Title: Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2b
Post by: Zflyer48 on August 20, 2019, 03:54:36 PM
Back from my yearly week long trout fishing trip with friends, I find that my WIP FE2d thread has been locked.
For what reason I do not know. But, at this point, I do not care.

So, begins.

F.E.2b

1915  with 6 cylinder and 2 blade prop.

Just behind pilot, airscopes.

Having a few problems with front wheel. Wants to bury into the ground.
FM is giving a few headaches. But, will work it out.

Best Regards

Releasing another single mission shouldn't be a problem when the time comes. Thanks for making it.

cheers

looking great!

Back from my yearly week long trout fishing trip with friends, I find that my WIP FE2d thread has been locked.

Well, you (and I quote) moved the FE2d to WW1 dowloads ;)
To prevent people from continue to post additional material in an outdated thread all over the place, it was locked. that gets confusing real fast.

This is a new version so a new thread is not the worst thing to start anyway.
regards!

air.in

Known issue: Nose wheel will bury into ground with heavy stick.

Enjoy

With Cockpit Gunner working in CW22b and Br270, I thought I would get the Gunner in FE2b to work. Then, FE2d.
Thought wrong.
Did everything the same and when I hit "C" key - zip, nada, no switchy. Stays in Pilot cockpit.
Double and triple checked typing, placement of cockpit code in java, and naming.
For now, Gunner is still AI.
This afternoon, I will breakout my modding tools and try again.

Hi Zflyer48 !
I've been enjoying flying both the F.E's recently and discovered a couple of anomalies....

Hubberanz mentions that you've used the Albatros CX FM for the FE2d .... Merc DIVa = 260bhp  similar to RR Eagle =250bhp

Q: What FM did you base the FE2b on ?

The reason I ask is I find the 160bhp Beardmore in the FE 2b seems to cope admirably with a pair of 100kg bombs and 100% fuel on take off
She takes off at 120kph and climbs beautifully at 130-140 kph
I've found that the FE2d  with a similar loadout usually runs out of airstrip before hitting 100kph and has to coaxed into the air...it's then rather a task to avoid stalling when trying to increase altitude.
Conversely I've flown both at max altitude (2700m) and both aircraft are stable with the FE2d making slightly more speed, from what I've read is spot on
Also, you mention that the FE2b is prone to "digging in" given a heavy stick  :D I've had no such problem's  8).....it's probably that I'm a GENTLEMAN and know how to treat these delicate old ladies  :-*

Cheers

Alfie

PS Please don't take this as a criticism....merely an observation...I'm aware that these are beta models and need some polishing by geniuses like you and vamps etc

Back to work. Been away for a bit. Spent last week with kidney stones. Hard to concentrate with pain meds.
Stones removed and I am doing fine.

You Sir are a HERO

(PPPS Apologies to all.....I originally posted this in the wrong thread  :-[)
