Title: US WW2 Air-Ground Ordnance Pack Updated 29/7/16 - Bombs, Rockets, Pyrotechnics and...Smoke Dispensers Ready to DL
Post by: Dreamk on July 22, 2016, 05:50:24 AM
Bombs and other ordnance have always been a weak point in Il2, with a very limited range available and quite often a low historical accuracy. So, here's the (almost) exhaustive US WW2 Air-Ground ordnance Pack: Army and Navy Bombs, Frag and Incendiary Clusters, Daisy Cutters, Pyrotechnics and, though not really an air ground piece of ordnance, Smoke dispensers.
New Fuzes too barometric (aneroid), hydrostatic (depth) and proximity (VT), with an updated arming GUI.
Installation Notes:
1) The best is to keep the original name of these folders as the folder named !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes must load before the _armsUS_WW2 folder
Remark: It is advisable to copy the gui.properties file from inside the !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes/ gui_additions/i18n folder to the STD/i18n folder (instead of the same name file present there), as some installations of the game seem to load this file only when it is is this folder.
2) Copy the content of the folder named _armsUS_WW2_Planes inside the folder named !_AerialTorpedoesCods. This will allow to update the bomb bay of the B25J with its historical disposition). Although the mod by itself is independent form other mods, the cod files and 3Do fixes in this folder come a s a complement to my previous ordnance mods: Aerial mines and Aerial Torpedoes, that need therefore to be installed for correct full display.
3) This mod appears in 2 versions: one for 4.12, the other for 4.13. Download the version that suits you.
4) What's still lacking in this pack - the guided bombs: BAT, Azon and Razon that need to be rethought of  - their implementation by TD lacks realism, these are guided bombs, not rockets, and the fuel tanks used as fire bombs. This will come soon....
5) The mod includes cod files for "demonstration planes": SBD3 and SBD5, F4U1D, B25J, P47D27 P51DNA
Enjoy!
As Usual:
This package is freeware.

2) DO NOT place these files anywhere that requires a fee for downloading.

Awesome! It would be great if we could also write messages on them! With the new ordinance cam from 4.13 it would make great movies. But no idea how difficult that mod would be ... So, I guess a crazy idea from a crazy user lol. Or it isn't?

umm.. :o.....wow, i'm kinda speechless - this looks awesome, mate - thanks for sharing!  ;D
i'm interested to see how this plays out with the other arms loads in the game - should we be expecting some conflicts?
nevertheless, i'm going to try this out first opportunity - which, sadly, is only going to be late on Sunday, as I'm on duty and on a course over the weekend.
hopefully others can provide some feedback in the meanwhile?  8)

Anti-ricochet bombs:
The Parademo bombs were anti-ricochet bombs used successfully in rocky ground areas: Pacific coral atolls, Provence etc..
The M30 spike bombs was an anti-ricochet designed specifically for attacking railway lines and first used successfully as such in Burma.
Daisy Cutters:
The story begins with..the Australian in the Western desert in 1941-42. They successfully used there Extended rods fixed to Pistols No 27 on 250 and 500lb bombs. A highly unsafe device (as the safety of the fuze has to be taken away to install the extension rod, and pilots had therefore to take off with bombs armed), not intended to be an anti-personal weapon but to enable the bombs to explode over the ground instead of burying themselves in the sand.
Next step of the story - the New Zealanders. The RNZAF was under operational and logistic command of the US Navy, and therefore equipped with US Navy bombs and other equipment. Knowing about the Australian experience, they improvised the same device, using tent poles as extension rod, with this time the intention of thus making an efficient anti-infantry weapon, similar to the  efficiency of the Japanese "daisy cutters" (pack of mortar bombs used as air dropped bombs). The efficiency of this improvisation led the navy to devise a real extended fuze, the "Fuze Mk219 with extension rod for daisy cutters" classifying "top secret" so that, except a 1943 publication, this fuze is absent from further "regular classified publications" and photos of bombs with this device were censored  - on US Navy planes, as there are plenty of good photos of Navy bombs with this fuze on RNZAF Corsairs, using them against the Japanese in Bouganville.

