Gerax,

Perhaps, my use of the word "texture" is inappropriate. In any case, for IL-2 4.09m, there is a JSGME mod called 'FMBplus'. One of its features was to make runway, taxiway, road, river and railroad track sections available on the objects list. For example, if you wanted to put add a railyard on a given map, everything you need, buildings and railroad tracks are available to the mission builder in FMB as an object.

This was an absolutely great feature to the mission builder who is not also a map maker. I hope that FMBplus will be included in DBW. As for now, I've found that it is only available in 4.09m.

Cheers,

Hello Joe! Long time no see...I just registered here today.

I have seen screenshots of your nice Channel map! Great! If I may add my little 2 cents to your work, I would like to point you to Carpiquet for instance: this may be done on purpose, but if this is Carpiquet in 1940, it is OK except none of the individuals hangars and taxiways to them should be there; on the other hand, for 1944, the concrete runway is then missing.
As far as Lille or Abbeville are concerned, some similar kind of comments could be done, but I would not further elaborate at this stage, as I do not know if you want to keep exactly the same configurations for both versions (sorry, I have been out of sync with the works of map modders like yourself, GilB57 or Ashehouse lately)

Amically,

JV

Hi JV,

Nice to see you around again. That version of the map that I've posted screenshots from actually is covering 1940-1941, so I've had to make some compromises in terms of the exact configurations present. I know that some of the airfields have features that weren't there in 1940 but were in 1941. A second (and third) version has the 1943-44 and 1944-45 versions of the airfields. I didn't want to just to the airfields in 1940 because this map isn't a purely BoB map - instead it's for use for Channel operations in 1940-41, both Battle of Britain and the early RAF operations over France.

Cheers

Ok then!

Let me know if you need anything, if it were the case in the future...

Boomer,

I was not aware that FMB+ was available for DBW. I'll give this a try. Thanks :)!

Boomer,

I installed the FMBPlus Mod as follows:

"....\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\jsgmemods\#UP#FMBPlus_Mod"

Then I activated it using the "Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157".

However, when I called up IL-2 DBW and got into full mission builder, I found that the sections of roads, runways, railroad track and streams that were available with FMB Plus in IL-2 4.09 are still not available among the "Objects" listed in DBW.

Did I install the FMBPlus Mod incorrectly? Is there something else you can  recommend for me to try?

Cheers,

Hi CanonUK,

I'm currently preparing a Battle of Britain SEOW campaign using your excellent Channel 1940 map. The campaign is scheduled to launch 12 January and we're trying to get in 80 pilots with 2000 objects. We did a test a couple of days ago which ran acceptable but some pilots are having problems, mostly with lower systems. I'm _thinking_ this might be in _part_ because of the heavy textures in the current map which (if I understood correctly) should be much reduced in your new version.

So my question, when do you feel the map would be ready for testing? Do you feel it would be possible to use the new map for the campaign?  :P

Thanks for the hard work for our enjoyment!!

Many thanks!
Cheers,

A friendly bump from long ago.

Joe - are you still working on this?  Or are you focusing on Berlin first?

I'm focused on Berlin first, because I wanted a fresh start to get me back into the swing of things (I find it's easier to start something new than pick up in the middle of something). It's definitely still on the working board though

Thank you for the update.  Please be sure to post the volunteer call again whenever you are ready to move back to this map.
