769.html#msg559769)) to replace the old one, probably resulting in a modified SFS file.

Post by: SAS~Storebror on May 16, 2016, 09:01:08 AM
Thanks for this great Halifax rehaul Ranwers, a true piece of art.

Some remarks from my side:
The classes, FM etc. are made with compatibility in mind.
This mod is supposed to work on any base game version, be it 4.09m or 4.13.1m or anything inbetween.
Of course it's also supposed to work on CUP, VP Modpack, DBW, UP3, HSFX etc.
Classfile "conflicts" are not real conflicts, just as a matter of case in games like CUP where the Halifax and the regarding weapons are already present, naturally the classfiles will overlap.
Nevertheless it's safe to use the ones from this mod, they should cause no issues.

You need the SAS Common Utils to use this mod.
If you have CUP, Modact 5.x, Modact 6.x or UP3 plus Patch Pack, then you already have them by default.
For all other game versions including VP Modpack please add the SAS Common Utils to your game.
They have no issues or overlaps with anything else from any game version so it's risk-free to install them to any game you have.

At the end of the loadout options list you'll find the "old" entries from previous Halifax B.Mk.III versions for backward compatibility reasons.
They're tagged "nha" (not historically accurate), I think's it's self explaining.
Take care when using the 4lbs Incendiary loadout, especially the salvo version, when using large flights.
Each plane carrying 4lb Inc. has 1350 (!) bombs on board, so depending on your CPU/GPU combo you might exceed your PC's specs quite soon.

Better code is :

Hi Ranwers, thanks a lot for this great update. It has the same 'feeling' as your DO-17, frail and sturdy at the same time, very realistic IMHO. Wonder if you could do the same magic on the Fokker G-1? That one is due for an update as well.

ALSO reccomended...
Erase and remove the old Halifax stationary aircraft lines and Technics lines from your ini. game files.
Those were for the old version.

 o_O

This is the Halifax static in my 4.12 game Max, nothing has been changed. ;)

(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm42/Mission_bug/Album%202/Halifax%20static_zpsbvhambae.jpg) (http://s293.photobucket.com/user/Mission_bug/media/Album%202/Halifax%20static_zpsbvhambae.jpg.html)

The 3d model has changed but the air line remains the same and as the static uses that entry there should be no problems.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I had a somewhat odd experience installing the Halifax. I am 4.09, 2.01, and after the raving reviews I shouldn't have had any problems. I immediately got a 60% CTD, so reluctantly removed it again. Restarting the game gave a 60% again.
Trying to decipher the log I noticed a lot of complaints about the B-26B, so I removed that and got the game going again.
Reinstalled the Halifax with no problems (and it really is good looking).
Only I don't have a B-26 any more.
Strange

Here is an HSFX compatible version of the Fax with working compass setter and radio compass by ton414. You may want to adjust your weapons file in the std folder. It is only compatible with advanced navigation.

Got a problem with FMB, When I add the Halifax then select the aircraft a want to fly I get see screen shot , I think it's something to do with the new load-out, work just fine in QMP, Vp modpack.

Had the same issue. I found out the following, which for me solved the nasty bug:

After selecting and placing the Halifax in the map, observe the preview window; it is blank right? In most cases you'd go straight on to select the "Plane 1" and all would be fine. With the Halifax however, the first thing You should do is, first open the preview window via the large "show" button (and absolutely without touching the "Plane 1" tab at this point). This will then open the preview window and show the Halifax in its default skin. Only after You see the Halifax in this way, You are free to click the "Plane 1" tab to proceed to determine altitude, speed etc. This seems to work for me, no FMB crashes anymore with Halifax. Avoid touching the "Plane 1" tab before you've first previewed the aircraft through the "show" option. I hope these lines made any sense, I'm not at my best today. :P

This is an old, old bug. It used to apply to all modded aircraft. I thought it had been eradicated but it rears its ugly head again. You are quite right: bring up a picture of the plane before you go to the 'plane' tabs and the problem goes away. Weird, but it works.

Very true and thus you'll need to do the preview thingy every time :( but at least this procedure keeps the FMB from crashing :)

This is an old, old bug.