The US Army took another approach to the subject and designed a real extension fuze, the M1A1, much safer, that began there a long career with the US Air forces. These fuze extensions could be combined in line to make an extension 3 ft long, 6 ft long etc., although during ww2, only a single instance was generally used.

These devices the previous improvisations such as barbed-wire-wrapped bombs

Then came in 1945 the first proximity fuzes. Their main shortcoming, a long arming delay, imposed by the fact that the US used massive multi layered bombing formations, and an armed proximity fuze does not differentiate between ground, vehicles, or...flying aircraft near by.  Bomb equipped with proximity fuzes were used efficiently against dug-in infantry positions, but also to clear vegetation in jungle areas and to blow out houses roofs in preparation to incendiary bomb attacks.

Update in the first post:
1) Arming time (Minimal release height) of the Proximity fuzes corrected.
2) "Shudder" at the opening of the chutes in the parademo bombs corrected. The chute open smoothly now.
3) pdf file with a table showing Fuzes Names, Type, delay duration/ depth, arming time (minimal release height), instead of the more complex excel file.
4.13 version uploaded too.

I must be missing something really obvious here. D/l'd both 4.12 and 4.13 versions but cannot see the enhanced GUI interface in my arming screen in either version. Can see all of the arms but no enhanced fuzes. (Fuzes on checked in difficulty screen)

Obvious brain freeze somewhere along the way.

They will appear only if the selected bomb has one of these fuzes. Try for insatnce to select a Depth charge on one of the Dauntlesses and see whether the "Hydrostatic" panel appears on your fuze arming Gui. Same with an AN-M65 (on the P51D20NA for "proximity".

No joy. One other question. In the "mod"  folder is a subfolder "gui_additions" containing an i8n folder/gui. Is this folder relevant? I've tried placing the contents at various levels but to no avail.

The gui_additions folder is essential. The mother folder is named !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes so as to load before other folders.
You must have 3 folders:
!!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes
_armsUS_WW2 folder
and
_armsUS_WW2_Planes

Check that you have installed the 4.12 version on 4.12 (or the 4.13 on 4.13, they are not interchangeable).

And, remember, with computers one must be paranoid to some extent, so, even if you are sure to have done that, check once again that you have activated the "Bombs Fuzes" button in "weapons and stores" section of the "difficulty settings"

What kind of installation do you have? 4.12.2 + Modact 5.30? 4.13.1 with Modact 5.61? other?

Thanks for info. I will check in the am as I am not at my game pc and it's getting late. Looking at your folder structure, I may be missing the armsUS_WW2 planes folder. Like I said, brain freeze + sometimes can't see the wood for the trees.

Still no joy.

Using 4.12.2 with ma 5.30 and 4.13.1 with ma 6.1 - no additional mods to conflict. Here is my mods folder for 4.13:

Ok, try 2 things:
1) Change the name of the folder !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes  into 000_ANewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes
2) copy the 18n folder from inside the gui_additions folder into the STD folder (it will crush the gui.properties file present there, but I am far to think that it is the solution, as it seems that the mod is simply not loaded by your installation).
Is there something written in your log file?

As you guessed, made no difference. I disabled all the additional mods in my 4.13/ma6.1 install. I put in an original conf ini in case I had something in there that was stopping this mod from running.

With the mos activated, when I get to the a/c selection screen I see this:

(https://s31.postimg.cc/qohvqgnij/2016_08_03_12_50_01.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/y4h5c9b7r/)

I can now see all of the loadouts, but still no fuze selection. (I checked each ordnance for fuze types - no show). If I now click on the viewer screen to rotate the a/c, the games crashes to desktop. Logfile:

If I just click on apply and fly, the QMB mission runs.

