I meet with nearly the same problem with Ryujo in CUP. Other ships, added with me to WAW, are working without any questions.
The game loads without CTD, in FMB appears Ryujo, everything is working.
But any other ship is invisible. More over, then I try to replace Ryujo with any other ship (including defolt ships), this ship is also invisible. They become visible and working only after deleting Ryujo.
Open up the sfs files that goes with the boat and rewrite and check then it should show up and work. If that does not work then hard install and hope the update when comes out does not crash and burn

If ships appear ok in FMB but do not appear when playing the mission it may be that you have some text entries missing for gun parameters or hull parameters in ships.ini

The FMB viewer only needs to access the 3D model, whereas the mission file must load the other parameters too, so if they are missing the ship will not appear.

Hi folks,

has anyone a suggestion on the problem that planes do not get aligned properly on the Ryujo? The bombers (B5N2, D3A) even airstart when assigned to that carrier to take-off from. Besides, only 5 fighters may take-off from the Ryujo; the sixth starts in the air.

Please see the picture below:

I know this issue was raised earlier but I cannot get any carrier-take-off-mod (like from HSFX7) to work with SAS MODACT 6.1 and 4.13R04.
If I had the tools I could work on it myself and try to adapt the needed class files. But I do not know how to decompile them and prepare them again for this special JRE IL2 uses.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi folks,

the broken aircraft alignment on Ryujo still bothers me. In my opinion, it is not perfect but still a valuable addition to Il2.

The CTO mods from HSFX etc. do work a little to ease the problem (since they use folded wingspan instead of unfolded plane width), but the issue is not with the algorithm for take-off. I guess the mesh is still not properly set for the necessary take-off hook.

Therefore, the Ryujo carrier gets a smaller width (14) than the B5N plane (16). But the B5N is not wider or anyhow bigger than the carrier. Then you do not have to wonder why you cannot take off from it: its "simulated size" in running IL2 is much smaller than the mesh would offer.
Please find the pictures below which illustrate the upper bound for the ship's aft. This marks the end of the place reserved for take-off. It is not much, although there is plenty of space left. Maybe 6 additional B5Ns could be placed there.

For comparison you can take a look at the excellent Hiryu CV designed by damawo (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44814.msg502073.html#msg502073). He has built-in a great and pretty realistic take-off area (Maybe I should ask him for help.):

Does anyone have some hints how to solve this issue (enlarge the take-off zone)?
I know it should be doable.

most likely this is an Engine Mod issue, and nothing really to do with this particular ship.
i know i have similar issues with several of the Japanese CV's, with only about 4 or 5 planes at most spawning on the deck, any more than that spawn away from the ship on the starboard beam, and crash straight into the sea.

As far as I have figured out the problem with only a few planes spawning on some carriers is caused by the meshes of the ship. Whenever a ship is loaded into IL2's engine some place is allocated for landing and take-off as well as for the wires to be functional. These places are based on the hooks found in the msh-files.

For instance, the stock Shokaku CV has a mesh-file that defines the farthest take-off place near the last wire on the flight deck. This is far from historic aircraft line-ups seen on pictures.

I am not familiar with 3D modeling, so it is hard to find a workaround. Best solution would be to enlarge or correct the hooks in the msh-files. The stock aircraft spawn is not bad at all. On the contrary the carriers are just modeled too small internally.

Things can be improved with plane line-up on Ryujo:

But there is a serious problem: at a certain point during the take-off run the plane hits a hidden obstacle and loses one of its gear legs:

There is definitely something wrong with the carrier and its mesh or hooks. A collision box seems to be misplaced. It only happens on the left (port) side.
I tried other carriers and there are no problems when taking off much further aft on deck.

I would be thankful if western or anyone skilled with ship meshes could correct it.

Installed Ryujo on VP modpack (SAS modact 5.30). Faced a problem.
D3A, B5N and JCats A6M not spawn on deck. Only air start. A5M and stock Zeros spawn normally.
Used CTO or SAS Engine mod. Does not help.
Is there a solution to the problem?
Thank.

Have you tried using the later Ryujo mod(IJNRyujoCVLBETA120) found here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13254.108.html
Western did that one as a replacement for the original Ryujo mod by geo'.

Yes, I’m talking about IJNRyujoCVLBETA120.
Is the problem with D3A, B5N and JCats A6M is only mine?

The following is from the readme for IJNRyujoCVLBETA120:
Quote
note:
In default 4.09m or 4.10.1m, airplanes you can start on Ryujo are limited thier size.
A6M or A5M or smaller ones.
Larger... D3A or B5N is disable. They start in air.
This is default's "Carrier Take-Off AI" feature or bug.
Nothing to do for me.
If you have installed Ultr@Pack or HSFX, you may enable "Carrier Take-Off MOD" in JSGME.

Then you can start D3A or B5N On Ryujo well.
