This way to use town textures, and set the buildings along the streets, is simply the best idea.
Once again respects for this job it's a new step in map creation.

Don't forget it's uufflakke who's doing Sidi Ifni city ... and who made a lot of the other templates the other villages on the map use ... and without his ideas and approach to populating to emulate, I'd just be another under-average practitioner of populating Il-2 maps.

Well not sure about that, Agracier, your textures are excellent. Possibly I'll use one of them or a modification of it for Hawaii (if it's OK). But I didn't know about uufflakke, what an artist!

Use whatever you wish from any map I've posted ... it's all there to be of use should anyone think it good for their maps or projects or whatever ... I've used textures from other members as well - redko, mixx, compans - and the more is shared the better maps and mods and aircraft get ...

Very nice team work Agracier/Uufflakke. Ideed the use of texture and bildings over it, respecting the texture pattern is the best idea to avoid the stock clty textures. I never liked how the cities looked on Il2. Not only for the textures but also the density of object...it never looked real.

Waiting for that map. How much do you think guys this will be published ?

We offered up one whole texture slot for the one city only, but in this case it seems worth it. It was also a case of it being feasible as Sidi Ifni is really a relatively small city, more like a large overgrown village perhaps ... most houses look the same as they did in the 1930-40's photos we've found and this also helped out when using the satellite view of the place for the texture. But this way of doing cities won't work on every map though ...

We're really hoping to finish the map for Christmas, or let's say a bit before. That's more traditional I suppose nowadays. It could probably be finished in a few days if it weren't for the Canary Islands. There are only 5 texture slots left for the islands which is probably enough, but not an abundance as apparently Lanzarote has a different terrain than Fuerteventura. But in this case we'll probably gloss over that.

And we still need to texture the islands properly and then populate them. But if all goes well ... then it will be for this year Christmas ... fingers crossed and touching wood ... ha ha

Ouch...i know the problem of missing slots very well. It's a complicated topic, sometime you need to sacrifice one texture for another one more general but able to used on more parts of the map.

Paint a map is a matter or economy...i would say ecology = use things at max with loosing the minimum, no garbage all must be used .

Good luck guys. I hope to release mine too at the same time.

Just can't stop watching the pic. Lejo is doing a very nice work in terms of populating. The textures are nice too, maybe your best ones Agracier. Is this going to be your best map ever ? ::)
