Prerequisites:
1. All files - both base and updates - from the BAT DGen thread here:

2. Be sure to download the skin packs too - some good stuff there.

Installation:
1. Just copy over to your root Il-2 1946 directory - the folders are already 
set up.
2. Back-up the DGen files in case you want to revert back.

Notes:
a. I rate these revisions as semi-historical as I've tried to use time-frame 
appropriate plane sets as much as was possible.
b. Example 1; No carrier based F4F3's after the Coral Sea.
c. Example 2; Say goodbye to the SBD after the Marianas.
d. Example 3; Say hello to the SB2C for the Marianas Op.
e. Example 4; Lots of Jills and Judys to shoot at during the Turkey Shoot.
f. Exception; The last Op - Raiding the Japanese home islands let's you 
select the F8F Bearcat if you so choose.  Not historically accurate but fun
to pit them against late war IJN/JAF types.

Suggested plan type selections:

Midway Midway, June 1942   = F4F-4
Guadal1 Guadalcanal, August 1942 = F4F-4

I followed the directions, I think, but when I try to start the campaign, I pass to a blank BAT Mission page, and freezes. My DGen log tells me "Wrongcommandline." Below, please find my conf.ini Dgen section and my DGen Log results. Any help appreciated.

This log does not belong to the USN campaign, but some German Africa campaign.
Do other DGen campaigns work?

I'm sure I installed it wrong. My DGen Log repeats "Wrong command lineWrong command line."
What I did was as follows:
1. Downloaded and extracted via 7zip in a new folder.
2. I had a folder named, as above in Subject line.
3.The contents of that folder were two folders entitled "Dgen" and "Paint Schemes."
4.The installation instructions read, "Just copy over to your root Il 2 1946 directory-the folders already set up."
5. So pasted the USN.... folder into the root folder, but was unable to find the folder. I then transferred the USN.... folder to the Campaigns/UN folder-no luck.
6.At that point, I opened the USN...folder and saw the two sub-folders, and installed them in the BAT game folder and removed the folder from the UN folder in Campaigns.
7. I updated the BAT Dgen folder and installed it in the game folder.
Now, I can see the USN... in  the UN Campaigns folder in the UN Pilot Career game page. I can start the first step in in the New Career page, but when I try to generate the campaign, I get the whit. page BAT page.

Sorry to be so long winded, but I can't figure what I've done wrong.

the "root" folder is the base folder where you game resides....
(now please don't look for a folder named "base"....)

there already are folders named DGen and PaintSchemes. The files from this pack go in there.... I presume the logic unfolds itself?

And are you sure you installed the BAT DGen pack correctly?

OK, if I'm reading step 5 correctly you ended up w/ a "USN" folder that contains the "DGEN" & "Paint Schemes" sub folders, that you copied over to the IL-2 1946 root directory, correct?

So that is not the way to do it.
First of all delete everything you've copied over to date.
Then copy over the "DGEN" & "Paint Schemes" folders directly to the Il-2 1946 root directory.
You will get the normal overwrite existing folders messages for the "Paint Schemes" folder and BOTH the existing folders message AND the existing files overwrite messages for the "DGEN" folder - so overwrite them.
And then you should be OK.

My thanks for both of your responses.
I've never had any great problems with Bat since I installed it. I've never had many problems installing campaigns. I've followed your solution with no luck.  I still get the blank BAT Planning page. When I check Windows Task Master, both IL 2 and USN... show they're running, I've waited as much as a half hour hoping it just slow. It looks like an interesting campaign and I'd not like to give up, but it is discouraging.
The DGen.log still shows WrongCommandlineWrongCommandline." That must mean something is in the wrong place.

I have to say I'm having the same issue. I tried deleting the DGen log and all the others, disabled all JSGME and still no luck. No logs at all are generated with this attempt.

seriously guys, this could not be any simpler.

forget the whole JSGME stuff for a moment.

we are talking about replacing one (1) folder in the root directory: DGEN and the DGEN.exe, when installing the WAW-BAT Dgen pack
Did you get this right in the first place?

