Any chance of seeing Ifni airfield? IIRC it was a dirt field before 1960, then was converted to concrete one.

On page 4, the first image on my post is of the Ifni airfield showing the buildings at one end.
On page 2, near the bottom are 2 images with a yellow skinned aircraft (Texan?) flying over Ifni airfield ...

On the map it will be a non-concrete runway in any case, using one of compans airfield textures.

We tried to make an original airfield texture using a Google Earth screencap, but it didn't come out very well ... Compans texture look very similar in any case ... it is also populated as if there were a military build-up happening, with camouflage netting and tents and sandbags and the like ... the map airfield will be a militarized airfield, not a civilian airfield

Let me tell you that Ifni has some better restaurants than this one. Their lamb steak is good though...  ;D

Amazing Uufflakke, and my sincere apologies for accidently messing with your name. Typical Tom early morning idiot typo. :-[ Already taken care of. ;) (I also typed Whitecat instead WhiteCat, fixed. :'( )

As a fan of your buildings I look much forward to agracier's and redko's new maps.

Regards

Tom

Outstanding map!  Great teamwork as before.  Each new map seems to raise the bar making it better than the preceding.
I'm very impressed with that texture for the one city.  Adding the buildings to the real city layout increases the realism.
It's always great to learn more of the world's geography!

agracier, a while back you mentioned something about remaking the Singapore map.  Is that still a plan?
And what about Spain's Galicia?

Yup, it's still in the works, but the thing is to get it finished ... as you said, new maps raise the bar and that makes it harder, or certainly longer to get a map done as it should be ...

Galicia - that might have been the present one instead of Ifni, but after a Madrid map I thought maybe to take a break from Spain ... and also, the area is huge with lots of large sized cities ... always a big work that ...

But anyway, Spain is always in mind ... Andalucia and Baleares could do with a repop as well ...

OK,  good to know it's still on your mind and in the works.  No rush as I'm still enjoying all the others out there.  Wish I had more free time to enjoy it all.  Never seem to have as much free time now as I did during the summer.  Good day!

Just a little update on the map with a few screenshots of land and villagescapes in the glow of the setting desert sun. There's also a Spanish Foreign Legion camp near the border with insurgent areas. If you think the French Foreign Legion were though customers, then you'll have to tackle with the 'Novios de la Muerte' and see if you survive the encounter.

Uufflakke is also working on making QMB missions that will be released together with the map when it's finished so that members can get right into the action. And some action it will be, not just your standard red and blue aircraft with waypoints on a heading towards each other. There will be quite a bit more. Here's Uuuflakke's description of a bluenone mission, which I just tried out:

'Attached a quick mission for Army BlueNone.
Just a few minutes before you engage enemy planes.
Besides dogfights be aware of AAA and enemy fire from the sea!
In case you want to attack the ships remember this convoy includes some hospital ships away from the battlefield to the save haven of the Canary Islands. Or are you that cruel to sink a ship full of heavily wounded Spanish soldiers?
From the north two army troop ships are approaching to take their places. Buses are waiting to transport them to the army camp.
Ambulances are on their way back from the hospital ships to the army camp.
Tanks and trucks are moving through the Moroccan desert.'

100% agree...the worst is when you have to restart a map  >:(
