True I never was made to read The Little Prince, but I saw one of his books mentioned and now I cannot put them down. I will read the children's classic one day, meanwhile I am enjoying Saint Ex :)

With all these wonderful desert maps, it makes for great reading.

Thanks for this wondrous map

I must say this is one of my favourite 3 maps.
If you haven't done it:
Chose a RedNone Quick mission in DBW (or another modpack) and select the jeep and "Scramble".
Drive outside (and inside) the airbase and head to the coastal town, starting with the village at the hillside.
What Uufflakke and Agracier built there would easily stand a test as an ego shooter environment.
A few screens alone can't describe what I saw last night.
Huge Cheers again, one masterpiece of a map. Resides in every IL-2 install I have.

 :) :D ;D

Thanx...
It is time consuming to make templates and populating cities. And the same for creating missions. I added a lot of ground activity to the quick missions as you might have noticed.
I feel sorry for guys like Le0ne who made a lot of missions.  ;D
I still want to create some random trees for this desert map. With the default ones it looks too bright green.
And besides that I want to add bump files to the Sidi Ifni map so the terrain looks more rugged like I tried out on the Ifni and airfield texture:

Just saw these screens, IMO they look very decent, the map itself is such a cool ground for action.
 :)
I noticed the ground activity in the Quick missions, from jeeps to tanks to birds to static objects and camels. Very complex missions, mission building at that level is for sure really time-consuming.

I look forward to your new projects (and the bump files :D). And of course to new redko projects such as his Tunesia remake.

I repainted the random trees so they fit better on the Sidi Ifni map. Not that saturated green trees anymore and including a scorched tree and scorched shrubs.
Now colours of foliage trees match with Agracier's textures. (Note that it will only effect this map so these desert trees won't show up on any other map.  ;) )

Download link + readme here:
https://www.mediafire.com/?qana3luuh8276d9

Install instructions:
After extracting drop the folder ag_uf_Ifni in:
 #DBW (or#UP# or your Mods folder) /MapMods/maps/
(the only thing I changed in the load.ini is the Tree0 entry)

and

Drop the 3 tga's in:
#DBW(or#UP# or your Mods folder)/MapMods/maps/_Tex/Trees

If one of the above mentioned folders is missing in your install you need to create one.

Thank you very much, Uufflakke! The trees look gorgeous! :)
Blumax: This map has houses, small villages and installations all over the terrain, really fun to explore! I recommend 16.30-17.30, a very nice lighting-time for deserts and dry regions, textures look great then.

..Just installed. :D

@Blumax: Glad you had a funtime flying at these simtimes! The new trees look very fine from all distances, at low altitude they blend very nicely with the background.

Please! Include all the seven islands from the Canary Islands. I live in Gran Canaria!!!!!
What about the ficticious campaign that Spain joined Axis and the Allies try to invade the Canary Islands!
It was apossiblity and probably one of the main reasons why Franco did not joined Hitler after the Endaya meeting!

How can one use a map after placing it in the #DBW/MapMods/Maps?
I cannot find them in the QMB!

A while ago, a few weeks ago, I restarted trying to get the Marruecos map going again. It's not the Spanish Sahara, but still one of the Spanish overseas protectorates from before WWII and a bit afterwards too. But the map is too large with too many diverse and different landscape types. I managed to get the coasts and mountains looking very nice, but then there were no slots left to do the interior or the deserts properly. So I just gave up. Maybe some day I'll try for a smaller part of Spanish Morocco.

As for the Spanish Sahara itself, it's an idea, but I don't know if the landscape would be significantly different from that in Ifni. And what I really try to do with maps is to give them each a different type of landscape, a different look one from the other, a different visual appearance, so that each feels different when flying, even if only by the peripheral colors or general atmosphere conjured up by the landscape.
