I have been looking for missing objects and I realized one of the links in "Install Notes.txt" is broken. It is the liknk to WWI objects. Does someone know a new link to them? On the other hand, I could load a quick mission in my 4.09, but failed to load the playing because can't find Regiment "es01".

Voila:
Done for now, will upload later..

Edits done for now:

Features:
Added city objects as good as possible at present day areas..not everywhere, only in Sidi Ifni's capital and sourrounding.
USE of stock Ifni map houses aka Desert- & SE Houses by Uufflakke, Egypt houses etc. and some other objects, also the Mideast objects at rare locations.

Added harbour and docks at its (relative) reallife location. As I never did that ever, I am sort of proud of it, compare to satellite view. However, I did not lay down the houses in Ifni in the geometrical pattern seen in reallife and also did not rotate the main city core south since that would have totally messed up the tiles.

Added new suburb a few km northeast, at its reallife location.

Repainted agraciers texures, added one new bumpfile to an agracier texture from another map which I used for Airfield1..

Use of Uufflakke's desert trees.
Added in a lego-like 10 hours laydown western airfiled population according to reallife footage.
..Olive trees en masse. (Good pop up behaviour.)

Water colour turned to bright summer blue with greenish glow and Bombsaway's DesertDeadCoralF Shallow.
Once the upload is done, I can give some tips if you prefer a greener setting, actually super easy to change.

Some details like houses on current runway left out for obvious reasons.

Some reallife shots:

----------------------

Airbase in front, docks in far southwest

New suburb northeast, will most probably also edit the underlaying tile as later project along with forest desert mask.

Goal was to bring this  map to a relative present date-like look for chillout or 70s action missions ;).

I can also upload the tex only with its default map static.ini and MapT  for WWII purists. I keep one less extreme repaint but TBH my current version is more my taste.
Edit:
I plan to also add a forest mask some day later this month, will also recheck city tiles for newly added suburb. For now it`s good enough.

Off to work now, see ya later.

That map will look best at 07.00 to 00.00 and 16-18.00. :)

 :)

Re: New Map - Ifni - Spanish Territory in Africa Tom MOD Ifni modern
« Reply #52 on: July 11, 2012, 10:52:35 AM »

Agracier: Thanks again for this wonderful map!
I will pm you my research photo shots today.

Note: This is just a mod, and intend is not to replace agracier's and Uufflakke's work, rather add a 2nd modernized variant for the capital (plus recolour.)  Hope you like it, almost drove me nuts.

2 versions, one to replace Ifni and one identical renamed Sidi Ifni2 as stand alone install. ..which is IMO the better choice. :)

I checked twice but all the time during modding the map I worked with the default texture target folder.
I TBH would always keep the other link just in case.

However, game seems to not care, both versions run. ;)
Modded in DBW and tested in 4.09 older version Histomod.

Added Uufflakke's Quicks renamed and edited to work with the Sidi Ifni2 version.

Changes only in actors.static, map_T.tga and textures plus water.

Will edit minor details and work on convincing desert scrub forest.

You will need Uufflakke's desert trees:

https://www.mediafire.com/?2eoy1sdqm382m7p

All ini entries in folders.

The quick missions in the Ifni2 mod are only for the Ifni2 map. The default quicks are in this thread-

--------------...that`s it.-----
Just awesome how much work and detail agracier and Uufflakke put into this map. IMHO a masterpiece of labour, must have taken a year to create.

------------------------------

For water:
If you do not like the water color open up the load.ini.
You find soimething like this
waterXX    red - green- blue
Ati:      0.0053 0.230 0.380
NVidia  0.0053  0.2400.390

If you want more green either reduce blue and increase green or increase or reduce both values asymmetrically.
EG
water
Ati:      0.0053 0.245 0.370
NVidia  0.0053 0.255 0.380

..etc will gradually increase green.

Not sure on daytime there, following ones where that time.

New

Tom

PS
Today partially reverted to my initial texture progress, so what you get will more look like this, here 17.00 with hazy.

Cheers

Tonight I worked another 15 hours on this map mod..
Despite the fact that no one gives a cent here I will upload the results this evening or night.  ;)

I worked hard to finish and nail out irregularities from my Ifni city modern era version, finished the harbour, checked trees and textures. Closing 120 hours here. :D

All tex are indexed BTW except the shallows by Bombsaway which I kept the way it is.
All tex have bumpfiles except the shallows.

Tonight I finished an alternative version after the above mentioned edits with the entire coastal area dunes set with a replacement simulating scrubs. Will playtest it now and add this to the upload.

So no more text, a few shots and the links.

Regards

Little text.. :-\

Final version, tomorrow I will add a one in all dowbload with all in.

Download for textures. Delete the map part.

Desert trees by uufflakke

Here the new map folders
One with scrub forest at the coastal dunes one without. Added a little easy manual on how to play with various "scrub" patterns. It's basically two layers of jungle forest and it looks quite kickass.

Maps go into
Files/maps.

Or
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#DBW\Mapmods\Maps

Or wherever you store maps.

E.g. Mods/Mapmods/Maps.

Textures go into the _Tex named folders inside your map folders.

Add to all.ini:

ag_uf_Ifni2 ag_uf_Ifni2/load.ini

Credit and big thanks to agracier for allowing me to mod his work.
And to Uufflakke of course.

Reworked the harbour.
On its correct position and with some (almost) reallife features.

Two versions, one with repainted yet scrub/bushless animation on dunes (default trees and object trees are independent!)

And one with a "scrub" forest layer on many coastal near areas after checking reallife and google stuff.
This is a workaround but one that looks very sharp once you got used to it.

The Ifni town and suburbs are completely restructured except for agracier's great core city-also added trees+..

I did all this due to admiration of agracier's work (and Uufflakke's).

If you like my mod or not, check out the Ag_Uf Sidi Ifni mapmod by agracier, it rocks!
You will see AMAZING villages.

Feedback welcome.

Thanks very much for the original map Agracier

@ Tom – this is a great modernization – really like the new detailed scrub look & apartments – using it for Beirut / Lebanon missions & having fun with IAF vs Syrian jets. Very cool – thanks very much for your great efforts.  ;)

Thank you for the friendly feedback gents, TBH I wasn't sure how others would judge it. :)

Mojojojo, I will upload the skin for you. IIRC it was part of a pack I downloaded for Histo Mod, will send the skins I have as pm since I am not sure whom to credit.

I try to upload a unified link for the mod tomorrow.

Again, Kudos to agracier and Uufflakke. They're masters of their hobbies.
