I'm running #WAW 20 but recently I've just started having a few crashes mid mission - I'm not sure why. But I'd like to understand what's going wrong and how to rectify it, but to do this I need to open my log file.
I now feel really stupid here asking this - "where's my logfile?". I've looked through
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13457.0.html
and
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13457.msg141551.html#msg141551
But where do I find the file in my CUP directory that holds my log reports? At the moment the only ones I can find are "notebook" eventlog and initlog.
This is my logfile settings in conf.ini
[HotKey Console]
Shift Tab=Activate
[Console]
HISTORY=1024
HISTORYCMD=1024
LOAD=console.cmd
SAVE=console.cmd
LOG=1
LOGTIME=0
LOGFILE=log.txt
LOGKEEP=0
Please be gentle - I'm a simple person who is not that computer literate.

The log should be in your IL2 directory between JSGME.ini and manual.pdf if it's called log.txt.
If it is not there then perhaps there is a permissions issue preventing IL2 from writing the file. It is considered essential to install IL2 to a location other than "Program Files". Something like C:\Games\IL2_CUP .
-
I'm sorry but we want to fuck your ass because you can't find your log :D
Just kidding ;)
LOGFILE=log.txt
so your log file is named log.txt
As said by Moezilla it must be in your IL2 root folder, the main IL2 folder

Phew and there's me thinking I'd be blacklisted as a village idiot.....!

Thanks for both your replies. I don't seem to have a log in my directory
Here's a screenshot of my directory where logfile should be.

Moezilla can you expand on the permission thing please. Where and how do I do that?

Your screen is unreadable.
640x400 is a bit too small for my old eyes! 8)

Any better?

o_O Strange !
I do not know if in the importance ... is the extension of the LOG file.
Try this:
[Console]
HISTORY=1024
HISTORYCMD=1024
LOAD=console.cmd
SAVE=console.cmd
LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=LOG.LST
LOGKEEP=0
And please for the safety of your computer asking Windows to display the extensions in the file manager! ;)
-
... mine, too, has always been named :
LOGFILE=LOG.LST
May be that's the reason why ... ;)

I'm sorry but you will :)
Anyway your is a strange problem.
I changed my log file's name years a go, now is log.txt and is there in my root folder.
Try this:
start the game, return to the IL2 folder and check if there is the log.txt file
-
Make sure your IL2 1946 CUP folder isn´t read only! Right click the folder and check in properties.

Aha, I seem to be getting somewhere here.

Flying H thank you too. Directory was marked as read only - changed that now. Found log file.

And OberstDanjeje, I did what you said and guess what - there's my log file. Thank you I've learnt a lot tonight....!

But it looks like this - why?
(http://s33.postimg.cc/rkajphpcf/2016_06_11_Logfile.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/f5nrp5xu3/full/)
I've started CUP and viewed "play track" - no problems so far as in CTD. But how do I view logfile that's easy to understand?
And one last thing - why are my "postimage" images so poor - do I have to register with it?
Many thanks for helping - much appreciated ;D

Open your log with WordPad rather than Notepad. WordPad simply formats it better. Then you will need to post it properly (with the code option). I screenshot won't help.
