here's a set of QMB missions for this map, if anyone's keen. :D
only tested on UP2.0n, i can't guarantee they'll work on another version...
-
THX a bunch Malone, I 'll give them a try in less time it takes a French athlete to be eliminated from the Olympics ..!! :P
-
cool, they're pretty basic missions. for blue bridge, your target is trains.
for red bridge, i've just used some FMB objects as the bridge.
while we're on the subject, could someone explain to me why the searchlights don't work on this map? i've come across this problem before, and now realise that it must be something to do with the map itself. on another map, they work as usual, but on one or two, including now this one, they just don't want to work. anybody have any ideas?
i've tried messing with the DECLIN value of the map's load.ini, thinking that might have something to do with it, but it made no difference....
in the QMB missions i did, several have searchlights, but so far, for me, the lights just don't activate.... ???
ok, i've had a closer look, and maybe somebody could confirm this for me. using the Red quickStrike QMB mission; if you look at the mission in FMB, you'll see various searchlights around the harbour/airfield area, as well as Flak 88's on the harbor gates. now, if i go and fly the mission in QMB, the searchlights and AA guns have disappeared!!! this is obviously what's happening, instead of the searchlights not working, they aren't appearing in the mission!
MrO, I'll move this bit to Tech help soon, as it's probably another problem, but while we're here, maybe someone could just test and confirm for me, using the Red Strike mission as an example... ???
thanks in advance
here's a pic to illustrate better:

hell I could'nt fly a single mission of yours Malone, I always get a loading error message about a Landscape loading error ... ???
Since I don't use a pack I deleted the [Mods] section related to weather and even the [Buildings] one but to no avail ... :'(
...any idea ?
THX in advance
-
what's the exact error message, Mick? ???
you have the map installed fine?
you say you don't use a pack - like UP/HSFX? if so, like i said, i've done them with UP2.0n - it might be an object problem....but that EXACT error message would be good to know... ;)
also, i'm going to move this section of the thread to a new one in Tech help soon, just as not to clutter up MrO's thread...
:)
-
Im using 2.01 and the missions works fine for me. Thanks Malone.
-
THX for helping Malone, I either get this message while loading :
Landscape'MrO_Tunis/load.ini' loading error or a direct return to desk at around 23% while loading objects ...
I don't think I have those Egypt objects installed in case MrO's map uses them ...
-
yeah, Mick...think its an object problem. in most of those missions i've also used several objects which only come with UP (moving infantry, etc...), but it sounds like a map-loading issue.
what is your entry in all.ini for the map?
also, does the map load in FMB for you? that's a good place to check for the specific error, if it's a missing texture...
-
My all.ini entry is : Tunisia(MrO)MrO_Tunis/load.ini
Nope the map doesn't load in the FMB, same error message about a landscape error ....
-
ok, Mick, load it in FMB again, then bring up the error console when it fails (Shift+Tab), and look for the error messages in the last 4 or 5 lines towards the end (bottom of the screen, white text)
let me know what the error says, if it's a missing texture, or what... ???
also, i'm moving this part of the thread soon to tech help, we'll continue from there.... ;)
-
Just flew a couple of your missions Malone. Good job! Many thanks, 8)
-
My all.ini entry is : Tunisia(MrO)MrO_Tunis/load.ini

