Your msh files run my IL-2 1946 well.

And I compare your msh with my msh... application indicate "these are same one, no differnce"!
Umm... I have some mistake file version control? or it's a mystery.

Now I have two new problems.

1. I want to see damage mesh.
My friend tell me that Ryujo's damage mesh is too wide than Hull.
Its I see when Ryujo gets shot, I will correct HullX_dmg parameters.
Probabry there are other stray damage meshes positioned terrible place.
Damage mesh's msh files are cannot seen in IL-2 1946, even if erase "Hidden" attribute in Hier.him.
What to do I find damege meshes be in right position.

2. Ship's damaged texture mapping configulation is where?
When ship has been heavy damaged, deck or abord texture was changed from skin1o.tgb to damage1o.tga, then we can see black holes.
My friend also find DeckCOver's damage1o.tga displayed at tail lower position like here.

I read Hier.him but cannot find where to correct it.

Someone can tell me where these reddish-brown parts are mapped in skin1o.tgb.


Today I stretch Ryujo's hight and make deeper waterline(it's effects looks deck high, ship body low), about 8pixels up reddish-brown bottom color together.
From then, these colums upper parts begin reddish-brown , before gray. There must be gray.

At same time, there and other colums in front of them to be lower z position under deck, I cannot seek where there are defined in Hier.him.

So tail columns -now above boats- also to be moved to tail x position supporting end of deck.
These definition are not found, too.

A question.

Do you care IJN ships painted separate its bottom reddish-brown under waterline?
(Maching just painted line with waterline)

Yesterday I try to Up/Down Ryujo's waterline and retouch its skin TGA reddish-brown , then new strange colored area appeared in a catwalk too.
I troubled.
If I continue use its skin reddish-brown, I must edit 3D modeling Hull1/2/3.msh to use as texsture another part of skin TGA.
But I have no way to edit 3D modeling.
GMAX doesn't work Windows7 64bit.

I tried Virtual PC with XP Mode... GMAX works in XP Mode but because of without Direct3D, it cannot show me textured object in preview window.
So I cannot edit texture area in XP Mode GMAX.

Another time I tried Blender.
Blender works well in Windows7 64bit.
But use 3ds format import/export Blender with converting msh <--> 3ds by MshConverter... is something wrong? MshConverter errors in convert 3ds exported Blender to msh.
So I cannot use my result of Blender in IL-2 1946!

I may give up edit 3D model and textured area in my PC :'(

I feel Blender is good to use.
If MshConverter can work well...

This is not solved.
He tell me it's like a transparent wall there.


Can I solve this?
I look around Hier.him again and again, but I don't find.

If this is all ships' specification, it is OK.

At first time, I think it caused by Hull1/2/3_dmg too and change parameters of there.
Then Textures replacing to damage1o.tga when Ryujo heavy damaged, is too smaller.
Hull1/2/3_dmg are mesh to show damage1o.tga textures and not to change.

Now I understand by your advise the size of the collision box.
I want to try change collision boxes. Please tell me how to do.

I've tried to correct spawn point.

The aircraft exploding when they spawn is because the spawn point is too low.

You will need Hull1.msh Hull2.msh and Hull3.msh in text format.
Use mshconverter to convert from binary format to text format.

You need to look for text like this

In the example it is the last row of coordinates in [HookLoc]

But it seems to no changes at spawned.
An airplane is spawned inside of hull and exploses.

yeah and AI aircraft landing on the bow and fall into the water on the stern >:(

I have had a look at the files and made some adjustments.
The aircraft now spawns on the deck and takes off under AI control --- sort of.
More adjustments to the Hooks are required to get things correct.

When you are editing hooks you must close down the game and restart to see the changes.
If you just TAB to text editor then TAB back to the game without closing it down you will not see the changes. This is not the same as editing hier.him files.

Change Z Coordinate on RWY_TO to adjust the spawn height of the aircraft.
You must close down the game before doing the text edit, then restart to see the changes.
Just minimising the game window will not work.

