the name option doesn't work very well with ships, Col. - due to the way the skins work, the name will be reversed on the opposite side.
nothing to be done about it, i'm afraid.
better to not have it, than have it and it looks wrong. ;)

For me the problems of skinning on a .tga image is that then when saving I loose the "masks" and this causes problems in the FMB...

Please explain what you mean by this. Are you "painting" the .tga? What program are you using to paint with? How are you saving this .tga after you paint it? Where are you saving it? What kind of problems in FMB?

Hi!

Try to check the dimension of the modified tga image!

If less then original you should uncheck any compression option when saving....

IL-2 does not like tga's created by Corel Paint -- no idea why.

Use Gimp, Photoshop Elements or Photoshop -- no compression.

because have different header, same export tga from 3dsmax and similar vector appz, IL2 donĀ“t read it.

Paint it on a separate place of the targa and paste it there using alpha. (That's what Archie told me actually, but I haven't used it so far :D )