Then we talk about replacing a handfull of files inside that very same DGEN folder and adding a few skins for this USN update here. That is all there is to it.
The whole JSGME is just a fancy way to do just that.

The original carrier air group fighter campaign and all the other DGen campaigns I have going, one for each nationality, are all working fine. Is there anything else I may provide that would be of help?

I literally have no idea without having seen your install.

Can you post a screenshot of the contents of your BAT03B folder?

Also, try to start the campaign not at the first segment but other segments. Try different planes. Is it the same every time or just in certain combinations?

That's just it, once you select the campaign from the list you get the mission planning background and nothing else. There are no options to select. As for a snapshot of my BAT03B folder, I have no idea how to do that. What it contains is WAW3DO01 to WAW3DO20, WAWCOD01 and WAWSOUND01 SFS files. Sorry I can't be more helpful, as you can guess I'm not very computer literate.

I have rebuilt my DGEN from scratch and tried, I get the exact same thing now.
I recall testing your campaign positive once but now I get this as well!  Please check yourself by using vanilla BAT WAW Dgen and the current patch, then add your campaign files.

You should get the same result.

Let me chime in with my  BAT03B contents: WAWDO01.SFS-WAW3DO20.SFS, WAWCOD01.SFS, WAWSOUND01.SFS.
I too, don't have the skills to transfer my BAT03B folder from the game to this reply.
The DGen have used is located in my Game folder " IL2Sturmovik 4.12-BAT/DGen."

so for me, this campaign will disappear from my install, as I dont want to waste time getting something to run that then features unhistoric planes appear....

So who pissed in your cornflakes?  Geez.

That stated:
- This revised campaign was released when BAT 3.6 was the latest version and it did work then.
- I am in the midst of revising again so it will work for BAT 3.8.2 - making progress - should be done by next week.
- The campaign is an enhancement of work done by others some years ago - I never claimed otherwise.
- Now, about those non-Japanese planes:

    1. The Bf110 entry appears in the class file.  It is a holdover from another DGEN USN campaign and is meaningless to this campaign as it does not appear elsewhere.  I will remove it from the class file for my revision
     2. The Arado AR-196 is stand in for the Aichi E-13A "Jake" floatplane.  As comprehensive as the BAT plane set is there is still no Jake. Or even an F1M "Pete".  The AR looks very much like a Jake, performs the same function and has an IJN skin, so the AR will stay.
     3. I-185 I could not find at all and don't recall it being included in any case.  If you happen to remember where you saw it please let me know.

OK found the I-185 entry on the PacificPlanes.DB.  This was not added by me and probably was a stand in for the A5M4 "Claude".  So it has no bearing on my campaign revision.

yea I know my post sounded rather rude but was not meant personally, if it sounded like that, please accept my apologies...
its good to read that you are updating that pack and I really hope it will work then, as good USN campaigns are always rare to come by...
may I suggest to integrate the late war Corsairs into any rework too? the F4U-4 saw service towards the end of the war and might therefor be a better choice than
the F8F, because if you go into the what-if territory of a war that heads into 1946, there would be some more things to integrate as well to make the scenario plausible again..

from previous modded versions of the game, I know that messing with the DGen files with regard to modded planes might be tricky so working on files that are literally over ten years old and introduce new planes to a really very old program (DGen) might not work at all sometimes;
Best of luck for that as said...
do you know the old TruePacific campaign set? that might be a good base to work from to create a rather larger PTO based DGen set away from the stock content that is rather limited, due to its age....

and again, please take my apologies for sounding rude, that was unintentional....

Ahh...no offense really taken.

I could not get the F8F Bearcat to work.  Tried EVERY permutation of file change I could think of.  Oh well.
I will work on adding the F4U-4.
And I did find the E13A Jake & the FM1 Pete.  Forgot that the air file had a dedicated seaplane section (!). So, adding those and removing the Arado.

btw thats what I meant ... modded planes seem to not like being added to DGen that easily; IIRC thats why Asura was starting work on modding DGen.exe in the first place....

if you deliver an new PacificPlanes.DB, it would make a lot of sense to NOT edit something out of it.
It's an overhead file and editing stuff out may have negative effects on other campaigns. Make your additions but do not delete entries.