When the spawn height is correct you will see that the aircraft swings left before coming onto the takeoff path. To correct this adjust _Park00, _Park01, 02, 03, 05 and 05.
Adjust the whole group not just one point.
Coordinates I think work like this. Some ships are different.
+y moves to port
+x moves towards bow

I have moved the Park Group towards starboard by 5 metres which has improved the takeoff but it needs more work to be good. Will also need checking with a full flight deck after it is made to work with a single aircraft.

_TOW00a and TOW00b is one arrestor wire.  The coordinates need to be adjusted to make the wires line up with the blocks at each end.

Some of the deck sections need adjusted slightly in hier.him to line up better.

This model is showing great potential. I hope to see it completed.

Before finishing I did one complete takeoff and landing under manual control. Its great. It looks really small compared with coming into land on one of the big fleet carriers. -- Must get rid of the bumps in the flight deck though  ;D

I'm afraid I had few explanation what happens and what I try...

I made a single mission in FMB.
Set Ryujo as stationaly ship on a sea.
Set one A6M nealy Ryujo, and set its first waypoint "TakeOff", check mark "Player".
Then I play this single mission, at the same time mission starts my A6M spawned inside of hull and exploded.

I had to edit...
_Park00~05 z position ?
Instead of _RWY_TO.
...no, no, _RWY_TO also needed edited, but to solve my A6M explosion,  _Park00~05 z position have to been edited.
Directly.

I changed only _RWY_TO and _RWY_LDG.
changed... try... explosion... changed try... explosion... changed try... explosion...  :-[

I understand "Programming" and "When Programs read parameters written on config files" well.

Now with your this post, I understand the hooks "park00~05" and "_TOW00a-00b, _TOW07a-07b".
Adjusting all of them.
Now I try the first time IL-2 1946 starting after your advise.
My heart is beating Doki Doki.

I seems to CVL has only 2 _ParkXX hooks because of its small deck.
CV has 6 _ParkXX hooks.
My Ryujo is made smaller, are 6 _ParkXX hooks too many and too closed?
I think Ryujo and other IJN CVL will have 4 _ParkXX hooks.
2 _ParkXX hooks is too fewer than IJN CVLs' activities.
How about do you think it?

In other hands, we can make MOD CVs/CVLs more _ParkXX hooks, like Ryujo and CVL have 6, Shokaku and CV have 10!!
Then it is neccesary to edit _ParkXX hooks x y z position each other carefully, not to accident(conflict) at spawning.

I have thought many times "Only 6 planes can spawn on CV is too few".

Then I run IL-2 1946.

I played FMB's single mission A6M spawned on Ryujo.
A6M explosed, too...  ???
Umm... more increase _ParkXX needed?

But!
Another mission, I start at Iwojima runway and fly to Ryujo.
I successed landing to Ryujo.

Ryujo's arresting wire - _TOWXXa/b Hook I edited - arrests my A6M.

It seems A6M's tires subducting 30cm in deck, and no shadow of A6M, so it's needs to increase _RWY_LDG and _RWY_TO z positions a few.


I tried taxi U-turn and U-turn on Ryujo deck. Its on rear elevator.

It seems rear elevator cannot carry up/down A6M wing folded.
Is it REAL SIZE?
The elevator's scale comparered with Ryujo's Hull, and I look at Ryujo's drawing and models' picture, it is right scale, I see.

At last, I tried to take-off A6M from Ryujo(stationaly).

I falled down just after this shot.
It's very hard to take-off from Ryujo's real sizing short deck without headwind...

It sounds correct if it is difficult to take off when the carrier is stationary.

Does your aircraft spawn correctly on deck now?
It should be ok because it works ok for me.
Having 6 _Park hooks I do not think is a problem at the moment, but the coordinates of _Park need to be adjusted until the aircraft all line up correctly.

I have not tested with a full flight deck.
I have also not tested AI landing routine.
