France is not a minor power but his planes are less know than the ones from the British or German ones.

actually as far as air power goes...French designs  were the most prolific especially from Nieuport. 

Fokker, Albatross, Sopwith, Siemens, as well as Russian, American, and Italian air craft designers copied them.

If you look at the Bristol Scout, the Sopwith Pup, the Fokker D II, the Siemens Schukerts....as well as the Albatrosses you see alot of what Nieuport put into thier designs.

Great War aircraft profiles are so colorful and eye-catching.  They have no comparison when it comes to being original and artistic. Many of these are absolutely lovely.