OK - no joy on the F4U-4.  Same issues as adding the F8F.   Sigh.   :(

Ahh..well. DGen is weird that way.

Anyway;
     -  I added some planes to the DBs.
     -  And to the PacificPlanes file.
     -  I'm testing what I got.
     -  All works so far.

yeah thats what I feared...the stock dgen we have to use is limited beyond repair and the only way would be to go with Asura´s dgen, but thats also a no go; i dont know how well DCG copes with modded planes, but I am too stupid for setting that up properly either;
thank god theres a lot of good stock campaigns nowadays...

Judging from his 3.0 pack he does the same but completely different...I got the USN Training missions pack from Motörhead, based in Asuras 3.0 Pack and had to rework all of those missions to fit them into BAT...
Problem is be has the same stuff but the classes are named differently and there is some new stuff thrown in, for example carrier lighting on request...
From what I gather, his DGen pack is like a mod pack, but based on new versions of the game...

Forget my previous coments. I have tried to add  F4U-4 and F8F without success.

Typhoons, Whirbelwinds, every new 190, 109 or Spitfire, B-26, A-26, Halifax, Lancaster, etc. are ok, but these two machines have something special.

There is no way, it doesn't matter to use pacificplanes.dat or subcampaignplanes.dat. in this case.

It doesn't matter if the plane is considered on board or not, Fighter or CFighter.

Neither option UseParkedPlanes works.

The result of DGenError is this :
- Without the mission distance set in config.ini:  "can't pickup starting base for new campaign" or
- With the mission distance set in config.ini:  "can't find suitable mission location."

the classes and type declarations look identical to F6F. Nothing special about them.
The only thing on these two is that they year starts in 1945. Make sure you run in 1945.

Yup.  Something is wacky here.
It is my understanding that the service dates are entries on the weapons DB.
Is that correct?
Or is there another file that needs to be checked/adjusted?

And I'm also getting a weird black floating player plane - SB2C in the water - whenever the SB2C shows up.
Any ideas on that one?

I tested the 3.6 version and it did work - for what I tested.
But I've done a LOT more testing for the version I'm trying to finish and now I'm wondering if there weren't issues lurking that I didn't discover earlier.

That stated, I really would not recommend rolling back to 3.6 as I'm pretty sure that would create issues for you.

ehm quick question and maybe it sounds stupid - but which version of DGen did (or do) you guys use? I know there is two versions for stock DGen out there and the issues you describe might be unrelated to BAT as the USN birds have not changed between 3.6 and 3.8....

I have two versions of the Dgen.exe, a 4.0.8.7 from 03.05.2008 and a 4.0.8.6 from 19.04.2008;
dont ask me how they differ, file size seems to be the same at 1,28 MB;

Made some progress tonight and learned 2 things:
1. DGEN is totes unforgiving with the slightest anomaly.
2. I kinda suck at file editing.

I am creating plane files for each campaign segment as DGEN seems to like that approach and I got all a/c - stock & mod - to load/fly successfully with that approach (the F4U 4 and F8F 2 too!).

But...always a but...the F4U 4 seems to work only with a default setting and it weapons load does not appear to be carbon copy of the F4U 1D.  Anyone want to troubleshoot that?

I think an issue may be how one translates the "weapons" file entries to DGEN "Planes" file entries.  They use (unfortunately) different formats.  Similar, but different.  And I also noted that some "Plane" entries use the pound abbreviation (lb.) and some don't - weird.  Example (from memory):

P40E = 2x500lb
SB2C = 1x1000

Anyone got a "Rosetta Stone" that shows how translate "weapon" entries to "Plane" entries?

Or you can make a mission with FMB and get the "coded name" from that mis file.
How loadout names are coded is under no rule. A modder could code a loadout "Grandmas_applepie" if they want. With weapons properties you can make it show as "2x 101lbs. Clotted Cream" in the game.
