I'm getting similar results. Ryujo can now carry nine Zeros and six Kates. This will make the ship much more useful for Modders looking to create a Ryujo campaign.

Zuiho is working too, thanks!

I'm going to start working on improving Soryu and Hiryu now as I can find their Hook Loc section. Still unsure how to find this section for Zuikaku and Shokaku though.

Compliments,

I found section in zuikaku, it is in hull3.msh, you may have to use mesh converter on it. well couldn't resist urge to mess with it, and set flights of kates and vals and got fairly good results. I am not sure just how many planes the japanese staged on their carriers.

Warduke, this is fantastic!

The Zuikaku can now carry a historically accurate amount of aircraft.

All I need to know is how to convert mesh files. Currently I am staring at an incoherent mess of hieroglyphics and pound signs.

Shokaku and Zuikaku carried 18x A6M, 27x D3A, and 27x B5N from late 1941 until June 1942. Following Midway it was decided to increase the Zero squadron strength up to 27 and decrease the B5N squadron to 18.

At Santa Cruz (Oct 1942) Zuikaku carried 21x A6M, 24x D3A, and 20x B5N.

Usually, either 6 or 9 A6M would escort strikes from fleet carriers during 1942. One ship would launch its dive bomber squadron whilst the other would launch its torpedo/level bomber squadron. Usually this consisted of 18 bombers for a fleet carrier but in the case of the Shokaku class could include up to 27 if necessary.

Hope you can get back to me on how to convert the mesh file to something readable.

Salute,

Tokyo Express

First thing, you need this,  https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3004.0.html
Then run converter, in file tab select Load Msh and then find and open the msh file.
You should see a blue dot and Scene.
open file tab, and Save to Msh (text) then you can read it.

Warduke,

It's working !

9x A6M and 18x B5N on Shokaku and Zuikaku.

Now it's time for the rest of the Kido Butai

- Akagi
- Kaga
- Soryu
- Hiryu

Many thanks,

Here is Western's Soryu with 6x A6M, 18x B5N and 1xD4Y on the deck!

She is now combat ready.

I'm having problems with Hiryu, though.

6x A6M and 18x B5N were designated to spawn on the deck, however 2x A6M spawned in the island and exploded (spawn area in green) and 1x B5N was damaged by the blast and could not start its engine (circled in red).

I wonder if there is a way to overcome this ...

Code is the same as Zuikaku:

107.2827 -20
12.2827 -20
-27.7173 -14.5
-27.7173 -14.5
12.2827 20
107.2827 20

Hope you can help!

Code is the same as Zuikaku:
Hiryu was built to a modified Sōryū design with the island positioned
further aft.

If the Hiryu model has the same flight deck spawn mapping as Shokaku,
that could be the problem.

It would suggest that the spawn points need to be re-mapped to compensate
for Hiryu's re-positioned island.

IAC, just an idea to consider.

Very impressed with what you are doing, it's nice to see a "real"
strike group on a carrier in this game.

Cheers and Good Luck

Tested Ryujo(BETA120) in VPpack(v1.2) this past week using the edits warduke posted.
my results:
*original hull3mesh:
single aircraft type
6  A5M4
5  A6M2-21
B5N's could be placed on deck and saved to mission file in FMB but would
not spawn on deck when running the mission, "airspawn" only.
Note:
The VPpack comes with a CTO mod.

*edited hull3mesh:
single aircraft type
18  A5M4
17  A6M2-21
14  B5N

strike group(fighters - bombers)
15 aircraft - 3 A5M4 - 12 B5N
13 aircraft - 4 A5M4 - 9 B5N
14 aircraft - 5 A5M4 - 9 B5N
14 aircraft - 6 A5M4 - 8 B5N
16 aircraft - 9 A5M4 - 7 B5N

14 aircraft - 3 A6M2-21 - 11 B5N
13 aircraft - 4 A6M2-21 - 9 B5N
14 aircraft - 5 A6M2-21 - 9 B5N
13 aircraft - 6 A6M2-21 - 7 B5N
15 aircraft - 9 A6M2-21 - 6 B5N

Huge improvement over original, no problems encountered when
launching or recovering aircraft.

orig hull3mesh:
6 A5M4

edited hull3mesh:
18 A5M4

14 B5N

15aircraft -  3 A5M - 12 B5N

14aircraft -  3 A6M2 - 11 B5N

There is a simplified model of Ryujo from War Thunder that is more suitable in size and armament. I don’t want to create a separate topic and if possible I’ll post my work here. Google translation.

This is what the model looks like in the game. I replaced the weapons that came with the model with the default ones from the Il-2, and added new Japanese gunners.