It seems I am the only one experiencing this and I don't want to waste any more of your time. My 4.13 install is for curiosity value only, my 4.12/ma5.30 standalone is for mod testing for compatibility before running in C.U.P. or VPModpack. Just as an aside, I d/l'd your mines and torpedo pack and couldn't get those to run on top of this mod.

Thanks for your time, anyways,

Regards,

Bergkamp

OK - Seeing your screens, the straightforward conclusion is that something went wrong with the installation of this mod. It seems that some classes load only partially or don't load at all. The conclusion - wipe it, download once again from fresh and reinstall the new downloaded folders.

Dear Dreamk,
I enjoyed your work on the torpedoes and I thank you but with the bombs I experience the same trouble as Bergkamp. I got nothing. I work with WAW20. I installed the three folders in the WAW folder without results. Should I install them in the SAS folder instead?
Best regards.

The pack has been developed for SAS Modact, so put the files inside the SAS folder, as other mods, if not it will not load.

Hi DreamK

At least somebody else is seeing this!! I'm thinking this may now be a corrupt file at mediafire. Downloaded 5 times now, with same results. Running 4.12 with MA5.30 and 4.13 with MA6.10 and no additional mods.

Dear DreamK,
I am sorry but I must confirm the opinion of Bergkamp. Even in placing the folders in the SAS folder, it doesn't work.
I downloaded and installed only the version 1.2 not using the initial version plus updates. Should I.
I hope that you can help us.
Best regards.

I'll re-upload the files tomorrow on Mediafire - I'll update you after doing that so you can download once again.

Ok i have rebuilt the Fuzes/gui archives (as from your log the problem seems to be in the gui arming class) and reloaded them:
1) New Fuzes (Barometric, Hydrostatic, Proximity) and New Fuze Arming GUI (meters and feet) v1.2:
412
https://www.mediafire.com/download/k557f8ohd85pbq1/%21%21_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes+4122.7z
413
https://www.mediafire.com/download/dkfv14c5r2odc73/%21%21_A_NewFuzes_Barometric_Hydrostatic_Proximity+4131.7z
https://www.mediafire.com/download/avt65ff1z5kq2cl/%21%21_A_NewFuzes_Barometric_Hydrostatic_Proximity+4.13.1.7z
pay attention to copy the correct version of the archive according to your installation (412.2 or 4.13.1/2).
Hope this will help.

Guys, I've done some testing to try and reproduce this error...tell me something... you don't happen to be still using the RC4 version of 4.13 instead of 4.13.1 or 4.13.2?

BTW Through may debugging trials, I made also a working version fit to 413RC4 - whoever is interested (though I don't really know why someone would be interested as RC4 is a really bad version of the game, full of problems. Whatever....), here it is:

I'm having a bit of an issue here:

1. I cannot find the folder labelled !_AerialTorpedoesCods which download is this in?
2. When I download the files on page 1, installed under the correct version (4.13) I am not seeing any of the new ordinance.

I feel like I'm missing something...

1) If someone has downloaded the 413 version of the fuze proximity folder in the last 24 hours, download it once again - it was lacking subfolders. I updated the correct link in the various posts:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/avt65ff1z5kq2cl/%21%21_A_NewFuzes_Barometric_Hydrostatic_Proximity+4.13.1.7z
2) Kevlarburrito, have you installed the _armsUS_WW2_Planes folder? it contains the cods files to see the ordnance on a number of usplanes (F4U1D, SBD-3 and 5, P51DNA, P47D27...)
https://www.mediafire.com/download/ss79jdm56ho8c1n/_armsUS_WW2_Planes.7z
(The !_AerialTorpedoesCods folder was included in the Aerial torpedoes mod.)

Ah okay so I found that.

Now when I try to activate the mod is Generic Mod Enabler, I get a "Stream Write Error"?

Edit: So I got it to work...not sure what I did wrong...I just removed everything I had extracted and redid it all exactly as I did the first time. For whatever reason it worked this time.

