I have installed the map making version of il-2 1946, and all is working fine.

I was wondering though, i have added a generic factory complex to one of my maps, is there any way i can group select the objects so that i can copy/paste and rotate them, so that i do not have to build from scratch each time?

thanks for any replies

Hi Slipper,

You should be able to do this by  pressing and holding ALT and holding down left mouse button, draw a box around the area you want to copy and let go, all the objects within the box will be marked in red, then press CTRL and C together to copy, all the red markers will disappear but all the objects will be copied, find an area on any map you like and press click on with mouse and then press CTRL and V ......voila!!

Yep that's possible as well, in FMB go to EDIT find ROTATE ALL OBJECTS and check box then click on anyone of the group of objects you want to rotate so that it's highlighted in yellow, click right mouse button and UNSELECT (or this will be the only object to rotate) then use the arrow keys to rotate the whole group

p.s Also does anyone know if there are some curved railway tracks please, i can only find a few items of rail track under the 'railyard heading' there is a straight section, two rail switches and a few items of multi rail yard track, but i can not find any rail bends or crossovers. I am running DBW 1.6

In FMB look under KDP Road plates for more rail track with bends and crossovers

I make my own maps and texture and populate them purely for personal use and occasionaly by request, i've only ever put one up for download i leave that for the experts who do it so much better but i just trawled the posts and asked questions really to find out all the info i need and can now make all the maps i like in confidence, a lot of it is trial and error as well 8)

Hi again all,

I was toying with the idea of trying to make a mapmaking DBW install,as it has a really comprehensive set of maps and objects. The problem is though that all the maps are in sfs format, How would i go about extracting maps for editing, is it possible in DBW?

Thanks all

You will need to get the sfs extractor: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16581.0.html

You will also need to get a filelist.txt for DBW or UP 3.0. I would ask Boomer or an admin for that though because I don't think it's available online anywhere. The filelist.txt tells the sfs extractor what files are in the packed sfs files, so you need the UP 3.0 filelist in order to unpack all of them.

Yes I also have the new 4.10 SAS Mod act working in a new map editor install  :)
Usually the only big difference between patches for maps are just new added textures and or maps

In 4.10
The slot has all new map files and some new textures,
Moscow has a new map_t.tga and there are various default maps with new load.ini's
and that is about it for 4.10 and maps

Gerrit,
try these mods for working in map editor
they both work fine for me in 4.09 and 4.10

I made this to use with JSGME to switch back and forth with Unlocked FMB
https://www.mediafire.com/?nzxhognjend

4Gig IL2.exe by HaDeS , keeps Unlocked FMB from CTD on large maps
https://www.mediafire.com/?jbmwywj3byw

I know it is an old post, but it should be a sticky post IMHO.
The 4g il2fb.exe should be the last mod you must activate, or it could be overwritten by UP or HSFX if activated before, since those two great mod packs will overwrite the il2fb.exe with its own thing. HSFX6.0 will still work with that modified il2fb.exe. Good to leave it there if you happen to be on windows 7 64 bits and want the game to use more memory so it will need less access to the hard drive.
Boomer, you are a genius, I have looked for a good il2fb.exe replacement all day to be able to open very populated maps like the western front 40 and 44 maps. I am running my game on HSFX6.0 expert mode, and your exe works like a charm with it, activable through JSGME. I also created other small mods that automatically switch FMB to unlocked mode, just by creating a folder named unlocked FMB in jsgme, and put the modified bldconf.ini in it. I can then activate and deactivate it at will.

You can also install a fresh modded copy of your DBW modded install, activate your DBW mod to get all the stuff, make it a mapmaking copy, get the 4GB exe file to activate through JSGME, unlock FMB, and open the map you want in FMB to edit it.

Following the instructions given in the first post of this thread, I replaced the bldconf.ini and added the lines given here to the conf.ini in order to create a map making version for DBW 1.7.1. When I open a map and zoom in, I get a black screen with a grid and a white square in the center. Except for objects included on the map, e.g. buildings, runways, etc., I cannot see the details of the map landscape when I zoom in. Does any one know how to fix this problem?

Cheers,
