Yes, you´re right. Is the last beach in the northern part of "Cabo de Gata" natural park  ;)

Ufflakke helped out on the templates. Sidi Ifni itself is so limited in size, that we might possibly get it all on the map, with an actual texture of the city itself. That should be fun.

A preview of two templates.
First one shows a Spanish army encampment based on an image I found of that region.
Second screenshot shows a nomadic settlement.
Other templates will follow next time.

Simply FABULOUS!!!  8)  Superb screenshots and a spectacular map you are creating.
I was going to suggest some Beduin camps with tents and camels/horses, but looks like you
have not forgotten them. They look magnificent. CONGRATULATIONS!
I am going to suggest for some parts of the map, if you want, to not overpopulate them
with so many brick houses , but rather make a small village, here and there separated by some
distances, and make the houses look like wooden Huts. like you see on the pacific maps. There
are many tribes in the Sahara that still live in small villages built with wooden huts near
a little oasis with palm trees.
The next great step for these great African maps would be to find or create some animals, like
gnus, lions, zebras, antelopes and elephants. No need for many other types of animals, just these.
And then place them randomly around the maps in no particular setting as if they are migrating or
walking about. When I lived in Africa we used to see many animals of the sort all over the place, even
Zebras and Gnus in the desert too.
I just remembered, one could paint horses to look like Zebras and cows to look like African Buffalos and Gnus! AHAHAH!
Sheep could be painted with a skin to look like antelopes!  ;D

Was me doing the zebra's for instance but that buffalo wasn't very succesful. Still looked like a cow, a very hairy cow.  ;D

Don't worry about the map being overpopulated. It will cover a large enough area that would be very hard to populate densely should we even wish to. The desert will be immense and mainly empty, though it must be said that nowadays, seen from satellite, that part of Morocco looks relatively densely populated and cultivated.

In any case, there won't be many towns or villages as such. Mainly empty terrain.

Here's a view of what has been populated so far:

On a more fully populated map like Madrid for instance, the terrain is virtually covered by red dots when seen in the FMB at full screen size.

This is a picture from Lawrence of Arabia (Aqaba). It was filmed in Almería (Spain) near where I live on holydays.
P.D.:It was a setting built for the movie

This must have been somewhere in the Cabo de Gato area I suppose? We were there last summer and it is a place of desolation and beauty, full of old fortifications and gold mines (abandoned and mined out). It was also an area used by Barbary pirates well into the 17th and 18th centuries, because of its many protected coves and inlets surrounded by high cliffs.

But this is just an aside ...

As in the Pogues song "Fiesta"?

A few screenshots of the populating of Sidi Ifni, the main city on the map. The urban texture is of a satellite view of the city itself and the map now almost looks as if Sidi Ifni was populated street by street to a fairly accurate degree.

The populating of the town was done entirely by Uufflakke ...