Maybe you can try what Kevlaburrito did, to upload it through the JSGME?

can you also post your current log file - I have a problem with the previous one you posted - for a strange reason, it points to an empty line in the java class so it's difficult to understand which method the game engine is not finding

Dear SGT68,

Best regards.

No, I use 4.12.2 + Modact 5.3 + Boomer objects + JSGME extensions, and then i install a selection of mods that i want.

CUP is too heavy for my liking. Plus all those restore points do my head in.  I prefer smaller individual builds focussed on specific aspects of gameplay. I been tinkering around with all this stuff for a couple of years now and have seemed to get quite good at configuring, having learned which mods tend to conflict with others. So it makes more sense to me to really be a tweaker and create personal builds based on my specific WW2 interests. I have a Nightfighter build, and am just putting the finishing touches to
a Coastal Command build. Both built on top of what i listed above. The fact that this ordnance pack worked in both builds is just good luck really, i think. If you need me to i will post the contents of my #SAS folders

Ok. I uploaded through JSGME and same result. I have tried this in C.U.P., VPMedia modpack, my current 4.12 ma5.30 install and as a last resort, I installed a completely vanilla game, patched to 4.12.2 with a vanilla ma5.30. This is my latest logfile:

As a for instance, when I open the QMB (PAL mission pro disabled) mission screen, I see the a/c ie P51D-20NA, with the loadout for 2x1000lb GP_AN_M65. If I click on the viewing button, I cannot get to the viewing screen. If I then select default loadout, I can click and see the a/c viewer. I can the select the loadout, but cannot see the fuze selections. (Should be barrometic - I only see instant). This situation is constant for all a/c with any loadout.

I say again, I don't want to waste too much more of your time with my problem. If a solution cannot be found, it won't break any skin.

Bergkamp

OK! Bergkampf I think I know what is happening - Take the gui.properties file from inside the folder !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes\gui_additions\18n and copy it inside the folder STD\18n (it will replace the file of same name that is already there). It's simply not loading as is path is not the one expected by the game
(I should have put it in a folder !!_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes\18n instead of what I did - what is interesting is that for most modders, this does not prevent the game to load this file!)
I'll upload an update with the correct path, later, although it seems that some installations of the game will load this file only if it is inside the STD/18n folder.)

Steven, I have not forgotten the "super bombs" but as they were copies of British bombs, they will come with the upcoming British bombs pack  :)

I'll upload an update with the correct path, later, although it seems that some installations of the game will load this file only if it is inside the STD/18n folder.)

i think you mean i18n folder... I made the mistake of just copying the entire folder into my #SAS/STD folder expercting the new gui file to overwrite... ( and i was too lazy to watch the screen for confirmation, and if i had i would have known that it did not overwrite but just dumped the folder 18n into STD which of course meant it wouldn't work. I eventually discovered this mistake and rectified. My fault really, but i thought i would point this out...

Yes, the gui.properties file must go inside the i18n folder (STD/i18n).

Ok - so to put some order, here are updated, corrected, folders : they include the correct path for the i18n/gui.properties, minor corrections in some java files, added 100lb and 260lbFrag bombs to the proximity fuze enabled bombs, as they appear as such in 1945 documents, and added some files that will be useful with the upcoming UK Air Ground ordnance pack
4.12.2:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/6kwmx7p4x7d7yiu/%21%21_NewBarometric_HydrostaticFuzes+4.12.2.7z
4.13.1/ 4.13.2:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/qb2x0bp95q2mugx/%21%21_A_NewFuzes_Barometric_Hydrostatic_Proximity+413.1+v1.02.7z

It is recommended to  copy the new gui.properties file inside the STD/i18n folder instead of the current one

Success!! I had copied the i18n folder into the STD folder and hadn't noticed in your upload the i18n folder was in fact titled 18n. (Can't see the wood for the trees).

Though I had copied the gui file directly into the i18n folder in earlier testing, I guess that didn't work because of some kind of corruption in the classfiles.