Mick, it's a texture problem. You need to use the textures pack of MrO (link on the first post) or correct the paths in the load.ini (in my case for these files: NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood1.tga, NTL_Darwin_Small/NTL_Darwin_Small_Wood3.tga and NTL_Darwin_Small_AlteredBush6a.tga) if you already have these textures for another map.
-
Korrigan is right, Mick - it's most likely a texture problem.
We can sort that out for you, but as far as these QMB missions go, it might be easier to make some basic ones of your own, or from someone who hasn't used as many UP-specific objects as i have... ;)
post the error you find at the bottom of the console in FMB (Shift+Tab).
it'll be 'can't load ******tga, or something like that....
-
OK here we go:
Internal error can't open file Maps/Tex/NTL\Trees\NTLDarwinSmall_AlteredBush6.TrunkTL.tga
and :
TLandscape:LoadMap.(MrPTunis/load.ini) errors in loading
and :
Worldload Load Map error java lang RunTimeexception Landscape MrO_Tunis/load.ini loading error
-
ok...the second part of the error is basically because of the first one, so the load.ini error comes up because of the missing texture, NTLDarwinSmall_AlteredBush6.TrunkTL.tga.
you'll need to install all the necessary textures for the map, check on MrO's map thread for that info...also check viking's post just below his, about the changes that need to be done for some of the textures. if you follow those instructions, your map should load.... ;)
-
has anybody tried these missions, to see if they're loading correctly, and not suffering from the problem i've described in my second post above?
i'm really keen for some feedback, because it's really puzzling me why my searchlights and AAA seem to disappear when i fly the mission in QMB.... :o
-
THX Malone and Korrigan, I (of course) had MrO Tex pack installed, I'll now try Viking's load.ini fix and if that doesn't work I'll have a fresh beer before I go nuts ... :D
-
hahah! yeah, i solved it....you won't believe the total noobishness of my 'problem'.....
i had AAA defenses deactivated in the QMB menu, lol...... ::) :-\ ;D
-
OK, end of the Tunisia map story for me ... I'll give it another try as soosn as I calm down ... :D
-
Thanks for these great missions, I really like all QMB mission sets for new maps.
I only have a little issue with scramble missions: I want to take off with my fighter plane to fight and shoot down some enemy planes, but after I have successfully shot down all flying enemies, I RTB and find some hostile tanks all over my airfield. It's not so nice to get a heavy round from tank's main cannon straight into my cockpit or fuel tank at the end of the mission while parking my plane. Those tanks are really fun for bomber missions, but with a fighter there is no way to destroy them. Perhaps some softer enemies like armed cars would be better because they could be destroyed also by fighters. Then the tanks could be fighting somewhere further away as targets for bombers.
-
i did have a few tanks engeged in a battle for some of the missions, i think you're referring to the blue scramble mission.
normally, for this mission, there are enough friendly tanks nearby to destroy the enemy tanks. in the several times i've played it, the enemy tanks always get destroyed first.
possibly one of the enemy planes got a lucky hit on your tanks, allowing the enemy tanks to overrun the field?
best solution, just open up the mis in FMB and remove the enemy tanks you don't want - i think there are only 4 or 5...
alternatively, i'm busy adjusting the missions (populating a bit more, etc...),but not too much, to avoid increased loading times - they are quick missions, after all...
i'll probably have them uploaded this weekend.... ;)
-
In that unlucky mission I was actually testing the new FW 190D-15 with gunpods against four ace Mossie nightfighters and four ace Beau nightfighters. I didn't notice those heavy fighters attack any tanks or AAA, but I was busy trying to avoid their attacks. Perheps friendly tanks and AAA were busy shooting at the nightfighters flying all over the place, and they forgot to destroy the tanks to defend my airfield.
-
Following the path to this file "NTL_Darwin_Small_AlteredBush6a.tga" in the load.ini I found the only file in that folder was called "NTL_Darwin_Small_AlteredBush6aTL.tga" I had downloaded and installed the MrO Texture pack. If this helps at all.
-
What is the correct entry for the config.ini for this map ? Maybe I´m blind but I dont found it
-
It's always the first part of the missions name. In this case "Tunisia(MrO)".
-
oh cool
I didnt know that there is a trick to find out the config.ini name
Thanks !

Hi Malone
How do add these missions to work in QMB
I noticed they came with a " . miss" termination, so I think they should be placed in this path: Mission/Quick, but from there I can not play them in the QMB, for that they have to be placed in a different path: IL2 1946/Quicks.
Can you help me please?
I'm running UP 2.1 4.09m, do I have to activate the QMB Pro from the jsgme?
Thanks
Gerson

... guys after 6 months of trials and despair, and THX to redko I can now at last fly over Tunisia !!
Here is the fix that did it :
Following Redko's suggestions I replaced all the original WOOD section by :
[WOOD]
Wood0 = forest/summer/Wood0.tga
Wood1 = forest/summer/Wood1.tga
Wood2 = forest/summer/Wood2.tga
Wood3 = forest/summer/Wood3.tga
Wood4 = forest/summer/Wood4.tga
WoodMask2 = forest/summer/ForestMask.tga
WoodMask3 = forest/summer/ForestMask2.tga
WoodMiniMasks = forest/summer/MiniMask.tga
SideWood = forest/summer/ForestSide.tga
and also :
Tree0 = NTL_\Trees\NTL_Darwin_Small\NTL_Darwin_Small_AlteredBush6a.tga
by :
Tree0 = Trees\AlteredBush8a.tga
:P A big THX to you all
-
... in fact I only needed to replace :
Tree0 = NTL_\Trees\NTL_Darwin_Small\NTL_Darwin_Small_AlteredBush6a.tga
by :
Tree0 = Trees\AlteredBush8a.tga
to get the Tunisia map to load...
Malone,I have been tweaking your Tunisia missions and I am surprised to see you used the Crusader tank because it doesn't exist in my game, so I logically can't see them and had to replace them with Stuarts or whatever.
Where did you get them from? Any way to get them as a stand alone mod ?
I know Wingflyr is working on a pack that will include them, but it looks like you already have some Crusaders ... ;)
-
.. I am so glad to be at last able to fly over Tunisia that I sort of tweaked Malone's QMB missions, here they are for you to enjoy :

Yea this trick fixed the problem but i can't save missions here....Mick can you do this on your install man ?
-
Yes I can and this is unfair since it is thanx to you that I can at last fly over Tunisia ... ???
-
Well, hey, Mick and Redko and whoever else was involved, a great big heap of thanks to you! :)
I've had Mr. O's Tunisa pretty much since it first came out and had never even been allowed to see it due to an insistent Java run time error! :'( Watched for fixes but kept quiet since searches on SAS come up with odd results for me.
Then, BOOM, Mick's one-line change of Tree0 and there I am, cruising the Tunisian skies. Just downloaded your Quicks, Mick, gonna give 'em a go. ;)
And saving in FMB is working.
Thank you so much, guys.
-
Hey Malone- finally got around to trying your QMBs and like them very much :)
I especially liked the Blue Scramble mission- while I was just planning on going for a quick spin, there were some fun surprises in that mission 8)
Thanks for these
Triad
