Great news!! I almost forgotten about that FW-190.
What a great find and what a great recovery project too! Big Cheers to the teams involved!

It is not yet flying, but at least we now have a real BMW engine so Jafa can record the sound from it!

Ahhh if only I had a pilots licence and won the 31million New Years Eve lotto draw.

Thanks for sharing Mick, great to hear an orginal FW engine singing.

heh really lookin forward to when she gets up here. gonna be out at the end of the runway in a heartbeat when I hear shes inbound.

guess their Hellcat made a "first flight" of sorts too. They raised the landing gear for the first time in about 60 years. Talking to one of the guides there, he said it'd probably be another couple years before it flies. But they recently took their A6M3 off to some secret location to be restored to flight status

The pilot who test flew the FW-190 on that day was Steve Hinton. He is the president of "Planes of Fame" in Chino, California.

I never did find any video of the test flight but here is some video of the FW-190 and an original Bf-109 in flight in August 2011.

Planes of Fame also have a nice Flugwerks  "new build" at the museum.
A couple of short videos I took  of the B-17 Fuddy Duddy leaving after the airshow at Chino in May 2010. In the foreground of the videos is the Flugwerks FW-190 "new build."

And some pictures I took at the January 2011 Monthly event at Planes of Fame.

There are some pictures of the P-38 Glacier Girl and several other planes with a few videos thrown in of my visits to the PoF museum at the SimHQ link.
