LOL :D That's because this repaint is about the map of Saburo Sakai and Porto72, and NOT the stock map. The dimensions of this map are different, so you can't use stock missions or campaigns made for stock Hawaii map.
Another different thing would be to repaint the stock Hawaii map using the textures from this one... maybe if I have time some day :)

Ya I figured as much, just thought it was funny so I posted it up.
So are there any campaigns you know of that are compatible with this map, or is it more for use in the FMB?

There's a nice Pearl Harbour mission made by fabianfred I think, you can get the link in the original thread of this map in AAS site I think. But hope you have a good PC, there are MANY planes in that mission :D

This map is a lot more interisting than the stock map IHMO. All islands, many authentic objects and lots of airfields at Oahu. Brings my PC at its limit at times, but the beauty combined with the huge size (flying from Hawaii all the way to Nihue takes some time. ;D) makes a nice simming experience.

I modified my load.ini (after backing up) with an alternate water color, if someone is interested I can load that up with WhiteCat's permission. As usually in that map, I used CzechTexan's Puerto Rico map's  with his lighter blue water colors. Maybe a bit too light blue in this case.

TBH I like both ways, WhiteCat's water and the 'frankenized' version. I can post a screeny if required.

I solved this one installing all objects packs indicated in AAS website for this Mod. I have a bunch of duplicates to clean up though. Regards,

Hi White Cat!

The following objects appear to be missing from my static.ini file and i can't save misions with your map:

buildings.House$FordIslandTower
buildings.House$Human_09D

Could you please indicate which objects mod(s) are these from?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.

All you fellows need is in the first post there at AAS, just follow the instruction notes and read the readme,
3-4 mods required IIRC:

http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=21776

After downloading the map and the objectspack and installing one additional mod (link included in readme) the map was good to go. You will need a.o. the new tarmac plates.

Hope that helped..

Regards

Tom

Hi Whitecat,

I tested the new textures as soon as I could spent some time and I am asolutely satisfied with the results. The different textures are harmonised and they dont look cartoonish anymore. The representation of the vulcanic islands in terms of colours has turned out well.
I would say, that this should be the new standard for our hawaiian islands map. Perhaps it would be a good idea to simplify the install procedures by offering only one installation file (with the new textures).

Good job Whitecat,

Porto72

Thanks Porto72! I'll see what I can do about the installation when I have time, thanks so much for your feedback, makes me think that it was worth I did the repaint. Again it wouldn't have been possible without your fantastic work in the Map_T and the allocation of objects. Cheers!

For problems a lava colours and other things i will "defend" a litte Whitecat's work. Never forget guys that IL2 is really a shit in terms of how it deal with colours. It's very, very, very hard to get something photorealistic.

And there is always the same problem, the lack of textures slots. With texture slots we could do much better maps and bring an incredible veriety to the landscapes. I can speak with exprience here at least for that point. I know zipo about java classes, so i can't speak about FX or 3d modeling, or FM for planes, but textures....i know. I'm maybe the only guy here, with certainly Agracier, Mixx and Viking to create a set of textures for each map.

You did a good work for this map Whitecate. I wouldn't have done it in the same way but it's fun to see that people can produce different things with a same subject. Many thanks man.

Thanks for the kind words. I may not use totally original textures in my maps (and in some of my maps I do, not to talk about me being one of the few people here who uses their own forest textures) but I make a very good effort in mix different textures, in making them look seamless, and change carefully their colours to make them mix more naturally. One can spend days in selecting selecting textures in Google Earth and more time in changing the map_T and then ruin everything because he didn't spend 30 min in eliminate the seams of the textures or because the woods at long distance don't match well with the fields or the mountains to give only 2 examples :) just my two cents about texturing ;)
