Hallo,
with a long delay the Patsy is here.

About its datas and history i relay to the wip post.

The plane has a bombardier cockpit but it works only with 4.12 I have no idea why it doesn't work on BAT 4.2.1.

It is armed with 3 different kinds of bombs and a rear mg.

Credits go to:
CWatson for FM, classes and suggestions;
Artiglio for his beautiful skins;
Mick for shadows;
Gunny0134 for adding Ranwers japanes pilots and gunners;
Epervier for suggestions ;
Stanislao for issues searching and solving;
Pernix for fligth tests.

Installed BAT 4.2.3 update and... plane does not work. Is invisible in QMB and does not load as such.
Seems to be an interesting plane though...

From original Post:
The plane has a bombardier cockpit but it works only with 4.12 I have no idea why it doesn't work on BAT 4.2.1.

If it did not work with 4.2.1, there was a good chance that with an underlining incompatibility in BAT it would not work with 4.2.2 or 4.2.3.

Like with most things here, there is a way to resolve it and we have some smart modders that can figure it out...  I still have hope that things like launching seaplanes from battleships will eventually be resolved in BAT.

Thank you Dandolo, this is a great add-on, I appreciate your work on it 8),
after installation, the airplane was not visible in the QMB selection window and the log reported the lack of textures, the problem was solved by adding the Textures folder (although not all of them were required) from the #PILOTS FRANCE by Ranwers file.

log:

I think that the line is there because Pilot_Ja is missing his own eye_ja.tga

So what about renaming this texture "eye_ja.tga" and put it in Ranwers Japan pilots Textures folder ...?

still would  be worth investigating what happens without the line one eye texture in the txl file

Downloaded Ranwers Texture folder from Pilots_France with the link Piotrek1 sent through.
Plane became visible in QMB, flies and seems to be ok, except for the bombardier cockpit Dandolo refers to in his first post.
Nevertheless, magnificent plane. Unconventional fuselage and large wings which were needed to fly at high altitudes. A truly remarkable long range reconnaissance bomber with pressurised cabin...
Great work!

... I added the missing Eyes_FR texture to the KI-74 Textures folder, so you only need to unzip the new folder and replace the original one with it ...  ;)

Urgent Check Request :

The wheels appear to rotate in the opposite direction when taxiing.

And for AIs, it would be nice to close the canopy at the same time as they start taxiing. Because the opened canopy is too attached to the ground.

Or how about adjusting the angle of opening the canopy a little bit ??
Title: Re: Tachikawa Ki-74 Patsy
Post by: Dandolo513 on July 07, 2024, 09:00:09 AM
Hallo,
i will check when i will come back to home monday.
For the canopy 's angle it needs to work on classes and It needs a java modder.
But I have noted it doesn't happen every time the AI works.

Generally speaking, all opened canopy close just before take-off.

If this action is related to !SAS_Engine_Mod and is common to all planes...I'll take it for granted as it as inevitable.

Because maybe I'm thinking too much !!

Thank you.

Hallo,
first of all thanks to Gunny0134 for suggestions.
Well,
CWatson have modified the canopy opening angle reducing of 5 degrees
(https://i.postimg.cc/j2dJFBJ2/canopy-new.png) (https://postimg.cc/qhSRtbwH)

I have made a comparison between thw 2 value using a aircareer deck as surface.
it seems the original canopy isgood the same .
(https://i.postimg.cc/vmtTw3yV/canopy-orig.png) (https://postimg.cc/Y4jM1Nhr)

I have edited the left wheel rotation on hier.

It needs to modifY:
[GearL1_D0]
Mesh GearL1_D0
Parent GearL2_D0
Separable
Attaching 0.9 0 0 0 0.9 0 0 0 0.9 1.8 -0.1 0

to

[GearL1_D0]
Mesh GearL1_D0
Parent GearL2_D0
Separable
Attaching -0.9 0 0   0 -0.9 0   0 0 0.9  1.8 -0.1 0

About the canopy opening during the take off, on my side , using AI, i can see the canopy closed after the second engine has started.

I think is a good situation.

I add the link to the update with these editing

https://www.mediafire.com/file/3q1uqq6lzed910g/Tachikawa_Ki-74+Patsy+update1.rar/file

I size the opportunity to ask an help from a Modder to solve the Bombardier canopy issue.

Best regards

I think is a good situation.