I've also heard it's an old bug. I've had small problems occasionally with other planes such as He-219, but not any as persistent as with the Halifax.

Alas, I do not have time. Because upon returning to the FMB there is the problem.
Note: Do ALT + F to open the "file" tab and then do ALT + Q to exit the FMB ...!

Yes very old bug... Tempest... Uhu... etc...

I can't find any "logfile" or anything that has that kind of name in my root il2 file :/ I've looked around but I can't find it.

Title: Re: Halifax - Re-work

The MegaPatch is just to upgrade the stock game to the 4.12.2m stock game, you can't add mods to that game.
You have to install a ModAct
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,37662.0.html
It's better to have the game outside Program files folder, you put inside a folder like c:\IL2 or whatever you prefer
Inside your conf.ini there is a like like this eventlog=eventlog.lst
your log file will be named eventlog.lst and you must find it inside your c:\IL2

I can't find any "logfile" or anything that has that kind of name in my root il2 file :/ I've looked around but I can't find it.

In first blue link I posted above in reply #93 you will find this lines:

Quote
Open the conf.ini (find it in the root of your game),
then find the [Console] section and change there
this lines parameters :

LOG=0 --> change this to 1 (0: log disabled, 1: log enabled)
LOGTIME=0  --> timestamp at the start of the log lines (0: disabled; 1: enabled)
LOGFILE=logfile.log   --> name of the logfile, will be saved in the games root
LOGKEEP=0 --> log gets cleared with every new games start: 0; keep the log: 1

I do not know what you have in your conf.ini,
so look for "LOGFILE=xxx" and the "xxx" is your logfiles name,
its stored in the root of your game.

Please read carefully the part starting with:
"When you have to post your log file in a reply please do this:"
and especially use the code option. Thank you.

Cool , we have zombie pilots  8)
I never noticed this anomaly. I must check it out.

Many aircraft still need little fixes, so do not be surprised if something might have been
forgotten while the airplane was in the factory. Modders are only human and some times
stuff does not get noticed right away. That is why you guys must test them too.

One strange thing I dont like about that rear gunner, is his blinking eyes staring at me. LOL
That guy looks freaky.

Hallo guys

Thanks for this very nice plane. I tried this beauty in HSFX. It works good.

I noticed some interesting things. There is no fuel gauge in cockpit (or I cant find it maybe). In old franken Halifax it was right from throttles. It is needed gauge for long flying over La Chute map.
Landing light is iluminating under wing. Not sure if it is ok, but this does not helps when plane is landing in night.
Compass in bombardier position is not showing correctly (not big problem because course is allways showed in corner)
Aiming points in upper tower and in tail gunner are not centered (in comparation to old franken gunners positions).

I do not want be nitpicker. Just want inform you what was noticed when this nice plane was tested for night operations on La Chute map. Is it possible confirm and fix these things, please? From night operations point of view (not only) fuel gauge is most needed thing from all these noticed things.

Well I'm not complaining, just informing the way it is......there is an issue with the operation of changing positions within the aircraft,period......surely this needs to be pointed out doesn't it ?

I am using a pretty standard version too, with 4.12.4 + Modact 5.3.......the Mod has been downloaded and set up as per the read me,but there is this bug that crashes the game......plus,I am not the only one who has had this problem with this Mod either, study some of the replies on this thread.

For your information, the problem I asked for your assistance with yesterday with the Yamato was where the text given within the Read Me for the use of the 'No Seaplane' version was incorrect,I solved it in the end,but this problem was in no way, because I had misread the Read Me or installed it incorrectly.........no,this was down to the information given to install it being incorrect.

No one wants to complain, but us new guys using these Mods are not totally stupid.....if the Mod has problems or the information given to install these Mods is incorrect,we will have problems installing them, and I don't feel the need to apologise for these problems as they have not come about from my input in any way.Had I misread the information or had installed it incorrectly I would be the first to stand up and admit my errors.

I have appreciated your help in solving some of my problems I have had,and would not want to inconvenience you in any way,but surely you can see some of these problems are not of my doing.

Sorry to use this thread to explain myself, but you are publicly stating on here, that I am becoming a problem, and I beg to differ......happy days  ;D
