That's what I thought. Maybe that's what the pods are for but they weren't armed in the photo because they were training? Here are a couple images with the pods armed. Its the Peruvian model.

I think this would be a marvy aircraft to have in IL2. Though I don't believe it saw action in US service, it saw action with several minor forces, and served with several others (10 nations other than the US according to wiki) and for this reason would be a dandy addition for all the mission and campaign designers.

They were flown until 1954 by Argentina, and as far as I know are still heavily involved in Snark hunting.

In Area-51 they still build some great wonderful UFOs.