I will understand this as a difference in the BAT version.

After all, it seems like what I asked for is a problem with the low BAT version... not necessarily having to actively solve it !!

Lastly, please check the rotation status of 'GearR1' one more time.

Thank you.

My last request on 4.12.2m, BAT 4.1_WAW :

I feel it very annoying that canopy(blister) is opening and closing, especially when Patsy take off from a carrier.

It seems to me that the canopy would rather not work.

If you tell me the code value that makes the canopy work, I will deactivate the canopy.

Thank you.

PS: The wheel's reverse rotation problem was personally solved using Jeronimo's '! Mod Wheels V5.3'.

Now the plane is not displayed in the lists at all. The problem was even before the map was loaded. You open a simple editor and a menu for selecting weapons on this aircraft, and the model window floats away as in old versions of Windows))) ::( ::( ::( ::(

It seems to be a problem with 4096-DLL.

Even if you installed the DLL, try installing it again.

Remove Ki-74 under Bf-109E4 on Air.ini and put it under Ki-61...in the JAPAN section.

You can include "2" when you put it in.

PS : I'm not saying you did anything wrong. Even if you put it on Air.ini like that, it should be on the list. But it still doesn't come out, so let's give it a try.

Is it a unique characteristic of high version BAT ??

Anyway, I'm glad too that it works well.

No. But this mod has a few peculiar issues I can't fully understand. The incorrect air.ini line is just one of them.
It works in the game (BAT too, aside from the bombsight, which I'll fix for an update), but under the hood it does strange things.

Hallo,
as a very welcome present by Master Vampire Pilot, here it is the KI-74x  modified to launch the Okha version 11.

Vampire Pilot have modified the plane , the Okha and created the necessary classes.

As it is possible to see on pics, it works and the missile is launched. I have done a mission to test and it works on AI.

The missile doesn't hit the target in my mission,  but i can suppose it should be due to my very poor skills on buliding missions.

Hi, Dandolo !

Is this last Ki-74X complete, including the original Ki-74, or must both planes be installed in the game ???

Thank you Dandolo and Vampire pilot, in my opinion this is a very important and needed addition to the Far Eastern theatre of operations 8), unfortunately I have not yet managed to test but hope to do so soon.

Hallo Piotrek and thanks.
I have followed the instructions received from forum about how make it possible to hit a targer with the Okha.
Well, it seems necessary to launch from an altitude higher than 1000 meters.
It is a very amazing effect but it is sad to think to those brave men died on this weapon.

Thank you Dandolo for the tips, I will try to apply them to the game in the near future,
my English is very poor, but I think we wouldn't want to make those very difficult decisions that these brave people made not once on both sides.. I hope they found peace.

Best Regards,
Piotrek

Hello Dandolo513

I am playing BAT 4.2.3.
I tried to attach the MXY-7-22 Okha to the Ki-74X but unsuccessfully, the game crashs. When flying the Okha or the Ki-74X separatly, it's OK.
To attach the Okha to the Ki-74X , I did it the standard way. Okha behind the Ki-74W, same altitude , I set the Ki-64X as a target in the 1st waypoint of the Okha.
Here below the log.txt excerpt, it seems that the issue is related to the P1Y1kai plane which I do not have in my install.
I do have the P1Y1 plane but not the kai version.
Could you provide a working mission  as an example ?
Thanks in advance

Hello ansons,

This error is related to this mod and concerned an older version of it :

please, update the version of G8N aircraft and try again,

I could be wrong, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

2 things: the ki-74 uses the ohka tye 11, not the 22.

Secondly, that error with the the type 22 has been addressed some time. Seems you have old files.

It works flawlessly in Vp modpack if you use MXY-7-11 or MXY-7-11B and as already mentioned Vampire pilot, Ki-74X cannot be in tandem with MXY-7-22,
Once again, Big Thanks to Dandolo and other team Members.

Hello,

Putting the Ki74X folder above in #WAW3 folder did the trick, I get the MXY-7-11 docked to the Ki74X. But how can we release it when flying the Ki74X ? The bomb release button does not work... When we are flying the MXY-7-11 and be docked to the Ki74X how can we ask the Ki74X to release us ?

Any idea ?

Attach/detach aircraft key. Assign it if you don't have already.

Thanks Vampire_pilot that did the trick !
It's very cool to be convoyed by the Ki74X and then to detach and dive to the target below !
