and what do we learn from all this?
to change a Mobo, its processor and the RAM, there are some tools and spare parts involved.
a screwdriwer will be enough in theory, but if things go wrong, or the user is not used to do that kind of manipulation, things might get ugly pretty fast pretty sure.

OK, i finally got my new GPU, but it still says no signal detected. i installed it correctly, hooked up my monitor (which does work) correctly, and everything. i turn on my computer, everything starts up fine, but says no signal detected. it is supposed to show the image after i put the gpu in and turn on the computer right? is there some extra step im missing?

please quick reply, im really missing playing all the games i had on my computer :(

EDIT: oh S***....i smell something burning...i figured out it was my new GPU AND PSU........******* **** **********  ********

OMG!!!

This motherboard - did it come with a CPU pre-installed?

If it didn't and you installed the CPU yourself and you are getting a burning smell, did you apply a liberal layer of thermal grease between the CPU and the heat sink?? - IT MUST HAVE A HEAT SINK!!

This is important but particularly moreso with AMD chips as they generate far more heat than Intel chips!

How is the sound/audio atm are you getting any 'Beeps'?

The mainboard will be going friggin ballistic with audio warnings if the CPU is overheating!!!

Its not the cpu i know that. It smelled like it was coming from the psu and gpu, so im gonna return them for new ones.

Damn it, i feel so depressed. I honestly cant do anything right, i try fixing something and i make it worse.

If it's the GFX card this mainboard has a BIOS made by American Megatrends Inc (AMI) and it will Beep 8 times then pause then Beep 8 times and repeat this sequence until you shut it down (hold the on/off button in for 4 seconds).

Burning is not the first thing it will do - it will Beep first to give you a clue where the problem lies...

Got any photos of the card in place on the mainboard?

:)

EDIT:

AMI BIOS ERROR BEEP CODES

    * 1 Beep - Memory Refresh Failure (check memory)
    * 2 Beeps - Memory Parity Error in first 64KB block (check memory)
    * 3 Beeps - Memory Read/Write Error in first 64KB block (check memory)
    * 4 Beeps - Motherboard timer not functioning (possible motherboard replacement)
    * 5 Beeps - Processor Error (may need replacement Processor)
    * 6 Beeps - Gate A20/keyboard controller failure (possible motherboard replacement)
    * 7 Beeps - Processor Exception Interrupt Error (may need replacement Processor)
    * 8 Beeps - Display Memory Read/Write Failure (reseat or replace video card)
    * 9 Beeps - ROM checksum Error (replace BIOS chip or motherboard)
    * 10 Beeps - CMOS shutdown Read/Write error (possible motherboard replacement)
    * 11 Beeps - Bad Cache Memory - test failed (replace cache memory)

Something like that...

The Beeps are also there as a warning - ignore them for too long and something will probably fry!

Redrum - You aint no IT techie, no semiprofessional PC assembler or such, so why be down?

There you went off, incautious, speedy and not very patient into the dark and had no knowledge, which was necessary to guide your path. Don't be surprised to bang your head on something solid in these circumstances. Its like taking off in a Spit XIV if all you have ever flown before was a Tiger Moth...

Many of the necessary steps are so obvious to techs, that a uninitiated user cannot know it.
Eitehr have a Professional Tech do it, or have a buddy that has done this for a couple of Years next to you.
(no, not someone that has done this once or twice...)

My bad too. two days ago i  wanted to "'bump" this thread, but thought to myself
"we been guiding the Kid last time, when he gets the parts, he will call us to assist in the future steps if needed"

Yeah - don't get disheartened...

I am an "IT techie" it's my job and, amongst other things (troubleshooting software issues etc.), I get to build a complete system from scratch every couple of months, the first one was in 1999 and it had me in tears. It's never that simple in fact I can't remember the last job I worked on where I got it dead right first time...

All you need is patience and work through any problems you encounter in a methodical way.

Concentrate on getting an audible Beep from the system first because without a screen to look at it's the only aid you have to rely on...

Don't worry - you'll get there