I will now d/l your latest fix and confirm all is ok.

Ok, all fine with the new update. A note of warning. I downloaded the 4.13 update from the link above and the new updated folder did not contain the new i18n folder. It is contained in the new link on page1, however. The 4.12 download is ok.

Thanks for your time, DreamK

Not quite. see this thread. i had to remove the mod and now it works as this specific file is suspect in causing the game to exit to desktop.

Quote
Watch out for a mod containing the file "162D5684E00435A6".
That's the suspicious one.

DreamK

You mention a U.K. Weapons pack. I have just posted in requests forum about uk load outs for light and medium bombers to include 8x30lb incendiary canisters and a variety of fuses for 500 and 250lb bombs for low level work. In some cases also us AN M79 napalm bombs. Is this pack something you are still working on?

What remains - meshes and bitmaps are completed but java need to be written:
The TI target Indicator bombs and associated pyrotechnics (and this takes time! not a difficult task but a lengthy one, due to the wide range of variations developed and used by the British)
The Clusters containing and releasing the small Frag and Incendiaries bombs and the clusters for flares
The various Smoke Screen and Smoke Curtain apparatus
The Sea Markers
A few goodies (Such as the Capital Ship bomb and the Johnny Walker Bomb)

And of course writing the cod files (a pain in the ass as you need to be extra careful when writing the file as the cod structure is not a "forgiving" one, If someone would volunteer to help me with that and write some of these cod files, I'll appreciate. This would speed the process of this pack)

So you'll need a little more patience as this is really a huge pack :) but it will be really worth it , even if I am the one who says it
 :)

Hi, Tarakanz! What is the problem?
30% CTD? :P
Also, only with the Mig-21 pack? F-18 for example working? (If you have one). Or Fw-190/Ta-152 superpack?
What the log states? Check out about PrintCompassHeading. Also, trying to remove the fuse mod only!
(Not the whole weapons pack...) Still have conflicts?

I have a strange issue here 412,2 SAS 5,3, whether heavily modded or at bare minimum mods:
( ..when your mods are in use... )
F4U-1d arming screen does not appear in FMB play option.

Using just the basic F4U series of game, with no big pack of F4U added, or same in full of mods game version.
The issue seems related to BATBOM not showing up in FMB only, but it is there and fully operational in QMB.

F4U-1d arming screen can be revealed if/when -_armsUS_WW2_Planes neutralized.
Then it shows that the last loadout is whitish: Batbomb, just before Empty.

In _armsUS_WW2
F4U-1d Loadouts are dependant on files:
Code: [Select]
D605F196DAFDFE1E   1 + 2 = 8xFFAR_3_5inch_Mk1_AP + 8xFFAR_3_5inch_Mk3_HE_2x154gal_DropTanks

3888D73032F9966E           2xClusterM7_30lbFrag_Mk5 to Empty   =  PROBLEM here.

If -_armsUS_WW2_Planes neutralized, then this arming screen appears. Note that the aircraft is always
playable with or without arming screen showing up, up to the Batbomb loadout not available.
Not available Batbom in normal FMB object dropdown, but fully avaible in QBM.

Meanwhile in QMB, all works fine.

If I remember well, there is a cod file for the F4U1D "demo plane" in the mod - This si probably the source of your problem. Look in the cod subfolder for a file named -89230086 and just suppress it

Yes. That is helpful:
- instead of -_armsUS_WW2_Planes neutralized I can now have _armsUS_WW2_Planes with the
culprit code removed. That is helpful.
- But Bat bomb is still unavailable in FMB. ( whitish )
- However it is just one loadout and I have regain control of my plane. Thanks you for your quick answer.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "demo".
Where the msh tga sim of Bat Bomb come from ?
( under lean test: was just running your three mods in 5.3 )

This mod is really great and this is what we really need in Il-2. Thank you Dreamk! Just one question - what is status of UK bomb pack?
